00:00Well now it looks like Saki likes to slither. Here's a look at the Mattel Turtles of Greyskull Super Shredder Mutated Serpent Ninja Master.
00:22It was not Shredder's first time submerged in the ooze. Last time he emerged mutated with insane strength.
00:28This time fused with King Hiss's venom, Shredder is now the Snake Man's weapon of destruction, Super Shredder.
00:35You know when you have such a strong hatred for those radical reptiles and then choose to become one yourself, it kind of makes you look like a little bit of an hypocrite.
00:42Either way though, before we get a closer look at the Turtles of Greyskull, Reptile Wars Super Shredder.
00:47Let's take the tape measure and see how super the figure actually is.
00:50Despite looking big and bulky, Super Shredder actually isn't all that tall, and you'll see in a second.
00:54In fact, actually, if we take the tape measure, he's only about 6 inches in height, or about 15 centimeters tall.
01:01In fact, it's not until you bring in the original Shredder do you realize Super Shredder has shortcomings.
01:06You know, he looks impressive, but you know, if he's going to be a mutated version of this guy, you would think that he'd at least be taller.
01:11Like maybe the likes of Slacker, for example.
01:14Slacker is a good size candidate, and Slacker is a B-list character.
01:18If a B-list character gets that much dedicated plastic, Shredder, the main baddie of the Turtle line, should be a lot bigger than what he actually is.
01:25And if you compare, like, against a Leonardo, for example, he's nowhere near the size of Leonardo, nor is he near the size of Hordak.
01:33And even then, to bring in, like, one of my favorite figures, like Leatherhead, for example,
01:37there's not any character that we are looking at right now that can say that he's shorter than the character that we're looking at in this review.
01:43As for Super Shredder's accessories, the figure does come and include with a paper pamphlet.
01:46But everything that's marked currently in gray can be swapped out and replaced with every other figure from the Master Universe or Turtles of Grayskull line.
01:53You want to maybe detach his arms? Don't do that!
01:55Yeah, well, you can go ahead and do that.
01:57You can also remove his head, divorce it from his entire body.
01:59You can also as well take his lower half off, too.
02:02So again, like with customizers, I'm sure you could easily find some really interesting parts of Super Shredder that can then be mixed around with other figures as well.
02:09I have no plans at all to keep this, so I'm just going to put it off to the side carefully.
02:13I'm not going to feel the need to throw this this time.
02:15I might, in fact, also discard this, too.
02:18I mean, we'll also get these index cards.
02:20A mini-comic I would have preferred myself, but we get ourselves a 3x5, even smaller from that.
02:26A version of Super Shredder?
02:27I mean, it looks okay from the card, and obviously on the back it tells us some details that maybe you didn't already know.
02:32The mutated serpent ninja master.
02:34Super Shredder is the master of ninjutsu.
02:36Razor-sharp shredding armor.
02:37Superhuman strength.
02:39Mutation.
02:40Lethal snake venom.
02:42Regenerating snake body.
02:43And super serpent strength.
02:45Sorry, I didn't mean to spit all over you.
02:47I mean, it's a nice-looking card.
02:48I never really hold on to these cards.
02:49Even though I think I still have slacker, I don't think I'm going to have any real need to keep the Super Shredder.
02:54I mean, like, mini-comic for me, I would have rather to get that instead.
02:57I do actually like the figure that does come in clue with also these two pieces.
03:01He gets part of a spear, or a scepter, I suppose, and he also comes in clue with a dagger.
03:05If you like the look of these separately, you might even like the idea that you can also connect them together.
03:09There's a hole right here, and there's a peg right here.
03:12Connect the two together, and now you've got yourself sort of a trident.
03:15I really like the look of this trident.
03:17And you can also see as well, like, it's got some really cool details on it.
03:20It kind of looks like it's got a snake face holding on to little pincers.
03:24It kind of looks like a stag beetle.
03:26It's also got a serpent here.
03:27Is that the time serpent from Cobra La?
03:29I don't know.
03:31One thing that's also kind of interesting, too, is it's the only bit on the serpent's spear, or scepter,
03:35that actually has a hole on the end of it.
03:37The only thing I can think of, though, is other than maybe just saving a little bit of plastic.
03:41I mean, they felt the need to hollow out the back like this.
