00:00You see one who will face off in the final in Munich.
00:30We'll see you next time.
01:00We're down to the final four.
01:04Here's Valas-Kellia.
01:07The Emirates is rocked.
01:11And it's headed in for 1-1.
01:14Lengthy check now though.
01:16It's been ruled out.
01:18There's a huge night in Paris to come.
01:22Barcelona and Inter meet again.
01:25Inter are in front.
01:27Candenthal Dumtries makes it too.
01:31That meet you, Mark.
01:33Brilliant.
01:36It's 2-2.
01:38Berra Torres.
01:40Candenthal Dumtries has got another one.
01:44Oh, what a strike by Ravinha.
01:47Barcelona 3.
01:49Inter 3.
01:50Welcome to Champions League Match of the Day where we have two fascinatingly poised semi-finals to show you.
01:59The winners will head to Munich at the end of the month.
02:01One game from glory.
02:03Matt Upson and Julien Leroyne are in Paris for us.
02:05And in the studio are Champions League analysts Neda Manua and European football experts Guillaume Balaguet and Niki Bandini.
02:13Well, we begin at the Parc de France where PSG hold a 1-0 advantage over Arsenal who were looking to reach their first final for 19 years.
02:22Guy Mowbrie was there.
02:23A park of princes in a tournament of kings.
02:29Will these be the final steps in the Champions League or steps to the Champions League final for Arsenal?
02:38Well, the main PSG team news concerns one of their non-starters with top scorer and first-leg scorer Ousmane Dembélé only amongst the subs having gone off last Tuesday with a hamstring tweak.
02:52Bradley Barcola comes in joining João Neves as the only players who started Saturday's defeat at Strasbourg.
02:59For Arsenal, Thomas Partey is back following first-leg suspension, with many arguing that PSG wouldn't have scored their early goal had he played.
03:09Leandro Trossard drops out with Mikael Marino moving forward to the role that he's played mostly in since Kai Havertz was lost to injury in February.
03:22Away we go then.
03:24It's Allé Le Bleu and, of course, Allé Le Rouge.
03:28Time for Arsenal to step up again.
03:33Luis Enrique in charge for his 107th game.
03:37Only 14 defeats have so far come his way.
03:41Arsenal need there to be a 15th tonight.
03:44Saka lost the ball, but so did Pelletskaylia.
03:50And he's clipped in towards Reis!
03:53Can't have been far away.
03:54Jürion Timber with a cracking cross and Reis got above Marquinhos.
04:03Just didn't come off the right part of the head.
04:07It's a glance rather than a bullet.
04:12Martinelli.
04:13Great work from him.
04:17Hakimi's on him to bundle it out, but it will be a gunner's throw.
04:25Thomas Partey's going to take it.
04:30Looking for the flick.
04:31Got plenty of distance on it.
04:32Great save, Donnarumma.
04:33Arsenal nearly catching out PSG with the same trick
04:39that they were hit with by Bournemouth at the weekend.
04:42Brilliant throw-in by Partey.
04:45Martinelli came in onto it.
04:47Don't think anybody else got much of a touch,
04:49but Donnarumma got plenty.
04:51This is exactly what Mikel Arteta
04:53will have wanted to see from his players.
04:55They are on it.
04:57Saka to the deafening din of the home supporters.
05:00Martinelli.
05:08Martinelli's left Hakimi behind,
05:10and he wins Arsenal a corner.
05:13They keep on coming at PSG.
05:17Two chances, though, have come and gone.
05:20Next one's got to go in.
05:21It has to be third time lucky.
05:27Rice puts in another useful corner,
05:29but Donnarumma's height was the factor there.
05:32The goalkeeper who, despite his size,
05:35hasn't always been the most commanding
05:37at getting rid of free kicks at corners.
05:41Doesn't reach Saka.
05:42It does come out for Odegaard!
05:44And that is one heck of a save!
05:47Odegaard got all of that
05:49and must have thought that he scored.
05:53That's one of the best stops you're ever likely to see.
05:55The reaction time was practically nil.
06:01Here's Kranitz-Kalia.
06:02Jakub's not close enough there.
06:04This is Douay.
06:05Now Kranitz-Kalia.
06:07Going for the curl!
06:08Oh, Raya well beaten!
06:12Look at this from the Georgian genius.
06:15It's the smallest of gaps in between the two.
06:19Then he's got to get the curl.
06:21Keep it away from the glove.
06:23And find the corner.
06:28The pass was short.
06:29Didn't help Kivior out one bit.
06:32Now it's played in for Douay.
06:34Douay!
06:36It was more of a pass than a shot.
06:40Straight at Raya.
06:41A big let-off for Arsenal.
06:44Huge let-off in particular for William Saliba.
06:49Well, he had the option
06:50and it would have been the better bet
06:51to give the ball back to Barcola.
06:56David Raya.
06:57Declan Rice.
06:59Now that's Kailia on to him in a flash.
07:04He's forced a yellow card for Rice.
07:07Simply by being too quick for him.
07:11Rice's argument is
07:12I didn't tackle him, let alone foul him.
07:14He just got in front.
07:18Tinha.
07:18He'll need to pick out the right space.
07:20Marte heads away.
07:21Fabio Ruiz is there.
07:23Fabio Ruiz shoots!
07:24And scores!
07:25The Parc de France explodes
07:35into vibrant light and life.
07:39They have a two-goal lead in the tie.
07:41They have one foot on the road to Munich.
07:45And they've been sent on their way
07:47by the left foot of Fabio Ruiz.
07:50Big deflection off Saliba
07:58which gave Raya absolutely no chance.
08:02Not sure how much chance
08:03he would have had without it.
08:05Zero with it.
08:07What a time for him
08:08to score his first ever goal
08:10in the Champions League.
08:12One to tie.
08:13Here's now two to tie.
08:15Well, they did it in the Bernabeu.
08:17You can make it there,
08:18you can make it anywhere.
08:19And here's Kurt Scalier.
08:22He's got Barcola with him.
08:25Barcola sits himself
08:27and turns
08:28and Raya makes the save.
08:30And Lewis Skelly got back
08:31and atoned for his error
08:34at the other end of the field.
08:35He charged back.
08:38Could have been Bonnui, that.
08:41Declan Rice with the challenge at the end.
08:43What a brilliant tackle it was.
08:45Saka
08:53putting it into Marino
08:55and the ball escaped him.
08:59Mikai Saka couldn't have done
09:00a lot more than that.
09:02It's just a stretch too far
09:03for Mikel Marino.
09:04ESG need to have re-emerged
09:12for the second half
09:13with a hunger for more.
09:17Mendes charges.
09:18He plays it in to Douay.
09:22And Douay trying to pass it
09:24into the corner.
09:25Didn't get the angles right.
09:27Just put it straight there.
09:30Desiree Douay
09:30need to wrap the boot around
09:33and get the curl.
09:33Luis Enrique frustrated.
09:35He wants another.
09:36Saka.
09:41Saka.
09:42Trying to get some sort of angle
09:44for the shot
09:44and it's blocked
09:45and it goes behind
09:46for a corner.
09:50Off the toe
09:51of Nuno Mendes.
09:55Now the movement.
09:56Now in.
09:57and it has to be
09:58poured over the top
09:59by Donnarumma.
10:00Makes it look easier
10:02than most keepers
10:02with his size.
10:04Strong punch.
10:05Take two Saka.
10:08Marino ready.
10:10Just level with the penalty spot.
