00:00:00Welcome to the Football Show on PLZ Soccer's YouTube channel. I'm Peter Martin. It's a
00:00:08sunny Friday. You should be in a good mood. Everybody in the studio is in a good mood
00:00:12because Gordon Parks is here with us, smiling, ready to be opinionated and knowing he's getting
00:00:17a lift home from Ruffy before this show ends, which always puts him in a good mood.
00:00:22It does start at £3.80.
00:00:24Thank you to you for following us. And of course, the feedback throughout the season,
00:00:30your support has been absolutely immense. And over and above that, we give you the chance
00:00:36not only to enjoy all of our content free, but we are offering you a chance to sign up
00:00:41to PLZ Premium as well. And if you sign up to Premium, you'll get additional content,
00:00:46some exclusive stuff. You'll get discount on our shop. You'll also get the opportunity
00:00:51to get yourself a poster if you're part of the First Thousand, a Legends poster will be
00:00:55on its way to you. And we've got other great features for you within PLZ Premium, but our
00:01:02main core of content that you've been watching throughout the season, that remains absolutely
00:01:07free. So with that in mind, lots to talk about. One man live waiting outside Ibrox is of course
00:01:13our reporter Blair Malloy. Blair was at the Rangers press conference today listening to the words
00:01:20of Barry Ferguson. Blair, first and foremost, Rangers fans getting ever excited. They've
00:01:25heard Dave King on TalkSport saying 90% probability now getting close to a takeover for the summer.
00:01:33Yes, good afternoon, Peter. It's a gloriously sunny day here at Ibrox. Not quite been so bright
00:01:38on the park recently. Rangers looking to put an end to seven games without a win here at Ibrox
00:01:43against Aberdeen on Sunday. And it was pre-match of that game we were speaking to Barry Ferguson
00:01:48this afternoon. Of course, everything dominated in the headlines, like you see this week by
00:01:54that takeover. And Rangers looking for perhaps brighter days ahead. Dave King coming out saying
00:01:59that it's 90% of the way there. So I think we can all safely assume that the American takeover
00:02:04will be happening here at Ibrox. But Barry Ferguson's message over the last wee while has been
00:02:10all about how things need to get moving, particularly quickly. The key date today that was spoken
00:02:15about is the 22nd of July. That is when Rangers will play their first Champions League qualifying
00:02:21game. And that is when things will have to be in motion by. One of the things that would
00:02:26definitely be on the lips of all supporters and on the minds of everyone round about Ibrox
00:02:31here is who they can bring in in the summer. And you'd have to think that with Kevin Fairwell
00:02:36in the door already. But that will already, the wheels be in motion for who might join
00:02:40here at Ibrox for this revolution. Barry was asked about that this afternoon. He's asked
00:02:46about his relationship with Kevin Fairwell, whether he was having an input into this particular
00:02:51list that may be drawn up of targets. He said, quite surprisingly, I must say, he's only
00:02:56had one conversation with Kevin Fairwell so far. So that may put a direction into some
00:03:02Rangers fans' mind whether Barry will be considered for this job. Personally, I think it looks like
00:03:07it's going to an outside name. We've heard names this week, such as Danny Roll leaving
00:03:12Sheffield Wednesday. He's been a man that the Red Bull group have liked before. He's been
00:03:17linked with the job. Another one that I find particularly interesting, Marco Rosa. He's another
00:03:21man who the Red Bull group have been involved with before. So it's all about takeover chat here
00:03:26with Rangers. As we say, moving forward, Barry Ferguson made another interesting point today
00:03:32that he believes that with one good summer of recruitment, Rangers can be able to bridge
00:03:38that gap towards Celtic if they get it right. But they're going to have to get it right off
00:03:42the park and on it moving into the closed season.
00:03:46And above that, Blair, a lot has been made of when those decisions will be made. Barry reckons
00:03:52it's sooner rather than later would help everybody. But you have to wait till all the
00:03:57contracts, the I's have been dotted, the T's have been crossed before you get any movement
00:04:03on players coming in. But there'll be a few players going out. There's one in particular
00:04:08that looks as if he's maybe kicked his last ball for Rangers.
00:04:11Very much so, Peter. It looks as though it's going to be a summer of transition here at
00:04:17Ibrox. And the man you're making mention of there, Yanis Hadji. Barry Ferguson confirming
00:04:22this afternoon that he is out for the season. The Romanian has played his last game for Rangers
00:04:27for this season. And maybe his last game the Rangers shut for good. He's a player that's
00:04:32out of contract. And perhaps that could be goodbye to Yanis Hadji. And maybe perhaps a
00:04:37sad end to the Yanis Hadji tale here at Ibrox. It started oh so prominently with those two
00:04:43goals. And that spectacular night for Rangers fans against Braga a few years ago. Of course,
00:04:49he fell out of favour, went on loan to Alaves, came back. And a lot of Rangers fans thought
00:04:53that might be the making of him. He might get a second chance. But it hasn't really kicked
00:04:57on here at Ibrox. And that could be the end of Yanis Hadji here. Another point that was
00:05:02brought up today in the Barry Ferguson press conference. He was asked about that controversial
00:05:07moment in the Old Firm game when missiles were directed towards the goalkeeper Sinisalo.
00:05:12He condemned the Rangers fans who threw things onto the park. He said, we don't want to see
00:05:18that in our game. And we don't want to go back, crucially, in the Old Firm games to having
00:05:22no away fans. We don't want any restrictions. We want to keep moving forward with this derby
00:05:27back to the way it was. He even said that when he was at Fenerbahce away in Turkey with
00:05:32Rangers, he had things flying over his head. And he said it's not nice for anyone to be
00:05:37involved with. And he said that he wouldn't want to see that at any games going forward.
00:05:42Yeah, thanks to Blair out there at Ibrox. He's been speaking to the Rangers camp ahead of
00:05:46that crucial match against Aberdeen. That will take place on Sunday. If you want to hear more
00:05:53from Barry Ferguson, you can right across all of our social media. We'll get the thoughts
00:05:57of the guys here just shortly. Here's also what we'll be talking about on today's show.
00:06:01Coming up on today's show, brought to you by Arnold Clarke Rewards. Barry Ferguson calls
00:06:08for more clarity as for who will take the club forward from the managerial seat next season.
00:06:14Celtic keeper Viliami Sinasalo hits out at fans throwing objects at Ibrox.
00:06:21Ex-Hearts boss Stephen Naismith reacts to Tony Bloom's £10 million investment.
00:06:27And finally, Ange Postacoglu claims doubter's fair Tottenham Trophy win.
00:06:31Yeah, lots of things to talk about. What did you make of what Blair had to say there with
00:06:37regards to, obviously the fans are getting more and more excited. They can see the change that's
00:06:43going to come at boardroom level. Yeah, I think they must be excited. You know, obviously the
00:06:47reports are this club have got a great history and the clubs that they've taken over, they've done
00:06:53particularly well. But I think the biggest question is how much is it going to cost to come in and how
00:06:58much is it going to be to change things? You know, a lot of fans are thinking, oh, there's
00:07:01£100 million thrown about here. So until we get a figure, we'll see what they've got to
00:07:07play with and what kind of quality of player they're bringing in.
00:07:10Yeah, and of course, those decisions will only be made when you've actually got the key figures
00:07:17in place. Although Kevin Thelwell's there at the moment, he'll be making moves in the background
00:07:22undoubtedly. And Barry Ferguson, the manager, fairly philosophical about it all. He's not
00:07:27going to concern himself too much. He's said his piece on what he thinks should be happening
00:07:33quicker at Ibrox, but he's going to have to wait.
00:07:36I just had a conversation in terms of how I've seen it since I've been in the door, since
00:07:44the 24th of February. Obviously, that will remain quiet, remain private, sorry should I say
00:07:49that what we've discussed, but since then, nothing. So I'm not going to go and cry in
00:07:57a corner. I need to be as professional as possible as I mentioned before and make sure
00:08:02that I do my job to the best of my ability.
00:08:05Yeah, there is that element of uncertainty, but there's an element of uncertainty for not
00:08:10only managers who are waiting to see where they're going to finish up in every league across
00:08:14the whole of the European football and beyond, to be perfectly honest with you. But the
00:08:19players as well face a summer of uncertainty, a lot of them at Ibrox.
