00:00Sports, what do we got?
00:01We are going to start with football.
00:02The Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones have finally agreed to a new deal.
00:07Jones will get a four-year contract worth $160 million.
00:11$82 million is guaranteed money.
00:14He also has $35 million he can make in incentives.
00:19So it's a very good contract for Daniel Jones.
00:22Probably more than the Giants wanted to give him.
00:25Probably a little bit more than he's actually worth.
00:28But certainly less than the $48 million a season, which was utterly ridiculous.
00:34Yeah, that seemed kind of nuts, right?
00:36So as a result, and because Daniel Jones got this done deal before 4 p.m. yesterday,
00:43the Giants were able to turn around and place the non-exclusive franchise tag on Saquon Barkley.
00:50He will make $10 million this upcoming season.
00:53It also means should Saquon choose, he can negotiate with other teams for a new deal,
00:58but the Giants have the right to match it.
01:00Giants general manager Joe Schoen describes the Giants as pleased that everything has come to an agreement,
01:07a happy ending for now.
01:08I mean, as long as we can get Saquon back, it seems like they should be able to.
01:13Most of the Giants fans I know seem to be into this deal.
01:16Yeah.
01:16Sets the Giants up for a couple of years with a decent quarterback,
01:20and they add some targets for him, and they got a good future.
01:23Jones earned this money on his second half.
01:25He really established himself not just as a game manager and a guy who could just get to third and five
01:31after Saquon does the work on the first two downs,
01:34but a guy who could actually make throws and come up clutch.
01:37He came up clutching the regular season when they needed to,
01:39and then he got a playoff victory where he was spectacular.
01:42The only knock I'm hearing is that, well, this guy didn't throw a lot of touchdowns.
01:46No, he didn't.
01:47But he was also a running quarterback, right?
01:50Well, he didn't throw a lot, exactly.
01:51And he also was least in the league in interceptions, too.
01:56I mean, there's glass half full.
01:57Yeah, I guess if you're running the ball and not throwing, then you're going to throw less interceptions.
02:01He only threw five interceptions the entire season.
02:04That's good.
02:05So, you know, that is – the point is that's why Saquon is so important
02:09because he adds that dynamic explosion from the running position
02:14combined with Daniel's ability to run.
02:17Yeah, then you should just be able to pick up third and threes like that, you know?
02:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:20So, I'm happy.
02:22Now, for the Jets, we are hearing –
02:25First, it was ESPN's Trey Wingo who reported that Aaron Rodgers is very much looking at the Jets.
02:33Talk to me now, baby.
02:34The Green Bay Packers have officially given the Jets permission to talk to Rodgers
02:42and to make an offer to Aaron Rodgers.
02:45What are we going to have to send out to Green?
02:47How many picks do we send to Green Bay to get this guy?
02:50You're going to have to send a few picks.
02:51But I don't know.
02:52Is it going to be as many as you might think because do they even want Aaron Rodgers anymore?
02:57No, I don't think they do.
02:58I think Green Bay wants to turn the page on Rodgers.
03:02He's, you know – here's my one fear as a Jet.
03:07How have the West Coast quarterbacks been for you?
03:09Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, and so on and so forth.
03:13Zach Wilson wasn't very good.
03:14He sucks.
03:15Darnold wasn't very good.
03:16Darnold wasn't very good.
03:17Sanchez had a couple decent years, but he flamed out early.
03:21Butt fumble.
03:22These are all West Coast quarterbacks.
03:23Aaron Rodgers is from California.
03:24And again, wasn't it Sanchez who got us to the championship game?
03:28But that was on the strength of the defense, not on him.
03:31Rex Ryan was brilliant that year.
03:32But my point is the West Coast guys have not been great for the Jets.
03:38This guy's a West Coast guy.
03:39I'm just letting you know.
03:40He's from California.
03:41Listen, he's also one of the best quarterbacks to play the game.
03:43That is true.
03:44In current time.
03:45Oh, he's a Hall of Famer.
03:46I'm going to be absolutely A-OK, because bringing anyone else in other than Zach is going to
03:53be a step in the right direction.
03:55Anybody but him is better than what we have now.
03:57This is kind of the best case scenario.
03:58But you got Mike White.
03:59What about Mike White?
04:00You're throwing him under the bus.
04:01He's done.
04:02He's done.
04:02It's over.
04:03He's going Aaron Rodgers.
04:04What about Lamar Jackson?
04:06Why not go after him?