10:14Saka with another one.
10:15Swung in
10:15and Donnarumma missed that one.
10:17Who did get it?
10:18An Arsenal touch.
10:23Came off timber.
10:25You know what?
10:26If he hadn't got it
10:26and Marino might have
10:27headed home.
10:31Now Salib has got to
10:32stay in front of Barcola
10:33and he's
10:34oh
10:35miscontrolled
10:36and then stayed strong enough.
10:38Just.
10:44Rice.
10:50Declan Rice is on
10:51to the return.
10:51There are three in the box
10:52and it loops up
10:54to Bakayo Saka.
10:56Timber.
11:01Master pulling the squeeze on now.
11:03Saka.
11:05Another wonderful save.
11:08It's just a shake of the head
11:09and disbelief
11:10from Bakayo Saka
11:11who's close to scoring
11:13a wonder goal.
11:15Instead we've seen
11:16another wonder stop.
11:18There have been question marks
11:20over the last couple of years
11:22over the last couple of years
11:22about Gianluigi Donnarumma.
11:24Scrubbed them out.
11:25Erased them.
11:26He's one of the best in the world.
11:31In comes the corner.
11:33Partey at the back.
11:35Saka.
11:36And he's lost the ball
11:38and it wasn't a foul
11:40and Hakimi will
11:41bring this forward
11:42and there's
11:43Barcola in the middle.
11:46Due near a bye.
11:49And Hakimi's still there.
11:51And that was deflected
11:52and Raya had to get down
11:53and now it's on.
11:54The referee's coming over.
11:57A potential penalty check
11:59has been flagged up.
12:01And the hand is
12:02well out there
12:03isn't it
12:04from Myles Lewis Skelly.
12:06A PSG penalty.
12:09I don't think on review
12:10we can have too many arguments.
12:12Arsenal can't.
12:14This one kick
12:15is as good as taking PSG
12:18through to the final
12:19if it's a successful one.
12:21It's Vitinha
12:24on the spot
12:27for Paris Saint-Germain.
12:32He's stalking David Raya
12:34and it's saved by Raya
12:36to keep Arsenal hopes burning.
12:41That is potentially huge.
12:45No conviction in that
12:46from Vitinha.
12:50Valaskelia.
12:51carries the ball a bit wider
12:52getting himself a bit of room.
12:54De Bele's got plenty of that
12:55in the middle.
12:57Valaskelia couldn't pick him out.
12:58It's come to him now
12:59and here's Hakimi.
13:03And that will do it.
13:07And that's a heck of a way
13:09to do it.
13:14Hakimi puts the hammer down
13:16to all but end
13:18Arsenal's hopes.
13:19the let-off
13:24didn't last long.
13:28Of course
13:29Kvarskelia's involved.
13:31His pullback
13:32actually that time
13:33was off radar.
13:38As it bounced off Dembele
13:39it was controlled by Hakimi
13:43who had such poise
13:45who had such poise.
13:46Defenders in his way.
13:48And look at that
13:49for a finish.
13:52That is curled
13:53quite beautifully
13:54into the corner.
13:57Paris Saint-Germain 2
13:59Arsenal 0.
14:00the party started in Paris
14:03hours ago.
14:05No sleep
14:07till Munich.
14:08the only English team
14:13to have come from behind
14:15after the first leg
14:15of a semi-final
14:16at home
14:18and one away
14:19to go through
14:20where Arsenal's great rival
14:22Spurs
14:22six years ago
14:23Lucas Moura's great night
14:24in Amsterdam.
14:25Now Arsenal to try
14:26give themselves
14:27another chance
14:28Saka
14:28must be
14:29Saka scores
14:30well that wipes out
14:33Hakimi's effort
14:34that gives a glimmer
14:37they're back to where
14:38they were
14:39just a few minutes ago
14:40goal from nowhere
14:44PSG thought
14:46that was a foul
14:46Tross aren't allowed
14:49to get on with it
14:50Saka with a touch
14:51of fortune
14:52after the ball
14:52got stuck
14:53it's going to get
14:56looked at
14:56was that shoulder
14:58to shoulder
14:58or a push
14:59on Marquinhos
14:59I can tell you
15:02it was
15:04the foreman
15:04not the latter
15:05because the check's over
15:06the game goes on
15:07and it is 2-1
15:08on the night
15:09now here we go
15:13Tross aren't
15:15Calafiori up there
15:16with him
15:16back to Saliba
15:18as the first
15:19port of call
15:19Tross aren't
15:21Calafiori
15:23putting it in
15:25for Saka
15:25he just met it
15:29at the wrong time
15:30he just met it at the wrong time
15:30Donnarumma's dive
15:34was enough to
15:35make him briefly
15:37lose sight of the ball
15:39and as it bounced up
15:41he couldn't do anything
15:42to control it
15:43PSG clear
15:49PSG party
15:51they are on their way
15:54to the Champions League final
15:56for the eighth time
15:58there will be French
16:00representatives
16:01in the biggest game
16:03in European club football
16:05and this PSG team
16:08looks to be
16:10the best bet
16:11to follow Marseille
16:13in 1993
16:14by bringing the trophy
16:17home
16:18final score tonight
16:20Paris Saint-Germain 2
16:22Arsenal 1
16:23they've won the tie
16:25by three goals to one
16:26this might
16:28be their year
16:29I think between the boxes
16:32we did really well
16:33and then inside the boxes
16:34over the two games
16:36we weren't good enough
16:38and yeah
16:39credit to their goalkeeper
16:40as well
16:40who made some amazing saves
16:42but
16:42yeah
16:43it wasn't enough
16:44and that's painful
16:45when you look at the two games
16:47who's been
16:47their best player
16:49on the pitch
16:49he's been their goalkeeper
16:50he's made a difference
16:52for them in the tie
16:53and I think we were very close
16:56much closer
16:56than our results showed
16:57but
16:58unfortunately
16:59we are out
17:00I'm very proud of the players
17:01what we've done today
17:02the way we started
17:03how we handled the pressure
17:05the amount of pressure
17:05after 20 minutes
17:06it should be 3-0
17:07but
17:09yeah
17:10there is something extra
17:11that you need in the competition
17:12to go
17:13your way
17:14and
17:14and it didn't
17:15I think with the serve
17:17after hard work
17:18since
17:19we started the season
17:20so now it's moment
17:21to enjoy
17:22and keep working
17:24to bring this trophy
17:26to Paris back
17:27sometimes
17:28you have to lose a few
17:29in order to win
17:30and you have to
17:31overcome some of these setbacks
17:32to mentally grow
17:33and grow as a person
17:35and as a player
17:35and as a group
17:36and I think
17:36we're going through that stage
17:38at the minute
17:38after a few losses
17:39in terms of losing out
17:40in the league
17:41coming close
17:42in the Champions League
17:43back-to-back years
17:44so look
17:45we're growing
17:45as a team
17:46as people
17:47but we need to keep pushing
17:49and keep believing
17:50this is why we play this sport
17:51there's going to be setbacks
17:52along the way
17:53PSG have obviously
17:55gone through tonight
17:55we're absolutely guided
17:56but this isn't going to
17:57define us for sure
17:58we're going to be back
17:59so we've got to keep going
