00:00The L.A. Angels of Anaheim, a home underdog today against the Toronto Blue Jays.
00:05Chris Bassett on the bump for the Jays.
00:07They're a slight road favorite at minus 130.
00:10Over-understands at 8.5 DRS.
00:12What's the play today between the Blue Jays and the Halo?
00:14Going to Anaheim.
00:15The streets you know very well.
00:17Being a hometown boy out here with your hometown team at that point.
00:20By the way, Disney World in Florida, the only Disney World, Disneyland.
00:22Nobody recognizes that from Orange County.
00:24Just wanted to get that out there before I broke down this thing here.
00:27Now, Chris Bassett, Toronto's pitcher on the mound, 39 and two-thirds innings pitched.
00:30A .295 ERA with an XFIP of 3.21.
00:34How about that?
00:35A nice little rebirth here for Chris Bassett in 2025.
00:38But you take a look at Jose Soriano.
00:39Not far behind.
00:40A 3.83 ERA, but a 3.41 XFIP number.
00:44That means he's actually getting a little bit unlucky right now.
00:47Do we have two pitchers that can certainly quiet the bats down?
00:49Which last night, we did get some runs here.
00:51I missed out.
00:52I had Vlade Jr. and also George Springer to get an RBI.
00:54They didn't factor into the equation.
00:56Maybe they do that today.
00:57But Chris Bassett does struggle a little bit with left-handed batters.
01:0089 batters he's faced on the season as a right-handed pitcher.
01:03A .188 ISO, slightly above, and a .341 weighted on base percentage, slightly above.
01:07But he has a real low walk rate and a very good K rate, which is why the XFIP number looks so good.
01:11In the lineup today, anticipated for the Angels, they've done very well against right-handed pitching.
01:16Zach Netto's got good numbers.
01:17Jorge Soler, Taylor Ward, Logan O'Hoppy, and also Yoan Mokata all have high ISO power numbers.
01:22We'll see if that plays into it.
01:23But typically, as we say, good pitching usually beats out good hitting.
01:27And particularly, not a great hitting ballpark with L.A., more of a pitcher's ballpark.
01:30Similar over there to Chavez Ravine.
01:32If you take a look at Jose Soriano, look at this.
01:34ISO power number, 0.93 against, combined between lefties and righties.
01:38Weighted on base percentage, just about average.
01:40Now, he doesn't strike out as many batters as Chris Bassett does.
01:43But also, looking at the lineup here for Toronto, it is a lot of low K rates, which you do like in the lineup.
01:48But not a lot of high ISO power numbers.
01:50Santander, 178, slightly elevated, which you like.
01:53And then you have Varshow, but only 12 at-bats against right-handed pitching at a 545.
01:56You take that with a grain of salt.
01:58Not much pop in the lineup today for the Blue Jays.
02:00So, maybe we do just see an under.
02:02So, maybe we do just see an under.
