Mattel Masters Of The Universe Turtles of Grayskull Splinter-Skull Figure
Transcript
00:00He just RRSP'd. The Master can't make it, but he'll be there in spirit.
00:05Here's a look at the Mattel Math Universe Turtles of Greyskull Splinter Skull Spiritual Sensei.
00:10After the turtles vanished, Master Splinter entered a deep meditation.
00:32Time and space faded away when he heard them from far, far away.
00:36He let go of all attachment to his physical form and followed their calling.
00:39It took him to the first planet of the universe, Eternia, where he suddenly appeared at Castle Greyskull as the spiritual embodiment of the power of Greyskull itself.
00:48I sure hope Sensei Splinter is getting a strong enough signal.
00:51How about the first thing we do before we get a closer look at Splinter is we're going to grab the tape measure and see how tall Splinter Skull stands from Turtles of Greyskull.
00:58Even though he's generally a small character, he's going to seem to be the same size of the rest of the turtles we've looked at so far.
01:04In fact, Master Splinter is going to stand at six inches in height, where the figure is about 15 centimeters tall.
01:10Sincere apologies for the delay in looking at Master Splinter.
01:13I actually just recently picked this figure up.
01:15I don't know why it took me so long to grab him, but I'm finally now happy to add him with the rest of the turtle figures that we've looked at so far.
01:21In fact, here's what the figure looks like with Leonardo Donatello.
01:24Hey, why not? Let's also bring in Man-at-Arms.
01:27And seeing as also this figure is though part of the Metal Botto wave, which basically you need like four figures to build Metal Botto.
01:34That wave also consisted of Slacker.
01:37I hopefully get Slacker to stand.
01:39And even though he was an okay looking character, he had a terrible name.
01:42Here's what the figure looks like with Mouse Jaw.
01:45Metal Botto's parts actually consist of two.
01:48He comes with the torso and he also comes to the back shell.
01:50Before we look at either one of those, the figure, first of all, comes included with a useless piece of paper.
01:55What's on the useless piece of paper, you may ask.
01:57You already know by now.
01:58Just to show you the Master Splinter, you can remove his head.
02:01You can take the arms off on either side.
02:03And of course you can remove his lower legs.
02:05Apparently according to this as well, you can remove his tail.
02:07The tail is also obviously, as you can see, a darker gray.
02:10But once you removed it, what are you going to do with it?
02:12It's not like you really attach it onto the back of He-Man's body.
02:14Don't give me any ideas.
02:16Why would they have darkened that?
02:18Makes no sense to me.
02:19Unless maybe you can add it to the end of it.
02:21Maybe you take the hand off.
02:22You can replace with the tail.
02:23Don't give me any ideas.
02:24Anyways, the only idea I have right now is to discard this into recycling.
02:27There it goes.
02:29Probably also going to be going into recycling.
02:31Don't say that.
02:32It's the fact that he also comes included with this postcard.
02:34What am I ever really going to do with these?
02:36In fact, so far the only thing I've done with these is put them inside of freezer bags.
02:39That's usually where I keep my figures because they're larger bags.
02:42The front though does have Meditation Splinter.
02:44The back does have Gray Skull Master Powers.
02:48Enhanced Strength and Speed.
02:49Master of Ninjutsu.
02:51Wisest Sensei.
02:52He's not just the wise Sensei.
02:53He's the wisest Sensei.
02:55Talking rat to ever exist.
02:57Okay.
02:58I guess that is a title.
02:59I mean, if you really are the best at something,
03:01you just happen to be the only person that's doing it,
03:03yeah, yeah, of course you would be easily the best.
03:05Gray Skull Form.
03:06Physical Manifestation of the Power of Gray Skull.
03:09Astral Projection.
03:10Ancient Knowledge of Eternia.
03:12I really don't know what I'm going to do with these.
03:14I actually would have just preferred if this was a mini comic.
03:16I don't know what, you know, a cardboard like this just doesn't serve a purpose for me at least.
03:20Is it going to go into the recycling?
03:22Not yet.
03:24I'm not sure.
03:25I might put it in recycle.