18:00huge disappointment for Arsenal
18:04but look at the scenes
18:06for PSG
18:06the fireworks
18:07the noise
18:08the ultras
18:09the whole stadium
18:10all night
18:11was incredible
18:11and they have made
18:13their second Champions League final
18:15this young crop of players
18:17led by Luis Enrique
18:18so let's hear now
18:20the reaction
18:20which Guy Mowbray
18:22who was inside
18:23the Parc de France
18:24tonight
18:24gave alongside
18:25Arsenal defender
18:26Matthew Upson
18:27and Julien Laurent
18:27immediately after the whistle
18:29thanks Gabby
18:32well we're just
18:32coming back to earth
18:33after another
18:34breathtaking night of football
18:36I've got Julien and Matt
18:37with me
18:37Julien can't stop grinning
18:39so we're going to start with him
18:40Julien over the two legs
18:42I know you're not going to argue
18:43but I don't think
18:44we can argue with the outcome
18:45this is a wonderful PSG team
18:47really
18:47with youth
18:48with a lot of energy
18:49with a lot of intensity
18:50the front three
18:51even without Dembele tonight
18:52which was a big blow
18:53of course for them
18:54but you see the fluidity
18:56you see the energy
18:57that they bring
18:58the skills
18:59and I think that would be
19:00terrifying for any defence
19:01and then in midfield
19:02they've been super dominant
19:02since the turn of the year
19:03so even if he was not perfect
19:05neither was tonight
19:06neither was the first leg
19:07I think in the end
19:09they've probably been
19:10the best team in Europe
19:10really in 2025
19:11and Matt
19:12where did Arsenal
19:13just fall short
19:14I'm thinking of the first
19:1620 minutes tonight
19:16in particular
19:17well they fell short
19:18with Donald Rummer
19:19having a great game
19:20and I think that
19:21the impact he had early on
19:23that first 15-20 minutes
19:24it was crucial
19:25Arsenal got something
19:26from that
19:27they started so well
19:28confident
19:29aggressive
19:30created chances
19:31but they were matched
19:32by the goalkeeper
19:33and then once the goal
19:34went in
19:35I think it just
19:36really did affect them
19:37a little bit
19:37like you'd expect
19:39but brilliant start
19:40from Arsenal
19:40what will Mikel
19:42be saying to his players
19:43this evening
19:43how will he be lifting them
19:45after Premier League
19:46Champions League
19:47so near but yet so far
19:48he'll be proud
19:49he'll be proud
19:50of what they've achieved
19:50this season
19:51to get to this place
19:52I think to come and perform
19:54like that
19:54the margins were so small
19:56you know
19:56it could have been
19:57very different
19:58and I think he has to
19:58step back
19:59and he will do
20:00and be really happy
20:01with his players
20:01Matt
20:02Julian
20:03Matt's just alluded to it
20:04we've seen another
20:05amazing performance
20:06on this pitch
20:07from a goalkeeper
20:07we had Alisson here
20:08in the last 16
20:09Genuigi Donnarumma
20:11is getting better
20:11and better isn't he
20:12yeah I think on his line
20:13I don't know if right now
20:14there's a better goalkeeper
20:16than him in world football
20:17yeah the distribution
20:18could be better
20:19coming out on crosses
20:20and set pieces
20:21could be better
20:21of course
20:22but on his line
20:23on the other guard shot
20:24I think the time reaction
20:25we said together
20:26is 0.1 second maybe
20:29it's just
20:29he sees it so late
20:30and yet goes down so quickly
20:31this is also how you go far
20:33it's with goalkeeper
20:34performances like this
20:35how has Luis Enrique
20:37turned this team around
20:39because after five games
20:40they'd won one
20:41they were in danger
20:41of crashing out
20:42in the league phase
20:42how has he done it?
20:44he said he was always
20:44going to take a bit of time
20:46to find the right places
20:48for the pieces of the jigsaw
20:49really
20:49and they worked along
20:50the right balance in midfield
20:52moving Dembele from wide
20:53to central was key
20:54obviously they believed in it
20:56and then I think
20:57he all clicked probably
20:58that second half
20:59against Manchester City
20:59where we were here
21:00and they were outstanding
21:01and then something changed
21:02really that day
21:03in terms of momentum
21:04the mindset
21:05and I think Luis Enrique
21:06deserves a lot of grace
21:07his birthday tomorrow
21:08on Thursday
21:09he's 55
21:0910 years ago
21:10he won the treble
21:11with Barcelona
21:12of course
21:12and the Champions League
21:13but really he's the guy
21:15who builds
21:15not just the squad
21:17and the team
21:17but also the mentality
21:18and the team's experience
21:19what can Arsenal learn
21:20from this Matt?
21:21I think all these experiences
21:22are great for this group
21:24you know you're playing
21:24a team that has been
21:25consistently at this stage
21:27of the competition
21:27for the last four or five
21:29six seasons
21:30Arsenal is still relatively
21:32fresh and new
21:32for this group of players
21:33and for the manager
21:34so I think they'll take
21:35so much from this
21:37and they'll know
21:38that they're not far off
21:39you know they've got
21:39a really good foundation
21:41in that team
21:41and we look forward now
21:43to the final duels
21:44which could be
21:44an absolute classic
21:46is this PSG's year
21:48you just mentioned
21:48the Manchester City game
21:49I think there's been
21:50a feeling growing since then
21:51that this is it
21:52this is the year to crack it
21:53yeah I think you're right
21:54five years ago
21:55they lost the final
21:55in Covid
21:56against Bayern Munich
21:57where they had a chance
21:59to winning it
21:59with Neymar
22:00with Mbappe
22:01with Variety
22:02a team that is very different
22:03to the one that we see today
22:04the youngest team
22:05in the competition
22:05it's a completely
22:07different mindset
22:08but they've never
22:09been closer really
22:10and it's not going
22:11to be easy of course
22:12it's going to be
22:13a tough game
22:13but I think they learned
22:14a lot from losing
22:15the semi-final
22:16to Dortmund last season
22:17and they would have
22:17learned a lot from
22:18tonight the first leg
22:19the Villa second leg
22:21for example
22:21the Liverpool second leg too
22:22and I think they will
22:23go there very confident
22:24thank you Jules
22:25thank you Matt
22:26Jules is now going
22:26to take us to places
22:27in Paris
22:28we never knew existed
22:29good luck Guy
22:32well the stats
22:33might back up
22:34Mikel Arteta's idea
22:36that perhaps they were
22:36the better side
22:37on the night Arsenal
22:37they just edged it there
22:39but they didn't do enough
22:41did they?
