With Celtic on the verge of clinching the Scottish Premiership title, the panel discusses Brendan Rodgers’ claim that this could be his best-ever season as Celtic manager—especially if the Hoops go on to complete a domestic treble.

The conversation shifts to Rangers, where interim manager Barry Ferguson is demanding five wins from his final five games, including a potential Old Firm clash at Ibrox. Ferguson’s comments spark a debate on whether he deserves the job permanently, and what the long-term strategy will be under sporting director Kevin Thelwell and incoming ownership.

Brendan Rodgers' European progress is highlighted as a key achievement, alongside Callum McGregor’s and James Forrest’s trophy-laden careers.

Elsewhere, the panel assess Kilmarnock's underwhelming campaign under Derek McInnes, Ross County’s away form, and Motherwell’s push for safety under Michael Wimmer. There’s also discussion around St Johnstone’s relegation battle and Hearts’ disappointing season under Neil Critchley,

00:01:12excited about it. Lots of great one-to-ones, lots of additional stuff. And Tam, you've offered
00:01:17a wee insight into some favourite players, some favourite movies, some favourite trips,
00:01:23some extra wee...
00:01:24Favourite concepts?
00:01:24Yeah, favourite concepts.
00:01:25Which will be interesting.
00:01:26Some additional stuff, yeah, absolutely. Ruffy, when we do, you obviously, hopefully you
00:01:32will obviously be as honest as you possibly can. Not the autobiography that you did, but
00:01:37clearly an insight into your life away from people. You may as well just spill any beans
00:01:42now. You've not got long left. Is it that? Is it? Is it? Yeah. You may as well just spill
00:01:48any beans, to be honest. You may run through all the questions they're going to be like.
00:01:52It would be as well. Long have you got to go, do you think? It would be better if the
00:01:58basis that Tam has just mentioned there, you may as well spill the beans. Anyway, lots to
00:02:03look forward to on today's show. Here's what's coming up.
00:02:05Brendan Rodgers claims this season could be his best ever as Celtic manager if his side
00:02:10complete the treble. Barry Ferguson says he has no intentions of coaching at another
00:02:15club if he doesn't remain his Rangers boss. Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes admits anger
00:02:21over missing out of the top six. And Arnes Lott is desperate to seal the title with Liverpool
00:02:26requiring just one point to be crowned Premier League champions.
00:02:30Yeah, just a few of the things that we're going to be talking about on the programme.
00:02:34We'll be looking down south at Liverpool on the verge of that English Premier League as well.
00:02:38But Scotland is our focus, as ever, on the football show with the lads here. And we'll
00:02:44be reading out some of your messages. And of course, delighted that you can support us
00:02:48all the way through the season. It's hard to believe it just flashes in roughly another one
00:02:52for us. 13 seasons.
00:02:54Yeah, it certainly does. This is the exciting part. Obviously, the playoffs, relegation, everything
00:02:58and write down all the divisions. And everybody will be dying to see how the scores go.
00:03:02Yeah. Brendan Rodgers was talking ahead of the trip to Tannadice where Celtic can clinch
00:03:08the title. 15 points ahead, five games to go. Goal difference looking good. And a point
00:03:15is enough to win the Scottish Premiership again. And they've been so dominant. Brendan Rodgers
00:03:21himself claiming that this could be the best ever. This is what he had to say about it.
00:03:25What we have here is a culture that is built around winning and then what that takes. The
00:03:31biggest word of that, which is a challenge, is consistency. It's been so satisfying this
00:03:36season. And I'll become even more satisfied and probably my best season here if we can finish
00:03:41off with these two trophies. I've been delighted with what we've put in and how we've recovered
00:03:48from setbacks. It's not easy. I can guarantee that. And I think that backs up basically, Ruffy,
00:03:55what Callum McGregor highlighted earlier on in the week, which is quite simply, you can,
00:04:00and I think you might have been talking about fans and maybe critics of the club, you can
00:04:05get a bit blasé when you're consistently winning the title. But it is a slog. There's a mental
00:04:10strength you need. And there is, of course, the ability to get it over the line.
00:04:14It certainly is. It makes it a lot easier. You know, you've got the players that they've
00:04:18got at their disposal. The other teams just haven't got that. They haven't got the money
00:04:24to back it up. But yeah, you've still got to go out and win games. You've got to go to
00:04:28places like St. Johnson, Ross County and turn on a performance. I think they've been very
00:04:33good, not for all the season this year. I think some of those, a wee dip at moments.
00:04:40I think the Rangers' defeats will hurt a few people, but they can rectify that in the next
00:04:44one. But yeah, to win three trophies in any division is fantastic.
00:04:49Best season ever for Brendan?
00:04:51I think the Invincible one, Peter, you know, when they went unbeaten. I think that was
00:04:55probably his best, obviously, in Europe. They've went further this year. They've got
00:04:58out of the group and they've got a knockout game against Bayern Munich, which they competed
00:05:02well with. But in terms of their best ever season, I'd probably say it was the Invincible
00:05:06season. But listen, Brendan knows more than us. You know, and as Ruffey says, he's got
00:05:11a strong squad to pick from. He's got competition for places and the key thing for him is consistency
00:05:17and keeping players hungry for the jersey and he's done that all season.
00:05:20I mean, it's an amazing set of statistics. 13th Premiership title in 14 years. And I
00:05:28mentioned there they've got a 15-point lead at Ruffey with those five games remaining.
00:05:32The goal difference alone means that it's just a point at Tanner Ice. Brendan himself, if
00:05:39he gets the Scottish Cup and the title in the bag, it's Celtic with the sixth treble
00:05:45in nine seasons, which is outrageous. Obviously, circumstances where Rangers were not in the
00:05:51division. But I would highlight that, you know, you have to say that's not Celtic's fault.
00:05:57No, it isn't. You know, I'm not taking anything away for Celtic. You know, they've done everything
00:06:02they had to do. You know, they progressed in Europe. You know, it's not Celtic's fault that
00:06:07Hibs and Harps were horrendous at the beginning of the season. Picked themselves up. Well, Hibs
00:06:11did pick themselves up. And Aberdeen had that, you know, maybe 12, 13 games without a win.
00:06:18So, you know, they'll just concentrate on what they're doing. Winning trophies, going to games,
00:06:25you know, winning the games. A lot of them very, very comfortable. And a lot of the times,
00:06:30if you're a supporter, it's a joy to go along and watch the style of football that they play.
00:06:34Yeah. Should we read too much or look too much into the difference now financially? I hate
00:06:42to highlight it, Tam, but Aurora has said, it's funny how Brendan Rodgers never mentions
00:06:46all the bags of money Celtic have. Well, that's because they're a well-run club. And, you know,
00:06:51when Rangers were winning nine in a row, their main contenders were Aberdeen. Celtic were
00:06:56really six out of the nine seasons, not at the races. They were, you know, financially
00:07:02struggling. So Celtic, off the park, run like a well-oiled machine. Bankers, accountants,
00:07:10people who are well-tuned to what they need to do in a business sense. And then you need
00:07:15a good coach. You know, over the last 13 of those 14 seasons, Celtic have had really good
00:07:20coaches in there.