03:27I'm going to put it over to the side for right now,
03:29and I'll ponder over what its fate is going to be.
03:32The fate of these two pieces, though, are going to be putting together Metal Botto.
03:36I think we can actually say at least we've got enough going on here right now,
03:39at least with Master Splinter, that we can do something with these.
03:42Up to this point, the only thing I've really had is just a pile of parts here.
03:46I'm going to put them right all over here.
03:48Between the two figures that we've looked at, again,
03:50Slacker, Mouse Jaw, terrible name.
03:52We've amassed this much of mess.
03:55You get yourself the body, and again, the body is rattling.
03:59The head was also something that was rattling,
04:02but I think we can actually do something with these now.
04:04The head is going to attach just like that.
04:07Is it safe to say that I can make these?
04:09There we go.
04:10I've committed to it already.
04:11And the head, the mouth, does the mouth open and close?
04:14Not really.
04:15Maybe it's supposed to do something once you start adding all the extra parts.
04:18We also get ourselves a shell.
04:20Now, just before I actually put the shell on the back of Metal Botto's body,
04:23so he's got two holes there, and he's got two pegs there,
04:26what you could also really do, too, is on the back of Master Splinter,
04:29there is also his bandolier that also has those same matching holes.
04:32If you'd rather have it on Splinter, you could do that,
04:35and then he just has the extra holes.
04:37These extra holes, really, if you wanted to, you can take off.
04:39I don't know.
04:40It's a little over the top,
04:42but I guess if Master Splinter wants to shoot things from behind,
04:44you could do that also as well.
04:47Also being, I'm just going to detach these,
04:49this sometimes does come loose.
04:51Just put that back in place.
04:53Put it back where I found it.
04:54What you could also do, too, is if you have yourself one of the turtle shells,
04:57the peg placement is exactly the same,
04:59and just plugs it into those holes.
05:02Unfortunately, though, this has happened a couple of times.
05:04The moment I put the shell on the back of his body,
05:06his armor always detaches on me,
05:09and it's always the hardest thing to put back in place.
05:12Do I have it?
05:13Okay, I think I do.
05:14I'm not going to put the shell on Splinter's back.
05:16Splinter already has something that can go on his back.
05:18What I'm going to do is I'm going to add this onto the back of Metal Botto.
05:21Now, it doesn't really, I don't think it really matters,
05:24but if you look at the arch on the bottom of his back,
05:26see how it sits lower than the top of his shell?
05:29If you take the handle,
05:31the handle is going to kind of butt up against that,
05:33so you sort of want to spin it around
05:35and have it flush against the arch of his back,
05:38and that plugs in place that way.
05:40What else can we add?
05:41We can also add the lower body,
05:43so the legs can attach in place.
05:44We're still missing the feet.
05:46The feet are also going to come with the other character,
05:48and we also can add now finally the arm.
05:50The arm is just going to snap in place.
05:53I don't know why.
05:54Is this one going to give me some heartache?
05:57I hope not.
05:58That's going to...
05:59There we go.
06:00It snapped in place.
06:01Not the nicest of sounds it had to make,
06:04and that's basically what we've got so far from Metal Botto.
06:06Now, to go over all the other things that we've already had a look at,
06:09when I did have a look at Mouse Jaw,
06:11I sort of made the mistake of saying, like,
06:13he has these little side ports on the sides of his belt
06:15that you could take, then, these armor pieces
06:17or these hand pieces.
06:18You could attach them onto the end of it,
06:20but the colors don't quite match.
06:21The reason why they don't match
06:23and the reason why these sat so awkwardly on the side of his belt
06:26because, of course, he does have the holes here,
06:28I said, like, why would that make any sense,
06:30and why would these not have been the exact same color?
06:32Well, the reason why they aren't the exact same color
06:34is that they belong to Metal Botto.
06:36So you can either have...
06:37There's holes here on his arms,
06:39so you can attach...
06:41I guess it would have to probably go this way.
06:43So you can have it facing that way.
06:44You can also have them facing outward.
06:47In fact, actually, the picture has this particular cannon arm
06:50sticking out the sides of the shoulders.
06:52Or you can also, as I did earlier,
06:54you can attach them on the back of his body like that.