22:41yeah that's it essentially
22:42you know the stats
22:42they do matter
22:43but at the end of the day
22:44did you get the ball
22:45into the back
22:45of the opposition's net
22:46and for Arsenal
22:47unfortunately for them
22:48they did not
22:48they had the possession
22:49they let them have the ball
22:50didn't they PSG
22:51in the first half an hour
22:52or so
22:52but Arsenal couldn't score
22:53PSG's work rate though
22:54to make sure they didn't
22:56and to get the ball back
22:57was phenomenal
22:57absolutely
22:57and what was interesting today
22:59was we're used to seeing
22:59PSG have a lot of possession
23:01within a game
23:01but for the way that started
23:03Arsenal were the ones
23:03that were in control
23:04so you were seeing PSG
23:05more on the back foot
23:06but what I found
23:07really impressive
23:08was the fact that
23:09they weren't sort of
23:10fed up with it
23:11they stuck with the plan
23:11and whenever they could
23:12they would apply the pressure
23:14and win the ball
23:14and best of all
23:15when they did win the ball
23:16they would travel at speed
23:17it wasn't just one player
23:18it wasn't two players
23:18it was as many as they could
23:19and again this is for
23:21long stretches
23:22in that first half
23:22yes they are struggling
23:23but as soon as they get
23:24the chance to go
23:25and go forward
23:25they would do it
23:27and again it's at speed
23:28and when you're playing
23:28in defence
23:29against something like that
23:30speed is
23:31it makes you so nervous
23:32but they stuck with it
23:33and I think for Arsenal
23:34overall the play was good
23:36but every time they seemed
23:37to make a mistake
23:38they were on the back foot
23:39and you're sort of nervous
23:40for them
23:40will PSG score
23:41will they score
23:42for the vast majority of the time
23:44they didn't
23:44but the threat was always there
23:46and you always had to make sure
23:47the passing was good
23:48even Louis Skelly here
23:49you know he's been so good
23:50in terms of protecting the ball
23:51but against the best of the best
23:53they can take that ball
23:54away from you
23:55and I think maybe
23:56on a different day
23:56PSG probably convert
23:57a few more of these counters
23:59and maybe the conversation
24:00isn't about Donnarumma
24:01but I think for Luis Enrique
24:02those players
24:03that went out there
24:04and they did the plan
24:05that he wanted
24:05maybe they should have
24:06had more possession
24:07but in the end
24:08they were still very dangerous
24:09it's a team built
24:10by this man
24:11Luis Enrique
24:11in the way he likes
24:13to play football
24:13we've seen that
24:14through the decades
24:15haven't we
24:15of how he wants
24:16his team to be
24:17that energy
24:18is incredible
24:19it's his energy
24:20isn't it
24:20this is the man
24:21that every 30 minutes
24:22stops to do
24:23press-ups
24:24and he converts
24:25his office into a gym
24:27and he's full of energy
24:28yeah he's absolutely
24:29the leader
24:30and I think the two
24:31turning points
24:31the two conversations
24:32that takes us
24:33to the final
24:34in Munich
24:35is when he first arrived
24:36and they approach him
24:37and he says
24:38but who's going to be
24:39in the squad
24:40meaning is Berratti
24:41going to be in the squad
24:42is Neymar going to be
24:43in the squad
24:43Mbappé
24:44and he was told
24:44Mbappé will leave
24:45in a year
24:46but everybody else
24:47they can be pushed aside
24:48including Messi
24:50okay yeah we can do that
24:51that's the first conversation
24:52the second one
24:53in the summer
24:53he realising that
24:55Mbappé was going
24:56went to Dembélé
24:57and said
24:58you're going to score
24:59a lot of goals
25:00be selfish
25:00don't pass the ball
25:02I'm going to use you
25:03as nine
25:03as a winger
25:04and he becomes
25:05one of the best players
25:05in the world
25:06that takes PSG
25:07to another level
25:08but of course
25:09the key here
25:09and you mentioned it
25:10is just the word grade
25:11from everyone
25:12and Kravitz Skelja
25:13Nicky
25:14is one of those players
25:15who personifies that
25:16doesn't he
25:16what a sign
25:17to come in in January
25:18fit in the way he has
25:19add to this team
25:20for 60 million
25:21it looks like a bargain
25:22honestly I can't think
25:23of a player
25:23who's come into a team
25:25mid-season like this
25:26and just looked more
25:27immediately like
25:27he completely belongs
25:28and we're talking
25:29about the stories here
25:30there's this story
25:31about when he left
25:32Naples
25:32that one of the last
25:33things he did
25:33was last night there
25:34was go down to the
25:35famous mural of Maradona
25:36and made a little gesture
25:37there which of course
25:38he was Claradona in Naples
25:39that's who he was
25:40but actually he's not
25:41he's not a Maradona
25:43type of player
25:43yes he's got the creativity
25:44he's an exceptional dribbler
25:45but what makes him fit
25:46so well in this
25:47Luis Enrique side
25:48is he's also the guy
25:49you could almost imagine
25:50doing press-ups
25:51every half an hour
25:52he is an incredibly hard worker
25:53and he really puts in
25:54that defensive shift
25:55and does all that as well
25:57I think when you watch him
25:58he's so light on his feet
26:00you almost think of him
26:01as this little flighty player
26:02and he's not
26:03he's really tough
26:04and I think that combination
26:06and yes he is brilliant
26:07on the ball
26:07I think his dribble percentage
26:09is shot straight back up
26:10under Enrique
26:10after going down a bit
26:11under Antonio Conte
26:12at Napoli
26:13but he brings it
26:14all to the table
26:15Donnarumma's been mentioned
26:16a few times already
26:17tonight
26:17but you can wax lyrical
26:19about his performance
26:19over both legs
26:20yeah absolutely
26:21I think he has been
26:22the key man
26:22for PSG across this
26:24and there are so many
26:25big moments
26:25where he has stepped up
26:27and interestingly
26:27it's the name Donnarumma
26:28that we've heard about
26:29for a very long time
26:30but I think when it comes
26:32down to conversations
26:32about who's one of the
26:33best in the world
26:34I don't think his name
26:34really gets attached
26:35to it anymore
26:36but you look at
26:37some of these saves here
26:38they're massive saves
26:39and in really big moments
26:40on the biggest stage
26:42from club level
26:43this is Champions League
26:44knockout football
26:45this is semi-final
26:46that's a great save
26:47there itself
26:47best of all
26:48this save here
26:49to be able to get down
26:50the way that he does
26:51the speed of the strike
26:52and the strength
26:53to have your wrist
26:53to push that wide
26:54these are massive saves
26:56and I don't know
26:58how would you say
26:58it's perceived Nicky
26:59in terms of his position
27:00within world football
27:02I think he's genuinely
27:03fascinating
27:04you think he's a kid
27:05who was playing for Milan
27:05at 16 years old
27:06and by 18
27:07he'd become this villain
27:08they were waving
27:09these dollar bills
27:10at him
27:10calling him
27:10Dola Roma
27:11because he was
27:12a Mino Raiola client
27:12and they were talking
27:13about moving away
27:13which of course
27:14eventually does happen
27:15but it feels like
27:16in the public narrative
27:17in Italy
27:18the narrative about him
27:19despite the fact
27:20that he literally
27:21won a Euros
