Mumbai Indians won against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 at Wankhede Stadium, clinching the contest by four wickets on April 18. Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked Sunrisers to bat first. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave Hyderabad a solid start, before Pandya removed the latter for a 28-ball 40. Will Jacks struck soon twice, first removing Ishan Kishan for (2), then picking up Head's wicket for a 29-ball 28. Heinrich Klaasen kept the innings afloat, scoring a quickfire 37 off 28, while others like Nitish Reddy, Aniket Verma, and Pat Cummins contributed with (19), (18*), and (8*), respectively. Jacks was the best bowler for Mumbai, with figures of 2 for 14, while Trent Boult (1/29), Jasprit Bumrah (1/21), and Pandya (1/42) picked one wicket each. Rohit Sharma provided Mumbai Indians a brisk start with Ryan Rickelton, but ended up losing his wicket for a 16-ball 26 to Pat Cummins. Jacks and Rickelton steadied the ship, but the latter too fell soon, as Harshal Patel dismissed the opener for 23-ball 31. Suryakumar Yadav and Jacks added 52 runs for the third wicket, and took Mumbai out of peril. However, Cummins managed to bring Hyderabad into the contest, picking up the wickets of Yadav (26 off 15) and Jacks (36 off 26) in quick time. Tilak Varma, along with Hardik Pandya, ensured that Mumbai remained in the hunt, with a 34-run stand. Eshan Malinga created artificial excitement for Hyderabad, claiming Pandya (21 off 9) and Naman Dhir's (0 off 3) wickets in a single over. But Varma remained unbeaten on 21 off 17 to help Mumbai cruise past the finish line.
