00:00Welcome back to From the South, and we will continue in Venezuela, where the World Loaf
00:09Fascist Festival continues on its last day, a day after the inauguration of President
00:15Nicolás Maduro for the term 2025-2031.
00:19Our special envoy, Juno Sonner, has all the details, and he's live from Caracas.
00:25Welcome, Juno.
00:26Hello.
00:28Hello, good afternoon from the La Carota Convention Center.
00:32It's a little bit noisy around me, loud music, because President Nicolás Maduro has just
00:39arrived at this convention center, I'm informed.
00:43Or it is expected to arrive.
00:46But let's take a moment still to discuss with our special guest here the situation
00:53of fascism, global fascism.
00:58And we have a guest here that is from Greece.
01:04We have the guest, Aris Georgios.
01:08Thank you very much for joining us.
01:10Fascism is a huge topic in Europe as well.
01:14How do you perceive fascism from a Greek perspective?
01:20Well, Greece is known for its democracy, for its ancient times, but in modern times Greece
01:26has been a victim of fascism.
01:28It has been a victim of Nazi German occupation and their collaborators and military dictatorships
01:34later.
01:35So we have a very clear outlook on fascism and the imposing of imperialism and fascism
01:43in Greece from abroad.
01:46Now in Europe there is an emerging far right which has a totally new characteristic.
01:51They are trying to hide and abolish their neo-fascist roots, but still they support
02:00anti-immigration, Zionism, racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, machismo, sexismo and so on.
02:11So at this moment I think that this congress is really inspiring.
02:15That was exactly what I was going to ask you about.
02:19How is your impression about this international, anti-fascist international?
02:23You see, in one word, inspiring.
02:26So at the same time when you have the neo-liberal globalization which is the status quo of things
02:34for the past 20 years and at the same time you have an emerging global far right that
02:40has, as I said, new characteristics.
02:42It's very important to note that there are countries that resist imperialism and fascism
02:49such as Venezuela and also to meet each other and give support and receive support from
02:58one another, all the comrades from all the countries that resist.
03:02I mean, I can only say that I've gained so much and I've gained so much courage from
03:08this congress and we welcome the hospitality.
03:11Thank you very much.
03:12Thank you very much.
03:13Now this is an impression that our guest has expressed, but that we also got from other
03:19people, other participants, delegates here on the conference that the existence and the
03:26victory of the Bolivarian revolution here in Venezuela has influences, has consequences
03:34beyond its borders providing hope.
03:37Venezuela has with this conference itself established as a center of global fight against
03:44fascism which this congress, this international global festival has emphasized and showed,
03:52displayed once again.
03:53You have the word.
03:55Thank you, Yunus, for the information and also the special guest that we have today.
04:01Thank you very much.

05:21According to their government media office in the Gaza Strip, since some 203 journalists
05:27have been killed by Israel since October 7, 2023.
05:32This is a known policy used by the Israeli occupation.
05:39It, Israel, cannot rest as long as Palestinian journalists continue to expose its crimes
05:45to the world.
05:46We, as journalists, are demanding the protection that is supposed to be a guaranteed.
05:56We wear a press vest, yet we still find no protection or an environment conducive for
06:01us to do our job.
06:04We are being directly targeted, as it was the case with Said and many other colleagues
06:09who were martyred over the past 15 months of this Israeli war.