03:43You can actually take this part of the scepter.
03:45And even though I know this is probably not the intended plan for this,
03:48if you look at the spikes right here, they happen to be about the same size.
03:51Yeah, you can take that and attach it onto his gauntlet.
03:55I mean, again, I know that's probably not the intended plan for that.
03:58But at least I'm taking a problem, like the hollow backing, and I'm coming up with a solution.
04:03I think, if anything, I should get myself a virtual star for that.
04:05Oh, thank you.
04:06Thank you for the virtual star.
04:08So again, you can attach that onto his arm if you really want to.
04:11I guess it does give him a little bit of additional armory.
04:13I mean, not the fact the figure already has that anyways.
04:16And of course, then you can take yourself the dagger, or again, like two.
04:18You can attach the two together and have one cool menacing melee weapon.
04:25Let's put that off to the side.
04:26By the way, of course, obviously, those can fit into the figure's hands.
04:28He does have more, really, a relaxed hand on one side and then a gripping hand on the other.
04:32So really, of the two, it's easier to choose which hand is supposed to be the job for holding.
04:36Yeah, it's this one right over here, over here.
04:39Now, one thing that's kind of interesting is on the back of the packaging,
04:41they did advertise this as being a feature.
04:43The figure does have a removable cape.
04:46I don't really know if I would say that that's a big advertising feature,
04:48but on the side of the box, they actually say, like, you could detach the figure's head.
04:53And you basically can just remove the cape altogether.
04:55I mean, it gives you at least an idea of what the character's going to look like underneath the cape.
04:59Do we really feel the need to add it?
05:00I guess we have to.
05:01We have to give instructions for everything nowadays.
05:03Basically, we just put the head back in place,
05:05and Shredder could basically go slithering around without his cape instead.
05:09The cape itself looks good.
05:10I mean, I'm almost even kind of tempted to use this for, like, a Skeletor,
05:13but, you know, I'm probably still going to...
05:15Being the fact that also, hey, you can also use this cape with this Shredder, too.
05:18So, like, again, like, I guess you would have to kind of take off the entire armor.
05:22Okay, maybe scratch that idea.
05:24If you took everything off and you wanted to have a shirtless Shredder,
05:27kind of like the original Playmates toy line,
05:29I'm sure you probably could have used this cape instead.
05:31I don't really feel the need.
05:33I don't want to detach everything just to prove a point,
05:36just because I know it's going to be such a hard time to get this everything back in place.
05:38But, yeah, if you want to just have a shirtless Shredder from the Playmates days,
05:41just take everything off armor-wise and just put, like, the cape on the back instead.
05:46And also, too, the same rule applies.
05:47I mean, being the fact that these are swappable parts and all,
05:50if you want to use, like, the regular Shredder head and display it with this Shredder...
05:53I mean, granted, yeah, the coloring of his armor is not going to be quite the same color,
05:57but, yeah, if you want to use that instead, you can certainly do that, too.
06:00Couldn't help but also notice, too, that even the Super Shredder,
06:02his head sculpt is noticeably smaller than the original one that we got.
06:06But let's go ahead and pop that off, though.
06:09Leave the decapitated body of Shredder off to the side and pop this back in place.
06:14Now, the tail itself does have posability, but not to the extent that you're expecting.
06:20I mean, like, this whole section right here has to lay permanently flat, obviously,
06:24just so the figure does have the means to stand, if you want to call it that, standing.
06:28I mean, it actually stands a lot better than I was expecting to.
06:31I was just figuring that I'd have to balance this guy, walk away carefully.
06:35Nobody sneeze.
06:35Nobody coughs.
06:36Hey, this guy looks like he's about to sneeze.
06:38Get out.
06:38Get out.
06:39No, no, no.
06:40Actually, this guy stands pretty well, considering, of course, all the part of this tail right
06:45here is completely flat.
06:46Now, the tail itself, if you really look at the packaging...
06:49Should I really bring in packaging?
06:50Okay.
06:51Let's put Shredder here for a second.
06:53If we look at the advertisement feature on the back here, Shredder looks quite imposing
06:57because, of course, he has a longer tail, and it means he's tall.
07:01Unfortunately, though, you can't quite pull off that look because Shredder has to have
07:04at least this part of his tail being the stable base to him.
