New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has missed the first two matches of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign -- in the wins against England and the Netherlands. The 33-year-old, according to reports, was still recuperating from a knee injury that he sustained in March, in the opening match of IPL 2023. After New Zealand's 99-run win against the Dutch on Monday (October 9) in Hyderabad, Kiwi spinner Mitchell Santner revealed that Williamson was hitting a lot of balls in the nets and the management will make a call soon. 00:04 Yeah, no, Kane's looking good.
00:08 He's hitting a lot of balls in the nets,
00:10 and I don't think he was obviously quite fit tonight.
00:14 We've still got a few days before the next game,
00:16 couple more training.
00:17 So I guess the team will make a call then if he's ready to play,
00:23 but yeah, he's chomping at the bit.
00:26 He wants to come in.
00:29 But I guess it's more down to the medical team
00:31 and where they think he's at.
00:34 But yeah, no doubt when he comes back,
00:37 it's going to be good for us.