00:07:21Yeah, they have. And everybody says, oh, money, money, money, Peter, but you've got
00:07:25to spend it properly. And Celtic have done that. They've run all the departments really
00:07:29well, you know, from top to bottom. You know, they've got money, clearly, but they've spent
00:07:33it well. And they've sold players on for big money as well. They've reinvested that in
00:07:38the team. Rangers have had a lot of money over the last few years as well, but they've
00:07:41not spent it well, Peter, and that's why they are where they are. So it's okay saying, oh,
00:07:46you've got money, but you've got to spend it properly. You've got to get the right characters
00:07:49and right players and right recruitment. And Celtic have done that consistently over
00:07:53the last 10 years. So it's up to Rangers. It looks as if they're going to get taken
00:07:57over in the summer. They're going to have some money put into them, but they've got
00:07:59to spend it properly. They've got to get an infrastructure at Ibrox that's similar to
00:08:03Celtic. And, you know, all the departments are working well, and that reflects on the
00:08:07pitch. And I think that's what Celtic have got. And Rangers need to go and match that
00:08:10in the summer.
00:08:11Brennan highlighted consistency, Ruffey. I wonder if the other clubs in the Scottish Premiership
00:08:16are open to criticism, taking a point out of what Tam was saying there, which is quite
00:08:22simply, you've got to recruit well. And I wonder if they're obsessed with trying to look
00:08:26for cheap imports rather than maybe developing and making a better fist of it from the Scottish
00:08:33players. And over and above that, maybe are some of them open to criticism of the way they
00:08:38actually go about their business of playing football? Or is it a case that, again, as we've
00:08:43been talking about in the last month, is the league forcing them to play that sort of way
00:08:47where they've just got to say to themselves, well, it's a free hit against Celtic and Rangers,
00:08:52we're just going to defend and take our chances?
00:08:54Yeah. I mean, with Stephen Robertson then at the beginning of the week, and he said exactly
00:08:58that. You know, he's got to, you know, scour the whole of Britain, you know, to get
00:09:03the right price and the right person. And it's harder to identify them with the money
00:09:08that he's dealing with. You know, I'm sure every other manager that takes Rangers out
00:09:14of the equation would say, yeah, give me an £11 million player. Give me a £6 million
00:09:18player and I'll put a better shift in it. So I can see where they're coming from as when
00:09:24Rangers and Celtic go into Europe, they say, we kind of compete with their teams. Look
00:09:27at the spending Red Bull, you know. So I feel for the likes of Sipman and them that they
00:09:33have to, year on year, they have to go out and compete against a team who can spend that
00:09:38amount of money.
00:09:39Yeah. I mean, over and above that, though, I think as Stephen highlighted, and maybe other
00:09:44managers will highlight as well, is if the league lent itself to allowing them to maybe
00:09:51develop and give 50 to 100 games to a Scottish player. But the flip side of that is quite
00:09:57simply a number of these teams will say, yeah, we can give them 50 to 100 games, but English
00:10:01clubs can just cherry pick them at any moment.
00:10:04Yeah, you've seen that, I think, at Rangers at the minute with the boy Oliver Goodbrand,
00:10:08who's a really, really promising player. I think Newcastle are going to snap him up.
00:10:11I've said it for so many years on here, Peter. You know, all the top talent in Scotland is
00:10:14getting snapped up by English clubs. You know, they can farm them all. They can come up and
00:10:18take the best players for Hibs and Hearts and Aberdeen and Hamilton Ackeys and St Merns
00:10:22and take them down there, give them 100 grand, 200 grand. There's nothing to them,
00:10:26Peter. You know, all they need is one of them to come through and make it, you know,
00:10:29out of 10 or 11 at the sign. So, yeah, it's difficult for clubs as well now with the Brexit
00:10:33rules. You know, they're now shopping up in Scotland now. They're shopping in the UK
00:10:38and they're looking for the best up here. So, albeit, it's difficult to get 50, 100 games
00:10:42now with the league structure, Peter. But it's also even more difficult because your best
00:10:47young players, before they even get into the first team, are getting sold. So, I don't
00:10:51know how they resolve that, how the SFA resolve that, how the clubs resolve that, to be honest.
00:10:55I think also Celtic fans will be looking and heading to Tannadice in great numbers. Obviously,
00:11:01it's not ideal for them because, you know, a number of them will be heading to Celtic
00:11:05Park, hoping the deal is done, the deed is done, the title's in the bag and then the
00:11:09bus will come back to welcome them to Celtic Park in great numbers. But as far as Tannadice
00:11:15itself is concerned and the players that have played their part, Callum McGregor the
00:11:19captain, 23 trophies, which is no mean feat. He'll equal Billy McNeil. And 25 would be
00:11:29the eventual total for James Forrest, which would mean he'd go ahead of Bobby Lennox.
00:11:35I mean, they're not, let's be fair, quite in the same league as Billy McNeil and Bobby
00:11:40Lennox. But I think in the current time that we live in, these two boys should feel tremendously
00:11:46proud of what they've achieved.
00:11:48Oh, I think these two particularly started off as ball boys. You know, that is hard to
00:11:55believe. You're a ball boy. Now you're a captain and now you're winning all these trophies.
00:12:00It's a dream come true for any young boy if they supported that particular team to go through
00:12:06all these stages. And at the end of the day, you're standing at Hamden or whatever, and
00:12:10you're lifting a trophy thinking about the memories of where you were when you were a
00:12:15youngster. It's just an incredible feat for the both of them.
00:12:18Yeah, absolutely. And again, can you see anything happening other than a Celtic win at Tannadice?
00:12:23Jim Goodwin obviously is looking at it and saying all the focus is on Celtic. So it takes a
00:12:28wee bit of the pressure off United. They don't want to just go there and make up the numbers
00:12:31and become a sideshow.
00:12:32Yeah, I think United at home this season have been pretty strong, pretty stuffy, hard to
00:12:36beat. I think they drew. Did they draw up there early in the season with Celtic? Or was
00:12:41it maybe Celtic nicked it 1-0? I can't remember. But I remember them giving a real hard game
00:12:44to Celtic up there early in the season. Nah, I just think Celtic have got the bit between
00:12:50their teeth at the minute. I think after the St Johnston game, Brendan's came out, criticised
00:12:54the team, criticised some players, probably done it behind closed doors as well. And they've
00:13:00got a reaction. You know, they scored five against Kilmarnock and another five last week.
00:13:03So, nah, I think the Celtic up there and I think they'll steamroller Dundee United. I think
00:13:08if they get an early goal with that big away support behind them, I think they can go and
00:13:11score another two or three. But I just have to wait and see. I'll go for Celtic to win comfortably.
00:13:16Yeah, the first game at Tannerdice, Ruffey, ended 0-0. Then Celtic have had five goals without
00:13:22replying the other two games. 2-0 and a 3-0. Yeah, I think Dundee United have just went off
00:13:27the boil a wee bit. They're relying on one goal scorer, the boy Darby. Him up front.
00:13:33Sam Dalby. Sam Dalby. They're relying on him. He's sort of dried up a wee bit just now. You
00:13:38can't see where the goals are coming from. They are squeaking out games 1-0 here and there.
00:13:43But one won't be enough, I think, against Celtic tomorrow.
00:13:48You're a hard man, Ruffey. The goals have dried up a wee bit for one game. He scored an absolute
00:13:55beauty against Harps the week before.
00:13:57If you shut your eyes, you'd score out, Ruffey, if that was one game.
00:14:01I know, but if it was...
00:14:02Pandemic.
00:14:03Yeah, exactly.
