00:00Dave, sports, big one. What do we got?
00:02Okay, of course, we're going to start with football,
00:04where the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles
00:07in the Super Bowl last night, 38-35.
00:11Good game, back and forth game.
00:13It was a good game.
00:14The Eagles were up by 10 points on the Chiefs at halftime,
00:17but the Chiefs roared back due to Patrick Mahomes,
00:21who was spectacular.
00:22He was the game's MVP, 21 for 27 in the air for 182 yards,
00:27three touchdowns, no interceptions.
00:29He also ran for 44 yards and captured his second championship.
00:35That holding penalty was such a bummer, man.
00:37There was that controversial call at the end of the game
00:39when Eagles cornerback James Bradbury was called for defensive holding.
00:44That gave the Kansas City Chiefs a bunch of new downs, a first down,
00:48and then they were able to run out the clock and kick the field goal.
00:52After the game, it should be pointed out, Bradbury himself said it was a hold.
00:57He took responsibility for committing the penalty.
01:00He actually said, I was hoping to get away with it, but the ref saw it.
01:03It was a hold.
01:04Is that because the police from Philadelphia called and said,
01:06please say something so we don't burn the city down?
01:10I know.
01:10It's a classy move by James Bradbury for definitely saying that.
01:14But Mahomes now, two NFL MVPs, two Super Bowls, can't argue.
01:19He is the best player in all of football.
01:23And Andy Reid now wins his second career championship,
01:27and he's on his way to the Hall of Fame now, too,
01:30due to all of his success with the Chiefs and the Eagles.
01:33So, congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:36Congratulations to Sean Keegan out of Ocean Gate,
01:39who had the Kansas City Chiefs winning the game last night.
01:43Final score, 38-35.
01:45He hit it right on the head.
01:46Wow, in the football pick-em challenge?
01:47Yes, in the Rats Pro Football Pick-em Challenge.
01:50Yeah, look at that.
01:51On the VIP section, Jimmy Steele wins in the Rats VIP section.
01:58Wow, is that the first win for Jimmy Steele?
02:01It might be.
02:02I believe it is.
02:03I came in last this year.
02:05Gotten over the hump.
02:07Congrats to you, James.
02:08It wasn't good.
02:11But, yes, congrats to Jimmy Steele.
02:12Congrats to Sean Keegan out of Ocean Gate.
02:14Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs, your NFL champions for 2022 slash 2023.
02:19Tough way to go down for the Eagles, though, don't you think?
02:21Because of the holding penalty.
02:23Yeah.
02:23You know, it's like, oh, man, such a great game to end that way.
02:27I hear you.
02:28Yeah, and I know that the announcer was all over it, Greg Olson.
02:32He didn't think it was a good call.
02:33I didn't think it was a good call either.
02:35He was going crazy in that booth.
02:37But, you know, like, you know, the official in the booth at the same time seemed to think
02:42it was a defensive home.
02:43So, you know.
02:44I mean, if the player's going to cop to it, the player's going to cop to it.
02:46What do you want me to tell you?
02:47We are going to stay with football for a second, though, because according to ESPN, the Jets
02:52have inquired with the Packers about Aaron Rodgers' availability.
02:58Now we're talking.
02:58The Jets have said they are in the market for a veteran quarterback.
03:01They have recently hired Nathaniel Hackett.
03:04That is Rodgers' former offensive coordinator with the Packers.
03:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:08And so Rodgers is tight with Nathaniel Hackett.
03:11And, yes, the Jets are indeed inquiring as we speak about Aaron Rodgers.
03:16Is there anything else I can cross other than my fingers to get that deal done?
03:20Crazy.
03:20I mean, listen, I get it.
03:21We're not getting the Aaron Rodgers of six years, seven years ago.
03:25We're not getting that guy.
03:26I mean, just two years ago, he was league MVP.
03:28I know.
03:28Two years in a row, for God's sake.
03:30Just two years ago.
03:31I mean, you know.
03:32I mean, he has turned into a bit of a whack-a-doodle.
03:35He's crazy.
03:36That's the one thing you're going to have to be concerned about with Aaron Rodgers.
03:39He and Kyrie Irving remind me of the same person.
03:42If he wants to eat mushrooms and come down to the Pinelands, I'll be more than happy to wander with him.
03:46It's just that, are you going to get, like, 1967, you know, a light-my-fire Jim Morrison, Aaron Rodgers,
03:52when he was on top of the world?
03:53Or are you getting 1971 in France, Jim Morrison, Aaron Rodgers, when the end, you know.
03:59The half-tub.
04:00Yeah, so we'll see what happens on that.
04:03Probably a little of both.
04:05Basketball.
04:05The Knicks, Nets, 76ers all inactive last night.
04:09This evening, the Knicks take on the Nets at Madison Square Garden.
04:12Knicks come into the game 31-27, 7th in the East.
04:16The Nets are 33-23, 5th in the East.
04:19The Sixers go against the Rockets in Philadelphia.
04:22Hockey, the Flyers fell to the Kraken 4-3.
04:25The Devils and Rangers were off.
04:27NASCAR Kyle Busch apologized for being detained at an airport in Mexico for having a gun in his luggage.
04:34Busch called it a mistake, apologized for the incident.
04:36It appears he'll just be fined and not have to do any time in Mexico because he was actually
04:42Mexican jail time.
04:43He was sentenced to three and a half years.
04:45Pass on that.
04:46In a Mexican prison.
04:47Yeah.
04:48But I believe they said he'll be able to just get the fine.
04:51So I'm sure.
04:52Make a contribution.
04:52Today's a good day for him.
04:54The Mexican president's re-election campaign.
04:56We'll work this out for you.
04:57And finally, baseball, and one of the fun surprises as I was watching the Super Bowl pregame coverage
05:02yesterday on Fox was that Fox announced that Derek Jeter will join his buddy Alex Rodriguez
05:09and become an analyst for Fox Sports for their baseball show.
05:13I thought they didn't like each other.
05:14Hey, Rod, they didn't.
05:16But it seems like ever since they had kind of like a reunion on television, they did that
05:23reunion on ESPN, and they hugged, and they announced that they went out to dinner, had
05:29some drinks, apologized to one another, so now they're actually best buddies.
05:33That would be fun to listen to in the booth.
05:35Yeah.
05:35So A-Rod and Jeter in the Fox studios, I think that's pretty cool.
05:40And that is your quick look at sports.
