00:03Beijing is evaluating an offer from Washington to hold negotiations on U.S. President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs.
00:11China's Commerce Ministry says the U.S. has approached Beijing to seek talks, adding that it was open to discussions.
00:19However, it warned the U.S. not to engage in extortion or coercion.
00:23The ministry also said the U.S. must be prepared to show sincerity by correcting its previous mistakes and cancelling unilateral tariffs.
00:32Its statement comes a week after Trump claimed discussions were already underway, which Beijing has denied.
00:40Trump's 145 percent tariffs on many Chinese products saw Beijing respond in April with levies on imports of U.S. goods of 125 percent.
00:51At the same time, China has created a list of U.S.-made products it would exempt from its retaliatory levies, which include pharmaceuticals, jet engines and microchips.