00:08:24Barry's spoken about the fact that these are games now that certainly the last month or
00:08:28so, this is proving ground for Rangers players. They've got to appreciate that the failures
00:08:32that have been well documented will come with consequence and the consequence will be that
00:08:38there'll be a revolution. Blair spoke about the world and I think there has to be, but it
00:08:42has to get done quickly. I think the announcement will get pushed forward as quick as possible
00:08:46because the revamp, the surgery that needs to be done is quite, I mean, it's going to
00:08:51be large, it's going to be an exodus, but how do you get players out that are sitting in
00:08:55contracts that are heavy contracts for guys that have delivered very little? Why would
00:09:00they move to a contract that's going to be less? Why would they move to clubs when there's
00:09:04not a big stampede to get any of them? I think you're right, across Europe it's nervous
00:09:10for any player. Contracts now generally are short term ones, very few players get longer
00:09:16term ones and I think there will be a mass exodus to the point where they can get too many players
00:09:23out that they possibly can.
00:09:24It doesn't take a genius to work out that Hadji is probably on his way. I thought if you look
00:09:29back over the course of the year and the season, I thought Rangers didn't really cover themselves
00:09:36in glory with that whole mess with Hadji, you know, at times when he really should have
00:09:40been in the side and financial aspects of it may well have dictated it, clauses in the
00:09:47contract that we're not privy to, Ruffy, but nevertheless, I don't think it takes a genius
00:09:51to know that he'll be looking elsewhere to go and sign a deal.
00:09:53I don't think he'll have a problem. You know, I think there's a lot of clubs that have been
00:09:56looking at him, you know, trying to get him in the windows and when he came back to Rangers
00:10:01he thought, well, maybe I'll get a wee run here. Obviously that hasn't happened so it'll
00:10:05open again for his agent to explore what other clubs are out there. The thing I kept thinking
00:10:11was who's going to make the decision? If Barry's not going to get the manager, who's going to
00:10:14make the decision of what players leave? Because there's nobody who's seen them all year but
00:10:19Barry, if you know what I mean.
00:10:21Yeah, but there is a consultancy process in a general view.
00:10:25I know, but it'd be interesting to see who is making the decision of who's going and who's
00:10:29not. Yeah, I would suggest to you at this moment that Barry will be consulted. The backroom
00:10:35team, everybody will have a look at the players, assess the contracts, assess what money they're
00:10:40on, talk to Kevin Thelwell. Kevin Thelwell will look at the whole thing and say to himself,
00:10:45right, here is the dossier I'm going to hand to the new man. It's a quick turnaround, it's
00:10:50not ideal, but here it is.
00:10:52You can simplify the process by saying how many players do you want to keep and that makes
00:10:56it easier. I disagree with you, Hadji. Hadji's moments in the Rangers jersey were few and
00:11:00far between. His impact ratio for goals and assists was really poor. He's a very talented
00:11:06player. Once he's on his left foot, you can see there's quality there. Again, I don't
00:11:09think it'll be a stampede to take him. I think a lot of the stuff that you get about clubs
00:11:14that are looking to take him comes from his dad.
00:11:15I think if you're identifying who actually you don't want to keep, it makes it much easier
00:11:23to look at who you want to keep and there's very, very few.
00:11:26Yeah. Don't disagree with Ruffy too often. Well, Gordon Smith did it on a regular basis
00:11:32and then Ruffy demanded that he was milleted right out the door. That's the type of thing
00:11:35that Ruffy does. He's ruthless. I just, just the way you looked at him there, I thought,
00:11:39oh, he wasn't ruthless when he kept me keeping the ball out the net.
00:11:42You're giving the legend that cold stare. I just thought, Ruffy, he's for the off, isn't
00:11:46he?
00:11:47No, no.
00:11:48And you're in the chair which McManus uses, which is for Twitter feed posts that you don't
00:11:55want to answer anybody back on. So he's got the right man on the job there. Thanks to
00:11:58so many people who are obviously joining us on our feed. And Anne would say, Barry knows
00:12:04he's not getting it. Yeah, absolutely. And also, Brian, who's completely and utterly obsessed
00:12:11with PLZ's stance on Barry Ferguson. Can PLZ just not admit he's not good enough for the
00:12:16job? He won't be appointed. It'll be someone from England or foreign lands. There you are.
00:12:22That's a classic way for Brian to say, I told you it was Europe or somebody from England.
00:12:28There you have it. No, I think the general consensus is Rangers, Kevin Thirlwell has got
00:12:34to look and scour the market based on a takeover. If the takeover happens, his whole remit might
00:12:42change. His whole group of managers that he potentially wants to go and get could change
00:12:48dramatically. We don't know the detail. We don't know the budget. We don't know how much
00:12:52done, how much work investment needs to be put in infrastructure-wise. Off the pitch, it's
00:12:58going to be clearly there has to be money put in, injected in and how much has that swallowed
00:13:01up the playing budget. The detail is what the Rangers fans are waiting to hear. The expectation
00:13:07levels will be based on that. They might be disappointed because how much money do you think is it going to take
00:13:13for Rangers then to get themselves into a state that they're a credible force again? Maybe
00:13:17a lot more than Rangers fans think.
00:13:19Yeah. I mean, listen, at the end of the day, way back in 2000 when somebody said to Martin
00:13:25O'Neill, it's going to take you five years to turn around Celtic to catch, to catch Rangers.
00:13:32It took him three games. You know, it took him three games and five minutes where Chris Sutton
00:13:36had scored in a game that suddenly the whole of the Celtic fans and everybody started to believe.
00:13:42And then they ended up winning the treble. So it can happen. It's all about recruitment.
00:13:49It's all about using that money wisely. And by the way, remember, we're not talking about a complete
00:13:56turnaround where the other team are unbelievably weak. When Martin O'Neill did it, Rangers had some
00:14:02team. They were a really good team. So it can happen roughly, but it needs certain elements in place.
00:14:09Maybe it's a good sporting director. Maybe it's the right type of recruitment. Maybe it's a sufficient amount
00:14:14in a budget. Because it doesn't need... Some people will go, it needs a hundred million and you need to buy
00:14:20nine players.
00:14:22It's the right players.
00:14:24I know, but even if they're right players, can you see them suddenly being...
00:14:27You can cost cut with a mentality change and a mindset. That can be powerful.
00:14:31Martin O'Neill's team was mentally so strong and that really was the catalyst for the success,
00:14:37the belief they had.
00:14:39And you have to re-educate that Rangers restroom on how to go and win games.
00:14:43Because the mindset's wrong and it has been for a long time.
00:14:46This is not just this season. It trails back season after season after season.
00:14:50If you bring in a charismatic, dynamic manager who changes the mentality around Ibrox,
00:14:58I think that's your primary goal because you can achieve great things with that.
00:15:01As Ruffey says, it's the recruitment.
00:15:04Yeah, over and above that. I think... Do you remember Ruffey back in January?
00:15:07We went through the team and I kept three. I think I kept three.
00:15:11And you all... Hang on, I get slaughtered by more than a few on it. I kept three.
00:15:15Who did you keep?
00:15:17I'm going to tell you something, I couldn't even nail it down now.
00:15:21But it wasn't a lot of players that I thought were impressive enough.
00:15:27Because, quite simply, they just haven't been able to do the business.
00:15:32Simple as that.
00:15:33But you can give us your thoughts.
00:15:36Never mind speculating on the manager because you'd be as well going into a darkened room
00:15:40and just picking out one of the cards on the Panini sticker album
00:15:43because everybody's been mentioned.
00:15:45I think the new manager will have a Red Bull influence.
00:15:48And the other teams that they have owned by Red Bull,
00:15:51they've obviously been bringing in managers
00:15:54and they've obviously got a list of managers that they've been using
00:15:57in all their Red Bull teams.
00:15:58Whoever has identified the profile of that person is a contact-based guy
00:16:02because it's all about recruitment and that person has to have access
00:16:05to players that Rangers probably could not reach.
00:16:08So that will be a massive factor in who they identify.
00:16:11OK, they're playing against Aberdeen.
00:16:15And this one is a situation where Aberdeen will have to come to Glasgow
00:16:20and, I think, have to win Ruffy.
00:16:23Because this battle with Hibs, Hibs have got a better goal difference.
00:16:27And I think they're going to have to step up there.
00:16:29Jimmy Tallinn was going to have to convince those players that they can do something at Ibrox.
