00:24during protests denouncing the privatization of the Social Security Fund.

00:37by the Israeli aggression.
00:40Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Resus Studios in Havana,
00:52Cuba.
00:53We begin with the news, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro presented his proposal for
00:57the Constitutional Reform Project before the National Assembly to continue moving forward
01:01in accordance with the current needs of the Venezuelan people.
01:04In the framework of a solemnization of the legislature, the head of state delivered the
01:08first project for the reform of the Constitution.
01:11The proposal covers four main topics which seek to broaden the constitutional framework
01:15and consists of 80 articles.
01:18The project proposes to grant the popular power direct attributions in the structure
01:22of national power.
01:23In addition, it is proposed that the fundamental text be adjusted to the construction of new
01:29modernity, emphasis the incorporation of the country to a multi-polar world and the strengthening
01:35of the productive economic sphere with its own initiative.
01:46It would be in the first place the expansion and improvement of the participatory democracy
01:52and direct democracy.
02:04A democratic state, a democratic society, expanding the bases, mechanisms, institutions
02:11and forms of freedom and republican democracy of this century.
02:15Know the effort to build a new democratic system and incorporate as we are incorporating.
02:22In one of those articles, the concept of the distribution of the classic power, we could
02:27say of Montesquieu, national power, Venezuelan power is attributed in three levels.
02:42National power, regional power, municipal power and I hope with the favor of God, with
02:48this reform, that we expressly, tacitly and widely include communal power, territorial
02:55power, the power of the base, popular power.
02:59It would be for instances of power where the fundamental basis would be social, communal
03:04and popular power.
03:07In this sense, the Venezuelan head of state emphasized that the first point of the constitutional
03:11reform implies a fundamental element regarding the democratization of the government systems
03:15in the country.
03:20I ask for wisdom so that these concepts improve from the fundamental concepts, from the fundamental
03:26principles to the mechanisms and forms of application.
03:29Surely many things will remain for the development of the laws as always, organic laws, special
03:35laws, but it is a fundamental element to democratize the federal council of government and expand
03:41it, improve it, perfect it.
03:58Democratize and transform from the root the structures of the old governorships, of the
04:03old mayoralties, of the old municipal councils, of the old legislative councils, turn them
04:09upside out like a sock and establish them on new parameters of operation.
04:14President Nicolás Maduro also explained the second point of the framework of the country's
04:20constitution, highlighting that it is based on the construction of a new modernity, defining
04:24the values and principles to a more humane society.
04:32The second point is the issue of the construction of a new society and its component elements.
04:38How much we are going to enjoy this debate on new technologies, on the development of
04:53new forms of communication, and we have at least ten articles on all the issues of the
04:58protection of the right to collective health, to the health of our children, talking about
05:02mental health, to the psychological stability of society, the whole form of defense with
05:08which we are going to vaccinate society from the new forms of aggression through technology
05:13and much more.
05:14In other news, in Panama, the Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it will present six
05:21charges against 83 members of the Construction and Civil Industries Union who were arrested
05:25for protesting the privatization of the security fund.
05:29Prosecutor Elizabeth Carrion wants to press charges, arguing they committed alleged crimes
05:34against public servants, state patrimony, order, freedom, and against life and personal
05:39integrity.
05:40The defense attorney representing the workers denounced that such an indictment would be
05:45a legal outburst for the said workers have been unjustly accused by a system that seeks
05:50to criminalize social protest.
05:52Meanwhile, activists warned that such an indictment would be an attack against democracy and human
05:58rights.
06:03And the Honduran government announced the arrival of five planes that will transport
06:07citizens deported by the United States over the coming week.
06:11In this regard, the National Migration Institute announced the schedule of confirmed flights
06:15and also stated that it is taking steps to add an army aircraft in order to repatriate
06:19nationals detained at the border.
06:22Meanwhile, the foreign ministry denied the increase in deportations of undocumented migrants
06:27from the United States and assured the flow of returns remains within normal parameters.
06:34Now I'm going to take our first short break.

07:03Welcome back.
07:12The Dominican Republic has lost about 0.9 percent of its gross domestic product due
07:16to climate change.
07:17The Dominican Central Bank has warned that rising temperatures are affecting the lives
07:21of the people and poses significant risks to stability and economic growth in areas
07:26like tourism and agriculture.
07:29The Dominican Central Bank says the country's economy needs a comprehensive transformation
07:34to counter the effects of extreme weather phenomena brought about by climate change.
