Jon Gruden | Gruden's QB Class
Transcript
00:00I've been excited to meet Riley Leonard because he turned the Duke football program around.
00:06And then he took Notre Dame to the National Championship game.
00:10And what I love about Leonard is he has mental toughness.
00:19When I watch him at Notre Dame, he's running the ball like Cam Newton.
00:24This guy's interesting.
00:26I'm just trying to get better.
00:27I'm trying to be a sponge in this process, learn everything I can.
00:30And, you know, who better to teach me than a man, John Gruden himself.
00:34My full potential to me is pretty high, and I feel like I'm just now scratching the surface of it.
00:48You know me, you know I love football statistics.
00:51And let me tell you an impressive stat.
00:53The Chevy Silverado is the undisputed champion.
00:56Capability, versatility, and strength.
01:01That's a truck with MVP stats.
01:03Explore Chevy Silverado at Chevy.com.
01:07QB Class is presented by Chevy Silverado.
01:10I'm fired up to have you here.
01:14I've been doing a lot of research on you.
01:16Is that accurate?
01:19I weighed in at 218 the other day, so I've been eating my chicken sandwiches.
01:226'4", 218?
01:24Yes, sir.
01:24And Fairhope, Alabama.
01:26Where the heck is that anyways in the state of Alabama?
01:29Is that near Tuscaloosa?
01:31No, it's down there by the beach.
01:32I think it's the best place in the world.
01:34Do you recognize this guy here on this breakaway dunk?
01:38Not really.
01:39It's been a while.
01:40Is that you?
01:41Yeah, I think if you ask anybody from my hometown about me, they'll probably say,
01:45oh, Riley, the basketball player.
01:46It's kind of how I'm known.
01:48Back home, I was going to go play college basketball.
01:50That was the plan.
01:52I was going to go play in the EYBL.
01:53COVID hits, and EYBL gets shut down.
01:56So I wasn't able to pick up the offers that I wanted.
01:58And luckily, through my high school football coach and David Morris,
02:03who played for Coach Cutcliffe, who was at Duke,
02:06it was really like a favor Cut was doing for me, throwing me a football offer.
02:09But as soon as he did, I took it and ran with it and then committed to Duke.
02:12So really, you're not this top five recruit for football out of Alabama.
02:19Yes, sir.
02:19But you are a quarterback, and you know Phillip Rivers comes from that same place.
02:23And you know Phillip.
02:24Have you thrown with Rivers and worked out with him?
02:26Yes, sir.
02:26He lives around.
02:27He lives probably three minutes from my house.
02:29So I'm able to get over there and train with him.
02:31I don't think that there's a better person to train with when it comes to fast feet.
02:34You know, his baby five drop.
02:36To see him move in person, I mean, it's really cool for me.
02:39A lot of people say he's got a weird release.
02:41I'll tell you what, it was the quickest release.
02:43There you go.
02:44I mean, you can't see his release sometimes.
02:46That ball comes out of his hands fast and accurate.
02:49Because when I saw you play at Duke, don't I see the same type of delivery at times?
02:54Yes, sir.
02:55Anticipation, quick release.
02:57Don't I see Phillip Rivers right here?
02:59Yes, sir.
02:59Make a note about Rivers, will you?
03:01Yes, sir.
03:01We're going to learn about Rivers today, and we're going to win in the pocket.
03:05You know, I'm watching all these TV copies, and Duke is really your only really big offer.
03:10Is that right?
03:10Yes, sir.
03:11I never took a visit to any school, unofficial or official.
03:14So the first visit I ever took was to Notre Dame when I was in the portal.
03:18But you went to Duke, and it's a hell of a place.
03:21And this guy is a hell of a coach.
03:23Yes, sir.
03:24I coach with Cutcliffe at Tennessee.
03:26He coached Peyton Manning.
03:27He coached Eli Manning.
03:29And I want to know if I called Cutcliffe, and I said, is this guy like Peyton Manning?
03:34Is Riley Leonard like Eli Manning?
03:36What would he tell me?
03:37I think he'd say I'm probably one of the most competitive quarterbacks he's ever been around.
03:41And I think that that relates to a lot of quarterbacks he's coached in the past.
03:44Peyton, Eli, Daniel Jones, all guys who just have a desire to win.
03:49And kind of a whatever-it-takes-to-win type mentality, I think I play with that.
03:52Daniel Jones.
03:53I coached Daniel Jones in the senior bowl.
03:55I think he's the guy, really, to help turn Duke football around.