00:16:35Yeah, I mean, that's what they have to do.
00:16:37They've got to convince them they can come down to Celtic Rangers and take something.
00:16:41You know, they've had a really bad run.
00:16:44They're on a decent run now.
00:16:46They're picking up points.
00:16:47There'll be a wee bit of confidence within the camp to come down.
00:16:50They'll look at the Rangers' seven defeats, which is unheard of.
00:16:56So they'll come down confident, but they still have to perform on the part
00:17:01because I think Rangers, as they proved last week, they've still got something to offer.
00:17:06And, obviously, the supporters will be there and they'll be demanding a win.
00:17:09Yeah, seven without a win for Rangers at home.
00:17:13As far as Aberdeen are concerned, their manager is Manager of the Month.
00:17:18So, Partsley and I have been at eight million press conferences
00:17:22where the manager pays tribute to the team.
00:17:25And this little clip here is no different.
00:17:28I think that's a reward for the work we do inside the club.
00:17:35My job as a manager is to see everybody feel important,
00:17:40that they have a big role to play.
00:17:42And I think the manager is one thing, but then it's a teamwork.
00:17:50Like I said, there's a collective game of football, but also around the team.
00:17:53Yeah, I've heard that many a time. I'd love a manager to say, you know what?
00:17:58It was all me.
00:18:00It was all me. I really turned it around with this team.
00:18:03But, Jimmy Tallin, never wavered since the day now he came in.
00:18:07He's been absolutely deadpan, you know, in the highs and in the lows.
00:18:12He's kept that same monotone reaction to anything that's coming his way.
00:18:19Can they go to Ibrox and win?
00:18:21I remember going after a match presser and Kilmarnock had turned over.
00:18:26A poor, poor Aberdeen team and Jimmy coming after the game.
00:18:30And I said to him, is it time to go and show your fangs?
00:18:34Raise your voice?
00:18:35You've got a different kind of fear factor in your dressing room
00:18:39because that was really poor.
00:18:40And again, sedate, calm, gave you the look as if I'll do what I want.
00:18:47And that's his method.
00:18:49He has to go and get something, he has to get a bark out of his team on Sunday
00:18:52because they've been, listen, they've been better.
00:18:57They're still a really fallible team.
00:18:59They were worked out quickly after the brilliant run.
00:19:01That's a watershed, that's gone.
00:19:03You have to go to Glasgow against a vulnerable Rangers team and deliver.
00:19:06Can they do that? Why not?
00:19:10If it was me and I'm part of that Aberdeen squad,
00:19:13I'm looking for the scalp and I believe that I'm going to get it.
00:19:16Okay, I don't believe they're going to do it, do you?
00:19:18No.
00:19:19Right, okay.
00:19:20Roughly.
00:19:21No, I think Rangers showed in bits against Celtic last week
00:19:25with the home advantage support behind them.
00:19:28I don't think Aberdeen are there yet to go and win.
00:19:31So I'm going to go Rangers to 1-2-1.
00:19:33Yep, I'll go there as well. Parsi?
00:19:35Aberdeen can get a draw from that game.
00:19:37Okay. Nisbet, players player of the year at Bataudry,
00:19:41the club's player of the year.
00:19:42Is there a catch chance in hell of him coming back next season?
00:19:45I hope so.
00:19:46Yeah, I'd like to see him.
00:19:47He's better than what they've got.
00:19:49Yeah, I'd like to see him with a full pre-season as well.
00:19:52Just one little footnote.
00:19:54Rangers now want to actually put into place a formal approval of any TIFO in the ground, Ruffy,
00:20:05and I think that's a step ahead, but really something that should have been in place a long time ago.
00:20:10I'm amazed that that comment has to be made.
00:20:14Yeah, I think we've sat in the show all season wondering how that happens.
00:20:18You know, you would like to think they go through a proper procedure for a whole stand to buy into a TIFO like that.
00:20:25You know, that we keep talking about how did the security stop it.
00:20:30I saw a clip somewhere that a security guy was taking a flag off the Celtic supporters.
00:20:36A flag? Is this bigger than a flag?
00:20:38It's a plaggy-plag.
00:20:40He said, you're not going in there with that, but he was fighting with him, you know, to get it off him.
00:20:44So that's what we want to see.
00:20:46Did you see Dessers scored in the security guard, jumped on the pitch and celebrated with him?
00:20:53Did you see that on Sunday?
00:20:55Yeah.
00:20:56They need to keep their eye on the ball, they need to keep their eye on the stands.
00:20:58Yeah, absolutely.
00:20:59There's a problem.
00:21:00I've seen players celebrating goals, police celebrating goals as well.
00:21:04Raise my flags.
00:21:06There's more than a few.
00:21:08I thought about the boy from Milan was leaving the stadium when he scored the other night.
00:21:12He jumped at the bat and he's up the fence.
00:21:14Yeah, exactly.
00:21:15We'll talk about that a little later on, Ruffy.
00:21:17Try not to read the complete script before I do it.
00:21:20As far as the games are concerned, here's a wee look at what you've got on offer with regards to the football this weekend.
00:21:27Of course, we did touch on Rangers against Aberdeen.
00:21:30Celtic are going to take on Hibs.
00:21:33We've got Dundee United against St Mirren, which we're going to discuss.
00:21:37Hearts against Motherwell, with the obvious who's going to be the manager.
00:21:40Kilmarnock against Dundee.
00:21:42St Johnstone against Ross County.
00:21:44It's the trapdoor staring at you.
00:21:48We'll get the thoughts on that as well.
00:21:50We'll probably look at something in the championship playoff and talk about the teams who are making it into the European finals.
00:21:58The Champions League final we now know after one of the best games that I think you're ever likely to witness in many a decade between Inter and Barcelona.
00:22:07A lot of things to talk about.
00:22:08Give us your thoughts on that as well.
00:22:10And don't forget, if you like what we're doing and you want to see more exclusive content, all of the stuff we do now is free.
00:22:17But there's a new launch of PLZ Premium.
00:22:19You can click on that.
00:22:21And we've got news coming up, which will give you a chance to come to one of our events.
00:22:25We're going to be talking to legends, managers, players, past and present on the roads and evening with.
00:22:33We'll have lots of players and managers from north and south of the border at these events.
00:22:38And the next one up is the 14th of June with Gordon Strachan and Martin O'Neill.
00:22:43We're talking Aberdeen, talking Manchester United, Norringham Forest, Clough, Sir Alex Ferguson, of course, their time as Celtic manager as well.
00:22:51It's going to be a great night.
00:22:5214th of June.
00:22:54All you have to do is look at the link that we have on our YouTube channel.
00:22:59Click on that.
00:23:00And if you're on Twitter, we will post it out as well to allow you the opportunity to click and get yourself some tickets for a good night.
00:23:07Really looking forward to it.
00:23:08So with that in mind, Celtic against Hibbs.
00:23:12Sinisalo was talking today roughly about the objects that were thrown at him.
00:23:18I know Barry Ferguson has condemned people who would throw anything from the stands.
00:23:21And that's again to the great credit of the Rangers manager not dodging the issue.
00:23:26Sinisalo says, first of all, I was hit with something not in my upper body, somewhere in my lower leg.
00:23:32It wasn't just a bottle.
00:23:33It was lighters, vapes, coins, mugs.
00:23:36If that glass bottle hits me, what happens then?
00:23:39What if it hits you in the eye and you can't play football after that?
00:23:42What happens then?
00:23:43I don't know how people identify who it is because there's lots of people throwing them.
00:23:48There was 30 or 40 objects on the pitch.
00:23:52And that tells you all you need to know because sometimes along the way when we talk about games involving teams, you know, it's almost as if some broadcasters drop into the cliche of it's the minority.
00:24:07When you get 30 or 40 morons throwing stuff, hopefully the police at a later date on inspection of the CCTV arrest them and then alert the club to ban them.
00:24:17It's nightfall as day, that should be the protocol.
00:24:20I mean, how difficult surely can it be to identify somebody throwing a bottle?
00:24:25And you have to, I think, go large on it, document exactly what the punishment is, enforce it, enforce it en masse.
00:24:34Surely they can pan in on the culprits, deal with them effectively and the deterrent then is if you do it, you will be caught.
00:24:44This is perennial.
00:24:45How many times have I been talking about the same thing?
00:24:47You have to act on it decisively, make a big show so nobody's in any doubt.
