00:00Dave, sports, what do we got?
00:01Well, we're going to start with baseball because the Yankees made a big splash last night
00:05by acquiring left-handed ace Carlos Rodon.
00:09Wow.
00:09Now, this is great.
00:11The evil empire is back.
00:12Oh, yeah.
00:12It's 2009 all over again, and it's about time, honestly.
00:16Let's go.
00:17It's time that they start signing superstars again.
00:20Rodon, he's going to get $162 million for six years.
00:24He was 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA last year for the San Francisco Giants.
00:30He's also pitched for the Chicago White Sox.
00:32Even better, Rodon has pitched extremely well against the Houston Astros.
00:37Oh, we like that.
00:39In seven career starts, he has an ERA of 1.44 against them.
00:43So he has actually totally shut them down, and those seven starts,
00:48they include regular season and postseason.
00:53161?
00:54162 for six.
00:56Divided by six.
00:5727 mil a year.
00:58Not bad.
00:58I mean, that's not filthy.
01:00It's not bad at all.
01:01It's not filthy.
01:01Not in today's day and age.
01:03Back in the day, that was huge money, but now you're getting in.
01:06Players are getting, you know, Trout, for instance, gets $40 million.
01:09Right.
01:10But listen, I got to tell you, I'll give a little credit to Hal.
01:14I think it's Hal and Judge himself who I'm giving credit to because the point is,
01:21Aaron Judge left $40 million on the table.
01:23Indeed, he did.
01:23Because the San Diego Padres offered him $400 million, and he took $360 from the Yanks.
01:28That's incredible.
01:29He said, this is according to multiple sources, he said to Hal Steinbrenner,
01:34I will cut you this break.
01:35I will leave $40 million on the table, but get back to signing superstars.
01:41Right, right, right.
01:41None of these, you know, we think we can outsmart the baseball world.
01:46Right, right, right.
01:47And so Judge, I think, gets credit for making this happen, and now the Yankees are really
01:51going to be a formidable team.
01:53One more move?
01:54Two more moves?
01:55Well, keep in mind, infield-wise, they have a ton of young talent.
02:01I think the best moves that they can make now are addition by subtraction.
02:06I don't want to see Donaldson and Hicks on the team.
02:11That's where I was heading.
02:12Yeah, I don't want Donaldson on the team, and I don't want Hicks on the team in 2023.
02:16If they can make those, just make those guys disappear, I'm actually okay with not even
02:20acquiring anyone anymore.
02:21It's been a pretty good winter.
02:23Yeah, it's been a pretty good winter.
02:24It's going to be a nice holiday season for the Yankee fans.
02:27Hockey, Devils lost to the Flyers last night.
02:30Two to one.
02:30What's going on here?
02:32That's four in a row the Devils have lost.
02:33Now, they're still 21-7-2.
02:35I'm just saying.
02:36That's hockey for you, man.
02:37It's hockey.
02:38It bounces.
02:39I hear you.
02:39Flyers goalie Carter Hart had a huge game with 48 saves in the Philly victory.
02:44Meanwhile, the Rangers took down the Maple Leafs three to one.
02:48Jimmy Vesey had two goals for the Rangers, and Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin had 22 saves
02:53to pick up the win.
02:55Basketball, the Knicks, Nets, and 76ers were all off yesterday.
02:58Tonight, the Knicks take on the Bulls in Chicago.
03:00The Nets go against the Raptors in Toronto.
03:04Sixers play the Warriors in Philly.
03:06Football, the 49ers defeated the Seahawks on Thursday night football, 21-13.
03:11San Fran's Christian McCaffrey ran for 108 yards and a touchdown.
03:15The Niners improved to 10-4.
03:17They look like a really good team.
03:20Seahawks fall to 7-7.
03:22This weekend, Jets take on the Lions at MetLife Stadium, 1 o'clock.
03:27Now, the Lions have won two in a row.
03:28They are not a bad team at 6-7.
03:30As Mike White, how are your ribs?
03:34Mike White?
03:34How are you feeling right now?
03:35He's got to play.
03:36How are you feeling?
03:37I say just put a flap jacket on Mike White.
03:40Can you get him a bulletproof vest?
03:42Cover him in some sort of protective Teflon.
03:46How about like a catcher's, one of those catcher's chest protectors?
03:50He got his ass crushed.
03:52He needs something.
03:54I wouldn't be surprised if he's wearing, at least underneath his jersey, a very serious ribs brace.
03:59But so impressive because he hung in the pocket.
04:02He knew the hit was coming.
04:04And he delivered so many of those.
04:07Anytime he got crushed, the pass was perfect.
04:10And he kept coming back.
04:11That's the key.
04:12And he was doing these third down long passes.
04:15These passes.
04:16Hey, it's third and 15.
04:18All right.
04:18Here's an 18-yard strike.
04:20Third down conversion right there.
04:22Mike White, the Broadway Mike.
04:23I'm telling you, the future of the Jets right there.
04:26Broadway Mike White is going to get the job done.
04:29The Eagles go against the Bears in Chicago.
04:32Eagles looking to improve to 13-1.
04:35And then on Sunday night football, the Giants take on the Washington Commanders in a huge NFC East game.
04:42I really think the Giants have to win this if they realistically want to make the playoffs.
04:47I know it wasn't supposed to be a playoff year.
04:49So that's why I'm not freaking out with the Giants the way I would normally freak out with my sports teams.
04:54Still, if you can make the playoffs, you want to make it.
04:56I think if they can beat the Washington Commanders, they will make the playoffs.
05:01But that's a big if.
05:03Washington has really played well lately.
05:04And we'll see what happens.
05:05That's a quick look at sports.
