00:00The new names and colours of London's six overground lines are being rolled out across
00:06London from Wednesday, Transport for London has said. When the overhaul was announced
00:11in August 2023, TfL said it wanted to give the routes distinct identities to make it
00:17easier for passengers to navigate the network. Most TfL customer information channels and
00:23the 113 London overground stations will see the changes implemented from the 25th of November,
00:30although a small number will update before then, TfL has said. The change is estimated
00:36to cost £6.3 million, which will be paid out of Mayor of London Sadiq Khan's Greater
00:42London Authority budget.
00:47The operator of the Elizabeth Line has lost its bid to renew its contract, Transport for
00:51London has said. MTR operations will be taken over by GTS Rail Operations, a joint venture
00:59between Go Ahead Group, Tokyo Metro and Sumitomo Cooperation. TfL said the new operator would
01:06bring the best parts of Tokyo and London to the Elizabeth Line. Clare Mann, TfL's Chief
01:12Operating Officer, said she was delighted to appoint the contract.
01:18London's Cable Car has had an average of just four contactless and oyster journeys
01:23in each direction during its first hour of operation each day in the past year, prompting
01:29TfL to propose reducing its opening hours. The IFS-sponsored gondola currently opens
01:37from 7am on Monday to Friday, and from 8am on Saturdays and 9am on Sundays. Under the
01:44proposal, external services would start an hour later between Monday and Saturday, but
01:50continue to operate until 10pm, seven days a week.