27:22so not a World Cup
27:23I wish
27:23won a Euros
27:24for Italy
27:25was the player
27:26of the tournament
27:27at Euro 2020
27:28it feels like
27:29we still talk about
27:30his mistakes
27:31so much more
27:32than his saves
27:32it's always about
27:33the blunders
27:34he does have a tendency
27:35to be slightly theatrical
27:36at times as well
27:37oh yes
27:37even after the game
27:40I thought it was a bit
27:40of a flourish
27:41with his post-game comments
27:42because he's got
27:43this little scar
27:44on his face
27:44at the moment
27:45from a boot
27:46he took to the face
27:46against Monaco
27:47and someone asked him
27:49why he's doing so well
27:49at the moment
27:49and he said
27:50oh it's my new scar
27:50it's made him more tough
27:51it's Harry Potter scar
27:54again what happens next
27:56for Arsenal
27:56because you know
27:57they've had a lot
27:58of semi-finals
27:59where they've failed
27:59to get over the line
28:00this is 8th in a row now
28:02that they haven't won
28:04they've either drawn
28:05or lost
28:06and they've hardly scored
28:07any goals in those
28:08either
28:08you know
28:09this was the first one
28:10actually
28:10yeah
28:10they haven't been
28:12good enough
28:13but if we take out
28:14of the conversation
28:15failure
28:15and no trophy season
28:18but you see
28:19this progression
28:19you have to say
28:20that for 6 years
28:21they were in the
28:22Champions League
28:22they've now been twice
28:24in the Champions League
28:25and they managed
28:25in the second season
28:26to get to the semi-finals
28:27and make life difficult
28:29to PSG
28:29and Edoum and I
28:30have got an argument
28:31here
28:32because I think
28:32Arsenal
28:33Arsenal were better
28:35than PSG
28:36and of course
28:37Donnarumma counts
28:38yes
28:38but they created
28:39the chances
28:40they had the momentum
28:41they didn't convert
28:42of course
28:42but that's the problem
28:44and I think
28:44you'll hear from interviews
28:46from Marteta
28:47from now on
28:47the boxes
28:48we weren't strong
28:49in the boxes
28:50we made mistakes
28:51in its players
28:52we don't score
28:53enough
28:53needs players
28:54so 4-5 new starters
28:56depending on how many
28:57they can sell
28:58you'll have a team
28:59being one of the best
29:00in the Europa
29:00so what's the argument
29:00the argument's more about
29:03is it about being
29:04the better team
29:05is it about being
29:05the team that wins
29:06and I think from my
29:07perspective
29:07as you look at the team
29:08that's dominated over
29:09the last 10 years
29:09in Real Madrid
29:10it's not every season
29:11you can say going into it
29:12that they are the best team
29:13but very often
29:14they end up being the team
29:14that lifts the trophy
29:15so obviously there's more to it
29:16but you have to take
29:18from this performance
29:19the fact that actually
29:20Arsenal can compete
29:21with the best
29:22they just need something else
29:23and that's what I think
29:24he will read into
29:25into it that way
29:26I'm not sure everybody
29:27will though
29:28we argue later
29:31we can carry on arguing
29:33in a moment
29:33Inter and Barcelona
29:34were level at 3-1
29:35after an instant classic
29:37in their first leg
29:38the two sides
29:39were at the San Siro
29:39to do it all again
29:40last night
29:41and it did not disappoint
29:43commentary comes from
29:44Steve Wilson
29:44they're walking out
29:48into one of football's
29:49finest arenas
29:50and after one of the
29:51finest first legs
29:53you could wish to see
29:54who is heading to Munich
29:56how will Inter and Barca
29:58be separated
29:59the San Siro
30:01is practically trembling
30:03with anticipation
30:05Inter star man
30:07Latore Martinez
30:08tweaked a thigh in Spain
30:09but he starts
30:10at an unchanged 11
30:11how big a risk
30:13that is only time
30:14will tell
30:15Benjamin Pavard's
30:17ankle injury
30:17keeps him out again
30:19Barcelona make one change
30:21Jules Koundé is missing
30:22with the muscle injury
30:23he suffered in the first game
30:25in comes Eric Garcia
30:27at right back
30:28Robert Lewandowski
30:29has recovered from
30:30a muscle injury
30:31enough to be on the bench
30:32if Lamy Nymal
30:34is as good
30:35as he was a week ago
30:36it might be
30:37good night Inter
30:38Chalinole with a little
30:48lifted pass
30:49helped on its way
30:50to Nicolo Barella
30:51inside Inigo
30:52Martinez
30:52and Wojciech Czesny
30:55is there
30:55lovely from Barella
30:58that's really well struck
31:03as well
31:03Danny Olmo
31:12Di Marco
31:13great little ball
31:14Dumfries here
31:15square
31:16Latore
31:16Martinez
31:17Inter Milan
31:21take the lead
31:22well they wondered
31:27whether he would be
31:28fit enough to start
31:30fit enough to feature
31:32at all
31:32not only does he feature
31:35he's on the score sheet
31:36brilliantly done
31:39by Di Marco
31:39with a lovely
31:40through ball
31:41Dumfries is so
31:43unselfish
31:43Latore
31:45Martinez
31:46scores for
31:47Inter
31:47his ninth goal
31:50of this
31:51Champions League
31:52campaign
31:52but much more
31:54importantly than that
31:55Inter's fourth
31:56of this semi-final
31:57Barcelona
32:01have never been
32:02in front
32:02in this tie

32:18has a stab
32:18Barcelona
32:20and Pedri

32:21about a handball
32:22here
32:22they are
32:24having a look
32:25at that
32:25well looking
32:27at that
32:28all you can say
32:28really is
32:29he'd be
32:29incredibly unlucky
32:30and he's not
32:31oh brilliant
32:38feet

32:55Lamine
32:55Yamal
32:56and Inter
32:58very happy
32:58to see
32:59that go
32:59wide
32:59Thuram
33:08with the
33:09flick
33:09on
33:10and
33:10wide
33:11Chalinole
33:12with the
33:13chance
33:13well it
33:15came to him
33:16quickly
33:16and he's
33:17not got a
33:18good contact
33:18on that
33:19if he'd
33:19hit that
33:20cleanly
33:20it could
33:21easily
33:21have been
33:21to
33:21the
33:24challenge
33:24that's a good
33:28ball as well
33:28and here's
33:29Lautaro
33:29Martinez
33:30Kubasi
33:31with the
33:32challenge
33:33Lautaro
33:33Martinez
33:34is down
33:34and rolling
33:36well Kubasi
33:37committed to
33:38it
33:38and there
33:39will be
33:39a VAR
33:40check
33:41my first
33:42thought is
33:42he gets
33:42the ball
33:43actually
33:44as he
33:45caught the
33:46foot
33:47of Lautaro
33:48Martinez
33:48and then
33:49that's
33:49gone into
33:49the ball
33:50that angle
33:51may just
33:52tell a
33:52different
33:52story
33:53it is a
33:55penalty
33:55to
33:55Inter
33:55Milan
33:56oh Hansi
33:59Fleck

34:01Kubasi
34:02is found
34:03guilty
34:03and Inter
34:05have an
34:06unbelievable
34:06opportunity
34:07here

34:37Pedri
34:46Pedri

35:22it's a
35:23great finish
35:24he's got a
35:26lot of
35:26room
35:26but it's
35:26such a
35:27controlled
35:27volley
35:28it's an
35:29absolutely
35:30outstanding

35:43he's got
35:43the pass
35:43right here
35:44Gerard
35:45Martín
35:46square
35:47what a

35:49Sommer
35:49to deny
35:50Eric
35:51Garcia
35:52another
35:52goal
35:53well this
35:55is one
35:55of the
35:55best saves
35:56one of
35:57the most
35:57important
35:58saves
35:58you will
35:58ever
35:59see
35:59it's
36:00also
36:00a
36:00pretty
36:01bad
36:01miss
36:01when
36:01you

36:02it
36:02from
36:02that

36:03because
36:04he's
36:04made
36:04it
36:04easier
36:05for
36:05Jan
36:05Sommer
36:05than
36:06he
36:06should
36:06have
36:06done
36:06but
36:07even
36:07so
36:08Mkhitaryan
36:10for
36:11De Jong
36:11Gerard
36:17it's
36:18a
36:18brilliant
