00:00The Red Sox and the Blue Jays squaring off in the six.
00:03Garrett Crochet gets the nod for Boston.
00:06The Red Sox, because of it, with their ace on the bump,
00:09a favorite in Toronto, total stands at seven and a half.
00:13What do you like today between the Jays and the Red Sox?
00:16It's a shame we don't have this game in Boston, right?
00:18Because you would have had 18-mile-an-hour winds
00:19blowing out the right field,
00:20which really would set up some left-handed batters
00:22that I'd like tonight, which we'll get to in just a moment.
00:24But Crochet's been great.
00:25Six starts this year, 37 innings pitched, a 195 ERA,
00:29and an XFIP number of 3.15.
00:32You'll take that each and every time.
00:33You take a look at Crochet on the season.
00:35Look at the ISO against, Ben.
00:360.38, fantastic.
00:38Weighted on base percentage, 2.28, fantastic.
00:40K rate combined between lefty and righty batters, 30%,
00:43which includes a 40% strikeout rate to left-handed batters,
00:47completely neutralizing them.
00:49But I want to focus on the Boston batters
00:51because I don't know if the roof's going to be open or not,
00:53but it's a dome.
00:54Wind's not really going to creep into there all that much and help out.
00:56But that's okay.
00:57If we look at Bowdoin Francis on the mound,
00:5964 left-handed batters he's faced this year, Ben.
01:02A .309 ISO and a weighted on base percentage of .363 against.
01:06That is the danger zone.
01:07So you take a look at some of the left-handed batters
01:09that have done well against right-handed pitching
01:10for those Red Sox this year.
01:1294 at-bats for Duran in the leadoff spot.
01:14366 weighted on base percentage.
01:16Raphael Devers had that terrible start.
01:18Now up to a .208 ISO and a .341 weighted on base percentage
01:21against right-handed pitching.
01:22And then one of my favorite guys in the lineup,
01:24Willier Abreu, 90 at-bats against right-handed pitching,
01:27a .266 ISO and a weighted on base percentage of .404.
01:31Yes, Boston is favored to the better team tonight.
01:33But if I'm looking from a player perspective,
01:35those left-handed batters based on,
01:37I'm going to focus on a little bit more about Francis later today,
01:39on those splits together, that's the direction I'm going.
01:42Left-handed bats for Boston should do some damage tonight.