06:56And then there was also this piece,
06:58and I couldn't for the life of me figure out
07:00what it was supposed to do.
07:01Until it dawned on me,
07:02you're supposed to take the hand off.
07:04This plugs in place
07:07and sort of replaces now the hand.
07:09And then you can take any of the things
07:10that now have the pegs on the ends,
07:12and hey, how about that?
07:13That can plug onto the end of Metal Botto's hand.
07:15So now basically he has...
07:16Basically works the exact same way as Trap Jaw.
07:19And then you got these extra pieces.
07:20So the extra pieces could go on the back of his body,
07:22or hey, why not?
07:23They also can go on the side.
07:25You can really do whatever you want with it.
07:27We could probably do a lot more with it
07:28once we get the final figure.
07:30That's gonna give us the arms.
07:31That's also gonna give us the lower legs.
07:32And then we have ourselves Metal Botto all completed.
07:36Finally, I can say at least I've accomplished something.
07:39I've put the semblance
07:40of what could have been a potentially cool-looking robot,
07:42and now we're making some headway.
07:44Let's move that off to the side.
07:46As for the other accessories, though,
07:47that come included with Splinter,
07:48Splinter gets himself the Spear of Greyskull.
07:51Pretty neat.
07:52The spear can be either held by hand like this,
07:55or you can also take it and detach it altogether.
07:58What's interesting about this
07:59is the way they've colored it,
08:01giving it this sort of frosted blue effect.
08:03Ideally, though,
08:04it doesn't have to even belong to Splinter either.
08:06If you want it,
08:07you could maybe give this maybe to He-Man, obviously.
08:10Just a neat-looking sword.
08:11A little on the stumpier side, obviously.
08:13It doesn't have as long of a blade.
08:14I just think that's kind of neat,
08:16the fact that you can detach it.
08:17And, of course, he does have gripping hands,
08:19so we can just open up the grip here,
08:22take the handle.
08:23Now, you can either attach it by the handle of the sword.
08:25Obviously, if the sword is detached
08:26from the rest of the handle down below here,
08:28he would just hold it by the sword,
08:29or you can also have him holding it higher up.
08:33And for this, you can either slide it down,
08:35or, again, we'll just pry the fingers away from the palm.
08:38Get out of the way, fingers.
08:39There we go.
08:40You can have him holding it that way.
08:42There's no stored space on the back of his body.
08:44I mean, obviously, it's there for the shell.
08:46I guess if you wanted to,
08:47you could take a shell from another turtle.
08:49Not that it's necessarily going to make
08:51any bit of a freeing up of places
08:52to store the extra weapons,
08:54but, you know, let's just say,
08:55we'll take one of the turtle's shells.
08:57Does it fit with the spear? No.
08:59No, it's not wide enough.
09:01I guess maybe you could...
09:02I'm not going to mess with it.
09:04What I am going to, though, mess with
09:06is that the figure also comes included
09:07with a swappable hand.
09:09Not really sure, really, why I would need this hand.
09:11I mean, it's just more of a gestured hand
09:13than a gripping hand.
09:14If you wanted to see what it looks like,
09:15it's just, you know, obviously,
09:16take the hand, just remove it from the form,
09:19and we'll replace it with this hand.
09:22If I only have really the idea
09:23of having the figure displayed
09:24with the spear in one hand,
09:25then, you know what, okay.
09:27Maybe I can entertain the idea
09:28that the figure has more of a gestured hand
09:30on the other side.
09:31This whole time of talking away,
09:32you probably have noticed over here,
09:34does he have a security blanket?
09:36It's not a security blanket.
09:37What he has, though, is a cape.
09:39The cape is a pretty soft material plastic,
09:42and then it does also have a fur trim.
09:44It's fairly easy to get over top of his head.
09:46The only thing that I've noticed, though,
09:48is when you try to get over top of his head,
09:50sometimes, though, and it happens a lot,
09:52it ends up popping the head
09:54right off the top of the peg.
09:56That's what it looks like.
09:57It kind of gives him definitely
09:58more of a regal look to it.