36:19ball
36:19it's
36:19in
36:20Daniel
36:21with
36:22a
36:22fabulous
36:23header
36:23but
36:26the ball
36:26into the
36:27box
36:27from
36:27Gerard
36:27Martin
36:28is
36:29absolutely
36:30stunning
36:31and Barcelona have turned it around two goals in six minutes and for the second
36:39time in this semi-final they've clawed back a two-goal deficit it's one heck of
36:45a header but it's a fabulous ball in and on aggregate 5-5
36:54La Mignamal, Dani Olmo, well cut out
37:04from Mkhitaryan and he's caught La Mignamal and it's a penalty to Barcelona
37:12well Mkhitaryan is saying it's outside the penalty area
37:19there's no question it's a foul even Mkhitaryan isn't disputing that
37:23and he might have a case the interman the contact starts outside the penalty area but it might just
37:34continue onto the line
37:35it's outside that much outside says Simon Marciniak
37:46oh my goodness me that could not be closer but it's no penalty
37:51it's Rafinha with 12 Champions League goals to his name this season
37:58on the ball for Barcelona
38:01Dani Olmo, La Mignamal deflected
38:04actually hit De Jong
38:09whether it was goal bound
38:11otherwise
38:12Gerard Martin
38:20Dani Olmo from the Ferran Torres pass
38:26La Mignamal
38:27oh pushed away by Jan Sommer
38:34well just a little puff of the cheeks which followed an explosive left-footed curler from La Mignamal
38:42it's a top-class save
38:44Carlos Augusto in front of La Mignamal
38:51dances away from Nicolo Barrella
38:55Augusto with the block now
38:56and now Nicolo Barrella for Inter
38:58deflecting to Fratezi
39:02but Barcelona win it back
39:03and here is Rafinha
39:05and Jan Sommer
39:06and Rafinha
39:07Rafinha for Barcelona
39:10three minutes from the end of the second leg
39:18of this epic classic of our times
39:22Barcelona are in front for the first time in the tie
39:26clearly onside
39:31it's a good save by Sommer
39:33but Rafinha reacted more quickly than anybody in blue and black
39:40and hammers Barcelona in front
39:43and that could very well send Barcelona to Munich for the final
39:50this extraordinary semi-final
39:54heartbreaking for Inter Milan
39:57who've been two goals in front twice in the tie
40:01here's Pedri
40:07La Mignamal
40:10and he's hit the post
40:14well maybe
40:17just maybe
40:19Inter can create one more opportunity
40:22if that had gone in
40:24then the game is done
40:27Jan Sommer forward
40:34this is Turam
40:38Dumfries to his right-hand side
40:40Gerard Martin is there
40:41Gerard Martin falls over
40:43Dumfries into the block
40:44they've done it
40:4537-year-old Francesco Acherbi
40:52for Inter Milan
40:54it is incredible
40:58the bar is set very very high
41:04but this may be the greatest Champions League semi-final there's ever been
41:10Inter Milan have saved themselves
41:15mistake from Gerard Martin
41:19Barcelona said foul on Gerard Martin
41:22and a Acherbi of all people
41:25it's a fantastic finish
41:29from a 37-year-old central defender
41:33it's been checked
41:35it's been cleared
41:36it's 3-3
41:39and 6 each on aggregate
41:42Cubasi
41:45Rafinha
41:46oh what a ball
41:50La Mignamal for Barcelona
41:52and Jan Sommer saves
41:54Jan Sommer saves for Inter
41:58this was the final right there
42:01and he's put it straight into Jan Sommer's midriff
42:04and this semi-final will go to extra time
42:103-3 in Barcelona
42:133-3 in Milan
42:156 each on aggregate
42:18Turam
42:24oh he's done well Turam
42:31he's done really well
42:32Turam his little layoff
42:34Frattese
42:35oh he's done it
42:37David Frattese for Inter
42:43well I don't think they've quite cleared the hurdle of Barcelona yet
42:51he's nearly cleared the fence to get in the crowd
42:55David Frattese puts Inter in front yet again
42:59great play by Turam
43:07held it up brilliantly
43:09that little change of direction
43:15brought him a bit of space
43:17it's a lovely little layoff from Turemi
43:20and a very good Frattese finish
43:247-6
43:27on aggregate
43:28Femi Lopez into Rafinha
43:34first block was by Piotr Zielinski
43:39here's Lamine Yamal
43:40Turemi in front of him
43:42Carlos Augusto 2
43:44Lamine Yamal
43:46still got the cross in
43:47and Lewandowski
43:48couldn't get over it
43:51probably a foul by
43:54Paul Victor on Jan Sommer
43:56I don't think it would have counted
43:57Lewandowski
44:00didn't ask the question
44:02by putting the ball in the net
44:03Turemi is chasing this
44:09with Hector Ford
44:10held it up pretty well
44:13Turemi
44:13Zielinski
44:14nicely done
44:16Turam
44:17couldn't find Turemi
44:19Frattese
44:20brilliant save
44:21great save
44:24Wojciech
44:26Czesny here with the save
44:28don't think that would have counted
44:30Turam looked offside
44:31you'd have to be a very very bold predictor to say that Frattese's goal is going to win this game
44:42here's Lamine Yamal
44:44Lamine Yamal
44:46oh just wide
44:48goodness me how close was this
44:53it's a fabulous save
44:574 in the middle
45:01make that 5 to Young
45:04and Lamine Yamal pushed out by Sommer again
45:10and the follow-up
45:12from Lewandowski is onto the roof of the net
45:16what can you say about Jan Sommer
45:20been absolutely outstanding for Inter Milan
45:23it's a goal kick to Barcelona
45:30into Milan
45:36are Munich bound for their 7th European Cup final
45:40they've won one of the greatest victories you can imagine
45:46on the night
45:49into 4
45:51Barcelona 3
45:53on aggregate
45:55into 7
45:57Barcelona 6
45:59we had some really difficult situation in this game but
46:03we keep on believing
46:06till the end
46:07and
46:08in the end yeah
46:09we did a great great job
46:10I'm very disappointed that we are out
46:12so I'm disappointed
46:13but not disappointed about
46:14the performance of my team
46:16they try everything
46:17and
46:18you know this is
46:20this is
46:20this is the thing
46:21and
46:22and of course
46:23we are out now
46:24and
46:25but next year
46:26we will start again
46:27we will start again
46:28and we
46:28we will make our fans
46:30our supporters
46:31and
46:32and the club
46:32and everyone around us
46:34happy
46:34I think we've run out of superlatives
46:37describing
46:37these
46:38two legs
46:39the greatest
46:40semi-final of all time
46:42for you
46:42you were there
46:42you were inside the stadium
46:43as was I
46:44very lucky to be there
46:45and experience
46:46a remarkable sporting encounter
46:48you weren't there Mickey
46:49no someone here wasn't
46:50just to remind you
46:51but I don't think I've ever got
46:53as many messages
46:54and calls
46:56and people stopping me
46:57in the streets
46:57what a game
46:58even with that
46:59and I knew which game
47:00they were referring to
47:01perhaps the last time
47:02similar to it
47:03was like the
47:0320-level semifinals
47:05Real Madrid-Barcelona
47:05the Pep Guardiola
47:06Jose Mourinho
47:07but the spectacle
47:09wasn't what we saw
47:09and perhaps in a time of
47:11I don't know
47:13organised football
47:13if you like
47:14we saw it today
47:15this was
47:16something else
47:17it was chaotic
47:18twists
47:20I've never shouted
47:21oh my god
47:22so many times
47:22in a game
47:23I don't know you
47:24it must have been
47:25the same to you
47:25it was incredible
47:26Nicky you must have
47:27enjoyed it from afar
47:28oh it was
47:28it was extraordinary
47:29I think the whole tie
47:30is just one of those
47:32things that makes you
47:32remember completely
47:33why you fell in love
47:34with things to begin with
