00:00Graffiti incidents on the London Underground are on the rise, with the Central and Bakerloo lines facing particular scrutiny from frustrated passengers.
00:13Commuters have reported deteriorating conditions, with one rider describing Bakerloo carriages as very dirty and covered in graffiti.
00:23The complaints prompted a Freedom of Information request to Transport for London, querying what action is currently being taken.
00:33In response, TfL admitted the situation had worsened recently, attributing part of the problem to a broken automatic train washer.
00:44The track defect was rectified approximately two weeks ago, TfL have confirmed, adding that trains once again are going through the wash system and the fleet's overall appearance is beginning to improve.
00:58Now, while exterior washing has resumed, TfL noted that during the outage, trains were being cleaned manually, a time-consuming process that left some services looking neglected.
01:12TfL said all tube seats are brushed and checked daily before and after service.
01:19Despite the assumption of regular cleaning though, vandalism remains a challenge for TfL.
01:26City Hall is now urging TfL to adopt a zero-tolerance strategy towards graffiti and other acts of vandalism.
01:35Nightbridge Station has received a major accessibility upgrade.
01:40TfL marked a significant step forward in accessibility with the opening of a new entrance and lifts at Nightbridge Station in West London.
01:52The Hoopers Court entrance now features three lifts, accommodating 17 people each and providing step-free access to the Piccadilly Line for the first time.
02:04This project now restores public access to areas of the West London Station that had been shut for nearly a century.
02:11And plans for the North East tram line have stalled indefinitely.
02:17In contrast to Nightbridge's progress hoped for a new tram line in North East London have now stalled.
02:23Havering Council, which in 2023 expressed an interest in a North to South tram route, confirmed that no further work has been done due to the lack of funding.
02:35Council leader Ray Morgan previously said that a feasibility study would be commissioned to explore the potential for better links within the borough.
02:46Havering's spokeswoman added that they have not been idle around this issue and have been lobbying for greater investment in their infrastructure.
02:57We'll see you in the next two weeks.