00:24:52If you get antisocial thoughts or behaviours, you're going to get harshly dealt with.
00:24:57It's a problem if you've actually got to talk it, but morons do what morons do.
00:25:01But they have to have consequence.
00:25:03It's not as if you're going to talk about it from when Ruffy was playing in the 70s and then when it moved into the 80s.
00:25:10There was a lot of real hard-edged hooliganism right across the board.
00:25:15Has it got any better yet?
00:25:17Certainly the conduct on the platform or social media has given a lot of people that you would never have heard from in normal life
00:25:24allow themselves to, allow us to have to put up with some of the verbal nonsense that goes on.
00:25:32But they're still hooligans who go to games and think it's okay to throw something.
00:25:36I think we have to congratulate the company who found out the boy who did the 66 and they sacked him.
00:25:44Yeah.
00:25:45He's lost his job.
00:25:46That's great.
00:25:47That's what you want to see, things like that happening.
00:25:49It just shows you how easy it can be done.
00:25:51Full page, you know, about the story.
00:25:54You would like to think that people run about and we're going, oh wait a wee minute.
00:25:57You know, this could be me.
00:25:58Yeah.
00:25:59Would you like to see Naming Shame?
00:26:00Yeah, definitely.
00:26:01Yeah.
00:26:02They have done it on major news channels before Parsi.
00:26:05Peter, if you're of the mindset to go and get a bottle and throw it at someone, then you have to get hit with every consequence possible.
00:26:14Naming the shame is a trivial issue.
00:26:17Punish them legally.
00:26:18It's a jailing offence if you do it in Suggie Hall Street.
00:26:21And I think you have to set the standard higher.
00:26:24And I don't think Scottish football has really delivered on that.
00:26:27Okay.
00:26:28Celtic against Hibs.
00:26:29Johnston, Cameron, Carter-Vickers out.
00:26:32Schmeichel available.
00:26:34And Coon is back, which begs the question, with three games remaining, the title in the bag,
00:26:41some people actually look and say to themselves, well, wait a minute.
00:26:44You know, is this a chance to blood some youngsters?
00:26:47Is there a chance to roll out Johnny Kenny?
00:26:49Or, if you do that, suddenly some of the key players are going to be playing in the Scottish Cup final,
00:26:54we'll be thinking, I'm a bit rusty here, I need games.
00:26:57No.
00:26:58At this stage of the season, great opportunity to give players a bit of a rest.
00:27:01Also, more importantly, Celtic invest a lot of money in their academy.
00:27:06A chance to go and let these players go and showcase.
00:27:09If it was me, flood the team with youngsters.
00:27:12Ruffy?
00:27:13I think I'd flood them.
00:27:15Well, I've got to say to you, flood the team with youngsters, suddenly gives Hibs third place.
00:27:19I prefer that, but that's not Celtic's concern.
00:27:21There are certain positions in the Celtic team that you could put youngsters in.
00:27:25I don't know why he doesn't wrap up Callum McGregor, you know, and give the guy a break.
00:27:30You know, he's played in so many games this year.
00:27:32Up front, you know, obviously, the young boy Kenny that you mentioned there, he was good
00:27:38enough to get thrown on against Rangers at Highbrook, so why not give him a shout?
00:27:43Yeah.
00:27:44And there will be other boys.
00:27:45Who was the boy who got a chance in the pre-season over in America when he played Chelsea?
00:27:50I haven't seen him for a wee while.
00:27:51Yeah, give us his exact name roughly.
00:27:53No, I'm not kidding.
00:27:54I can't remember his name.
00:27:56The benefit of these things, I remember Ciaran Tierney, the catalyst for him being a success
00:28:01at Celtic was by coincidence, right?
00:28:03He even talks about getting elevated into a game that he never thought he would ever play
00:28:08in.
00:28:09Good Tony, what?
00:28:10There you go.
00:28:11So you're only ever going to find out if you give these guys a chance, and there's nothing
00:28:16to lose.
00:28:17Yeah, absolutely.
00:28:18There's certainly something to lose for Hibs.
00:28:20There is.
00:28:21They want to try in the three games they've got remaining.
00:28:23It's not going to be easier to get Celtic and St Mirren away, and then they're at home
00:28:28to Rangers.
00:28:29They're three points ahead of Aberdeen, knowing full well that maybe things might not change
00:28:35unless Aberdeen produce something special at Ibrox.
00:28:38Hibs are going to have to produce something.
00:28:40I mean, I think, potentially, if Hibs were to get a point at Celtic Park, they'd be absolutely
00:28:48buzzing because I think that would be just that final little point that they need.
00:28:52The motivation and the momentum against a team that have got nothing other than a performance
00:28:59to play for, I think can go and allow Hibs to go and have a go and achieve the point that,
00:29:05as you say, is a critical point.
00:29:08That could be enough.
00:29:09Yeah.
00:29:10Contract talks with Marston Boyle, 32.
00:29:13Would you give him an extension?
00:29:15Yeah, I think he's proved the latter part of the season that he's a big player for Hibs
00:29:20when they're playing the way they are.
00:29:22I think he'll want to stay.
00:29:24You know, I think he's touched on, he's been away and he's come back again.
00:29:28The decision's all up to him.
00:29:30Obviously, he's got an agent and agents are going to be going, look, my guy is out of contract.
00:29:34And then you'll see the clubs that might be interested in him and then he's the one that's
00:29:39going to say, well, am I happy here or do I want to try someone else?
00:29:42Yeah.
00:29:43What's your thoughts on the game prediction?
00:29:45I still think Celtic will be buzzing.
00:29:48Just narrowly win it.
00:29:492-1.
00:29:50Yeah.
00:29:51Is 2-1 just your scoreline now all the way through to the end of the season?
00:29:54We sat on the fence earlier.
00:29:56That's bold.
00:29:57Yeah.
00:29:58That's bold.
00:29:59I think Celtic will win it.
00:30:00Yep.
00:30:01I think it will be 1-0.
00:30:03Yeah.
00:30:04You're at that point where you're thinking to yourself, it matters more to Hibs.
00:30:09I'm thinking to myself, if Callum McGregor starts the game, it bemuses me completely.
00:30:13There's no purpose in it.
00:30:14No.
00:30:15And Hibs have got everything there ahead of them.
00:30:17And I think that could be really a massive factor in determining what happens.
00:30:22Cameron Vickers out.
00:30:23Yes.
00:30:24What's your prediction?
00:30:25One each.
00:30:26One each.
00:30:27Okay.
00:30:28I didn't hear you the right part.
00:30:29See, that's why I come back to you there, son.
00:30:30Dundee United against St Mirren.
00:30:33If United win this one, Robbie, it guarantees fifth and European football.
00:30:38And I'll give you this chilling statistic.
00:30:42This season, United have won all three league games.
00:30:45They've won against St Mirren in the League Cup.
00:30:47They've scored five and conceded none against them.
00:30:51Yeah, I think that's when they were flying.
00:30:53They were on a good run.
00:30:54They're not on a good run now.
00:30:55You know, the pressure's now beginning to sink in.
00:30:58And St Mirren will be pointing up there.
00:31:01You've seen the celebrations last week when they got the goal.
00:31:04Steven Robertson will be trying to get it into them that they've got a lot to play for.
00:31:10They still could grab that fifth place.
00:31:12So, this is a really important game for both teams.
00:31:14I just think Dundee United aren't where they were earlier on.
00:31:17Yeah, I mean, St Mirren, Steven Robertson rather turn-in-cheek was saying, you know, what they achieved to get into the top six.
00:31:23Some of them should be getting statues.
00:31:25He said if they get Europe, all of them should be getting statues immediately.
00:31:30I'll build them for them.
00:31:32I'll build them for the players.
00:31:34It's a super group of staff and players.
00:31:37There's boys that have been here for the whole three years that I've been.
00:31:40And there's been a relative success.
00:31:42You know, success is relevant to where you are and what your resources are.
00:31:47And for us to be a top six side three years in a row is a brilliant achievement for the players,
00:31:52a brilliant achievement for the staff.
00:31:53And we've given ourselves a chance to hang in there.
00:31:57It's a long shot.
00:31:58We know that.
00:31:59We have to keep winning.
00:32:00We're capable of that.
00:32:01We've no doubt about it.
00:32:02If we can keep everybody fit for the last three games then, you know,
00:32:05hopefully we can keep that hope going until they're right to the last kick of the season.