00:14:04There was a time when he was scoring every week and you were relying on him scoring every
00:14:08week. But I honestly couldn't sit here and tell you who the Dundee
00:14:13United player who's the second top goal scorer.
00:14:15Yeah, OK.
00:14:17They're quite solid defensively, Peter.
00:14:19I think you should be tremendously proud, Jim.
00:14:21Yeah, absolutely. They're still running for third place. I think they would have preferred
00:14:24Celtic towards the end. Obviously, but I suppose Hibs are playing Aberdeen if they can pick
00:14:28anything up. But I don't think they'll finish third. But you're right, I think he's done
00:14:32tremendously earlier than United this year.
00:14:33Yeah, I don't think they're going to finish third. Just on a point that Callum McGregor also
00:14:37pointed out. And again, listen, we as members of the press go in and you swamp
00:14:43over a player and you want to ask as many questions as possible. The main topic is, of
00:14:49course, that Brendan Rodgers will be looking to shift a few players out, bring a few players
00:14:53in. Some, the Celtic fans, like Rangers fans like Hibs and Hart, start going, well, he's
00:14:59out. He's a dud. He's not working. Keep him. Lose him. But Callum McGregor was jumping to
00:15:06the defence of Greg Taylor, hoping that a deal could be done. And he says Greg Taylor
00:15:12is the best inverted full-back in Europe. I don't agree with Callum on that. I think
00:15:18it's probably good that his captain is very, very complimentary about him.
00:15:21I think he's the best full-back in our Premiership. I think he's tremendous in the Premiership,
00:15:29particularly the way Celtic play at home. I think he fits into that bill. Defensively,
00:15:35yeah. I mean, he's not the greatest, but neither is Andy Robertson, the greatest defender in
00:15:40the world. But going forward, he's got a lot of tremendous balls into the box. He's scored
00:15:45goals as well. So I think he's been an absolute asset. But the decision isn't the Celtics, it's
00:15:50his. That's an interesting line from him. I don't even agree with you on that line,
00:15:57that he's the best full-back in the country. He's certainly in the top five.
00:16:03Who do you think is better than him?
00:16:05Well, I mean, as an attacking full-back, it's slightly different.
00:16:08Alistair Johnson?
00:16:09I think Alistair Johnson's more consistent. But Alistair Johnson's also an ever-present
00:16:15in the European stage. But Ruffey's point is, domestically, who's better than him?
00:16:20If I was picking somebody in a left-back role, and somebody could possibly be criticising
00:16:25me here because of the 3-5-2 that Hibbs have now adopted, but I would take Nicky Cadden
00:16:29all day. I think his distribution into the box as an attacking full-back is second to
00:16:36none. I think he's been absolutely marvellous every time I've seen him.
00:16:39Yeah, and obviously they play a different system for Celtic. Celtic play the four and they
00:16:42play three, and the wing-back suits them, yeah.
00:16:44Is Greg Taylor a better player than Nicky Cadden? Am I being unkind to Greg? I'm a fan of Greg Taylor.
00:16:49Yeah, no, I think Greg Taylor's a better player. I like Nicky Cadden, I think he's excellent,
00:16:53but I think you've got to look at their overall careers, and I think that Greg's played at
00:16:57a far higher level. But I think if you're Greg Taylor and Greg Taylor's agent, you're
00:17:00delighted that Callum Gregor's come out and said that.
00:17:02Is he the best role-back then, if I can't pick one? Is there somebody better?
00:17:06Taylor's of a left-back, I think.
00:17:07Ben Rice?
00:17:07Nah, I think Greg Taylor's the best left-back in Scotland, but I think that, you know, in
00:17:12terms of, well, who've Rangers got?
00:17:15Heelmaz?
00:17:15Yeah.
00:17:16Nah, I think he's better than...
00:17:17GFD?
00:17:17Nah.
00:17:18Nah, I'll go for Taylor. I think he's underrated, Peter. I've said it all season, I think he's
00:17:21really, really underrated. I think he was a scapegoat in the Champions League games.
00:17:25You know, maybe teams target him at the back post and stuff, but you're playing...
00:17:28I remember he played against the boy...
00:17:29Alisi had scored at Parkhead. Bok in a rickish shade off when he came inside him and put
00:17:35it in the roof of the net and he got slaughtered for it, but I think he has been a wee bit of
00:17:38a scapegoat at times, but I think he's a really, really good player, Greg Taylor, underrated.
00:17:42It's a great argument. Give us your thoughts on it. Ruffey thinks he's the best full-back
00:17:45in the country. Callum McGregor thinks he's the best inverted full-back in Europe. Do you
00:17:51agree with that? Always good to get a talking point on that. Dundee United against Celtic.
00:17:56How do you see it going, Ruffey?
00:17:57I'm going to go Celtic to win 2-1.
00:17:593-0 to Celtic.
00:18:013-0 to Celtic. Okay. You can give us your thoughts on that. Can't see anything other
00:18:06than a Celtic win for that one. St Mirren against Rangers. Interesting one, this one, because
00:18:11obviously we had Steven Robinson in talking about the delight at getting that six-figure
00:18:15fee to Yossi Olasanya, who's off to America. But when you look at this game against Rangers,
00:18:24the interesting news is coming out of the Rangers press conference because Barry
00:18:29Ferguson clearly is going to be bombarded with questions now. Can he get the manager's
00:18:34job? Does he want the manager's job? What talks have taken place? All of these questions
00:18:39thrown at him and this is what he had to say.
00:18:41If I get the job, I will make my club a better club. If I don't get the job, I'll still support
00:18:47my club. That's the way I'm looking at it. I've got five games to go. The final games on
00:18:55the 17th May. My focus is on this next few weeks. There's been a few bumps since I've come in. I knew that
00:19:04was going to be the case, but I wasn't frightened of that. But I know what this club needs.
00:19:08OK, he's demanded five wins. He wants 15 points from the five games. Does he need to get 15 points to
00:19:18even throw himself in as a contender?
00:19:20I think the wheels are in motion now for the people that are coming in, the boy from Everton. I think it's
00:19:27just drifting away from him just now. I think that Atletico result, you know, if he'd won that, he would
00:19:34have had a better chance. I think the fans are resigning now that he's not big enough to get it. I think they're
00:19:41looking for somebody big. We all always say, who is that Mr Big that's going to get it right? I don't think he's done
00:19:47anything wrong. I don't think the five wins will get him the job. I think wheels are in motion just
00:19:54now to identify who the next manager is going to be.
00:19:57Do you think it's going to be somebody from the past? No.
00:20:00I don't think it's going to be Jose Mourinho. No.
00:20:02Do you think they're going to look to Gerrard again or is Kevin Thelwell going to come up with somebody as
00:20:07sporting director?
00:20:08I don't know. I listened to Kevin Thelwell yesterday on, I think it was Rangers TV on the club channel,
00:20:12and he spoke about his time at New York Red Bulls. He spoke about recruiting players,
00:20:16recruiting players for a certain style of play. They had a certain criteria for players
00:20:24to come in. They had to play a certain way for Red Bulls, and that was the manager as
00:20:29well. That was the whole ethos of the club. So I think he'll do the same. I think he'll
00:20:33have a big scene bringing the manager in, Kevin Thelwell with the new owners, and I think
00:20:38that they will go down a route where they're going to play a certain way. They're going to
00:20:41give a certain manager who wants to play a certain way, who wants to buy certain players.
