00:00Man, it took the Pirates a little too long to fire that.
00:03I mean, they should have fired him, like, you could say at the end of last year,
00:06maybe at the end of the year before that.
00:09Derek Shelton walked the plank in Pittsburgh today as he is now off the Jolly Roger.
00:15No more for Derek Shelton.
00:17I mean, thank God he was awful.
00:20And every year they finish fourth or fifth that he was the manager in the Central.
00:25They never did anything.
00:27All they do is lose.
00:28They never get better.
00:30I don't know if I necessarily blame him that they never get better
00:36because I blame that owner and that front office who never gives them any players.
00:42Now, I won't deny that they've been able to draft guys like Paul Skeen.
00:48So, you know, he'll only be there for five years.
00:51And you can say goodbye to him after that.
00:53Like every other star player that's ever played in Pittsburgh,
00:56or they're the first one out the door when they get the chance via free agency,
01:00or they trade him because they're not going to pay him.
01:03They don't pay anybody.
01:05So Shelton's the fall guy.
01:08This guy, Don Kelly, you know, the only thing I know about him is that I remember he played for Jim Leland.
01:14So he was one of Leland's boys.
01:16And then he was, you know, bounced around, you know, from, he debuted in the majors with the Pirates.
01:24And I think he played, you know, bounced around, like I said.
01:28And then he was a, I think he was the third base coach of the Astros for a while.
01:32And then he was a bench coach with the Pirates for the last couple of years.
01:36And now he's the new manager.
01:37They named him immediately the interim.
01:40So he's in charge now.
01:41I will say this much for the guy.
01:43He's a native of Pittsburgh.
01:46He's a Pittsburgher.
01:47And he's a lifelong Pirate fan his whole life.
01:51So he's like true blue, black and gold, no questions asked.
01:57So, you know, we'll give him a shot.
01:59It's hard to work when he got a payroll of 80 million.