47:35we were just saying
47:35during that interval
47:36there there's so many
47:37things happened in this game
47:38that even Lautaro Martinez
47:39being injured
47:41and coming back
47:41after six days
47:42of a hamstring strain
47:43scoring
47:44and winning a penalty
47:45it's a footnote
47:46it's a tiny detail
47:47I'm glad you mentioned him
47:47because we probably
47:48will have time
47:48when we properly drill
47:49into the analysis
47:50in a moment
47:51but it was indeed
47:52an instant classic
47:53so Naidem's been
47:54taking a look
47:55at one of the key
47:55performances over both legs
47:57and he's over at the screen
47:58so an absolutely incredible game
48:01and best of all
48:03I get the chance to talk about
48:04a defender
48:04who would have thought
48:05that would be the case
48:06in such a high scoring game
48:07but I think it's very valid
48:08to talk about Denzel Dunfries
48:09across this tie
48:10because his impact
48:11was enormous
48:12starting off here
48:13you go up to attack a ball
48:15in the box
48:15yeah he might get the header
48:16but how about that finish
48:18it's the finish
48:18that most defenders
48:19dream of being able to have
48:21and to be honest
48:22a lot of attackers as well
48:23that's a huge moment
48:24but as he set the tone
48:26in this game
48:26he was always involved
48:28from an attacking standpoint
48:29here what a great ball
48:30that is into the box
48:31unfortunately for them
48:32this ended up being offside
48:33but it was indicative
48:34of the quality that he has
48:35and what I love best of all
48:37he's always keen
48:37to be on the front foot
48:38taking on as many players
48:39as he can
48:40but finding that end product
48:41so he always has a purpose
48:43his impact was massive
48:44and after that goal initially
48:46how about this one
48:47the desire
48:48to get yourself
48:49in the box like that
48:50that header
48:51is massive
48:52and a massive moment
48:53for Inter Milan
48:54and he rightly celebrated it
48:56because you know
48:57defenders we don't score
48:57a ton of goals
48:58but for him
48:59it's just a regular day
49:00well how about the second leg
49:01can he have an impact again
49:02we see him here
49:03higher up the field
49:04as we saw in that first leg
49:05and he's got the strength
49:06he's got the pace
49:08he's got the desire
49:09to get up
49:09and now
49:09maybe from Interman perspective
49:11you're hoping to have more players
49:12in the box
49:12but can Dumfries keep the ball
49:14yes he can
49:15with the strength
49:15my goodness me
49:17and the composure is there
49:18he's looking for the moment
49:19and that kind of set the tone
49:20in this second leg
49:21and as we see here
49:22it's a great press from Inter
49:23and who's getting
49:24getting in behind
49:24it's Dumfries
49:25and in this moment
49:26that pass
49:27it's the right decision
49:28but it's the type of decision
49:30that most people
49:30don't get accurately
49:31and this one here
49:32defensively
49:33he was brilliant
49:34always making sure
49:35that he was helping
49:35his back line
49:36but what I love
49:36more than anything
49:37was his attacking threat
49:39here he's tied
49:40but he's stretching the game
49:41his team need a goal
49:42he's still got the energy
49:43to go forward
49:44they're playing in behind
49:45his team is losing
49:46by one minutes left
49:46to go in the game
49:47it's a nice tackle there
49:49and the ball into the box
49:50is top quality
49:51an amazing finish
49:53and to be honest
49:54I think I'd be as tired
49:55as he is
49:56given how big an impact
49:57he had in that game
49:58of football
49:58and as we said
49:59we're talking about
50:00a defender
50:01who had five goal
50:02contributions out of the
50:03seven goals
50:04that Inter Milan scored
50:05so it's just a regular day
50:06for Inter Milan I guess
50:07Indeed Nadim
50:10well the headlines
50:11across Europe
50:11naturally reflected
50:12such a stunning tie
50:14in Italy
50:14La Gazzetta della Sport
50:15paid tribute
50:16with the mythical Inter
50:18Interstellar
50:19was the celestial theme
50:20in tutto sport
50:21while over in Spain
50:23Goodbye Epic
50:24was on the front page
50:25of Mundo Deportivo
50:26and AS
50:27mourned Barca's failure
50:29to hold on
50:30to their lead
50:30in injury time
50:31with the simple headline
50:32two minutes
50:33too many
50:34so
50:36this is an old team
50:37Inter
50:38we'll discuss that
50:39a little bit later on
50:39the oldest in the competition
50:40and the oldest man
50:41on the pitch
50:42was the one
50:42who forced it
50:43into extra time
50:43but what a life
50:44Acherbi has had
50:46yeah
50:46an absolutely
50:47astonishing moment
50:48in the 90th minute
50:4992nd minute
50:50I think it was
50:50of injury time
50:52this is a 37 year old
50:54centre back
50:55who nobody seems
50:57to have a good explanation
50:57of what he's even doing
50:58at this part of the pitch
50:59and who scores
50:59on his weaker foot
51:01by the way
51:01at the near post
51:02putting it straight
51:03into the top corner
51:04but when you listen
51:05to Acherbi tell
51:06his own story
51:07he says that
51:08he thinks he wouldn't
51:09have even played
51:09past 28 years old
51:10if it wasn't for the fact
51:11that he got cancer
51:12in his mid-twenties
51:14it was at a point
51:14in his life
51:15when he was
51:16very very low
51:17he lost his father
51:17and he talked about
51:19it very candidly
51:20he was depressed
51:20he was struggling
51:21he was lacking motivation
51:23and he tells it
51:24in this extraordinary way
51:26because he says
51:27in life
51:27you need
51:28una sfida
51:29you need a challenge
51:29you need something
51:30to test yourself against
51:31and in his version
51:32of events
51:33it was only cancer
51:34coming along
51:34at the time
51:35that it did
51:35that stopped him
51:36from going completely
51:37off the rails
51:37it was something
51:38that he could fight
51:38against
51:38it was something
51:39that he thought
51:39would give him
51:41that motivation
51:41and now
51:42look he'd never won
51:43any piece of silver
51:44at 30 years old
51:45he's won seven pieces
51:47since he turned 30 years old
51:48he's had I think
51:4934 Italy kept
51:50since he turned 30 years old
51:51and he might just win
51:52a Champions League
51:53at 37 years old
51:53life began at 30
51:54and Fratesi
51:55someone who
51:56hasn't really
51:57set the world on fire
51:59for Inter
51:59hasn't really
52:00kind of won over
52:00all the fans
52:01has he
52:02but I tell you what
52:02if this goal
52:04is the goal
52:04that propels him
52:05to a final
52:05they then win
52:06he will be immortal
52:07yeah
52:08it's funny with Fratesi
52:09and Acerbi
52:10I almost feel like
52:11they're two sides
52:12of the same coin
52:12in a strange way
52:13Fratesi was signed
52:15for 30 million euros
52:15from Sassuolo
52:16he was someone
52:17who there was
52:17hope for
52:18in a season and a half
52:20he really hasn't
52:21played very much
52:21he's always been
52:22this impact player
52:23off the bench
52:24but one of again
52:25Acerbi's things
52:26he likes to say
52:26is when you are
52:28that guy
52:28when you're not
52:28playing every time
52:29the only thing
52:30you can do
52:30is just keep
52:31giving it your all
52:32and Fratesi's comment
52:34at the end of this game
52:34which I think is
52:35just instantly iconic
52:36and between this goal
52:37and the one he scored
52:38against Bayern Munich