07:40Argentina's President Jairo Mele might face impeachment after promoting the Libra cryptocurrency,
07:49which has been linked to potential fraud.
07:51The controversy erupted on Friday when Mele posted about the cryptocurrency on his ex-account
07:56causing its value to soar before crashing hours later.
08:00The opposition has expressed outrage accusing the president of artificially inflating the
08:04asset's value and profiting at the expense of thousands of investors.
08:09Several political groups have demanded explanations and announced plans to file a formal impeachment
08:13motion in Congress.
08:15Lawmakers are preparing to investigate whether Mele committed fraud or misconduct, with key
08:20agencies such as the National Securities Commission and the Anti-Corruption Office expected to
08:24play a critical role in the case.
08:31Argentina has more evidence linking President Jairo Mele to the cryptocurrency scam comes
08:36to light.
08:37The project creator claims he is an advisor to the president.
08:41Hayden Davis, the creator of the so-called meme coin, confirmed this in a video that
08:46he shared on several platforms.
08:49Davis claims that he was guaranteed public support in the coin's launching.
08:54That was what the Argentine head of state did last Friday when he became the ringleader
08:58in the promotion of a millionaire scam.
09:00Grohmann has wanted to distance himself from this serious fact, but Davis directly implicates
09:05the executive and he also affirms that he will not return the money.
09:15Also in Argentina, Buenos Aires Health Minister Nicolas Creplak alerted the country to a health
09:19crisis that has been little addressed.
09:22The increase in suicides over the last year.
09:26Creplak pointed out that the number of suicides in the capital doubles the number of murders.
09:30The figures increased during the first year in office of President Jairo Mele.
09:34Alberto Trimboli, honorary president of the Argentine Mental Health Association, explained
09:40that although the country has a national law on suicide prevention, it is unknown how it
09:44is currently being handled.
09:46Trimboli warns on the importance of implemented awareness and prevention programs from the
09:51ministry.
09:52And the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Ukraine lost over a thousand soldiers
10:00during military operations carried out in the last 24 hours.
10:03The Central Group registered about 475 Ukrainian casualties, the Southern Group 180, while
10:09the Western Group registered more than 165 enemy losses.
10:13Likewise, the Russian Defense detailed that several war vehicles, such as a tank, five
10:17armored combat vehicles, and 13 pieces of artillery, all manufactured in the West, were
10:23destroyed.
10:24For their part, Russian anti-aircraft forces shot down 50 drones and two U.S. multiple
10:28rocket launcher projectiles.
10:38At the beginning of World War II, the territory of Western Ukraine, which was part of Poland
10:43until 1939, was inhabited by a mixed Polish and Ukrainian population.
10:47After the incorporation of these lands into the Soviet Union in 1939 and the beginning
10:51of the German occupation in 1949, tension between the Poles and Ukrainians began to
10:56rise.
10:57The Lenivtsi massacre took place on February 13, 1944, and was one of the most tragic cases
11:07of the notorious Volhynia massacre on the territory of today's Western Ukraine.
11:12There, between 1943 and 1944, the ultra-nationalist Ukrainian insurgent army raged against the
11:18ethnic Polish population.
11:28Poles have been living here for a long time.
11:30By the way, the nationalists called them, weed.
11:34For example, at that time, they had a wheat field with ears of wheat forming, which meant
11:40the Ukrainian state, the Ukrainian people.
11:43So the weed that were scattered there had to be pulled up and destroyed.
11:53In revenge for the way the Poles ruled them in the period between the two wars, the Ukrainians
11:58launched a campaign of terror against the Poles.
12:01Poles to this day remember with horror how bloody this Ukrainian terror was.
12:10This genocide was part of ethnic cleansing to create a mono-ethnic Ukrainian state based
12:16on the ideas of racial superiority.
12:18Although today's Ukrainian propagandists try to defend, cover up, and justify Stepan
12:23Bandera and his followers, the truth is that they murdered more than 100,000 Poles.
12:31When someone kills, destroys, burns other people alive, you can't call them a human
12:36being again because people don't do that.
12:39That's not human.
12:40And whatever the event, war or something like that, a person should not stoop to such horror.
12:50Many descendants of the massacred people live in Poland, and they remember it very well.
12:54That is why it will not be possible to forget and change the memories of these people, to
12:58synchronize them with the mainstream of the current Polish foreign policy towards Ukraine.
13:06This event is an unfinished page of history.
13:10Despite the efforts of the Ukrainian and Polish leadership to ignore it in order to consolidate
13:14their alliance against Russia, ordinary people do remember it, and the witnesses of this
13:19nightmare are still alive.