00:20:45I don't think Barry's going to be the manager. It's interesting to hear him saying that if
00:20:49he doesn't manage Rangers, then he wouldn't manage anyone else. I don't know about that
00:20:53one, Peter. I think that I thought maybe coming back into Rangers, he'd maybe get the bug back
00:20:57for coaching, and I think he's done reasonably well. He's put himself in a shop window for
00:21:01other jobs. So do I see him going back to that ambassador role at Rangers? If a club comes
00:21:06in from a decent club, then I'm not so sure on that one.
00:21:10What's a decent club in Scotland?
00:21:12It might be a decent, I don't know, a Premier League club in Scotland, another Premier League
00:21:15club, maybe a club in England, I don't know. But I think he's done well enough at Rangers
00:21:19for other chairmen in other clubs to go, he might be worth taking a punt on.
00:21:24Yeah. I just, again, I reiterate my opinion, Ruffy, that I cannot see him go back as an
00:21:31ambassador. I don't see how you can waltz around the hospitality suites if a manager
00:21:37gets off to a bad start and everybody's giving it. Barry, what do you make of that? Every
00:21:40line he opens his mouth, they'll be all over him.
00:21:43Yeah, I agree with that, 100%.
00:21:45Can you have a manager knowing he's hovering about in the ground?
00:21:49As an ambassador, they'd probably get away with it. I think he's justified a coaching
00:21:53slot somewhere. You know, I know he wouldn't want to go into the academy or anything like
00:21:57that, but...
00:21:58You don't give Barry Ferguson a coaching job when he's been the manager.
00:22:01I think he would...
00:22:02He's sitting in the background then waiting, it's almost as if you've got somebody on your
00:22:05shoulder.
00:22:06He would rather be in the coaching staff than being an ambassador, I would think, if that
00:22:10was offered to him. You know, because he's still... You know how much the club means
00:22:14to him and...
00:22:18Barry Ferguson's another one. He's calling the shots here. You know, he's the one that
00:22:24decides when they come to him and offer him whatever, whether he wants to do it or not.
00:22:28The manager's job, he'll have had an eye opener of what it's like being in a club like
00:22:33Rangers and having to manage 24 hours. He's been down to England, he's been to Blackburn,
00:22:38he's been to Blackpool, he knows his drift down there. It depends whether he's seen
00:22:43it and done it, and he's now achieved what he wanted to do his whole life, would be the
00:22:47manager of Rangers, whether he wants to take a step back and just enjoy his life.
00:22:52Tam?
00:22:53I agree with Ruffy there. It depends on Barry, Peter. He might, as Ruffy says, he's fulfilled
00:22:58his dream, he's played for Rangers, he's managed Rangers. He might go back to that ambassador
00:23:03role and be quite happy, you know, and going out and meeting supporters and doing speakers'
00:23:07nights and stuff like that. It might just be what he wants at the minute, but I don't
00:23:12know. I just think when you've experienced the highs that he has, you know, going to Fenerbahce
00:23:16and winning and going and playing at Athleto Bilboa Stadium in a semi-quarter final, surely
00:23:22you get a wee itch that you think that I could still be a manager here if someone comes in for me.
00:23:27So I didn't agree with you on kind of shutting that door today on any other coaching roles.
00:23:33Yeah. Brian, who's sometimes contentious on our feed, says, it's obvious Sean Dyche will
00:23:39be the new Rangers manager. Watch this space. Not a chance. Not a chance. I'm curious to see
00:23:47what Kevin Thelwell decides to do. It's a big, big call for him. You walk in the job and you're
00:23:53automatically. One, the experience that he does have, you know, from Everton to the MLS,
00:24:00you'll be looking and saying to yourself, OK, the demands are unbelievably different for
00:24:06Rangers on this one.
00:24:07Definitely. You know, anybody that comes in that front door will realise how big a club
00:24:12it is, you know, and the demands we've already seen. The supporters demand that you win the
00:24:18the big games as well as, you know, most of the other ones. So it's something that he,
00:24:23all right, Everton has a big, big club and I suppose that the American football is big,
00:24:28but I think the Rangers as a club is absolutely humongous throughout the world.
00:24:34Yeah, absolutely. Suddenly they come up against St Mirren. If he wants those 15 points,
00:24:40he needs to get a win at a place where, you know, they've had a good battle on their hands.
00:24:44St Mirren have actually got the best record against Rangers this season. Two wins, one loss.
00:24:48Yeah, it's a tricky game, Peter, and we've seen Rangers, you know, at times, particularly
00:24:51away from home this season, getting bullied at times. I know St Mirren obviously beat them
00:24:54around about Christmas time at St Mirren Park under the previous manager, but that's
00:24:59a really tricky game for Rangers. Depends how motivated Rangers players are now. You know,
00:25:03it's Barry, it's up to him and the staff to make sure they're motivated to go and finish
00:25:07the season strongly, but they've got nothing to play for really. A lot of those players,
00:25:12so, you know, it just depends what frame of mind they turn up on. St Mirren, I think,
00:25:16will keep battling away. They've still got a slight chance to get into Europe and they'll
00:25:19keep battling away, you know, but Stephen Robinson, they'll battle hard and it just
00:25:23depends what Rangers turn up here. If it's a strong Rangers performance and they go in
00:25:27and they're up for it and you can see in the first 15, 20 minutes, then they would
00:25:30go win the game. But if they're slightly off it at all, I think St Mirren will take a scalp.
00:25:34Yeah, St Mirren, Stephen Robinson, he says he wants the 10 points. He's going to battle
00:25:38away to see if he can somehow get, you know, a phenomenal set of results to give them a
00:25:44chance, an outside chance that has to be said. Long shot at best to get European football,
00:25:50but nevertheless, you certainly feel heartened by the fact that they've taken Rangers' scalp
00:25:55on two occasions. The blow for Rangers, Yilmaz out for the rest of the season, but I'm not
00:26:00as sure about the fact that there's no meaningless games. I mean, if anything,
00:26:04Barry's demanded 15 points, but sometimes, Ruffy, you know what it's like. Sometimes
00:26:09you get a situation where an old firm win at Ibrox suddenly changes, you know, the mindset
00:26:16of some fans depending on the way you can win the game, if they indeed do win it. Because
00:26:22if Celtic win at Dundee United, what happens, Tam? They all celebrate, the champagne's out in
00:26:28the dressing room, they head back to Celtic Park, they have a few scoops there, they maybe
00:26:32get a chance to get a couple of days off, and before you know it, it's May 4th, it's Ibrox,
00:26:37is there any real motivation? You've won the league.
00:26:40Yeah, and I think Brendan Rodgers handled the last one when they got beat at Parkhead quite
00:26:45comfortably, you know, he sort of shrugged it off as this, well, it's another game, blah,
00:26:50blah, blah. And I think the same would happen if Rangers were to beat them at Ibrox, you know,
00:26:55because obviously, for me, the cup final at the end of the season is the one that all
00:27:00the supporters remember. If you win it, that gives you two months for the supporters to
00:27:05celebrate with that cup win. And I think, you touched on it there the other day, there'll
00:27:10be certain Rangers players now going, am I going to be here next year? You know, am I out the door?
00:27:16Yeah. You know, you're going to have a dressing room with maybe four or five guys going, you
00:27:21know, do I need to put a shift in here to get a move, or am I going to get offered a contract?
