00:15the European Union and Canada during the closing ceremony of the International Antifascist
00:20War Festival.
00:25In Israel, thousands of people took to the streets of Tel Aviv for the weekly protest
00:29against Benjamin Netanyahu's government and for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
00:36The U.S. Attorney's Office requested a sentence of at least 15 years in prison against former
00:40Democrat Senator Bob Menendez if he was accused of bribery and corruption.
00:47Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana,
00:57Cuba.
00:58Let's begin with the news.
00:59In Venezuela, after three days of events, the World Festival of the Antifascists International
01:04ended in Caracas.
01:06More than 2,000 delegates from five continents participated and took decisions to move forward.
01:10Let's see the following work by our correspondent, Junot Soler.
01:14Some of the delegates had traveled for more than 40 hours to attend the festival.
01:19Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro held the final speech of the event, recognizing
01:24their efforts generally.
01:25We could say that it is the antifascist international, but it is also the international of the brave,
01:40of the warriors, of those who fight.
01:44On behalf of all of Venezuela, I thank you for having come to this historic, unprecedented
01:51day.
01:52On the other side, Venezuela and its efforts were acknowledged far away in African countries
01:58fighting against colonialism.
01:59I'm here in Caracas to give our support to the antifascist president, who is Nicolás
02:09Maduro, our leader, our international and antifascist president.
02:17And here we learn about the struggle of Latin America and we want to connect those struggles
02:28to the struggle in Africa.
02:30Others from Nepal, the heart of Asia, witness fascism as geopolitical imperialism.
02:36It's bordered with Tibet of China and India, so it's very important in geography.
02:43The evil eyes of imperialists, they are always in Nepal and they want to intervene or they
02:51want to make it unstable and they want to make it one of their satellite or one of their
02:58allies.
02:59Again, others are focused on the president-elect of the United States of America.
03:05Unfortunately, in our war today, we confer the Trump as the president of the United States.
03:14I think he is the symbol of the fascism today and the people around the world who want freedom,
03:22who defend for justice, we must be united against the Trump fascism, United States.
03:32Fascism goes together with Zionism.
03:35Samar Al-Gul from Palestine is studying medicine in Cuba.
03:39Her parents and brothers are in Gaza.
03:41What do they tell her?
03:43You don't have to stay in the home crying, just seeing the news, the bad news.
03:56You have to go out to talk about us, to talk with people, to say to them that we are suffering
04:18for this genocide.
04:21Finishing her medicine studies, she will return to her homeland.
04:24For the time being, the anti-fascist international makes her feel that Palestine is not alone.
04:30And more will be done, says Yosselin Garcia.
04:33I think we are going to have meetings for preparing the same festival in the country,
04:42but also condemn the Palestinian genocide and of course trying to keep fighting for
04:50the peace in the world.
04:52In their final declaration, the delegates agreed to establish more chapters in different
04:56countries to coordinate a meeting of think tanks to coordinate political formation activities.
05:02The establishment of a People's Anti-Fascist Feminist International was also decided upon.
05:07The delegates finished the event swearing an oath.
05:18From the World Festival of the Anti-Fascist International, we raise our fist, we swear
05:24firmly, together with President Nicolas Maduro, we swear to the self-determination of the
05:31peoples to advance in the fight against fascism.
05:36Long live the people of Venezuela, long live the people of the world.
05:43After three days of meetings, the Anti-Fascist International proceeds with determination
05:48and concrete steps.
05:49Yunus Soner, Telesur, Caracas, Venezuela.
05:54The Venezuelan Armed Forces collectively rejected on Saturday the new package of illegal unilateral
05:59sanctions imposed by the United States government against national state officials.
06:03Through a joint broadcast, the Bolivarian Army condemned the sanctions, affirming they
06:07only strengthened their determination to defend the homeland from foreign interference and
06:11imperialist pretensions.
06:12In addition, the Armed Forces rejected the reward offered by Washington for the capture
06:16of Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez.
06:20Furthermore, the national forces reminded the world they only owe themselves to the
06:24will of the people and not to those of third countries supported by leaders of the Venezuelan
06:29far right.
06:34The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, held meetings with personalities representing
06:38different countries and organizations that attended his swearing-in as president.
06:43One day after his swearing-in and re-election as President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro
06:48held a meeting with the official delegation of the Republic of Belarus to discuss trade
06:52and economic cooperation in strategic areas.
06:55Viktor Karenkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus and co-president
06:59of the Belarusian-Venezuelan Mixed Commission, together with all authorities attended the
07:04meeting while recognizing the presidency of the Venezuelan President in a constitutional
07:08manner.