04:09Absolutely, I would have taken him in a heartbeat for the same reason.
04:11Better than what we got now.
04:13But I think Aaron Rodgers is probably a better choice than Lamar Jackson.
04:18Well, Rodgers can win right now with that Jets defense, so that's what they're thinking.
04:23They get three good years out of Aaron Rodgers, maybe one of them results in a Super Bowl.
04:27And there is a chance.
04:29Now, the other chance of that is that they have another Brett Favre situation on their hands.
04:33Very possible.
04:34Basketball.
04:35Very, very possible.
04:36And let's face it.
04:38If anyone can screw it up, it's us and the Jets.
04:43The Jets are the highest, most likely team to screw up a superstar coming to town.
04:48I'm not worried about the Jets screwing it up.
04:50I'm worried about Rodgers and his odd, you know, sometimes he's into it and then sometimes he's not.
04:57He's a little flaky.
04:57Yeah, but that's what I'm talking about.
04:59It's just the dark cloud.
05:00But do you think the New York media will drive him crazy and all of a sudden he'll be like,
05:04I hate this.
05:04It's possible.
05:05Absolutely.
05:05Certainly possible.
05:07That's my concern.
05:08Anyway, basketball.
05:09While the Knicks' nine-game win streak has finally come to an end, the Knicks lost last
05:13night to the Hornets, 112-105, despite 27 points from R.J.
05:17Barrett.
05:18Still, the Knicks are in the fifth spot in the Eastern Conference at 39-28, and they are
05:22two games behind the Cavs for the fourth spot.
05:24The Nets dominated the Rockets, 118-96.
05:28Brooklyn's Mikhail Bridges scored 30 points in the net victory.
05:31And the 76ers crushed the Timberwolves, 117-94, with Joel Embiid having another tremendous
05:36game, 39 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
05:40Baseball spring training, the Mets and Astros tied at five each.
05:43The Phillies fell to the raise, 7-3.
05:46The Yankees were off.
05:47They'll play the Red Sox today.
05:48Staying with the Yankees, Aaron Judge says he's ready to play left field today if they want.
05:53And the reason why he wants to play left is this will free up a lot of the possibilities
05:58for the Yankees lineup.
06:00If Judge is in left, you can put more Giancarlo Stanton in right, and this is good because
06:05then that Jason Dominguez, that 20-year-old slugger that we're talking about, that's hitting
06:11417 in spring.
06:13He's the Yankees' number one prospect.
06:15That guy could be in the DH.
06:18Wow.
06:18Because they have to figure...
06:19Does he play the field, too?
06:20He plays first base, and we got Anthony Rizzo.
06:22Yeah, we got a first base.
06:23And Anthony Rizzo's also an unbelievably skilled defensive first baseman.
06:27We're not taking him out.
06:28But we got to get this...
06:29Dominguez and Volpe have to make this team.
06:32No more dangling the carrot in front of Yankee fans, because honestly, we've been hearing
06:36about Dominguez and Volpe for three years, and these guys are awesome.
06:39Do you have any concerns about putting such a young person in a DH spot?
06:43No, I don't have it, because here's why...
06:45Isn't that usually reserved for the old-timer and slugger who'd come in and just...
06:48I mean, it can be.
06:49Hit some dingers.
06:50It can be, but you want these guys getting at bats.
06:53You know, the more Major League at bats he gets, the quicker he'll adapt to the game.
06:57But, like, Jeter was around 21 or so when he was brought up.
07:01I mean, again, this guy's their number one prospect.
07:04He's 20.
07:05Bring him up.
07:06I agree with you.
07:06I'm not scared of the age at all.
07:08Yeah.
07:09That doesn't scare me.
07:10Bring him up.
07:10See how he does.
07:10That's the one thing that they say the Yankees are a little worried about.
07:13Is he too young?
07:14Should we give him another year in AAA?
07:15I'm like, God, please stop it with the AAA already.
07:18Let's just get him up here.
07:19And he's killing the ball.
07:20Yeah.
07:20400.
07:21Good God.
07:22And, meanwhile, that Volpe guy is awesome.
07:24He's playing an incredible shortstop.
07:26And that guy looks like he could be the Yankees starting shortstop.
07:28So, Yankees, the youth needs to carry the team this year along with our judge.
07:33That's your quick look at sports.
07:34We'll see you next time.
07:39Bye.
07:54Bye.
07:57Bye.
07:57Bye.