00:27:25It'd be interesting to see, he said he's going to get a couple of young boys a chance. It'd
00:27:29be interesting to see if he throws a couple of young boys in to see what they can do.
00:27:32I think supporters always like to see young boys getting a game, but if you're saying he
00:27:36wants to win the last five games, I don't think he'll do that with youngsters.
00:27:40Amazingly though, I think the one that's going to be heading out the door, I think it'll
00:27:44be the last five games of James Tavernier as captain. I think James Tavernier will look
00:27:49and say to himself, well I've put my shift in, I've done my bit, I've taken a lot of
00:27:54criticism, maybe not won as many titles as people think he should have, but he's scored
00:28:01a heck of a lot of goals and I think he'll probably look and say to himself, time for pastures
00:28:06new.
00:28:07Yeah, I think individually Peter, he's been a tremendous fullback for Rangers, I think
00:28:12individually in terms of his goals, his assists in big games, but I think when you're a captain
00:28:16of the Rangers, you're judged on trophies and he hasn't won enough trophies at Rangers.
00:28:20That's not completely his fault, he's played in some poor teams. He was obviously part
00:28:25of the team that stopped 10 in a row, which that whole squad will go down in history as
00:28:29well Peter.
00:28:30That's a few dinners, Tom.
00:28:31That is a few dinners for him.
00:28:33That squad that stopped to 10, we'll go down and float low with the Rangers supporters,
00:28:38but I think overall we look at him individually, great player for Rangers, but as a Celtic Rangers
00:28:43player, you're judged on how many trophies did you win and unfortunately for him and Rangers,
00:28:47they didn't win enough and that's what ultimately, when you're at the old firm, you're judged on winning.
00:28:51Yeah.
00:28:52Okay.
00:28:53Okay, we've got...
00:28:54Still not going to be upset when that call comes to Saudi.
00:28:58At the end of the day, if James Tavernier gives a call from Saudi with massive amounts
00:29:05of money, roll on.
00:29:08Aberdeen against Hebb.
00:29:09Just out of curiosity, how do you see it going to St Myrna Rangers?
00:29:12I think St Myrna will get a draw, I'll go for one each.
00:29:14I think Rangers will sneak a 2-1 win.
00:29:16Yeah.
00:29:17Okay, I'll go for a draw on that.
00:29:18I'm with you on that, Tam.
00:29:19I'm not so sure.
00:29:20I wonder about the motivation.
00:29:22No need to get everybody up for a game against Celtic, but St Myrna, they've proved to be
00:29:27a real thorn in their side this season.
00:29:29What do you think?
00:29:30Give us your point of view on that.
00:29:32That's two games down that we've been talking about.
00:29:34Dundee United against Celtic is going to be title celebrations for Celtic.
00:29:3855 is the number, Tam, and I lay odds on quite a few t-shirts.
00:29:45There'll be the videos, there'll be the noise-ups.
00:29:47About 55 titles for Celtic now.
00:29:50Yeah, and obviously Rangers clinched 55 by stopping 10 in a row, and they obviously milked
00:29:55that up with the merchandise, and I think Celtic will do the same.
00:29:58I think all clubs, when they win a big number in terms of trophies and stuff, they'll get
00:30:03the DVDs and the videos and the t-shirts out and they'll have a lot of banter.
00:30:06But yeah, I think that it's only a matter of time before Celtic go further ahead of Rangers.
00:30:10Yeah, okay.
00:30:11Give us your thoughts on that as well.
00:30:13And Rangers fans out there, if Barry gets five wins out of five, including a win over Celtic,
00:30:18does he really put himself at the forefront of your mind?
00:30:21Are you still in the Barry camp, or are you now looking and thinking,
00:30:24Kevin Thelwell, the sporting director, will be looking elsewhere at a new name
00:30:29that's going to take Rangers forward, build the club, have that strategy that John Bennett mentioned,
00:30:34that interim chairman, of course, John mentioned as well to us, Gilligan, on countless occasions,
00:30:43which is quite simply, you know, you've got to have a long-term strategy,
00:30:47you've got to recruit better, the structure of the club needs to be put back in place at all levels.
00:30:53Give us your thoughts on that as well. Before we go to talk about Aberdeen Hibbs,
00:30:59Tam's been quite loud in his column and, of course, on our programme about the Hibbies
00:31:06and some of the players that were not in the team of the year.
00:31:09We'll get his thoughts on that after we let you see what we're offering now.

00:32:42S-Polz Soccer – yeah absolutely.
00:32:43S-Polz Soccer – Paul Brady says Tam you're a lump of wood.

00:33:16stories are going to be absolutely fantastic we'll tell you about that on Monday but our PLZ premium
00:33:21service is up and available now to you and there's lots of really good exclusive content coming for
00:33:27that anyway Aberdeen against Timbs what a game this is going to be some people are raging Michael
00:33:32Stewart's raging because it's not on normal television there could be a queue you know longer
00:33:40than Bonnie Blue at your house just people trying to get into you people trying to get in to watch
00:33:45the game yeah it's disappointing that that game's not on the telly don't you pretend you don't know
00:33:53who that is no listen it's going to be a fantastic game I think when you look at the both teams
00:34:01where they are on the table and Hibs got there probably won the game I think they'll all but
00:34:05clinch third place Aberdeen won it I think they're leveling points with them so really really big game
00:34:10Hibs big boost today Jack Airedale signed the new deal and obviously David Gray signed the new
00:34:16contract which is well deserved as well so they get into the game on a high one up at Aberdeen
00:34:21in the season and you're just looking at maybe four points for the next two games for Hibs and
00:34:25they've got the third in the bag should it be on the telly yeah it should be Peter I I think that
00:34:29really why shouldn't it be of course it should it's it's a battle for third place well it's
00:34:3413-8 against Celtic and Celtic are going to win the title well I think Aberdeen Hibs should always
00:34:39be on the telly I think that's a big game do you give it to Premier Sports I don't know what they'll do
00:34:43Peter I don't know what I'm saying should you yeah something like that yeah yeah I think that
00:34:47I think there should be games kept aside towards the end of the season with something to play for
00:34:51with something on the line um listen you can't predict Aberdeen Hibs is going to be a third place
00:34:55shootout but yeah I think that games like that of that ilk and that magnitude should always be on
00:35:01the TV for fans to watch but listen about full house at Bataudry Hibs have a good allocation up
00:35:05there and a big great atmosphere and I'm sure that he'll be covered on club TV so no I just hope that
00:35:10house can go and get a winning clinch really enough clinch third place is is time indicative
00:35:14of this generation who demand that television dictates you know and gets what it wants and
00:35:21should be allowed to show that sort of game you know where really um you know apart from club TV
00:35:26out with the UK shores um you've got guaranteed an absolute sellout up there at Bataudry the place
00:35:33will be buzzing it'll be a great atmosphere but obviously like everything there's a lot of fans
00:35:39won't be able to get to that game uh probably more not seeing it than than are actually seeing
00:35:44it so Tam's right you know if you can keep you know an avenue of games important games up your
00:35:51sleeve that you can use but uh certainly when you see some of the the dross that gets shown at the
00:35:56weekend you know particularly down in England some of the games they show there I think Aberdeen
00:36:00and Hibs would just outshine most of them yeah um 2-0 to the Dandy Dons tomorrow says Aurora
00:36:07I hope Tam is heading to the game to witness our dazzling flag display when was the last time
00:36:11you were when was the last time you were at a game after you know while Peter and I yeah in a while
00:36:16it's not really quite good is it it's not really good enough is it rather watch something on my big
00:36:21satellite telly exactly there's no point talking to you about it you two dimwits have been to see
00:36:26Scottish Premiership football um can you see your screen for the jacuzzi yeah absolutely uh but you should know
00:36:34yeah nevertheless uh I think it's going to be a fabulous atmosphere our man our man
00:36:39flags will be there oh flags oh flags oh stand will just be there'll be there'll be two wee guys
