00:00Good morning, happy Wednesday. Here is your market open update.
00:07Futures of Canada's main index kicked upward this morning as investors focused on a potential
00:11de-escalation in the US-China trade war. The TSX index was up 0.7% as of 6.30 Eastern Time,
00:17the venture also on the climb, and futures of the Dow and the Nasdaq both up over a quarter percent.
00:22Over two headlines were, yes, US and China are set to hold talks in Switzerland this weekend,
00:27offering markets a possible first step towards easing the trade standoff pressuring global growth.
00:33And the US Federal Reserve could keep its key rate unchanged for several more months as it
00:37evaluates the impact of US President Donald Trump's widespread tariffs on hiring and inflation.
00:43Taking a look at currency futures where the Canadian dollar is up on the greenback,
00:47steady at 72 cents US, sliding against the euro and Bitcoin dominates with a 4,300 point gain.
00:53And we'll tail it off with commodity futures with a pretty solid start across the board.
00:58Copper is slightly down, gold hands back 1%, WTI tips up and sitting at $59 US a barrel,
01:04and natural gas for the win taking over 4% this morning.