00:32:09Yeah.
00:32:10I mean, he's done a marvellous job.
00:32:12We certainly enjoyed his chat and his three games.
00:32:15Dundee United away on Saturday.
00:32:18And then they're at home to Hibbs and away to Celtic.
00:32:21So he knows it's a tall order.
00:32:23He does.
00:32:24They've been fantastic.
00:32:25I think they're one of the best coached teams in the Premiership.
00:32:28I think the instructions that the players follow to the letter is, to a degree,
00:32:33a massive part of why they've done so well.
00:32:36Dundee United, on the other hand, contracts are getting dangled.
00:32:40Jim Goodwin's delayed confirming contracts for players.
00:32:43So these guys are getting centres there.
00:32:45I just think it's a great start.
00:32:48United start then.
00:32:49But that has to fall.
00:32:51Because to go with a clean sweep when there's not that much between teams,
00:32:55statistically we suggest that they're not going to result.
00:32:58Yeah.
00:32:59Okay.
00:33:00Parts is going that way.
00:33:02I'm going to go United.
00:33:04I'm going to go...
00:33:05Back 6 killing me by the way.
00:33:08I'm going to go 1-1.
00:33:09I'm going 1-1 as well.
00:33:11Okay.
00:33:12It's such a tight one to call.
00:33:14Hearts against Motherwell.
00:33:15Liam Fox was the man speaking today.
00:33:18Obviously, as the interim, yet again.
00:33:21I think he wants to be a manager in his own right though.
00:33:23Everyone I speak to, when Liam Fox's name comes up,
00:33:26it's nothing but a positive, glowing reference about how good a coach he is.
00:33:30Yeah.
00:33:31Is he a coach or a manager?
00:33:32Coach.
00:33:33He's a coach.
00:33:34I've watched him do that.
00:33:35I've interviewed him numerous times when he's had the caretaker role.
00:33:38And he doesn't fill the room the way a Hearts manager should.
00:33:41But he's a brilliant guy, brilliant coach.
00:33:43There's no crime in not having that kind of...
00:33:46You know what I'm talking about, right?
00:33:48People that can control a dressing room with their voice.
00:33:50Yeah.
00:33:51Not that kind of guy, but really impressive.
00:33:54Both as a coach for younger players, but good respect for my dressing room
00:33:58for senior players.
00:33:59So that job is out with him, but as a coach, as a manager at any level?
00:34:07Listen, I think Liam Fox knows that he's been really lucky
00:34:11to get profiled in the clubs that he's had.
00:34:14He's done very well to make himself prominent.
00:34:17And he shows you the respect that the club has for him,
00:34:20that they give him these caretaker roles.
00:34:22He just doesn't have...
00:34:23He likes that x-factor as a manager.
00:34:25Can he manage it?
00:34:26What are we talking here?
00:34:28Are we talking Hamilton Ackeys?
00:34:29Because he's not a Premiership manager.
00:34:31You need more than that.
00:34:32Yeah.
00:34:33Okay.
00:34:34Interesting enough.
00:34:35Liam Fox himself, talking about whoever the new manager is,
00:34:38I think he knows it's not going to be himself taking up the reins at time.
00:34:43Whoever it is, you should take the plug out of that computer,
00:34:45go and find somebody that knows the game.
00:34:47Yeah.
00:34:48Okay.
00:34:49Perhaps he's not a fan of Jamestown Analytics.
00:34:51And Liam Fox has probably taken the plug out of the computer
00:34:55because he said it's a simple process to get yourself onside with the fans.
00:34:59He thinks you just need to win games.
00:35:02You win games of football first and foremost.
00:35:04I don't know that sounds really, really simple.
00:35:06But it's not for me to sit here and decide and tell you what.
00:35:11The Harts manager, this is the club we're going through a process.
00:35:14They'll pick the right person that they think has the qualities
00:35:16that they need to lead the football club.
00:35:19What I can say is it's a brilliant job.
00:35:21It's a brilliant football club, brilliant set of supporters,
00:35:24some really good staff members in and around the building.
00:35:27They've got brilliant facilities here.
00:35:28So it's a brilliant job for whoever gets it.
00:35:32Yeah.
00:35:33And, of course, every now and then we like to read out some of your messages.
00:35:37Obviously, with your opinion on situations about Rangers, Celtic,
00:35:41teams in the Scottish Premiership, your favourite team.
00:35:44And, of course, if there's a pundit that comes on in a day
00:35:47where he obviously gets it.
00:35:49Parts he's on the journals more often than not, Ruffy,
00:35:53which takes him away from our live feed.
00:35:55And he doesn't get that sense of what the public think of him.
00:35:58So I'm...
00:35:59Are they not too happy?
00:36:00I'm just about to give it to him now.
00:36:03Because...
00:36:04It's not going to happen.
00:36:05So, Rob has said, here goes Parsi and his want, need
00:36:10for overbearing aggressive instinct in a manager.
00:36:14Yeah, he's had a few overbearing managers in his time,
00:36:18I have to be honest with you, Rob.
00:36:19But, listen, at least here you'll get an opinion on these things.
00:36:23So, Liam Fox is in charge for the match against Muller.
00:36:27We're just trying to take it as positive as he possibly can.
00:36:30And, of course, as we discussed this week,
00:36:32Tony Bloom, 9.86 million, I think was the story from Barry Anderson
00:36:37in the Edinburgh Evening News about his commitment to Hearts,
00:36:42the investment that he'll want.
00:36:43He won't be on the actual board.
00:36:45He'll have a representative there.
00:36:47And then it's just a case of, you know,
00:36:51trying to tap into this Jamestown analytics
00:36:54that Tony Bloom buys into with his company.
00:36:57Stevie Naismith, we caught up with him this week,
00:36:59the former Hearts manager.
00:37:01And he reckons this investment will be a real shot in the arm for Hearts.
00:37:06He's not just going on a whim.
00:37:08In my opinion, this is not an ego-driven, I want to be.
00:37:12That's not what this is about.
00:37:13This is about making a statement in a league that's predominantly dominated by two clubs.
00:37:19And this is an opportunity to go right.
00:37:22I think I've got a tool here that works, really works.
00:37:26And there's probably no better case study than being in a league where there's a domination by two clubs.
00:37:35Well, if I'm old school, I don't think £10 million is going to make a dent in Rangers and Celtic.
00:37:44You're going to make a dent in that couch.
00:37:46I know.
00:37:47But by the way, if I tell you something, it's not for me.
00:37:50I mean, don't listen to anything.
00:37:52I mean, if Tony Bloom comes out tomorrow and starts this claptrap about, you know, really challenging them,
00:37:57that's not the case here.
00:37:58The reality of it is, Ruffy, that Hearts, with Jamestown Analytics, with 10 million investment,
00:38:04with the backing of the fans who've been absolutely brilliant, are quite simply looking to finish third.
00:38:10Yeah.
00:38:11And I'm sure the other teams that he's probably talking about, Aberdeen and Hibs, you know,
00:38:15also have money behind them.
00:38:17And if they thought there was a hint of Hearts dominating them,
00:38:21I'm sure they would do something about it with the owners that they've got.
00:38:24So it's always good to get money at a club.
00:38:26There's no doubt about that.
00:38:27It's how you use it.
00:38:28And the supporters, as you said, have been putting money into the club left, right and centre for a lot of years.
00:38:33So it'll be interesting to see what part of the negotiations they take
00:38:37with the amount of money they've put in over the years.
00:38:40Never in my modern era of watching Hearts have ever had a better opportunity with that kind of amount of money
00:38:49to go and do what nobody wants to talk about.
00:38:51Yeah.
00:38:52I think it's a lot of money for a club at Hearts.
00:38:55Is Derek McInnes the man?
00:38:56Yes.
00:38:57Yeah.
00:38:58100%.
00:38:59OK.
00:39:00Of course, there's a number of players that we were talking about at every club wondering what's going to happen.
00:39:03Even Craig Gordon, 42, but he reckons both he and many others won't be talking contracts
00:39:10until everything is done and dusted with the new man in place.
00:39:13I can't see any contracts being handed out while we don't have a manager.
00:39:18So, yeah, the next few weeks we'll sit down and have a chat and see where things are at.
00:39:23Yeah, we have spoke, you know, and they've been very open about what they want for next season.
00:39:31But yeah, there's still a few discussions to be had.