00:36:45holding a big 40 foot flag over there do you think the flamethrower over there yes that's the
00:36:49new it's the new american thing as long as it's controlled by the club yeah not in the stands okay
00:36:54uh can I just say uh can I just say two more wins guarantees uh hibs you know european football
00:37:06and it'll be a fantastic season and no surprise uh david grey he signed a new deal he's just been
00:37:12unbelievable a new three-year contract with the club which is which is no more than he deserves yeah
00:37:18it's incredible the season that hibs have had you know he looked like a dead man walking for a large part
00:37:23earlier in the season i think dundee away 4-1 you know catalog errors for the defenders a goalkeeper
00:37:29was was hopeless you know you just thought to yourself so i'm out of time before before david
00:37:34gets the bullet and have us go with someone else three two down esther sockler scores overhead kick
00:37:39three two down you're thinking that's it and then big rocky basheery pops up you know tackles
00:37:44the bond in the net for three each and ever since then peter it's been a totally different
00:37:48you know scenario it has you know it's been it's been tremendous i've been went unbeaten for a long
00:37:54period of time rocky basheery's come back into form and they changed the goalkeeper jordan smith's come
00:37:59in been excellent and jack airedale's come into the team they've went three at the back
00:38:02i think david grey's just united the whole club i think the whole club's behind them now you know
00:38:07the supporters are behind them you know winning big games beating hearts you know beating celtic beating
00:38:11rangers you know and climbing up that table so no i think he thoroughly deserves it him liam craig
00:38:16you know samson and the staff i think they all deserve big credit for turning it around but
00:38:21eddie may eddie may i think they all deserve credit i didn't look at my glasses on
00:38:26no but not listening they all deserve massive credit it's thoroughly deserved um because listen
00:38:32the supporters love david grey for what he done in the cup final scoring that goal you know they're
00:38:36all behind him they're all willing to do well and uh it's great to see him doing well at the
00:38:40minute but they've still got a wee bit of work to do to finish third but he's thoroughly deserves
00:38:44that contract yeah and the reason why he's been able to turn it around ruffy is i think he's made
00:38:50conscious decisions to change the way the side has played that three at the back has worked really
00:38:54well the two attacking fullbacks um the cadden have been fantastic lewis lewis miller's come in at times
00:39:02um i think lewis miller's got a long way to go um he's he's obviously they're going to keep him at the
00:39:09club as well but i i think he's i think he's got a look at the cadden brothers and try and take a
00:39:14leaf out of their book on distribution um i think he needs to work on that but going forward you know
00:39:19in the middle joan you can't get a game in the middle they've got it right iredale's just signed
00:39:24a new deal as well extended his contract and then you've got martin boyle 16 goals ruffy that's no mean
00:39:30no and he'd went off the boil without the pun uh and now yeah they're playing his strengths now
00:39:39uh he seems to have just got the team right the right players in the right positions because if
00:39:45we remember back to the beginning of the season it was kamikaze stuff some of the goals we were
00:39:49losing and some of the particular players that were on the team just weren't good enough and he
00:39:53sorted it out that's that's the he's identified three of the backs best the two the two the two
00:39:59wide boys and getting the boy to boil as often as quick as possible and i think everybody i don't
00:40:05think there's been a failure and this is without newell who was the main man in the middle they
00:40:09haven't had him all season so yeah you have to give them credit for everything they've done
00:40:13peter everybody knows their job at hubs i think when you look at throughout the team you know the
00:40:17goalkeeper knows his job defenders defend you know they're going head at the kick it don't take
00:40:21chances at the back wing backs push up to put early balls into the box for two strikers you know
00:40:26boyle runs in behind whether it's kukarevic coming short or early johan whoever it was
00:40:31kieran bowie you know the midfield players are all combative in there they all win second balls
00:40:36you know and they're all they're all on the same page they all know what they're doing they're all
00:40:39organized and they're all aware of their jobs peter and i think that's been a clear change from
00:40:44early in the season where a lot of players were letting them do individual errors goalkeepers defenders
00:40:48making mistakes so no i think that definitely you know that's been a difference for me changing
00:40:5323-5-2 and just everyone on the same page yeah um okay it's uh it as we head towards
00:41:00the end of the season we're asking a quick the question on the game but also who's going to
00:41:05finish third rob lilly says that third hibs fourth paisley saints fifth aberdeen um which would be an
00:41:13interesting twist on it um have you changed your mind i've i've i've gone for hibs for quite a long time
00:41:19yeah i'm going to go for hibs as well yeah i think the momentum's worth if you see any of the
00:41:24the end of the season games momentum means everything you know if you're winning games
00:41:28you're you're confident in beating anybody yeah obviously the these teams at the top
00:41:33obviously rangers and celtic taking 10 with so they'll be looking at the other teams and if they
00:41:38can beat they they three then they've got a chance before you give me your uh prediction on it jimmy
00:41:42to lean um doesn't see this game as a must win i think we always have to think like uh right now
00:41:50and never give up anything like we have to fight for everything till the end of the last uh the last
00:41:56game of the season last points that's uh for me it's uh whatever happens tomorrow we're going to
00:42:02try to win this game we know it's important but it's a character of the team and and who knows maybe
00:42:08win the the last four and they lose to whatever but let's see i don't i don't want to speculate
00:42:15as i said i'll we'll go for the game tomorrow yeah he's not going to be on it i think hibs are going
00:42:21to win it yeah i'm going to go for hibs 2-1 peter i think that will but seal it and i think they've
00:42:25got done united at home they've got rangers at home and then celtic and st myrna away i think the
00:42:32fixtures have turned out well i think this is a this is a crucial one you know hibs can't afford to lose
00:42:36it i think a draw would be fine because i would expect celtic to beat dundee united but a win
00:42:40would just you know about clinch third place i'll go for two win the hibs yeah the dandies um they've
00:42:45got three games at home roughly they've got celtic at home uh well they've got two games at home they've
00:42:50got hibs and then they've got celtic um and then they've got three games away and of course they'll
00:42:55get the cup final yeah i will say that the three home games are important three points is massive at
00:43:02the stage of the the season i can't split the two of them i'm going to go for one each tomorrow
00:43:06yeah okay what's your thoughts on it who's going to finish third who is going to sneak it will it
00:43:12be david gray celebrating or jimmy to lean who's slowly but surely steadied the ship again and could
00:43:17land that piece of silverware at hamden as well uh you can't rule out the dons in a one-off game can
00:43:23they defeat celtic and stop them winning the treble uh is it going to be title celebrations up at
00:43:28tanadice uh give us your thoughts on that who's manager of the year for you as well
00:43:32we'd love to know your thoughts on that suddenly uh i'm looking at hearts against dundee in the bottom
00:43:38six games and boy it's it's one of those things where i'm going to closely look at the home
00:43:45attendance and whether there's any real motivation for hearts fans to be going into hospitality to be
00:43:53supporting the side the way they have over the course of the season because they are bitterly
00:43:57disappointed yeah listen i think that um obviously it's been a really disappointing season from my
00:44:02heart's point of view and started poorly had a little bit of an upturn under neil critchley but
00:44:07just faded at the end you know a couple of really winnable games done united the mother when they
00:44:11didn't win any of them when one win would have got them into the top six so no i think the fans will
