Dry, warm and sunny to kickstart the weekend, with widespread blue skies across much of the UK and high UV levels. Showers arriving from the southwest overnight, spreading into parts of the West Country and Wales for Sunday – potentially heavy and thundery. A scattering of showers also possible for Northern Ireland and western Scotland tomorrow, but the rest of England likely staying dry with further sunny spells. Feeling warm for the time of year inland; fresher along coasts. This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the afternoon of 10/05/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Jonathan Vautrey.

00:00Hello there, good afternoon. This weekend is going to be a fine, dry and sunny one
00:05for many of us. We certainly kicked it off on that note with beautiful scenes
00:09like this, plentiful amounts of sunshine and blue sky so certainly lovely scenes
00:14if you are planning any outdoor activities. Do be aware that we have high
00:18levels of UV at the moment so skin protection probably is advised if you
00:22are out for prolonged periods of time but it'll be certainly dry and fine for
00:26many of us. A little breezy around some of our coastal regions but inland it's
00:29going to be feeling pleasantly warm with highs of 23, 24 degrees Celsius for
00:33parts of central southern England. We may also see 23 across parts of the
00:37Murray Firth as well for parts of northern Scotland. Into this evening though we are
00:42going to start to cast our eyes down towards the far south as we see some
00:46showers spread their way from the Channel Islands and eventually into parts of the
00:49West Country as well. These do have the potential to be heavy and thundery
00:53overnight so you just watch out as they eventually arrive. For the rest of us
00:58though it's going to be a dry night to come and also quite a mild one certainly
01:01frost-free for all of us but some of us may even see temperatures holding up in
01:06double-digit figures as we kick off Sunday morning. We'll continue to see the
01:11showers swirl their way through across the far southwest eventually spreading into
01:15parts of Wales later on. Whilst rain is certainly needed after a pretty dry spring so
01:21far these are going to be in short sharp downbursts and some localised issues may be
01:26possible with lightning and hail in mixture as well. A few showers bubbling up for Northern
01:30Ireland parts of Scotland as well but for the bulk of England and Northern Wales it
01:34is going to be remaining dry. Another very warm day for the time of year. Highs now
01:38peaking around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius just always that little bit fresher along those
01:43eastern coastal districts. We'll continue to see those showers spread their way in from
01:48the south into Sunday evening and these are all driven by an area of low pressure
01:53that's trying to push its way in and that will continue to bring those showers in for the start
01:58of next week particularly on Monday but for the middle of the week that low drifts back towards
02:02the south and allows high pressure to return once again. So for Wednesday onwards we essentially return
02:08to where we started this video forecast with plentiful amounts of dry warm and sunny weather to come.
02:15We'll have plenty more updates of course on all of that on our YouTube channel so do subscribe
02:20and we'll see you again later on. Bye bye!