07:09During the meeting, the current and future challenges between the two nations were discussed,
07:13as well as future projects in the sphere of food production, trade, industry, petrochemicals,
07:18reactivation of factories and heavy machinery.
07:24And the Venezuelan head of state also received the visit of a delegation from the Democratic
07:27Republic of the Congo.
07:29The first Vice Chairman of the Senate and Special Envoy of the Republic of the Congo,
07:33José Kalala, arrived in the country on representation of President Félix de Siqueira to recognize
07:38President Nicolas Maduro's investorship.
07:41The ties between Venezuela and the Democratic Republic of the Congo date back to 2005.
07:46So for 20 years, a macro agreement has prevailed between the two countries based on communication,
07:52dialogue and exchange of information.
08:06And President Nicolas Maduro received a delegation from Burkina Faso headed by President of the
08:11Transitional Legislative Assembly of Burkina Faso, Ousmane Boukouma.
08:16The country shares a project with Venezuela and is seeking its emancipation from the dominant
08:20models.
08:21The meeting is propitious to review the agenda of commercial and political exchanges between
08:26the two countries, which includes 20 cooperation agreements in different areas such as aeronautics,
08:31agriculture, civil protection, culture, sports, science and technology.
08:41In a statement, members of the ALBA-TCP expressed their total rejection of the new measures
08:45imposed against Venezuela by the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European
08:50Union.
08:51In the statement, it was said the member states of ALBA-TCP reject the aggressions against
08:55the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, including unilateral coercive measures against state
09:00officials announced this January 10, 2025, during the inauguration of President Nicolas
09:06Maduro for the 2025-2031 constitutional period.
09:10Additionally, the member states expressed in the text the unscrupulous, extortative
09:14and criminal measures imposed in unison by the U.S., Canadian, British and European Union
09:20governments.
09:21While the presidential swearing-in ceremony was taking place, reflects the cultic complicity
09:25and obvious premeditation of governments of the corporate West to jeopardize peace
09:30and stability of a free, sovereign and independent nation such as Venezuela.
09:55Welcome back.
10:14In Israel, thousands of people took to the streets of Tel Aviv for the weekly protest
10:18against Benjamin Netanyahu's government and for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
10:23During the demonstration, those present denounced the death of six Israeli soldiers in Palestinian
10:28territory and demanded a ceasefire with Hamas for a prisoner exchange.
10:32Saturday's rally was also attended by several ambassadors from countries such as the United
10:36States, the United Kingdom and Germany, who called on international organizations to put
10:41pressure on Netanyahu's regime to end the conflict in the enclave.
10:45For his part, the Israeli Prime Minister agreed to send the head of the Mossad to the ceasefire
10:48negotiations in Qatar.
11:18According to internationalist Wadi Calbo, the defense treaty between his two countries
11:36had offered benefits to France, while for Sharian people it meant little or nothing.
11:41Sharian President Mahamad Idris Debbi had begun to distance himself from France and
11:45move influence by the recent ruptures of other African nations and the European country.
11:50This shift in Chad's foreign policy could bring them more in line with the new Sahel
11:55alliance, which has been moving closer to powers such as Russia, China and Iran, posing
12:00a significant challenge to Western influence in the region.
12:07South Korean authorities indicated that the final four minutes before impact were not
12:11registered in the cockpit voice recorders of the Yuju airplane crashed on December 29
12:16at Muan airport.
12:20Analysis of the pilots' cockpit voice and flight data revealed that the recording stopped
12:24at 8.59 local time.
12:27This complicates the investigation into the causes of the disaster that killed 179 people,
12:32one of the worst in the history of South Korean aviation.
12:35Authorities will now analyze the reasons why the black boxes stopped recording minutes
12:40before impact.
12:41The pilot had issued a distress alert and notified the air traffic control tower that
12:45the aircraft had been affected by a bird strike.
12:53In Croatia, the second round of the presidential election is underway.

13:02majority of 49.9% of the vote, out of Dragan Primovarac with 19.35%.
13:08Milanovic is the clear favorite for the runoff and has the support of the Croatian Social
13:20Democratic Party, a member of the Party of European Socialists.

13:58Democrat Senator Bob Menendez after he was accused of bribery and corruption.
14:02The demand of the U.S. Attorney's Office comes after Menendez was found guilty on July
14:0616, 2024, of the 16 charges against him.
14:10According to the document presented to the court, the U.S. politician abused his power
14:13as senator, damaged the public trust, and involved other officials in his acts of corruption.
14:18For his part, Menendez pleaded not guilty of all charges and asked the court to delay
14:22his sentencing until the trial of his wife is completed for the same cases.