03:59What's Daniel Jones helped you do preparing for the next level?
04:04I think the biggest thing that he's taught me is how to keep my life extremely simple.
04:07He's very professional about the way that he goes about his work.
04:09And I'll tell you, like, every little detail to him is the most important detail in the world.
04:14Mental toughness.
04:15That's what Daniel Jones has.
04:16Yes, sir.
04:16I mean, you ever played quarterback for the New York Giants?
04:19They had a burn in his jerseys after one of the games.
04:22They're burning his freaking jerseys in the parking lot.
04:25Well, with all due respect, Zach, I can relate to that after week two this year.
04:28Oh, yeah.
04:28We'll get into that.
04:29Notre Dame's a pretty good brand itself.
04:30But you've got to have it, don't you?
04:32Yes, sir.
04:32So your first start at Duke, it's against Virginia Tech.
04:35And this is not good football.
04:37I mean, you guys got your faces planted at Duke, didn't you?
04:41Yes, sir.
04:42We went three and nine.
04:43Just reflect on where you are now as opposed to right here.
04:49Yes, sir.
04:50So, I mean, this is my true freshman year.
04:53You know, it's like 20 degrees, windy.
04:55I don't have a clue what I'm doing.
04:57You know, you don't know what you don't know, though, right?
04:59So I'm walking in there like I'm the man.
05:01You know, I'm starting as a true freshman.
05:03I got this.
05:03We ran out the tunnel.
05:04So I left my mouthpiece in the locker room.
05:06So the whole team's running that way.
05:08I take a U.
05:09We head back to the locker room over a mouthpiece.
05:11I had no clue what I was doing.
05:13First drive of the game, get pushed up out of bounds into the Gatorade cooler.
05:18All the Gatorade falls on me.
05:20You had to rely on your trust that I'm a winner.
05:24Yes, sir.
05:24I'm a competitor.
05:25We're going to fix this shit.
05:26And it's funny to look back at it now.
05:28But, you know, when nobody believes in you, like, you got to believe in yourself.
05:32You get your asses kicked.
05:33Yes, sir.
05:34And then there's a coaching change.
05:36David Cutcliffe's out.
05:37I want to know who the hell this guy is, this Mike Elko guy.
05:40His very first meeting with us, he told us we were going to win now.
05:44And I'll tell you what, that dude wanted the best version of me every single day.
05:47And he put me through some stuff now.
05:49Like, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
05:50Like, he was talking to me every single day.
05:53For example, every team meeting, you know, I'm sitting front row.
05:56He's going to get me one way or another.
05:58He's asking me all these questions.
06:00All right, Riley, we got third and eight.
06:01What do we call him?
06:02What do we call him?
06:03Two timeouts, two minute drill.
06:04You know, we got to drive down the field.
06:05Is this a chunk?
06:06Is this a challenge situation?
06:07Yada, yada, yada.
06:08What would you call?
06:08What would you call?
06:09You know, tell me about analytics, like, in front of the whole team.
06:12And I'm probably 20% right answer.
06:16So I would leave the team eating pissed off, throwing my pen, go to my quarterback,
06:20meeting, you know, all mad and stuff like that.
06:22Because it kind of humiliated me in front of the team.
06:24But that's what I needed.
06:25You know, now I can walk into any room with the answers.
06:28You know what I mean?
06:28I love that.
06:29So thanks to that guy, I'm the player I am now.
06:32Then you get a chance to play against Virginia Tech, didn't you?
06:34Yes, sir.
06:35After they planted you guys.
06:36Wasn't it nice going out there and kicking some of these teams' ass?
06:39Very much so, yeah.
06:40I took every single one of these games personally.
06:42Every team that beat me in the past, I knew I was going to get my redemption.
06:46And honestly, walking into the field here, there was no chance we were losing.
06:49What's with this you suck thing?
06:51You have a wristband that says you suck on it.
06:54Yeah.
06:54Your mom gave you that?
06:56Yes, sir.
06:56Oh, what is that?
06:57In high school, right, I come from a small town.
07:00Everybody would always tell me how good I was all the time.
07:02And I really got tired of it.
07:04You know, I'm a guy, you know, nice guy probably by nature.
07:07But I got some juice to me now.
07:09And I want people to criticize me because it gives me a lot of motivation.
07:12So that's something I encourage you to do today.
07:13Every chance you can, just get after me.
07:15You know, dog me on tape.
07:16I need to get better.
07:17You know, I told that to my mom.