00:39:35Obviously, the new manager coming in will have a say in that as well.
00:39:38So, yeah, we'll just see what the next couple of weeks brings.
00:39:4242.
00:39:43Unbelievable.
00:39:44Fantastic, isn't it?
00:39:45He's unbelievable when he's that kind of goalkeeper that could play another year
00:39:49and if he wasn't playing in the first team, you'd want him as number two.
00:39:52You'd want him about the place.
00:39:53What age were you when you called it?
00:39:5539.
00:39:56Yeah.
00:39:57But the thing about it is with Craig Gordon is he's a really good goalkeeper.
00:40:03I mean, it's not as if we're sitting here discussing a man with sentiment.
00:40:07We're talking about a top-drawer goalkeeper and he keeps producing brilliant saves.
00:40:11He's still Scotland's number one.
00:40:12Instinctive reaction saves, which you think diminish by age.
00:40:16I haven't seen anything that suggests that that's been diminished.
00:40:19There's nothing in his game that I can see has been diminished,
00:40:22which given the fact that his back catalogue of injuries makes it all the more astonishing.
00:40:27Yeah, I think also there's a real incentive for him because he missed out in such a huge chunk of his playing career.
00:40:33He wants to try and maximise it at the other end and he's managed to do that.
00:40:37Yeah, the last time I spoke to him I said to him I hoped that he would try and keep playing for Scotland as much as possible.
00:40:46Obviously the injuries curtailed him.
00:40:48I thought he was the one that was going to take over Jim Layton.
00:40:51You know, I'm not exactly sure how many craigs go at the now, but I mean another year playing for Scotland,
00:40:57he wouldn't be far off being the most capped goalkeeper in the history.
00:41:01And I think that would be in the back of his mind that it's something you'd want to achieve.
00:41:06Well, obviously the scale that he missed, you know, he could have beat Jim easily,
00:41:11but I think he should sign for another year and if he keeps playing the way he's playing for Scotland,
00:41:16he won't be far away from getting that target.
00:41:19Yeah, I enjoyed Stephen O'Donnell who was our guest on Monday talking about all things Motherwell.
00:41:24Obviously some good debate on that victory over Dundee, VAR again at the bone of contention for so many.
00:41:33But nevertheless, he was, you know, giving us his thoughts on Motherwell, the new manager Michael Wimmer,
00:41:40and they are now safely, yet again, in the top flight.
00:41:44So who's going to win this one?
00:41:47Hearts or Motherwell? Hearts? Just edging it?
00:41:50They've just got a better squad. I just think that the Hearts can't afford to finish the season,
00:41:56they're just downer, they've got to at least lift things a wee bit.
00:41:59Yeah, but they've got to win.
00:42:00I know that, and I think they will.
00:42:02Yeah, I think that's a win comfortable. I think Shanklin's got back to where he was with the goals he scored last week.
00:42:06What, as a number nine?
00:42:07Yeah, yeah. I thought last week he was there or thereabouts.
00:42:10You know, the Shanklin that we saw last year, you know, if the ball breaks in a vicinity, he's there.
00:42:16I think he'll score again, and I think they'll win 3-0.
00:42:19Okay, Kilmarnock against Dundee. All the talk to the assistant manager, Paul Sheeran.
00:42:24If you're wondering why he's been doing a couple of the press conferences in the Kilmarnock press room,
00:42:29it's quite simply because there are steps up to that room, and Derek's had a knee operation,
00:42:33so he doesn't want to jeopardise it, or maybe he's just ducking the hearts question, who knows.
00:42:38Paul Sheeran said the club is well aware of the interest, and Paul Sheeran reckons if it happens, they'll be ready.
00:42:48In football, people move on, and it's constantly changing and evolving, so I'd like to think that the club are always in a position to be ready if anything was to happen.
00:43:00I think managers get sacked, managers move on to better things, so there's always an evolution in the game,
00:43:07I'm sure the club will be prepared if they have to be for that eventuality, I'm sure they'll be in a position to bring someone else in and move on.
00:43:16Yeah, as far as Kilmarnock are concerned, one thing that Derek McKinnis did mention last week was that he always thought,
00:43:24you know, just with the quality they have available, he was always thinking I'm going to be looking up the way,
00:43:29rather than thinking I'm going to be involved in the relegation.
00:43:31Yeah, I think they've been very, very unlucky with the injuries they got at the right time of the season.
00:43:36You know, two wide men out, main striker out, didn't let the back out, and the goalkeeper as well.
00:43:43You know, so he's dug on in there, you know, but I think he believed that when he came up against the teams that have run about him,
00:43:51that they have better players.
00:43:53And they're against the Dundee side that I watched, you know, the chances last week squandered them, got a man sent off,
00:44:03got the manager really angry about a decision that went against them, and suddenly, and this is the thing that a lot of people will forget,
00:44:10such decisions can determine the future of a manager, and the club, and the players' contracts for the next season,
00:44:17and Dundee are looking and seeing themselves, Kelly, Ross County and St Johnstone ahead.
00:44:23Tony will know they need to shed the victim complex, because it's, listen, that was harsh.
00:44:29I didn't think it was the right decision. I thought it was a bit of a joke, to be honest, but too much at stake.
00:44:35He need to dust himself down. The difficulty is, Dundee lose too many goals.
00:44:39And they seem to be hit at this moment of the season with circumstances going against them.
00:44:46Things are not going their way, and the ball is not bouncing for you.
00:44:49You've got a problem at this stage, and I don't think it will bounce for them tomorrow either.
00:44:53I'm going to go 2-1 Kelly, you. I'm happy with that.
00:44:56Yeah. Yeah, 2-1 Kelly.
00:44:58St Johnstone against Ross County. This is what we call real squeaky bum time, Ruffy.
00:45:02They're just, a win for Saints means they're just three points away from Ross County.
00:45:07And that's all you've got to say to the players.
00:45:10You want to prove everybody wrong. You think we're down and out.
00:45:14Go out there, at home, beat Ross County, and then it really will become nervy.
00:45:20Yeah, and I'm sure they'll be saying that in Ross County as well.
00:45:23You know, I think they're still trying to live off the three away games that they had.
00:45:29And the bounce they got that took them away from everybody, but now they're back again.
00:45:34So they're going to rely on certain players.
00:45:36I think they're relying on the wee boy Hale. I've been really impressed with him.
00:45:39You know, if he can notch, you know, that will give them a bit of confidence.
00:45:42But it's just a nervy game, and it is which set of players can handle it better than the others.
00:45:48Yeah, there are certain games that I, I mean, as you know, I try and go to as many games out with the big games.
00:45:55Because I think it's always good to get an insight in the flesh, seeing teams the way they play.
00:46:00And when you see the St Johnsons, the Ross counties, sometimes the football is not great to watch.
00:46:06This is one that I think, you know, I've watched the end of season games, and this one is going to be crash bang wallop for me.
00:46:12On a bumpy pitch.
00:46:13Yeah.
00:46:14So all the ingredients for a battle royale, and it will be a battle royale.
00:46:17The team that wins the game, the team that wants it more, and that's when you're going to get a blood and thunder.
00:46:22Just out of curiosity, I saw somebody talking about, I mean, I mean, I know Seymour Valakari's maybe trying to put an edge to it by saying, you know,
00:46:30he'll live or die by his results on his future. But I think he'll be safe to try and get them out of the championship next season.
00:46:36I think he's a perfect man to do it, because he does see a bigger picture.
00:46:39Valakari's got a cultural aspect to him, he's got a personality that doesn't kind of become totally doom and gloomy season.
00:46:46Like, there can be hope beyond a St Johnson team that haven't been good enough, but better.
00:46:52He's got them now at a league where they can regroup and they can revamp and recruit better.
00:46:58And he's got the contact base to do that. Again, it's a perfect time for, if there's a perfect time for a club to take the drop,
00:47:04he's the perfect manager to take them with.
00:47:06Okay, how's it going then, in the crash bang wallop, you know, blood guts and thunder?
00:47:11It's not going well for Ross County, I don't think.
00:47:13Yeah?
00:47:14No. I just think there's a resignation there.
00:47:16And I think, as Ruffie says, guys like Hale, opportunist strikers, it'll be a game that will be one of those moments.
00:47:24And they've got better personnel.
00:47:26Okay, I'm going St Johnson to win it by a penalty.
