00:00Hey there, I'm Andy Summers on the red carpet with the Travises.
00:05Thank you so much for being here.
00:08This is just such a thrill and it's so great to see you out and you look amazing.
00:15Yeah, you're very welcome.
00:16So I know this has been a long road.
00:19So talk to us a little bit about that.
00:22I've just been reading so much about decisions that have had to be made over the past 10 years
00:26and it's just, I'm just kind of in awe that you're here, like I'm flummoxed.
00:33Well, I mean, the big decisions were made back when we were in the hospital
00:39and that was for five and a half, six months of big decisions daily.
00:43And since then we've been so blessed because he's been healthy,
00:47we haven't been back to the hospital, we haven't had any complications.
00:51So God's taken good care of us, I tell you, in the last 10 years
00:56because the stroke was 11 years ago.
00:58So it's just wonderful that he's still out there.
01:01He still gets to be around the music.
01:03He still gets to make some music.
01:05Which is amazing.
01:06Yeah.
01:06So let's talk about that too because I understand that this song is,
01:10there's AI involved in this, right?
01:12So what all does that mean?
01:14Well, it took us about a year to fine tune it.
01:18And Kyle Lenning, his longtime producer, his career-long producer,
01:22and Chris Lacey from Warner, they contacted us last June and said,
01:26what would y'all think if we went down this AI road?
01:29And, you know, 11 months ago, 12 months ago,
01:31AI was still very new sounding to everybody.
01:34So we were like, well, absolutely.
01:36They said if we could give Randy's voice back to the world.
01:39And I was like, oh, you know, so it was a hallelujah moment for me.
01:45And so we worked on it, and they used 42 stems or 42 songs
01:50and pulled stems from 42 songs from his career
01:54and laid them over the vocal that James Dupre laid down.
01:58And so, and he and Kyle sat in the studio shoulder to shoulder,
02:02and this is the way Randy would sound.
02:05And this is, you know, it was just a, it was wonderful to see how it all transpired.
02:10Like, who would have thought, right, that this is where technology would be?
02:14And this is, I mean, even 10 years ago,
02:17I'm sure you had no idea that you would be, you know, sitting here at the ACMs.
02:22But then for all this technology to kind of bring you back out into the forefront
02:26is really just remarkable.
02:27What a blessing.
02:30You're good.
02:31Yeah.
02:32Yeah, absolutely.
02:33Well, thank you guys so much.
02:35Sweet, thank you.
02:35God bless you.
02:38Y'all are so sweet.
02:40Well, you know, I'm sure everyone has had the same reaction.
02:43I'm just really overwhelmed.
02:44You know, he's been, he's the, he's kind of, we're the old people now.
02:47We're 65, so we're the old people in country music.
02:50And it's funny because he didn't, he never liked technology.
02:54Yeah.
02:54But on the front end of his career,
02:56he's the one that was doing the video walls first and the music videos.
02:59Right.
02:59Now he's doing AI, and people are like, he doesn't even carry a telephone.
03:03I know.
03:03Well, I mean, and seriously, that's a big deal.
03:05So it's funny because, um, so Rachel, who is doing the video right now, she and I were
03:09just talking to Nicole.
03:10Nicole, come on in here.
03:11Um, so, and, and Nicole is younger than we are.
03:14And so like, I came up in country music, um, you know, in the nineties, you know, Randy
03:19Travis, a huge, huge deal with that.
03:21Right.
03:21I'm going to make sure that your microphone is on Nicole.
03:23Um, you know, but, but it is like you, you were, I was telling Nicole that you were really
03:29the trailblazer that really brought country music to what it is today.
03:34Like you were the guy, right.
03:36That really modernized that sound and paved the way for Garth Brooks and everybody else.
03:42So, um, and you're still doing that.
03:45Yeah.
03:45And I was saying how it is so impressive how you still love it so much that you're here,
03:50right?
03:51Like the fact that you're still here, you're still doing it.
03:54You're still doing radio row for us.
03:57You know what I mean?
03:58Like, it's, I was like, this is why you're a legend.
04:00So thank you for doing this for us.
04:02And yeah, it's a, it's a pleasure to meet you.
04:04And it is what sets country music apart from every other genre.
04:08So I mean, yeah, absolutely.
04:10And the fact that you're here, um, with us just speaks volumes, not just to Philadelphia
04:16and our audience, but to the other artists as well.
04:19Um, it, it's just, it's what, and if you're not working as hard as Randy, you're not working.
04:26Thank you so much.
04:27Thank y'all.
04:28We sure are glad you're here.
