00:00So what have we got in sports, Dave?
00:01Okay, we'll start with football, where Buffalo Bills safety DeMar Hamlin is showing signs of improvement in a Cincinnati hospital.
00:10Good to hear.
00:11That's according to Hamlin's uncle, who spoke to the NFL Network yesterday.
00:16His name is Dorian Glenn, and he said DeMar Hamlin is still in intensive care, but has improved to 50% oxygen on a ventilator as opposed to 100% on a ventilator when they brought him in.
00:33Any improvement's a good one, right?
00:34Yes.
00:34Certainly, he says they're thankful, but he also says DeMar is still fighting, and so the family needs everyone's well wishes.
00:43Of course, Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after tackling Bengals receiver T. Higgins during the first quarter of Monday Night Football's Bills-Bengals game.
00:52Very scary incident.
00:53There is a name for that condition that I mentioned yesterday about what it could be, that idea that if you take even not a crazy hard, but a blunt force trauma directly where your heart is,
01:05at the moment it's supposed to beat or receive that electrical pulse, is called commodio cordis.
01:12And that interrupts the heart from beating, and it just stops it.
01:17Well, very scary stuff.
01:18Yep.
01:19As for the Bills-Bengals game itself, the NFL still has yet to make a decision on when or if they will play that contest.
01:26Both teams are headed to the playoffs, and the game will have seeding implications.
01:30But then again, obviously, DeMar Hamlin's health is, I think, first and foremost on their minds, as well as, you know, probably you've got to be thoughtful of what the Buffalo Bills players themselves and coaches are going through.
01:45My God, for sure.
01:46The Bills are scheduled to play the Bengals this weekend.
01:49So, I would imagine that that game will go on.
01:55And if Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs win on Sunday, they have the number one seed wrapped up in the AFC.
02:02So, what I'm saying is the Bills wouldn't really need to play.
02:07Right.
02:07And maybe you just don't play that game.
02:09I tell you, though, if this young man, God forbid, takes a turn for the worse, and they play this weekend, you can write off any sort of humanitarian caring anything.
02:26The NFL, they cannot play if this guy takes a turn for the worse.
02:31No, yeah.
02:31So, that's a...
02:32They've got to wipe out the whole last week, and I don't even know what you do then.
02:35I agree.
02:36That ain't up to me.
02:38Hockey, the Rangers.
02:39Snapped the Hurricanes' 11-game win streak as the Rangers beat Carolina last night 5-3.
02:46Mika Zabinijad and Ke'Andre Miller each had a goal and an assist in the Ranger victory.
02:53The Devils and Flyers were inactive tonight.
02:55The Devils face the Red Wings in Detroit.
02:58The Flyers next play on Thursday when they go against the Coyotes.
03:01Basketball, the Knicks, Nets, and 76ers all off last night.
03:05This evening, the Knicks take on the Spurs at Madison Square Garden.
03:10The Nets play the Bulls in Chicago.
03:12The Nets are on an NBA-best 11-game win streak.
03:16They've gotten to 25-12 this year.
03:18The 76ers play the Pacers in Philadelphia.
03:21And finally, baseball.
03:22Big news for Yankee Universe.
03:24Maybe not a sexy headline in terms of a big free agent slugger or pitcher,
03:30but I believe this is a big deal, Yankee Universe.
03:33Listen up.
03:34What do you got?
03:34The Yankees are bringing in former San Francisco Giants general manager Brian Sabian
03:41as a special assistant to Brian Cashman.
03:44Now, Sabian has had tremendous success in San Francisco.
03:49He won three World Series championships, 2010, 2012, 2014.
03:55Wow.
03:56He's also been named Major League Baseball Executive of the Year twice.
04:01While the Yankees say they're bringing in Sabian for his legendary scouting skills,
04:08I believe they're actually holding Brian Cashman's feet to the fire this year.
04:12We got someone we can replace you with if we don't like what you do.
04:15We got ourselves a Mike White.
04:17Wow.
04:18We got Broadway Mike White.
04:20I don't know if that's the analogy you want because that didn't work out.
04:23Oh, yeah.
04:24This past Sunday, Mike White wasn't exactly.
04:27But you know what I'm saying.
04:28Brian Cashman will get the Zach Wilson treatment if he doesn't start getting, you know,
04:36the act together.
04:37Because basically he doesn't even get credit for the judge resigning.
04:41That's Judge and Hal Steinbrenner.
04:43As far as a lot of Yankee fans are going, it doesn't even seem like Brian Cashman was
04:47even a part of that process.
04:49Yeah.
04:50That judge only met with Hal.
04:51It does seem that way for sure.
04:52So it's like Brian really hasn't done anything.
04:57So hopefully Sabian comes in and is like, you know, Brian, I kind of like it around here
05:02at Yankee Stadium.