07:07It's only really, like, these parts here.
07:09This link, this link, and, of course, the body above it.
07:12But the only things that actually can move around on the figure's body.
07:14It's not that I don't like the look of him, but again, like, if you look at how much plastic...
07:19I use this as the example of Slacker.
07:22Slacker gets that much plastic, and you could maybe make the valid argument that Shredder
07:27technically still gets that with a poseable tail.
07:29I just feel like he should have been this height, and not the height that he got here instead.
07:33Now, the head sculpt is good, despite, though, being a smaller head.
07:37You can see now he does have himself, like, serpent fangs, like little tusks there on the front.
07:42I don't know if that's actually part, though, of his helmet.
07:44I guess it probably would be.
07:45Clearly, though, it's not that his mouth is open, or at least this part of his mask is
07:49completely open.
07:50So that's probably just a deco done for his mask.
07:52Clearly, though, he's clearly been turned to snake.
07:54He was once a man.
07:55I was once a man.
07:57Oh, that's G.I. Joe.
07:59Clearly, though, also the color carries over here to the rest of his body.
08:02It's weird, really, though, that only his hands, his lower tail, and the head and the
08:08neck are the only colors in this green.
08:10And then, yet, then everything else for the figure's body instead goes kind of more with
08:14this bluish gray.
08:15I like the color here, but it's so weird, though.
08:18Like, if we were to take off his torso piece, where would this part of the green stop essentially
08:22on his body?
08:23Well, we know it would stop.
08:24It'd stop, like, right there.
08:25But, like, for his body, you would think that, like, this color would carry over to
08:28the rest of the figure's face.
08:30And that going with the green seems so out of place, considering it's only in those three
08:34places.
08:35I do actually like the detailing that they've done here for the front of his, like, loin
08:38cloth.
08:39I like the serpents kind of going together.
08:40It looks like the two serpents are fighting over fire.
08:42No, no, no.
08:43Boys, boys.
08:43There's enough fire for every serpent out there.
08:46He's also got some nice green there, which I guess does bring some of the green in from
08:49the face and the neck.
08:50It just seems really weird, though, that this is the only part of the green that's that
08:54green in the hands and also in the tail down below.
08:57The armor itself looks like it can be removed.
08:59So, obviously, you would just have to remove the hand and slide this off completely.
09:03The shoulders would work probably the same way as well.
09:05You basically just pop the arms off, slide these off.
09:07I mean, to take all the armor off would just devoid, make Shredder devoid of all the things
09:12that kind of make him classic.
09:14I do like that they still retain the idea that Shredder obviously would have these blades
09:17on the ends of his arms, though the blades clearly, though, get pretty close to his hands.
09:22I mean, even just to rotate his hand back and forth, I would imagine he'd be cutting
09:25himself, ouch, ouch, every single time.
09:27I actually like that they've added a little eye there as well.
09:29It kind of actually looks like Lobo's motorcycle.
09:32Boy, I'm just drawing everything out for this review.
09:34Now, for the figure's articulation, it still retains some decent levels of that.
09:38The head's going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate all the way
09:40around.
09:41You don't have to make the noise, obviously, while you're doing that.
09:43Head's going to look up and down and move back and forth.
09:46The figure's only going to retain just a waist swivel.
09:49That goes with the territory of all Master Universe figures.
09:51Same as well for the arms.
09:52They rotate all the way around.
09:54You can hinge them out.
09:55And even though, really, he has these large blades on his shoulders, the figure can still
09:59pull off successfully a T-pose, because, of course, it looks like a capital
10:03T. The only thing that's limited, though, on the figure gets to the point of where we
10:07look at his elbows.
10:08There's a hinge joint right here, but unfortunately, though, there's so much mass of plastic in
10:14the way.
10:14It's like, I just feel like screaming at it every time.
10:17Just get out of the way.
10:18I can't actually bend the elbow, just because there's so much mass of plastic for his armor
10:22around it.
10:24Hands do rotate all the way around, though.
10:25I guess, technically, you could still swivel the arms, despite not being able to bend them.
10:29Then, for, of course, the tail.
10:30The tail does have a sectional ball joint here, does ball joint here, and it does technically
10:35have a ball joint here.