13:24Underneath the hut, they dug a huge hole where they threw the people.
13:27They weren't even people anymore, but pieces of them, pieces, pieces, pieces, heads, hands,
13:32just pieces of people.
13:37When they killed my mother, she fell on me, and I, along with her, I remember how we crawled
13:41out from under her, there was so much blood.
13:48There are two types of partnerships, one in favor of something, one against something.
13:53Poland opted for an alliance with Ukraine against Russia.
13:56As long as Ukraine defines itself as an enemy of Russia, Poland will love and support them.
14:04In a single day in Laniwsy, Ukrainian nationalists stabbed and killed 72 people with axes, pitchforks
14:11and bayonets.
14:12In Volhynia, there were hundreds of similar cases.
14:15However, the current regime in Kiev not only glorifies, but also claims to be the continuator
14:21of these Nazi groups.
14:51Welcome back.
15:07In Syria, a drone strike killed at least two people in Idlib province, northeast of Damascus.
15:13Civil Defense detailed that the attack was directed against a vehicle traveling on the
15:16road between Aleppo and Latakia.
15:18The bodies of both victims were recovered after the fire was extinguished.
15:22So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
15:25However, authorities presume that it is the international coalition led by the United
15:28States, which operates in Syria under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
15:38And over 250,000 homes have been destroyed in Gaza Strip by the Israeli aggression.
15:44The Gaza Ministry of Public Works and Housing estimates that at least 170,000 homes have
15:49been reduced to rubble, whereas 80,000 have been rendered uninhabitable.
15:54Palestinian authorities have denounced the accumulation of over 42 million tons of contaminated
15:59rubble resulting from Israeli shelling.
16:01Meanwhile, international organizations say the reconstruction of Gaza will likely take
16:06up to 15 years and cost some $53 billion.
16:15In Chile, people took to the streets with banners in solidarity with the Palestinian
16:18people in rejection of Israeli aggression in the occupied territories.
16:23Thousands of citizens gathered Saturday to denounce the continuity of Israeli aggression
16:28in Gaza and the West Bank, despite the ongoing truce.
16:32Chile also condemned plans by the United States and Israel to attempt to ethnically
16:35cleanse Gaza by driving its inhabitants to move to other Arab nations in the area.
16:40Moreover, the Chilean government spokesman urged other countries in the region to declare
16:44themselves in a state of alert until a definitive ceasefire is approved.
16:54Also in Lebanon, thousands of people took to the streets to protest against a blockade
16:58to Iranian airplanes.
17:01Officials demanded the Lebanese government allow Iranian airplanes to land at Beirut's
17:04airport and that it takes measures to prevent Israeli hegemony in the country.
17:09On its part, the Hezbollah Lebanese resistance movement denounced police repression against
17:13demonstrators.
17:14Currently, the Lebanese government held an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis in
17:18the country and measures to avoid the situation from deteriorating any further.
17:28In Ethiopia, the 38th African Union Summit held its closing session.
17:32The base focused on peace, national security and climate change.
17:36On Sunday, African leaders met for the second consecutive day to discuss the implementation
17:40of a continental free trade agreement and to present a report on how to ensure regional
17:45security.
17:46On this last session, the leaders discussed conflicts in the continent and the situation
17:50in Palestine.
17:51They also set a date for the next meeting and passed a final resolution signed by member
17:56countries.
17:57Meanwhile, in Mali, at least 42 people died and others were injured following the collapse
18:06of a gold mine.
18:07The accident occurred in the district of Kenieva, east of the country.
18:10Authorities warned that the death toll could increase as search and rescue efforts continue.
18:15This is the second last light accident to occur in Mali in the last few weeks.
18:24And in China, authorities announced the creation of the first floating oil production storage
18:29and offloading vessel with the capacity to capture carbon.
18:33The vessel is 333 meters long and 60 meters wide.
18:38It has an extracting capacity of 120,000 barrels of crude oil and it has a system installed
18:44that traps the carbon dioxide generated during navigation and production operations.
18:48Plus, it can use the residual heat to generate electricity, thus contributing with the environment
18:54and helping save energy.
18:56Officials say adding carbon capture and storage systems reduces emissions and contributes
19:00to global carbon neutrality goals.
19:21On Sunday, Venezuela's capital, Caracas, hosted the CAP-2025 Marathon, with the participation
19:26of at least 6,000 people.
19:29Since early in the morning, the streets of Caracas welcomed thousands of runners from
