Punjab Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs in IPL 2025 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on May 4. Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first. Akash Singh (2/30) dismissed Priyansh Arya early and started the innings on positive note for Lucknow Super Giants. Josh Inglis (30) counter-attacked immediately and with Prabhsimran Singh (91) provided Kings a good start. After Akash returned to dismiss Inglis, Shreyas Iyer (45) joined Prabhsimran and the duo set a brilliant foundation for Kings to launch. Nehal Wadhera (16), Shashank Singh (33*) and Marcus Stoinis (15*) contributed alongside them to take Kings to strong 236/5. Digvesh Rathi (2/46) helped pull back things for Super Giants alongside Prince Yadav (1/43). While defending, Arshdeep Singh (3/16) ran through the top order of Lucknow Super Giants pushing them to 27/3. Azmatullah Omarzai (2/33) made things worse for Super Giants as the latter was struggling at 73/5. It was then Ayush Badoni (74) and Abdul Samad (45) stitched a partnership of 81 runs, delaying the inevitable loss. Badoni played brilliantly and some fireworks from Avesh Khan (19*) in the end took them closer to the target but Super Giants finished well behind the finishing line. This is the seventh victory for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 and sixth loss for Lucknow Super Giants.
