00:16in a democratic and participatory manner.
00:22Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said Wednesday that the decision of the United
00:26States government to remove Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly sponsored
00:30terrorism is a sign that its destabilization plans against the Caribbean island have failed.
00:38Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on a truce in the Gaza Strip after 15 months
00:43of genocide.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra García from Telesur Studios in
00:55Caracas, Venezuela.
00:57We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:12In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro signed the decree to carry out a constitutional reform
01:17in a democratic and participatory manner.
01:19During his nation's annual message, the Venezuelan head of state announced the creation
01:23of a commission in charge of carrying out the constitutional reform and proposed Prosecutor
01:29Tarek William Saab as its president.
01:32Maduro detailed that the constitutional reform will have three general objectives, which
01:36are the expansion of democracy, the construction of the new state to define the kind of society
01:42demanded by the people, and to lay the foundations of the new self-sustainable economy.
01:50Cuba's foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, said Wednesday that the decision of the United
01:55States government to remove Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly sponsored
01:59terrorism is a sign that its destabilization plans against the Caribbean island have failed.
02:04During a press conference in Havana, Rodríguez denounced that the list is unilateral and
02:10arbitrary and lacks credibility and prestige on an international level.
02:15He also reiterated that the Cuban government has maintained and continues to maintain the
02:20firm and historic resolve to hold a respectful and responsible dialogue with Washington on
02:26the basis of equality, sovereignty, and without interference in his country's internal affairs.
02:32The foreign minister highlighted the considerable humanitarian damage that the U.S. sanctions
02:37and blockade have had on Cuban families and praised the resilience of the Cuban people
02:42and government in the face of the U.S. hostile policies against the island.
02:51The world celebrates the Cuban victory after the island nation was removed from the U.S.
02:56list of state sponsors of terrorism, while they kept on calling for an end to the coercive
03:01measures against the Caribbean country.
03:03The measure announced by the U.S. government was welcomed by nations such as Venezuela,
03:08Colombia and Bolivia, as well as by representatives of the Cuban solidarity movements.
03:13Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stressed the need to lift the economic, financial and
03:18commercial blockade that has affected Cuban society for more than 60 years.
03:23For his part, Bolivian President Luiz Arce apprised the decision and reaffirmed that
03:28justice had been done after the unilateral and notorious listing in 2021.
03:34Organizations such as the National Network in Cuba and the ALBA-TCP welcomed the news
03:39and highlighted the global solidarity that led to this result.
03:47Cuba's Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces reported Wednesday that search and
03:52rescue teams have not been able to locate the 13 comrades missing in the army depot
03:57accident which occurred in the eastern province of Holguín last week.
04:02One week after the event, specialists have concluded that the possibility of survival
04:06is now null.
04:08In the text, the government body said,
04:11Due to the extreme complexity of the area resulting from the explosions, the effects
04:17of the accumulated gases and the severe damage caused, as well as the real danger of landslides
04:22due to the structural damage to the site, it has not been possible to reach the location
04:29of the 13 comrades who heroically faced the incident in order to prevent it from spreading.
04:35The communiqué also states that,
04:37Based on the work carried out and the analysis of the specialists, the ministerial commission
04:43created by order of the Minister of the Armed Forces to conduct the corresponding investigation,
04:49together with the competent investigative bodies, came to the conclusion that the accident
04:54site is inaccessible and therefore there is no possibility of life at the site.
05:05Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel offered his condolences to the families of those who
05:09died in the accident that occurred in a construction site that stored war material in the province
05:15of Holguín.
05:16The Cuban President detailed that it deeply hurts to confirm the death of officers, non-commissioned
05:22officers and soldiers who heroically faced the accident in a construction site that stored
05:28war material in the military region of Holguín.
05:31I send my heartfelt condolences to their families and friends.
05:35They died heroically and, as heroes, they deserve our most heartfelt homage and the
05:41accompaniment of their loved ones in the pain of their loss.
05:49In the United States, activists from the Code Pink organization interrupted the confirmation
05:54hearing for Florida's Senator Marco Rubio, who was nominated by President-elect Donald
05:59Trump to become Secretary of State.
06:02Demonstrators rejected Rubio's nomination and denounced his support to coercive sanctions
06:07against several Latin American countries.
06:10We were in the Marco Rubio hearing and three courageous activists from Code Pink got up
06:15to say that Marco Rubio is no diplomat, he's a war hawk, he's an interventionist.
06:20They talked about him supporting the interventions in Latin America, the brutal sanctions in
06:25Latin America that have led to people going hungry and being forced to migrate.