10:00You can certainly have it displayed without it
10:02if you want to,
10:03but the one thing it does sort of hide
10:04is some of the details on the back of his body,
10:06like, for example,
10:07the fact he does have the braided hair.
10:08You wouldn't be able to see it.
10:09The fur would only be in the way of things.
10:11He sort of also has,
10:12at the very top of his braid,
10:13a similar shape to the He-Man logo
10:15that he has on the front of his chest as well.
10:18Looks a lot like also Hercules.
10:19Remember Hercules?
10:21Hercules.
10:22I'm not going to sing it.
10:23Don't worry, I'm not going to sing it.
10:24I suppose you probably could take this off,
10:26maybe use it for another He-Man figure.
10:27I don't know.
10:28That's kind of neat.
10:29I kind of like the look of that.
10:30It does look a little like Hercules,
10:31doesn't it?
10:32This might be one of the coolest-looking
10:33splinters around.
10:34The thing I also really like about this splinter
10:36is it does look very much
10:37like the original Playmates splinter.
10:40Certainly the way it's sculpted,
10:41especially the way they've sculpted it
10:43as well, the nose.
10:44Maybe this is just, like,
10:45it's got the perfect profile
10:47of a Playmates splinter.
10:49Of course, what the original splinter
10:50did not have is blue eyes.
10:52It also didn't have these braids
10:53on the front of his face.
10:55Now, these are all softer plastic.
10:56It also has the braid, of course,
10:57on the back of his head as well.
10:58Softer plastic.
10:59Nice-looking head sculpt, though.
11:00One of the best.
11:01One of the coolest.
11:02Like, if you like the original
11:03Playmates splinter,
11:04it's right up there.
11:05It's right up there.
11:06Colors look really good on this.
11:07He's got some airbrushing there
11:08on the top of the bridge of his nose.
11:10Mostly, though, his body
11:11is all here in brown.
11:12It's kind of more of a light
11:13caramel brown, too.
11:14He's then got a tunic
11:16over top of his body,
11:17and then he also has a very much
11:19kind of Hercules...
11:20Hercule...
11:21I'm not even going to say it.
11:22A Hercule...
11:23Hercules type of belt.
11:25I'm just trying to find a way
11:26to say that that's something
11:27relating to Hercules.
11:28Somebody will let me know
11:29down below.
11:30But, yeah, that is all
11:31basically over top of his body.
11:32I don't think you'd be able
11:33to attach all of this.
11:35I would imagine, though,
11:36underneath all this
11:37would be an unfinished body.
11:38But it's got some nice scroll work
11:39on the sides.
11:41Of course, lower legs
11:42down below here he has.
11:43It's not completely bare legs, either.
11:45He has sort of the suggestion
11:46of what normal He-Man boots would be,
11:48other than, obviously,
11:49his feet would...
11:50There's no way his feet
11:51would actually sit inside
11:52of a regular master's boots.
11:54So, of course, he has to go barefoot.
11:55Speaking of barefoot, though,
11:56he has peg holes
11:57in the bottoms of his feet.
11:58Going back, though, to his tail,
11:59I don't know why, really,
12:00that stupid piece of paper
12:01told me I could remove this.
12:03I mean, sure, once I remove it,
12:04what am I going to do with it?
12:05I can't very well put it...
12:06Okay, you know what?
12:07Just for the sake of this,
12:08I'm always going to kind of
12:09be wondering,
12:10is this something that's...
12:11No, that's never going to fit.
12:13So if that's never going to fit,
12:14what was the whole point
12:15of saying I could remove this?
12:16Yeah, I can remove it,
12:17but what am I going to do with it
12:18once I've now taken it off?
12:20Stupid piece of paper.
12:21I shouldn't really...
12:23I shouldn't say stupid.
12:24I dislike the information
12:27that was provided to me
12:28by that piece of paper.
12:29How's that?
12:30For the articulation, though,
12:31on master splinter,
12:32or splinter skull,
12:34head's going to rotate back and forth.
12:35It goes up, it goes down.
12:36I've got to say, also,
12:37while I'm doing all this,
12:38I don't know how crazy I like
12:40the idea of splinter skull.
12:42I mean, we're talking about rats.