52:38has probably locked him
52:39in now
52:40with all these Inter fans
52:40who didn't necessarily
52:42weren't sure about him
52:43before
52:43but he said
52:43I might not be
52:44the most talented
52:45technically
52:46but I am the last
52:47to give up
52:47and I'm the first
52:48to believe
52:48and I think that is
52:49kind of the story
52:50of both of them
52:50you heard about
52:51the cost of players
52:52the 11 of Inter
52:54is about
52:55130 million euros
52:56that's about it
52:57we keep obsessing
52:58about how many
52:59millions Arsenal
53:01are going to spend
53:02to get to the final
53:03again
53:03but they've done it
53:04so cleverly
53:05just picking players
53:06that are finishing
53:06contracts
53:07others that
53:08Saussuolo for instance
53:09and they put together
53:10a team that is
53:11in the Champions League
53:11come on
53:12let's talk about Barcelona
53:13and the reaction
53:13and the fallout
53:15I mean I imagine
53:16when you were working
53:17last night
53:17there was devastation
53:18around you
53:19everybody was very
53:19depressed about it
53:20the reaction back home
53:21though
53:21well let's ignore
53:23the fact that
53:24since last night
53:25all what everybody's
53:26talking about
53:26is the referees
53:27because they
53:28read completely
53:29different to everybody
53:30else what happened
53:31there
53:31they think referees
53:32had an impact
53:33including the president
53:34who did a video
53:34to talk about that
53:35but what we're talking
53:36here is a team
53:37that we've seen
53:38it all season
53:39very passionate
53:40about what they do
53:41who do everything
53:42that the manager
53:43asked them to do
53:44and who cannot
53:45read games well
53:46and that's part
53:47of building a team
53:48that's what's happening
53:49and then if you look
53:50at the game
53:50specifically
53:51you see that
53:52you commit errors
53:54but sometimes
53:55it doesn't affect you
53:56it did
53:57Araujo was at fault
53:58in the third goal
53:59for instance
53:59those referee decisions
54:01sometimes go in your favor
54:02it just didn't
54:03and you sometimes
54:05have got the look
54:05that they didn't have
54:06if he had gone
54:08Barcelona way
54:09La Minha Mal
54:10centimeters
54:11the ball goes in
54:12instead of hit
54:12the Boston coming out
54:13nobody will complain
54:14because they have
54:15that marvellous joy
54:17of playing football
54:18we all love what they do
54:19but they just don't
54:21read games well
54:22and to actually get
54:23into the Champions League
54:24final you have to
54:25have the complete package
54:26you mentioned Yamal
54:27we're going to talk
54:27about it a little bit more
54:28because to watch him
54:29in the flesh
54:30is a joy to behold
54:31what a talent
54:32I mean the stats
54:32were incredible last night
54:33yeah absolutely
54:34and I think
54:35the only thing you could say
54:36is like maybe some
54:37of the end products
54:37could be better there
54:38but we're talking about
54:39a 17 year old
54:39who looks like
54:40one of the best players
54:41in the world right now
54:41I think his ability
54:43to go and take it
54:43to any defender
54:44in front of him
54:45and for him to be fearless
54:46you know those are
54:47the sorts of things
54:47which many young people
54:48kind of shy away from
54:50but for him
54:50he can go down the line
54:51he can come inside
54:52he wants to square people up
54:53you can kick him
54:54he bounces back up
54:55you know so all these things
54:57which you have in your armory
54:58to go against a young player
54:59all of a sudden
54:59they don't have the value anymore
55:01and I think as I see him play
55:02I think to myself
55:03this is potentially
55:04one of the best players
55:05in the world
55:06throughout his career
55:06at 17 to be this good
55:08I think what he's like
55:09when he has more experience
55:10this is his 102nd game
55:12for Barcelona maybe
55:13at the age of 17
55:15what's he like
55:16when he reaches
55:16his big old age of 20
55:18for example
55:18it doesn't follow
55:19that this means
55:20he's going to be better
55:21than him
55:21but I aspire to say
55:23that Jamal is better
55:24at 17 than Messi
55:25stop it
55:26poor Lamine
55:28but yes
55:29we all expect
55:30something like this
55:30to happen
55:31that he reaches those heights
55:32but you're talking right now
55:33about somebody
55:34that dribbles the ball
55:35more than anybody successfully
55:36somebody that actually
55:38steals the ball
55:39more than anybody else
55:40look at the amount of touches
55:41in the opposite box
55:42for instance
55:43and this is what Insagi has said
55:46he just basically
55:48makes so many good decisions
55:49which is for 17
55:50but he did a couple
55:52of bad decisions
55:53in the first half
55:53one drop too deep
55:54to get involved
55:55and then you didn't see
55:57the Barcelona
55:58that posed so much threat
55:59in the last third
56:00things to learn
56:01this team goes forward
56:03and is built around him
56:04and he will just get better
56:05and better you'd imagine
56:06let's have a little look
56:07then at what we can see
56:08maybe will give us
56:09an indication
56:09of where this championship
56:10and this final is going to go
56:11because you've got the oldest
56:13as I've said in Inter
56:14and you've got the youngest
56:15in Barcelona
56:16of the last 16 teams
56:18that were left
56:18and there they are
56:19sorry PSG
56:21in the final
56:22and so this
56:23does it give us anything
56:24any indication
56:25of where this is going to go
56:26do you think maybe
56:27well
56:28sometimes it's nice
56:30to lean into experience
56:31especially on the big occasion
56:33but I think as we've seen
56:34from this PSG side
56:35they do find different ways
56:36to do it
56:36we've seen them at times
56:37dominate games
56:38and look great
56:39there's seen times
56:39where they suffered
56:40like we saw today
56:40against Arsenal
56:41and they also find a way
56:42but it's really interesting
56:44not least of all
56:44because Inter Milan
56:45are trying to avenge
56:45the fact that they lost
56:46in the final two years ago
56:47but I think that age gap
56:49is perfect
56:50and this group of players
56:50they're going to be
56:51disbanded soon aren't they
56:52they're not all going to be
56:53together in a couple of years time
56:54well listen
56:55it's extraordinary
56:56that Acerfi is still going
56:57but I don't believe
56:57he can go on forever
56:58I do think it's
57:00that line of experience
57:01just made me laugh quickly
57:02just because
57:03that's what Arsenal are getting
57:04right now
57:04being in the semi-final
57:05that's what Inter have
57:06they were in a final
57:07two years ago
57:07I think a huge part
57:08of why they're here right now
57:09is because of that experience
57:10and that's what they're going
57:11to be hoping
57:12is tells in the final
57:12we can't wait
57:14before we go
57:15here's some more sights
57:16and sounds
57:17from around
57:17the semi-finals
57:18for more reaction
57:42and debate

58:12and as you just
58:13heard the sights
58:14and sounds there
58:14Nedham said
58:15I think Inter
58:15are going to do it
58:16because of that
58:16experience two years ago
58:17so I think you had
58:18the final word
58:19on that one
58:19a brand new format
58:2036 teams began
58:21the road to Munich
58:22back in September
58:23now only two remain
58:24will it be a fourth title
58:26for Inter
58:26or a first for PSG