00:47:28That makes perfect sense.
00:47:29Yes, Ruffie, we're even giving you how it's going to be won.
00:47:32No, I'll go St Johnson 2-0.
00:47:342-0? Okay, interesting.
00:47:36Give us your thoughts on that battle at the bottom.
00:47:38Certainly going to be interesting to see how it all develops.
00:47:41And of course, let's not forget that third place fight that's going on at the moment.
00:47:45Not too many Dons fans on today in a confident mood.
00:47:49Ruffie, I'm looking and I'm saying to myself, where are all the Dons fans that want to talk about their side and what they're about to achieve?
00:47:56But I don't see too many of them.
00:47:58So, with that in mind, just a brief one on Air United, Partick Thistle, your team have got to try and do something.
00:48:05Go into, you know, Somerset Park and win.
00:48:09Yeah, disappointing the result, getting beat 1-0 at home.
00:48:13You'd like to think you could take something to Somerset for that one.
00:48:17But you have to give Air United all the credit.
00:48:19They've now got home advantage.
00:48:21I think possibly a wee bit more confident than Thistle.
00:48:25You know, Thistle would rely on Brian Graham.
00:48:27Far too much for me to come up with a winning goal.
00:48:30So, it's going to be a tense night.
00:48:32And honestly, with the way a championship is, I know Air United look favourites, but that championship can throw up anything.
00:48:39Yeah, I'm going to go for Air United to win it 1-0.
00:48:42I'll stick with Thistle, 2-1.
00:48:44Yeah, yeah.
00:48:45Are you sticking with Thistle because you're just unbelievably biased and you follow that pattern of some other pundits right across all our broadcast industry who just can't go against their old side?
00:48:54Yeah.
00:48:55I just thought I'd clarify that for you because I know we always brag about giving you an opinion and a wee bit of humour, but if you've got to nail them, you've got to nail them on it, Barsi.
00:49:03The last couple of minutes has been absolutely worthless listening to what you just said there.
00:49:09Ruffy, you know that I'm going to that game tonight.
00:49:11I know.
00:49:12And I gave you, I was there on Tuesday night.
00:49:13Yeah.
00:49:14I told you exactly.
00:49:15Why don't you listen?
00:49:18I always say that to him.
00:49:20I'll see you on Monday.
00:49:21Yeah, yeah.
00:49:22Absolutely.
00:49:23Tell him the PSG story.
00:49:25Yeah.
00:49:26See, my team's made it.
00:49:27You'll come to that later on.
00:49:28Yeah.
00:49:29I stuck with PSG for four seasons.
00:49:30Yeah.
00:49:31To win the Champions League and they failed.
00:49:33Miserably.
00:49:34Miserably.
00:49:35What was the Barcelona one?
00:49:36Well, he said to me, I said, you know, could Barcelona come back and win it?
00:49:39He went, not a chance in hell.
00:49:41He said, there's no way they're coming back.
00:49:43He says, they're out.
00:49:44PSG are on their way to the final.
00:49:46And then as each goal went into the back of the net for Barcelona, I just started sending
00:49:52it text by text until eventually I think he just went to bed.
00:49:56Once the late goal came in, which brings me nicely to the fact that PSG are in the final
00:50:01when he's not backed them.
00:50:02Yes.
00:50:03See if you throw mud at the wall often enough.
00:50:04Yeah.
00:50:05There's no something going to stick.
00:50:06Yeah.
00:50:07PSG, deserving of it.
00:50:08100%.
00:50:09Arteta, future.
00:50:10Right?
00:50:11No.
00:50:12Kept on.
00:50:13Another ten years of Arsene Wengerism with nothing to win.
00:50:16I think you've got a manager that needs to win something.
00:50:19I know he has won one trophy, FA Cup.
00:50:22He needs to deliver.
00:50:23But getting a team to a Champions League semis, come on.
00:50:25How high is the bar?
00:50:27How many teams can win it?
00:50:28Well, with all due respect to you, have you not been watching the last three years
00:50:31in the Premiership?
00:50:32He just can't win it.
00:50:33I know that.
00:50:34But again, he needs as a young manager to go and get over the line and I think take the
00:50:39club forward.
00:50:40But the only way to do that, I think he's got one more year to do it.
00:50:42Yeah.
00:50:43And then what?
00:50:44They get rid of him?
00:50:45They have to bring someone in who's got the psychology right, that knows how to deliver
00:50:47victories and win.
00:50:48That's the theory that you don't need a good goalkeeper to get you to a final.
00:50:52Peter says goalkeepers don't win play of the years.
00:50:55These two goalkeepers.
00:50:56Oh, well.
00:50:57These two goalkeepers.
00:50:58Ruffy, Ruffy.
00:50:59Listen, I'm willing to get battered from pillar to post on Donnarumma.
00:51:04Because this boy's not just producing one or two, it's three or four worldies.
00:51:08The semi were all defined by the keepers.
00:51:11Yeah.
00:51:12But how he saved Odegaard's shot from the edge of the box, I will never know.
00:51:17There was some fantastic goals.
00:51:20But the saves for me won it on the night.
00:51:22Yeah.
00:51:23I know we talk about the drama and we love Scottish football.
00:51:26And everybody who tunes into us and subscribes to our channel at times will look at the madness
00:51:31of Scottish football.
00:51:32British football.
00:51:33We do get really some good games.
00:51:35But when you're talking about levels and when you actually watch the Champions League this
00:51:39season, it's been fantastic, Parsi.
00:51:41And we witnessed, you know, we're talking about Donnarumma and how PSG deserved to be
00:51:45there because they've got two or three top players that are just brilliant to watch.
00:51:51But the other game was just the best game I've seen in many a year.
00:51:56Inter 4, Barcelona 3.
00:51:58The theatre.
00:51:59The drama.
00:52:00It's billed as the best of the best and it's excelled itself.
00:52:04Yeah.
00:52:05But I have to say the players and the manager, the approach to these games.
00:52:08That's the point I was about to make for you.
00:52:11It has been, hasn't it?
00:52:12I mean, that whole ethos of let's go and attack because we have the players to attack
00:52:17and let them flourish and let them go out there.
00:52:20I know it's a classic old roughy at Glen Afton.
00:52:23Let's go out there and enjoy yourself, son.
00:52:25What about the tactics?
00:52:26Hey, get out there.
00:52:27If I need to give you tactics, get out there and do what you do.
00:52:31Oh, what's that?
00:52:32A couple of ones?
00:52:34Again, yes.
00:52:36When you get a team that knows that work ethic is as important as giving your individual
00:52:40flair players the ball.
00:52:41Yeah.
00:52:42And getting these individuals to go and work on behalf of the team.
00:52:45You've got a formula for success and it's why PSG failed time after time when you backed
00:52:49them because they had everything apart from that.
00:52:52Yeah.
00:52:53I have to say, I'm going to go for PSG to win it.
00:52:56Yeah, I agree.
00:52:57And I think I might be in the Allianz Arena to see it, which would be absolutely fantastic,
00:53:02Ruffy.
00:53:03Yeah.
00:53:04Can you take me with you?
00:53:06Sadly, Patsy.
00:53:07Am I just going on safari?
00:53:10No, there's only about 23 other people in front of you.
00:53:14If they drop out, I'm calling you.
00:53:17Ruffy?
00:53:19I don't want to put the jinx in PSG but I like the way they play.
00:53:23Yeah.
00:53:24Okay.
00:53:25As far as the other European competitions are concerned, of course, I'm sure a few Rangers
00:53:28fans will be looking and saying, well, you know, it's great to see Manchester United
00:53:32absolutely thump Athletic Bilbao.
00:53:34Manchester United are in the Europa League.
00:53:37Amorim, if he wins the Europa League final, suddenly they go into the Champions League.
00:53:42He delivers £100 million to Manchester United in a season where people are wondering if
00:53:47even he's the right manager to take this club of underachievers, poor signings and a
00:53:53structure in the background that so many fans at United absolutely despise.
00:53:59But they're in the Europa League final and they're against a team, you'll never believe
00:54:03it, they're against a Tottenham team where some of the fans, I don't know how many,
00:54:08but they want Ange Postacoglu sacked.
00:54:10They're not a fan of him, the press are hounding him and basically Ange, in true Aussie fashion,
00:54:16he's been magnificent, is having none of it.
00:54:19He's fighting back against them.
00:54:21To be fair, you know better than me.
