00:00Good morning, happy Thursday. Here is your market open update.
00:07Futures tracking Canada's main stock index moved higher Thursday, lifted by a global market rally
00:11after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans for a preliminary trade agreement in his ongoing
00:15tariff dispute. The TSX futures were up 0.5% at 6 a.m. Eastern Time. The venture still clenching
00:21yesterday's gains and futures of the Dow in the Nasdaq both add on over 200 points.
00:25Peeking into some headlines, a new report says Canada should push for a fresh auto trade deal
00:30with the U.S. and Mexico if it can't get Washington to scrap tariffs. And the U.S. Federal Reserve has
00:36left the key rate unchanged as it sees risk of higher prices and higher employment.
00:40Over to currency futures where the Canadian dollar did slip over a quarter percent to the greenback
00:44falling to 71 cents U.S., also down against the euro and Bitcoin snaps on over 3,200 points.
00:50And dipping into commodity futures starting with copper up close to half a percent,
00:54gold tips down, WTI holding at $59 U.S. a barrel, and natural gas skips up over 2%.
