00:52What does the infection look like?
00:53Get back to the truth.
00:56How does the rest of the world respond to that?
00:59Has the country been quarantined, essentially abandoned?
01:04The Holy Island, which is where our film begins, it's protected by a causeway that you can defend, but there's a lack of machinery, no electricity or fuel.
01:14Everything that surrounds our life now, suddenly it's useless.
01:18The mainland then becomes somewhere over there, which has both promise and threat.
01:24When countries collapse for one reason or another, they're often abandoned.
01:29There's a ruthless, pragmatic, dog-eat-dog dimension to the way these things play out.
01:38And the infected, these are extraordinary creatures.
01:43They haven't died and come back to life.
01:45They're living people who've got sick and been infected with the rage virus.
01:52That dictates some stuff.
01:53They need to drink, they need to eat.
01:55If they've survived 28 years infected with this disease, what would they look like?
02:01Are they similar to anything in the animal kingdom?
02:04What would they be similar to?
02:05When you're doing a movie, you're looking for those images that will terrify people.
02:13There's a visceral element to cinema where you have a responsibility to push the envelope as far as you can go.
02:21Now, son, Spike, finish it!
02:23I want that sense of suffocating intensity.
02:29It doesn't feel like a sequel.
02:31It feels like an original film.
02:32It feels like an original film because...
02:49yerbeam.