00:54:24You've followed this club probably more than I have.
00:54:26What do you think a trophy would do for this club?
00:54:29Exactly right.
00:54:30So the question answers itself.
00:54:33It's like, it doesn't need me to, but you know what, what's happening right now is
00:54:37that people are fearing that, that it actually might happen.
00:54:40And because it might happen, let's see how we can tear it down somehow,
00:54:43diminish it somehow by, you know, saying that it's been a poor season and it's, you know,
00:54:47we don't deserve this or we don't deserve that or somehow comparing us to Manchester United.
00:54:51Maybe if we had Manchester United's success, maybe, I'd have a different view.
00:54:57I think he's 100% correct.
00:54:59But it has been a poor season for them.
00:55:01And I think he's got to take the criticism for some of the tactics he's deployed.
00:55:05But fair play to him, Ange has delivered in Europe.
00:55:08Yeah, I think if you look at the league table, it's not impressive at all.
00:55:13You know, if you're a Spurs supporter.
00:55:16But again, Spurs fans are no different from anybody else.
00:55:19If they go to that final and win it, they'll celebrate more just as well as everybody else.
00:55:25You know, I don't know whether the wheels are in motion to remove him from the bosses
00:55:30because they've not got a great track record.
00:55:32But certainly, if he wins a trophy, he leaves.
00:55:36I would think he's head held high.
00:55:38I'm amazed he's actually got to the end of the season with that board.
00:55:41That board is notorious.
00:55:43Something has to give in the final.
00:55:45They cut one way or the other.
00:55:48Ange has spent the season justifying the failure that they've been.
00:55:54And to whet the appetite of those fans by doing so well initially.
00:55:59And then bombing compounds the problem.
00:56:02Is there any slack to be cut for him?
00:56:04Massive slack.
00:56:05Massive slack.
00:56:06He had a point, but now he bites too often when he's criticised.
00:56:10And you can see that, whether he likes it or not, that's a sign of it infecting him.
00:56:14Yeah.
00:56:15I'm going to go for Tottenham to win it.
00:56:18I agree.
00:56:19Yeah.
00:56:20When you've got Mason Mount dragging you through to a final,
00:56:22I think these things are like Hayley's Comet.
00:56:26Spurs with a manager that always wins a trophy.
00:56:30We'll continue that run.
00:56:31Yeah.
00:56:32And by the way, I'd love to be in that press conference with you,
00:56:34when he walks in and leathers some of our compatriots.
00:56:37And he will, by the way.
00:56:38He should.
00:56:39I'd love to walk in and he says, I told you so I'll always win a trophy in my second year.
00:56:44No, he won't do it.
00:56:45He won't do it like that.
00:56:46I told you all I was going to win it.
00:56:48He'll be absolutely forthright.
00:56:50I mean, listen, I sat with him on more than a few occasions.
00:56:54He's a feisty character at the best of times and he will let it go with all guns blazing.
00:56:59Yeah.
00:57:00And by the way, can I tell you something?
00:57:01You know, you and I, Gordon, have been in many a press conference.
00:57:05Sometimes, sometimes you have to take it on the chin and the journalists will have to take it.
00:57:10During Covid, a lot of clubs did press us through telephone calls.
00:57:14So it was a nominated journalist that had to take the call.
00:57:17Celtic would phone me on occasion and I had to speak to Ange.
00:57:22It was hard work.
00:57:23It was desperate times because I've got to make sure they've got enough copy
00:57:26for the rest of the boys to flesh out for the weekend stuff.
00:57:29And you had to finesse him a wee bit initially to get him talking and then hit him hard.
00:57:34But he knew exactly what was coming. He's very astute.
00:57:37And at times to keep that level where you're still getting decent stuff
00:57:41without offending them or getting them spiky.
00:57:44There's a balance in that that I have to hold my hands up and say at times I failed to do.
00:57:48Yeah. I liked him. I liked him.
00:57:50I liked managers, you know, with that little bit of edge about them.
00:57:52Did he say mate to you?
00:57:54A friendly mate?
00:57:55Was it a friendly mate?
00:57:56Can I just say something to you?
00:57:58Can I just say something to you, Ruffy?
00:58:00After his first, this is the God's world's truth, after his first,
00:58:04I think it was about seven or eight weeks.
00:58:07I was doing what can only be described as like an evening with Ange Postacoglu.
00:58:12And I said to him, you know, I've been watching you.
00:58:14I said, I've been listening to you quite regularly in these press conferences.
00:58:17And I says, and usually I said, when you say to someone mate,
00:58:23it means you think, it means you think they're a complete idiot.
00:58:28Right? You're not happy with the question.
00:58:30And you're saying it because you're, you're hacked off with them. Right?
00:58:34And he said, yes, mate.
00:58:38And I, I'm, I'm changing the wording of it there. I changed it.
00:58:43Do you remember playing, were you playing in the Australia game?
00:58:47No, I was on the bench.
00:58:48Okay. Do you remember Alan Davison, captain of the Australian team?
00:58:52Over there or here?
00:58:53I can't, can't remember, but he was the captain of the Australian team.
00:58:56Right.
00:58:57And when Ange came to Celtic, I phoned him and I said,
00:58:59what can a guy of Celtic get in here?
00:59:01He says, I'll tell you for a fact.
00:59:03He says, you're not getting a guy that's going to be your mate.
00:59:06Mate.
00:59:07Yeah.
00:59:08And so it came to pass.
00:59:09Yeah, absolutely.
00:59:10Who's winning Chelsea against Real Batiste?
00:59:12Chelsea.
00:59:13Chelsea.
00:59:14Chelsea.
00:59:15Yeah, absolutely.
00:59:16Listen, great.
00:59:17Good to see Patsy with us and quite a lot of people.
00:59:22Chris Fraser, I think, is the ideal person to comment because he's got the best line of
00:59:27everything that we read out on our feed.
00:59:30He says, Patsy is the new Steve Irwin.
00:59:33And that's just for the clobber you're wearing today.
00:59:35What's his name?
00:59:36His name is Chris Fraser.
00:59:38I wore this just for you.
00:59:39Yes, absolutely.
00:59:40Ridiculous outfit just for you.
00:59:43Yeah.
00:59:44What one?
00:59:45Ridiculous outfit just for you.
00:59:47My cousin Vinny.
00:59:48Everybody walks in with a 1950s suit on.
00:59:52Yes, absolutely.
00:59:53The judge goes, are you mocking me?
00:59:54Are you mocking me with that?
00:59:56He goes, what?
00:59:57He says, judge, I wore this ridiculous outfit just for you.
01:00:01Yeah.
01:00:02And Patsy is for you as well.
01:00:04That's a great line.
01:00:05That's a great line.
01:00:06Thank you very much to each and every one of you.
01:00:08There's a link on there if you want to come along for an evening with Gordon Strachan
01:00:12and Martin O'Neill.
01:00:13Even as a neutral, some of the stories with Clough and Ferguson, Ruffy.
01:00:16What a night that's going to be.
01:00:18Those two together.
01:00:19I've managed to get the two of them together for the first time.
01:00:21They've been out as a duo, as an act, and I think it's going to be great.
01:00:24Oh, well, I've been at a night with wee Gordon.
01:00:26I was doing his bit.
01:00:27It was fascinating.
01:00:28Obviously, I know him very well for the playing days, but the stories that he tells
01:00:32is fantastic.
01:00:33I haven't been as close to Martin O'Neill as you have, but I'm sure the two of them
01:00:36will just rub off each other.
01:00:38Yeah, absolutely.
01:00:39The two of them together talking about Clough and Sir Alex Ferguson as well should be absolutely
01:00:44box office.
01:00:45Looking forward to it.
01:00:46The link is in there and YouTube channel if you want to come along to that.

01:00:59better and stronger and take on the big boys regularly as we do and all those other

01:01:10not subscribe to our PLZ Premium and get extra stuff as well?
01:01:16Simple as that.
01:01:17Have a great weekend.
01:01:18The summer is here.
01:01:20The sun is shining.
01:01:21Parsi's going to watch air.
01:01:23Ruffy's going to give him a lift in the car, which means Parsi is going to have to listen
01:01:27for the next seven minutes about how they beat Celtic in 1971 in the League Cup final.
01:01:32So that's the drawback of getting a lift to the game against air.
01:01:36Thank you for listening and watching.