00:44:15still turn out peter i think they'll still be there and they'll still be there in their numbers and
00:44:19supporting the team but they need to start winning games you know and i think neil critchley needs to
00:44:23finish the season strong i said that last week i think he needs to go and win one four or five of
00:44:28the games you know and really yeah i think so and really show that listen okay we didn't get in the
00:44:33top six but we're building for the future and the supporters can see it he's got a perfect opportunity
00:44:38peter there's no really much pressure on them at all you know they've got four in the bottom six
00:44:42they've got five games that should be winning you know winnable games and they should be going and
00:44:47winning you know four or five of them so yeah i think he's got to win i think he will beat dundee i think they
00:44:51all win and they but i think he needs to finish the season strongly if they don't beat dundee the
00:44:56pressure will increase again for them well he's got three home games ruffy before the end of the
00:44:59season he's got dundee he's got ross county away then it's motherwell and st johnson at home and then
00:45:05kilmarnock away in the last day well you look at the three home games you you would think that uh on
00:45:10their day they should be comfortable enough to win them but uh pressure can do a funny thing you know
00:45:15and i think if they don't win tomorrow you'll hear the hearts fans hearing their views i think they could be
00:45:21quite a lot of uproar if dundee were to beat hearts tomorrow tess yeah i think so you think
00:45:27so yeah banners yeah there won't be flamethrowers that's a certain but i have to tell you this
00:45:33i think he's going to get the summer to get players in yeah i think they're going to stick with him
00:45:38i don't see them sacking him unless they i mean if you lost five games people would have to say
00:45:43look he's got he's got he's got he won three or four of their games peter he's way yeah the home
00:45:47games particularly yeah and then and then maybe he could sustain losing to ross county and kilmarnock
00:45:54yeah but not only see coming in and criticizing for for a long long time now the board are getting
00:46:00criticized yeah they're having to go to the board now you usually the ones have made a mess of this
00:46:04years you've done this you've done that so that's not a good thing either so the only person the only
00:46:09way to shut that up is winning games and that's what they have to do okay do you think they're going
00:46:13to win yeah i think dundee are on free fall yeah going to go hearts 2-0 yeah i think hearts 2-1 i
00:46:20think they might just nick it i think he's got he's got to do something yeah 2-1 to hearts i think
00:46:23dundee will score yeah 2-1 okay uh killie against ross county um boy derrick mckinnis not happy
00:46:30playing bottom six games i'm fine with the game i'd rather i'm annoyed that we're in this situation but
00:46:36i'd rather nobody in the bottom six and but the fact we are in the bottom six and
00:46:40we've got to be honest and say that there's not been a lot between us we've not been good enough
00:46:45to get away from the teams that are running around us and but we've still got that opportunity now to
00:46:51deal with so just try to be as professional and switched on as possible and just deal with what's
00:46:57in front of us yeah um you can understand why uh he's miffed with it and and the reason i think that
00:47:04we've highlighted time and time again is sometimes okay for cells one player he's a big player for them
00:47:10he was a captain he could bring other players into the game scores a goal but really really good at
00:47:15holding the ball up it's amazing when you lose that linchpin um how they've really kind of lost so
00:47:21many games it hasn't looked good for them they've got three home games as well with a trip away to
00:47:26st johnston and motherwell yeah listen i've been disappointed me coming on this season peter i think
00:47:31that when you see how good they were last season you know they finished in the top six they got into
00:47:35europe you know played a real good attacking grander football i think danny amstrong's been
00:47:39really off the boil this year i think he was a big catalyst for him last year his goals visele
00:47:43visele's probably their key player i think if you took carl mcgregor out of the celtic team i think
00:47:49he'd be similar to that you know he's a key player for them um danny amstrong's been poor this season
00:47:53um they've missed me boy kendy for a while i think stuart finley's been injured so they have had some
00:47:58injuries to key players but i just think that i think they are where they are deserve to be peter i think
00:48:03i don't think they deserve to be in the top six and they are in a real relegation scrap you know i
00:48:08think they probably need another four points maybe but ross county and command you know probably settle
00:48:14for a draw here i think that you know four points would probably get them safe i think that when you
00:48:19look at i think st johnston are gone and then when you look at the clubs below them you know dundee
00:48:24ross county i think command will just scrape it but if they get beat off of ross county then they are
00:48:29banging that playoff shout yeah um i'm gonna i'm gonna actually i mean i'm gonna suggest that
00:48:37dundee i've said they'll lose it to hearts i think dundee might just scrape a point above ross county
00:48:44in this playoff battle yeah i think dundee will get better players than ross county uh and i think a
00:48:50lot of the games have been playing attractive football they've been scoring goals uh unfortunately
00:48:55losing a lot of bad goals i think if a crunch came uh the dundee ross county game i don't know
00:49:01where that is but that could be the crucial one for me but uh because i can't see ross county winning
00:49:06many games away from home at home i can see them winning games so that ross county game against dundee
00:49:13will be crucial for me it's at dens park it's the second last game of the season well you've got
00:49:18to fancy dundee there yeah well we've got to dundee it's been a while since you've been up at dundee
00:49:22yeah you're wearing your big onesie and you went to the toilet at half time and never came back for
00:49:27about an hour it's true yes i don't remember that clearly yeah i think the last i think the last
00:49:34thing the dundee fans wanted to see in a relegation battle was me walking into the grunt yeah absolutely
00:49:38i think they would just go you are the jonah um and to be to be fair stephen robinson doesn't want to
00:49:44see me it's in my own games just in case i bring him bad luck as well but uh i'm amazed i mean i've got a
00:49:50lot of time i'm not against it on cowie and ross county i just think derek's a good manager i like
00:49:56derek i've known him for a long long time and and i look at the side and i look at what he achieved i
00:50:02think european football absolutely killed them this year it just it stretched their resources and put
00:50:08them in this downward spiral and they've never really recovered at times not only from setbacks
00:50:13with injuries but just getting any kind of momentum but i i think they'll have enough
00:50:19one nil against county yeah i think they'll win at home as well i think comarnock's problem has been
00:50:25that as tam's identified there there are five players you had injured there didn't you and
00:50:29they'd nothing in reserve they'd no quality replacing that you know and that was their downfall because
00:50:35they relied so much on these big big players to win games for them but i do think they're good
00:50:40enough to win at home one each for me peter i think that's kind of a good point okay motherwell
00:50:44against st johnston um you know i'll tell you one thing a great credit to motherwell they're really
00:50:49are putting in some great effort to try and get their fans on board get them in involved in the
00:50:55community they're promotional i mean i know uh all clubs start to put out uh promotional uh videos to
00:51:01get people in the season tickets celtic i've got martin comston out you know talking about come and
00:51:06join the club motherwell have really kind of emphasized the community and and come around
00:51:11and support your local club and great great credit to all the clubs for putting it out i saw
00:51:15motherwell's video this week i thought yeah brilliant they really work hard at it they've
00:51:20got a home game against st johnson we think st johnson are gone it's a must win game i think if