12:43We're talking about splinting skulls.
12:45It just sounds to me so...
12:46It just sounds like
12:47we're hurting animals here.
12:49Anyways, the ball joint's going to allow
12:50the head to rock back and forth as well.
12:51Again, you can move it up and down.
12:52His ears...
12:53I don't...
12:54I haven't spent any time
12:55really talking about splinter's ears,
12:56but they're pretty soft and plastic.
12:58Of course, the arms do rotate
13:00all the way around.
13:01If you did want to,
13:02you could easily swap these off
13:03and change them out
13:04with another master's figure.
13:05The paper tells you to do that.
13:06Just again, thank you.
13:08Do we care?
13:09Am I even going to bother?
13:10Just to show you.
13:11You can take these off.
13:12You can replace them
13:13with other master's figures.
13:14Pop that back in place.
13:16The figure does have a swivel
13:17in his forearm,
13:18but that same swivel,
13:19would you believe,
13:20also has a hinge joint right there
13:21that allows the elbow to bend.
13:23How about that?
13:24Hands rotate also all the way around.
13:25You can hinge them back and forth.
13:26The figure does have a waist swivel.
13:28Legs split out.
13:30You can bring them forward.
13:31You can bring them back.
13:32A little bit of a rock
13:33there at the top
13:34where that's attached by the ball joint.
13:35Single hinge only for the knee.
13:36That allows at least
13:37the lower leg to rotate.
13:38You can, of course,
13:39rotate the lower part
13:40where his boot is.
13:41And, of course,
13:42you've got some ankle articulation.
13:43The feet, similar to his ears,
13:45are very soft and plastic.
13:46Look at him.
13:47Look at me.
13:48I'm squishing the rodent's toes.
13:50Of course,
13:51you've got your ankle rocket there as well.
13:52Nice-looking splinter.
13:53Nice-looking splinter.
13:54And, though,
13:55as a side note,
13:56I keep going back to Hercules.
13:57Why are we spending so much time
13:58talking about Hercules?
13:59I think,
14:00with that tunic,
14:01you could come up
14:02with a pretty jazzy,
14:03schnazzy-looking
14:04Hercules figure.
14:05Of course,
14:06the whole idea of removing the tail
14:07is lost on me.
14:08I don't know why.
14:09What are we going to do
14:10with Splinter's tail?
14:11Anyways, though,
14:12what I can do
14:13is display Splinter
14:14with the remaining turtles,
14:15whether you want to go with the cape.
14:16The cape's right here, by the way.
14:17I'm going to add that back
14:18in the final looks.
14:19Or, you want to go
14:20without the cape.
14:21Splinter is,
14:22honestly, though,
14:23I mean,
14:24even though I've kind of been
14:25lukewarm to the overall turtles,
14:26I've been more kind of excited
14:27for the side characters.
14:28I guess, technically,
14:29Sensei Splinter
14:30would be a side character.
14:31He's a little bit more interesting.
14:32He's a lot more interesting
14:33than the turtles.
14:34And, I don't know
14:35if it's just the fact
14:36I'm looking at his head sculpt
14:37that it reminds me
14:38so much of the original
14:39Playmates days
14:40of collecting TMNT.
14:41Splinter is really neat.
14:42I'm glad I had the chance
14:43to finally pick him up.
14:44I'm a little late, yes,
14:45to finally looking at
14:46this guy in a review.
14:47But, hopefully,
14:48the review was well worth it.
14:49Hopefully, picking him up
14:50for you guys
14:51aren't going to be as easy.
14:52Or, hopefully,
14:53it isn't going to be
14:54as hard for me.
14:55Because, when I was trying
14:56to actually find this guy,
14:57first time actually
14:58checking around the sites,
14:59he was quite available.
15:00Then, I said,
15:01sort of said to myself,
15:02well, you know,
15:03I don't need to get him
15:04right away.
15:05There's other,
15:06more priority,
15:07prioritized,
15:08MOTU stuff
15:09that I really want
15:10to look at first.
15:11Sure enough,
15:12I went back to those sites,
15:13Splinter was all gone.