10:37You could, I suppose, cheat and bring this up just a little bit, but you'd, of course,
10:40need to have yourself a display stand, because without that, the figure would have no way
10:44at all of standing on his own.
10:46One other little bit of assembly that was required, too, is the figure does come include
10:49this blade piece.
10:51The blade you could leave off, technically, but unfortunately, though, it's going to leave
10:54behind a very unsightly hole.
10:56So let's just plug up that hole.
10:58Yeah, the figure looks good.
10:59The thing about it, though, let's go ahead and get his cape back in place, too.
11:02Just pop the head back off, get the plastic cape, pop the head back in place.
11:07Yeah, it looks good, but I don't feel it's imposing enough to be called Super Shredder.
11:12I mean, obviously, in this case, we don't have to have Kevin Nash standing in for the
11:16role.
11:16But, you know, for a Super Shredder to be a figure like this, at the very least, at the
11:21very least, you would think that he'd be at least taller than his original non-mutated
11:25itself.
11:26To have him then be shorter like this seems not laughable.
11:30I mean, he's a good-looking figure, but he really should have been dedicated with a lot
11:33bigger of a budget, where I feel, again, like the plastic should have been given to what
11:37we got here with Slacker.
11:39I mean, Shredder is this size.
11:40Super Shredder is a smaller version of him.
11:43And then you've got a character like Slacker who, like, you start to kind of almost feel
11:46like jealous towards.
11:49Like, Shredder should be looking at this guy and thinking to himself, like, why am I not
11:52getting the levels of plastic that Slacker got?
11:54Because then he would really be a true Super Shredder.
11:57He looks the part, but yet I don't feel like he fits the part with not nearly having enough
12:01bulk in plastic to make him towering over all the other figures around him.
12:06Even with Trident in hand, you can see that Super Shredder balances quite well.
12:09You know, considering that we promote the idea that Master Universe figures can be popped
12:13and swapped out the parts with other figures, I was wondering, though, could you maybe pick
12:17up a second Super Shredder, take the tail pieces off the other ones, basically you just
12:22have to dismantle the figure from the lower half, and then use at least, like, the top
12:26three parts before, of course, it curls around to the tail, and add them on as extensions
12:31to the Shredder here.
12:32Because, again, the only real thing that's a disappointing aspect of this figure is that
12:37he's too small.
12:38But if you could add extra tail parts, the only thing about that, though, is that it may throw
12:43the balancing off on the figure, because the way that the tail is molded and flat right
12:46now works with at least the lengths that he's currently working with, but does certainly
12:51pose the idea, a Super Shredder with additional lengths.
12:54Not that we want to go down the route of Stiltman, where everybody is now bragging about how high
13:00their Super Shredder...
13:01No, let's not do that.
13:02Come to some sense, everybody.
13:04Let's be sensible about the matter.
13:06Super Shredder looks good, but unfortunately, the only thing that's really a bit of a deal-breaker,
13:09not that it's a deal-breaker, because I would still say it's a cool figure to pick up,
13:12is that to call him that, Super, in quotation marks, not that even though the packaging doesn't
13:18put it in quotation marks, to call him Super and then be shorter than every other Master's
13:23figure does sort of have to be the one thing that we have to talk about in the room here.
13:27It's not an elephant, it's a serpent.
13:29And with Super Shredder being a serpent, I unfortunately think that the serpent's too
13:34small.
13:34What do you guys think of him?
13:35Let me know down below in the comments section, have you had the chance to pick up Super Shredder?
13:38And are you also tempted to go the route of Stiltman and buy multiple Super Shredders
13:43to make his tail even longer?
13:46If you do do that, I mean, I'm not going to make fun of you if you do.
13:49If you do do that, at least provide a photo of your exaggerated Super Shredder and let
13:53me know how many Super Shredders you used to get the look that you had.
13:58Or maybe even have a contest for virtual stars.
14:00That's fully disclosed.
14:02It's only virtual stars.
14:03If you guys did enjoy this video, you can do it as well and throw it a like.
14:06You guys want to stick around for more?
14:07If so, I hope so.
14:08Hit that subscribe, turn on that bell, and of course, as always, come back.
14:12As always, thanks for watching, guys.
14:13See you next time.