06:31We need support for the war in Israel and that what we need is a real diplomat who will
06:37stop using militarism and interventionism and instead really be a diplomat and that
06:43is not Marco Rubio.
06:44The President of Mexico, Claudia Chambon, assured that the war against drug trafficking
06:49declared by former President Felipe Carderon in 2006 was an irresponsible decision.
06:54According to Mexican President Calderon's decision to declare war in the country was
06:59the most authoritarian decision in the country's history.
07:02In this context, Chambon highlighted that the former president's strategy consisted
07:07of violating the rights of citizens by promoting extrajudicial executions, corruption and drug
07:12trafficking.
07:13In addition, the head of government highlighted that with the arrival of the Fourth Transformation
07:18to Power, there was a change in state policies to address the situation of organized crime
07:24and drug trafficking, providing opportunities for young Mexicans.
07:29It is one of the most irresponsible decisions ever made by a person who became president,
07:38as you rightly said, through electoral fraud, first of all, who has ever declared a war
07:42in his own country.
07:52War means permission to kill, I have said it several times.
07:55To declare a war means that the laws take second place and that there is a regime of
07:59exception.
08:09It should be clear for all those who talk about the rule of law, those who fill their
08:13mouths talking about the rule of law, rule of law, and that there is authoritarianism
08:18in Mexico.
08:26And actually, in the end, the most authoritarian and irresponsible decision that has ever been
08:31taken in the last presidential terms was Calderón's decision to declare war.
08:39Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele defended the reactivation of metallic mining on the
08:43grounds that if the river gets polluted due to his project, it is because they are clean.
08:49For its negative consequences, the Salvadoran legislation banned the practice that Bukele
08:54is now willing to reactivate.
08:56The president categorically assured that mining is not linked to the river's pollution, but
09:01showed no scientific evidence of this criteria.
09:05In contrast, studies endorsed by the United Nations unfolded that 90% of industrial extractive
09:11operations used sign need.
09:14That is why experts have asked the executive and the legislature to disregard this initiative.
09:23And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at

09:31We'll be right back, stay with us.
09:41Welcome back to From the South.
09:49The government of China condemns U.S. sanctions against more than 30 national companies.
09:54Companies belonging to the mining, solar and textile sectors were included in a list that
09:58bans them from exporting to Washington due to suspicions of forced labor.
10:04In this regard, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiangkun pointed out that the United States'
10:09goal is to interfere in the internal affairs and cause damage to China's interests.
10:15As a result, China reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to safeguard the legitimate and legal rights
10:20and interests of domestic enterprises.
10:27This Tuesday, after the diplomatic visit of the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin
10:32to Vietnam, it was announced that Russia will support the country's accession to the BRICS.
10:38Also Russia informed that it is ready to participate in the creation of the nuclear power sector
10:43of Vietnam.
10:44Alexei Leshchakov, General Director of Russian State Corporation Rosatom, praised Vietnam's
10:50decision to return to the Ninh Tuan-1 nuclear power plant project, agreed by Moscow in 2010
10:58and rejected by Hanoi in 2015.
11:02Russia has also offered energy supplies to the Asian nations, such as oil and liquefied
11:07natural gas.
11:16Units of the Western Combat Group of the Russian Army liberated two important communities in
11:20Donetsk on Wednesday.
11:22This was announced on Wednesday by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
11:26It concerns the communities of Tersky and Neshusknoe, the Ukrainian troops lost in the
11:32final battle at least 600 troops and three ammunition depots in the Kharkov region.
11:38Moreover, four electronic warfare stations were reportedly destroyed, along with severe
11:43damage caused by two mechanized brigades.
11:55Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has banned members of the executive from negotiating
12:00with Russian political leaders.
12:02The foreign ministry reiterated that talks with Moscow in any format were not under consideration.
12:07Meanwhile, Kyiv is waiting for official contact with the new US administration to be established
12:14before meeting with President Donald Trump to discuss the next step towards conflict
12:19resolutions.
12:20Ukraine insists on becoming a member of NATO under the pretext of a possible warranty of
12:25peace and security for the country.
12:31United Kingdom non-governmental organizations criticized the government for maintaining
12:36the sale of aircraft parts to Israel despite their possible use to commit military crimes
12:41against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
12:44The members of these organizations made a statement in which they denounced that the
12:48government prioritizes international defense obligations over the possible misuse of aircraft
12:54by Israel in bombing the Palestinian civilian population.
12:58In this sense, they condemned that despite the fact that the United Kingdom is aware
13:02of this possibility, it continues to export the components.
13:07They also accused London of showing total disregard for Palestinian lives after the
13:12London government published a document in which it reiterated that no human rights concerns
13:18can override its commitment to supply the pieces.