07:19And she was like, dude, I'll tell you, you suck.
07:21So you like to be coached hard.
07:22Yes, sir.
07:23So now let's get to the chase here at Duke.
07:26You guys are 4-0 and you're playing Notre Dame.
07:29Is this a coincidence or what?
07:31I mean, this is weird.
07:32It is.
07:32It's like a movie or something.
07:34Yeah.
07:34You guys have this game.
07:35What is this play you guys ran on the goal line?
07:37It's called chicken, actually.
07:39It's called what?
07:40It's called chicken.
07:41Just a quick little fake here.
07:42Give it to Jordan Moore.
07:43And we knew it was going to work.
07:45We killed our defense on this like 10 times at practice.
07:48You got Notre Dame on the brink.
07:50You're going to go 5-0.
07:51You and Mike Elko beat Clemson, beat Miami.
07:54Now you're going to beat Notre Dame.
07:55You got these guys 4th and 16.
07:58You're standing on the sidelines, right?
08:01Oh, yeah.
08:01I'm, in fact, practicing taking under center snaps to take a knee with my center at this
08:06time right now.
08:06Is this Hartman right here selling out?
08:10Unfortunately, yes, sir.
08:10Then on the next play of the game, this game's over.
08:13And you get hurt on the last play of the game, don't you?
08:15Yes, sir.
08:15I just kind of want to hear about, because everything's good.
08:18Everything's great.
08:19Everything is at this high level of excitement.
08:22And all of a sudden, we lost this game and I'm hurt.
08:25I want to hear about the mental toughness that you had to display during this time right
08:30here.
08:30Tell me about it.
08:31I'll start by saying it sucked.
08:32You know, you go from, you know, thinking you're going to win the game to getting injured
08:35and losing to Notre Dame.
08:37But it's funny because, you know, people say everything happens for a reason.
08:40If that doesn't happen, I'm probably not sitting here with you today.
08:43I'm just curious.
08:44Why would you leave Duke?
08:45Seemed like you had the keys to Durham, man.
08:48Yeah, you could say that.
08:49I actually had another injury there, too.
08:51So I had a left turf toe.
08:53And after I got that surgery in November, you know, I was sitting around and, you know,
08:57just wondering what I was going to do with my career.
08:59I had one year left.
09:00And obviously, I played against Notre Dame and knew that their whole defense was coming
09:05back.
09:05So as soon as I heard that, I was like, all right, they're going to be good.
09:08So I was sitting around and, you know, Elko ended up going to Texas A&M, you know, wanted
09:12to win a national championship and thought Notre Dame was the best place for it.
09:15A lot of pressure on a young guy, too, man.
09:17When you go in a transfer portal, there's no guarantee that the new coordinator, the new
09:22system, the new setting is going to be better than it was at Duke.
09:26Did you feel pressure going through all this stuff?
09:29You know, the transfer portal is tough, even for a quarterback of a big name at the time
09:33to enter in the portal.
09:34It's not easy to go somewhere on, you know, in a wheelchair for really four months.
09:40My first four months at Notre Dame, I was in a wheelchair or crutches, for that matter,
09:44and had three surgeries that offseason.
09:46So it's hard to lead a team and be the hero of a place that you can't even stand up.
09:50I just want to know, what's it like playing for Marcus Freeman?
09:53I can probably give you a million different reasons why I like playing for him.
09:57I'll give you a few examples.
09:59Number one, he knows every janitor's name in the facility.
10:02I remember I was being recruited by him, and I sent him like a three-hour podcast, Tom
10:06Brady podcast.
10:07Three and a half hours later, he had watched the whole thing and was ready to talk about
10:11it.
10:11I mean, he really believes in us.
10:13He believed in me as a quarterback.
10:15What was your degree in?
10:17Do you have a degree?
10:18I mean, you went to Duke and Notre Dame.
10:20All right.
10:20So I went to Duke, and I studied public policy with a minor in markets and management studies,
10:25and I was grinding now.
10:26I had a really high GPA.
10:28And then I went to Notre Dame, and they didn't take many of my credits.
10:32So I'm like, dang.
10:33So I had to play at theater as my major at Notre Dame.
10:35Theater.
10:36So I'm taking theater classes.
10:39I was going to play Richard III.
10:40I played King Henry and Richard III.
10:43I'm doing improv with these guys, acting out 22 Jump Street.
10:46It was a fun little major to be in.
10:50Did Notre Dame recruit you?
10:52Out of high school?
10:53No.