15:14I ended up finding this
15:15over on the Facebook groups
15:16I wanted to save
15:17like $35.
15:18I guess $35
15:19isn't bad at all.
15:20Because, what we get from that
15:21is a pretty cool
15:22looking Splinter.
15:23Whether he's actually
15:24really there in Eternia
15:25or not.
15:26Oh, and just before
15:27we jump over to the turntable,
15:28I did also want to bring back
15:29in Metal Botto,
15:30just for anyone that had
15:31already picked up this figure
15:32and put everything together,
15:33probably is already
15:34telling me down below
15:35in the comment section,
15:36I'm going to beat you
15:37right to it.
15:38You could swivel the waist
15:39and by swiveling the waist
15:40will also allow
15:41the chattering of the mouth.
15:42Which would then explain
15:43why there was probably
15:44rattling in the body
15:45and why also there was
15:46some additional rattling
15:47in the mouth.
15:48It's that everything
15:49connects together
15:50in a merry chain.
15:51And of course,
15:52rotating the body
15:53causes Metal Botto's
15:54mouth to move.
15:55What he's actually saying,
15:56I really don't know
15:57other than you're going to
15:58have to buy another figure.
15:59You're going to have to
16:00buy another figure
16:01in order to finish
16:02the rest of me.
16:03I suppose, I guess,
16:04if he's the spiritual embodiment
16:05of Master Splinter,
16:06technically I suppose
16:07the figure probably
16:08should have also had
16:09a bit of a bluish glow to it.
16:10The problem with that though
16:11is it would just been stupid.
16:12I mean, let's face facts.
16:13Obviously, anyone I think
16:14would want to have a
16:15version of Splinter,
16:16which is exactly what
16:17we got from Mattel.
16:18Splinter though,
16:19whether you decide
16:20to have the furry cape
16:21on him or not,
16:22I think the furry cape
16:23does add a little bit
16:24of actual regalness
16:25to the character.
16:26Whether he's wielding
16:27though the spear
16:28of Greyskull or not.
16:29The thing I like though
16:30about the spear,
16:31as mentioned in this review,
16:32is that you can detach
16:33the sword from the rest of it.
16:34So if you wanted to have
16:35just as a serviceable sword,
16:36overlooking the obvious
16:37of the fact that the blade
16:38is a little on the short
16:39and stumpy side,
16:40I think the sword
16:41is actually kind of cool.
16:42Splinter though, again,
16:43keep going back to
16:44the head sculpt here.
16:45There's just something charming
16:46about the way
16:47they've sculpted his head.
16:48I feel like they took
16:49a lot of inspirational cues
16:50from the original
16:51Playmates days of Splinter.
16:52Short of maybe the
16:53soft goods material
16:54that he had for his gi,
16:55it's pretty much
16:56Master Splinter.
16:57Oh, and obviously
16:58Master Splinter now
16:59is big and buff.
17:00The real Splinter
17:01really wasn't that.
17:02He in fact needed a cane.
17:03This Splinter
17:04ain't needing any cane.
17:05What do you guys
17:06though think of
17:07Splinter's skull?
17:08I don't know.
17:09I just don't think
17:10the names work
17:11in all that for me.
17:12Calling him
17:13Splinter is one thing.
17:14Obviously if he is
17:15the embodiment
17:16and he's tapped
17:17into the powers
17:18of Greyskull,
17:19it would just make
17:20the most sense
17:21to logically split
17:22the name and combine
17:23them together.
17:24But Splinter skull
17:25and then we're
17:26talking about a rodent,
17:27it doesn't work
17:28as well for me.
17:29But I mean,
17:30I'm just going to
17:31likely call him Splinter.
17:32What do you guys
17:33think of the figure?
17:34Let me know down
17:35below in the
17:36comments section.
17:37Have you guys
17:38had the chance
17:39to pick up the
17:40Turtles of Greyskull
17:41because I've been
17:42sitting on the
17:43back burner
17:44waiting to pick
17:45this guy up.
17:46And finally I found
17:47him on the
17:48Facebook group
17:49because this guy
17:50waited too long
17:51to buy him
17:52through normal
17:53online means.

17:55did enjoy this video,
