00:00Hi, MJ and Fester. I'm a teacher at a Title I school. My kids and I were discussing our end-of-year party, and I told them that we would brainstorm ideas.
00:10The first student said, let's have a bacon party.
00:14Oh my gosh.
00:15These are good kids.
00:16That's the best student ever.
00:17My whole class cheered, and no one offered any other suggestions after that. I was dying.
00:23So I was wondering if you have a bacon hookup, kid-friendly bacon recipe ideas.
00:31I listen to your show on the way to work, but miss quite a bit since I'm in school.
00:35But you always make me laugh on the way in. Thanks, Kelly Montgomery.
00:39Well, Kelly put a phone number on the email, so I've called Kelly. Kelly's on the phone.
00:45Kelly, welcome to the MJ Morning Show.
00:48Hi, good morning.
00:49And, Kelly, a Title I school, is that for, like, some kids that maybe come from disadvantaged homes?
00:56No, it just means that we have some lower-income students.
01:00Gotcha. Well, I guess that would qualify, yeah. I'm just trying to know in Florida what Title I is.
01:05So, Kelly, you send an email. You're looking for bacon help.
01:09You sent this last night, actually, at 9.52 p.m., and I would have figured that Fester would have jumped on this immediately.
01:18And he didn't, because Fester has no idea how to put email onto his new iPhone.
01:22I'm working on it.
01:24After Fester finally replaced an iPhone 6 with an iPhone 12.
01:27Oh, this thing's so complex. I don't even know how to shut it off.
01:30Because your screen was all smashed up. That's the only reason why you got a new phone.
01:33So, Kelly, I'm so glad you emailed us, because we talked about a bacon story, what, a month ago?
01:39Yeah, we did. It was the best way to cook bacon.
01:42Oh, my God.
01:43Yes, I heard that one, the swirls.
01:45Twist it.
01:46All right, so that's what you got to do.
01:49Fester tried it, right?
01:50Yes, and it works wonderfully.
01:52You just take the bacon and keep twisting it and twisting it and twisting it until it kind of looks like a pencil,
01:56and you roast it that way.
01:57Oh, is that what you do?
01:58You take the bacon, you twist it like it's a Twizzler.
02:02You don't twist it once, smartass, okay?
02:04You twist it like you weren't the smartass, Kelly Froggy was.
02:06Kelly, for the bacon party, can you do that?
02:08Can you do the twisty bacon?
02:10I think so.
02:11I just, I don't know how to get it and keep it warm, you know?
02:16Okay.
02:16I don't know.
02:17So, the trick is going to be, you have to make it at home and then maybe put it in the microwave for like 15 seconds or something.
02:21Well, is there any chance that the cafeteria, maybe you could prep it?
02:26Would the cafeteria maybe cook it for you?
02:29Is there any chance of that?
02:32Maybe.
02:32I'll have to ask.
02:33I have an idea.
02:34Oh, what is it?
02:35Yeah, you got to ask the hairnet lady if you can prep it, and there's a special way to do it.
02:42You got to put the bacon on a wire, like a cookie sheet, the wire cookie sheet.
02:47So, you take the strips of bacon and you twist them like they're licorice Twizzler sticks.
02:52You got to just hand out bacon to the kids.
02:54What are you doing?
02:56Put it on a cupcake or something.
02:58I've had a cupcake with a piece of bacon on top.
03:01It was delicious.
03:02That's a good idea.
03:02Do bacon cupcakes.
03:04They don't just want a piece of bacon.
03:05You're going to have greasy hands.
03:06What is this?
03:07But, Kelly, I'm glad you reached out.
03:10Good point.
03:10And the bacon, the twisty bacon is outrageously good.
03:14You got to do that.
03:15Twisty bacon cupcakes.
03:16Yep.
03:16Or do they have a home ec class at your school?
03:20Maybe they have an oven in their classroom.
03:21No.
03:22The funny thing, they're second graders.
03:24Okay.
03:24Come on.
03:24A lot of second graders aren't playing with ovens.
03:28Mine is.
03:29Go ahead, Kelly.
03:30I'm sorry.
03:31Well, normally, the funny thing is they want like an ice cream party or a cupcake party.
03:36And, you know, this group wants bacon.
03:39I think it's fantastic.
03:40That's the best thing I've ever heard.
03:42All right, Kelly, we'll email you the story about the twisty bacon that we did a month ago.
03:47Okay?
03:48Okay, perfect.
03:49Kelly, thank you so much for reaching out to the MJ Morning Show.
03:52And hopefully it's spreading the word that we are back on Q105.
