Most places dry with a mix of warm sunny spells and areas of cloud. However a band of persistent, heavy at times, rain across Northern Ireland, will slowly move eastwards reaching western Scotland and parts of southwestern England through the afternoon. Feeling warm in the sunshine, cool along eastern coasts and under the cloud and rain. - This is your Met Office UK weather forecast for 25/04/2025. 00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a spittin' fortunes today, many areas seeing lots of warm, sunny spells, but a very different story across Northern Ireland.
00:11Some persistent and at times heavy outbreaks of rain here for much of the afternoon, likely the heaviest around any hilly ground.
00:17And eventually we'll start to see some low clouds, some outbreaks of light rain just push into western parts of Scotland and eventually parts of southwest England too.
00:26But for the large majority, a dry day, a mix of cloud and sunny spells.
00:30But where you see the sunshine, it is going to be feeling rather warm.
00:33Highs of 17, possibly even 18 degrees across the far southeast, but always that little bit cooler around eastern coasts and feeling fairly cool under the cloud and rain across western areas as well.
00:45Through into the evening, we will eventually see the cloud and rain clear its way away from Northern Ireland, pushing into western parts of Scotland, Wales and southwest England.
00:54Once again, it could be heavy at times, heaviest around any hilly areas.
00:58But where it starts to clear across Northern Ireland with lighter winds, it's likely that we'll see a fair few fog patches by the morning.
01:04And fairly similar across the southeast as well, likely seeing some low cloud and some fog to start during the morning.
01:10But with all the cloud outbreaks of rain, that means it is going to be fairly mild, but likely quite a murky start for many as we head through the beginning of the weekend.
01:17And quite damp at times for western parts of Scotland, Wales, once again southwest England as well as this frontal system slowly edges its way eastwards.
01:26But as it does, it largely fizzles away, bringing in more cloud, low cloud and some light outbreaks of rain and drizzle and turning more showery in nature by the afternoon.
01:35So with some sunny spells in between.
01:37But the odd shower could be heavy, particularly across Scotland, you may even hear the odd rumble of thunder.
01:41But for Northern Ireland in particular, it's going to be a much better day on offer, feeling much warmer, drier and with more sunshine on offer too.
01:49And still feeling fairly warm in the sunshine as well, highs of 18 to 19 degrees Celsius, particularly across the southeast.
01:55Now, as we head through into the second part of the weekend, we say goodbye to the cloud and rain from that frontal system and high pressure begins to build across the south.
02:05So for many, it's going to be largely dry day, lots of sunshine and feeling warm once again, warmer than Saturday, in fact, where you catch any sunny spells.
02:13But notice a slight difference in the northwest, a few more isobars on the chart here, some frontal systems moving through.
02:19So a slightly wetter and windier day on offer here.
02:21And into next week, once again, high pressure clings on and temperatures are going to improve day by day, likely getting to the mid to high 20s into next week.
02:29But for more updates on that, don't forget you can subscribe to our YouTube channel and then you won't miss any of our weather updates.
