The mother of former Olympic Cyclist Melisa Hoskins has told an Adelaide court she accepts her daughter’s death was a ‘tragic accident’. Ms Hoskins did when she was struck by a car driven by her husbands, Rohan Dennis.

00:28full of optimism and embracing the challenge of motherhood they've also spoken of the daily grief
00:35and devastation they're still experiencing over the death of the former olympic cyclist
00:41the court has heard more details about events in the lead-up to ms hoskins death an argument had
00:48broken out between dennis and ms hoskins about work which needed to be done on kitchen cabinets inside
00:55their home dennis has removed himself from the argument to calm down getting into a car and
01:01attempting to drive away ms hoskins is said to have followed him and attempted to stop him leaving
01:08when she was struck by the vehicle ms hoskins had momentarily positioned herself on the bonnet of the
01:14car and had come off but was standing close to the vehicle as dennis accelerated so while dennis is not
01:21being held criminally responsible for her death he is reckless to the fact that she was still holding
01:27on to the vehicle both defense and prosecution have agreed that a suspended sentence and license
01:33disqualification would be a suitable sentence given that dennis is now the sole carer of the
01:39the couple's two children dennis is sentenced in may