00:51:25motherwell win this i think they're 10 points ahead of st johnson at the minute if they win this i
00:51:29think they'll that's them safe is that right peter 10 points ahead of bottom at the minute yeah i'm
00:51:33i'm not having i don't think motherwell are in any danger of getting relegated or even in a playoff
00:51:38no i think they might i mean if they lose of the game then they might be but i think yeah they're
00:51:42not going to have no i think if they can pick up a point against st johnson and even a win then
00:51:46they're then they're safe but st johnson are scrapping for their lives you know a real sore one
00:51:50against celtic obviously in the semi-final but you know they've they've picked they've definitely
00:51:54picked up a performance in the league later and gave themselves an opportunity but i think i think
00:51:57motherwell win this at home i think motherwell just know one more win gets them safe and they won't don't want
00:52:02to get even within seven points of st johnson we fight with with four games left so i think motherwell
00:52:08will win it just add it to one here's a motherwell boss michael vimmer so who wants who wants to to
00:52:13stay who wants to to play for this club this is this is so lovely now for me to see this who who let
00:52:20his heart on the on the pitch to to to play for for motherwell and to to to help to yeah to secure the
00:52:28the starters in the league as soon as possible and and this is uh for me perfect and this is also
00:52:34yeah this also um influence my my decisions for the for the squad for next season well he's thrown
00:52:43down the gauntlet do you want to stay yeah i think he's already made up his mind there's about maybe
00:52:4710 players that will be looking to go elsewhere he'll be going out the door some going back to
00:52:51their parent clubs he'll get a chance to bring his own style of player in that he'll be able to run
00:52:55about because he wants a high press yeah i think you're right you know i think uh lennon miller
00:53:00will be gone as well yeah and that'll be money you can play with i don't know much that money would
00:53:04be but uh certainly there are players there that have to move on it looks as if motherwell's at a
00:53:09stage now when they need you know a whole overhaul you know to get them back on track again yeah
00:53:15um okay uh motherwell to win 2-1 yeah for me oh 2-1 we're all there 2-1 okay um thanks to so
00:53:23many of you for putting uh your opinions out we try and read out as many of them as possible
00:53:28some people just uh making uh statements um and smart simpson says peter every treble celtic one in
00:53:35this period of domination rangers were in the league uh yeah listen mark full march to it i'm not in any
00:53:41way uh disputing that i'm just saying i just pointed out that you know when celtic won um you know in
00:53:49this 13 out of 14 seasons there was a period where rangers were not in the league and but it wasn't
00:53:54celtic's fault celtic just have to keep winning the games winning the games against uh what is put in
00:53:59front of you and and and my point is that when when rangers were winning their nine in a row celtic
00:54:05were you know poor uh a sixth out of the nine that rangers won celtic were not the main contender
00:54:12um and again this time around i think brendan rogers won't give two hoots um if he gets the
00:54:18treble and he says it's going to be his best ever season you have to take the man's words you can
00:54:23debate it as well and work out whether you think it's been a great treble season i personally um
00:54:29think that celtic's performance in europe and the one um that was a heavy defeat that we all questioned
00:54:35whether he'd learned his lesson or not i think great credit must go to the celtic manager for the way
00:54:40they played against bayern munich it still sticks with me as the best display i've seen from celtic
00:54:46in many a year and and you look back and you and i think it's up there with what gordon strach and
00:54:51neil lennon and martin and neil produced in big games yeah well he always said he come back to
00:54:57progress in europe and he's done that you know and uh they were particularly good and then most of the
00:55:03games you know and if it's a progression that they're looking for i think the celtic supporters
00:55:07i'll be looking for that again next year yeah absolutely um listening to the championship big
00:55:11game big game uh we've got a brilliant documentary coming out uh at falkirk it's either going to be
00:55:17falkirk the champions or can you believe they blew it um we don't know what the title is going to be
00:55:22in this documentary yet but we're certainly filming it as we go along wondering thought it was going to
00:55:27be last weekend didn't quite materialize now they're at fair hill and a number of their players
00:55:32were on show in the pfa teams of the year and blair maloy was there to cover it here at the
00:55:40hilton hotel in glasgow the pfa championship league one and league two player of the year nominees
00:55:45have been announced it's no surprise that the championship shortlist has been populated
00:55:50by players from the three teams that have been vying for the league title all season there's calvin
00:55:55miller and brad spencer from falkirk robbie muirhead from livingston and jay henderson is in there from
00:56:01air united falkirk they could have wrapped up the title last weekend but were undone
00:56:06by late goals in that defeat to wraith rovers however they know that a win tonight against
00:56:10patek thistle will all but seal the championship title and for forward kelvin miller it's all about
00:56:16embracing the pressure at this time of the season we've got a squad that's um really harsh on ourselves
00:56:22in a good sense and i feel like that's why we've always bounced back and in disappointment
00:56:28moment so i think um friday nights partake are still fighting for something as well and so are
00:56:33we so we always want to go get first and they want to get fourth of playoffs so it'll be a tough game
00:56:38and um two teams will probably have different game plans but uh no i think you just got to relish these
00:56:43moments scott arfield has chipped in with eight goals since arriving at falkirk in january and brad
00:56:50spencer says it's all about tapping into the 36 year old experience of these big games this has
00:56:56obviously been there and done it played in europe league finals i think he played in and obviously
00:57:00won leagues with rangers everything like that been with burnley all these years huddersfield so i think
00:57:04to anybody that comes in and doesn't learn anything off him or take anything off him be quite daft
00:57:08of ourselves so it's just about remaining focused and he's he's stressed that as much as everybody else
00:57:13tune in across all of plz soccer's social media channels as we'll be back here on monday
00:57:19where the scottish premiership scottish young player and scottish women's player of the year nominees

00:57:43thank you for liking sharing and following uh what we are doing and your support for our programming on
00:57:49our youtube channel has been absolutely magnificent so thank you for that um okay falkirk
00:57:56i think they'll win comfortably tonight and win the league yeah no party this will just nick that
00:58:01okay there you are roughly still waving the banner as ever uh just a quick nod to liverpool
00:58:06they'll beat tottenham and might win the europa league and get sacked
00:58:10well need to win the europa league and he's definitely getting sacked it's a one game season
00:58:14for him now or two games two ties yeah but liverpool i think liverpool win comfortably roughly yeah they've
00:58:20been way ahead of everybody in consistency this year yeah a wee word for jamie vardy i'm not a big fan
00:58:25of him um but i'm a big fan of him as a goal scorer i'm a big fan of him because he's loyal to that
00:58:31club yeah you know he could have moved to a bigger club at the end of most seasons but he's hung on in
00:58:36there and he's done his bit yeah he is a great noise up if he scores a goal though he loves a noise up
00:58:40i i think where he's came from non-league and i think he signed him for fleetwood town or something
00:58:44for a million quid i think he's been tremendous probably the best ever player to be honest and
00:58:48uh he's trophy hall so i still think he's got something to offer and you never know
00:58:53might see him in scotland next year yeah okay there's a wee sniff um i don't think so uh crystal palace
00:59:00aston villa norringham forest man city semi-finals uh i'm going for uh villa and city to contest that
00:59:06yeah fa cup final yeah you're on that okay give us your point of view we'd love to hear from you
