00:00The Pirates getting rid of manager Derek Shelton, because when your organization is flawed, of course, you need somebody to blame.
00:08So after a 12 and 26 start, the Pirates fire manager Derek Shelton.
00:13That's look again, who Derek Shelton is could have fooled me here.
00:18Had no idea. Yeah, if you would have told me like, hey, this guy got the wrong deal.
00:22Comes in the 2025 as the manager and the guy's already gone a month in the season, but didn't work out.
00:26You could have sold me on that. I got no idea who this guy is.
00:29And rightfully, I shouldn't have any idea who the Pirates manager is because they're inconsequential in Major League Baseball as a whole.
00:35They don't win any games. I don't try to spend any money.
00:37And of course, see, and it just doesn't pile all into it.
00:39It's like, all right, we need superstars like Paul Skeens.
00:41So let's go to the manager. Nobody ever heard of why?
00:44Because he's probably cheap as hell and was dying to just be a manager, Major League Baseball.
00:48And this how it works out. Now, other side of the coin, he didn't have a fair chance.
00:51Imagine going to every single game where you are undermanned against 98% of your opponents.
00:57That's what he was up against. So the fact that he got fired, it's like doing me a favor.
01:01Every day, I'm trying to come up with roster combinations where I go, OK, I got O'Neal Cruz.
01:06He's really good. Brian Reynolds, some of the time, is really good.
01:09Everybody else sucks in my lineup. OK, go out there and win.
01:12And every other starter outside of Paul Skeens is terrible.
01:16Good. Go out there and win some baseball games.
01:18Boy, we don't have money to spend on our bullpen. Good.
01:20When we're up 3-2 in the eighth inning, I have nobody to put in and we lose.
01:23Just blame the manager at this point right now.
01:25It's a complete scapegoat. And here's the thing, too, Ben.
01:28It's not as if we operate in a bubble where it's like any owner that takes over Pittsburgh is not allowed to spend money.
01:34It's just the way it has to be.
01:35You can get a tech trillionaire in there that will immediately turn Pittsburgh around and in their winning ways.
01:41This is where a team gets held hostage and the city gets so upset.
01:45Imagine if, like, every four years we vote for president, every six years you vote for the Senate.
01:48Imagine if you could vote who actually owns your team and how much they would have to provide to you in those four to six years to show you their worth of why they should be an owner.
01:57We can't fire owners.
01:59And I feel so bad for Pittsburgh.
02:00With a storied history of Major League Baseball, they're in embarrassment where they actually told fans in the past, Ben, what are you worried about?
02:08The ballpark's beautiful.
02:09Just enjoy baseball.
02:10We're not spending any money.
02:11We're looking to make money.
02:12Deal with it.