10:54After the season or during the season?
10:57Yes, sir.
10:57After the season.
10:58After I answered the transfer portal.
10:59Yes, sir.
11:00Were they aware of all the information out there?
11:03Like, did they know this was out there?
11:04Oh, my gosh.
11:05Are we serious right now?
11:06Did they know that this was out there?
11:08You guys are crazy, bro.
11:09Notre Dame would recruit you with this video out there?
11:12Look, you got to understand.
11:13No.
11:14What?
11:14Come on.
11:15I say no, like, 98% of the time.
11:19But sometimes – all right, all right.
11:20What the hell are you doing there?
11:23That's a better question.
11:24I'm giving the people what they want, bro.
11:26What is it?
11:27I couldn't tell you.
11:28My Notre Dame receivers taught me how to get jiggy a little bit,
11:31so I'll give the credit to them.
11:32So what kind of quarterback are you?
11:33You're a dual threat guy?
11:35I think I'm a winner, a guy that, you know,
11:38can stand in the pocket and make, you know,
11:40plays in the passing game when I need to,
11:42but I happen to be a really good athlete.
11:43When I watch you, though, I mean, I'm seeing 371 yards on 51 scrambles.
11:48I see 68 rushing first downs.
11:51That's this year at Notre Dame.
11:53You ran for 68 first downs, 550 yards after contact.
11:59I mean, hell, 34 rushing touchdowns you got in your career.
12:03I'm just – what kind of quarterback do you want to be?
12:05I thought I was getting Phillip Rivers in here.
12:07Phillip Rivers ain't doing this.
12:09Whatever you need me to be, legit.
12:11That's good.
12:11That's what I want to hear.
12:12If the second half of Ohio State, how many rushing yards did I have?
12:15Very little.
12:16First drive of the game, you ran at every play.
12:18Right.
12:19That was the game plan, to have a long drive,
12:23use the quarterback and run the ball.
12:24Second half, we're down by a lot.
12:26You need me to stand in the pocket and make plays, I can do it.
12:28I want to know about Den Brock, the offensive coordinator.
12:31He came from LSU to Notre Dame.
12:34Wasn't he coaching Jaden Daniels at LSU when he won the Heisman?
12:37Now, did you have to watch a lot of Jaden Daniels' film
12:39when you were at Notre Dame learning the system?
12:42Yes, it was fun to watch.
12:43What's this play?
12:44Call it for me in the Notre Dame terminology.
12:46So we got double right, top.
12:48That's going to top the back.
12:49We got Y2, and then we're running Seattle Hot here.
12:52So Seattle Hot's just going to be your mid zone
12:55with the tight end to the point of attack.
12:57So you got the backside edge, right?
12:59You got a little 4-2 box here.
13:01Jaden's reading the backside edge.
13:03He's pulling this, and then you're one-on-one with the safety from there.
13:06Okay, now I turn on the Notre Dame film, and you guys did the same thing.
13:09This one's just going to be remixed to Trio Wright, Seattle Hot, but same play.
13:14Same play, and you guys get one yard.
13:16Is Daniels that much better than you, or what?
13:18I don't think so.
13:20I want to talk to you about a trips combination
13:23that I see at Notre Dame almost every game.
13:25I call it Steamer.
13:27Or you got three receivers down here, and you have a hitch down here
13:32at the bottom of the screen, and you got a stick route by the tight end,
13:36and you got a high fade by number two.
13:39So get up on the board and teach me this play out of your trips.
13:42What do you call this three-receiver concept?
13:44Stitch.
13:45Stitch.
13:46Yes, sir.
13:46So it's kind of like a stick, and you got your hitch out here,
13:49so it's going to be at six yards.
13:50That's locked, right?
13:52Five to six.
13:53Hey, got to be locked, right?
13:54You got to be locked if you're going to have this slot release here.
13:57We call it a big box angle route.
13:59He's going in the back pylon, winning versus man.
14:02Check to this a lot versus cover zero throughout the year.
14:05Backside, and then we call it Stitch W. Hitch.
14:08Pretty easy for us.
14:10He's got the hitch at six yards.
14:12Let's kind of rip through this Notre Dame season, can we?
14:14Yes, sir.
14:15And just real quick, coming out of the tunnel, your first game with the Fighting Irish,
14:19you're going up against your old coach, right?
14:22Elko?
14:22Oh, yeah.
14:23Did he talk to you in pregame warm-up, like come up to you and say,
14:25hey, we're going to kick your ass?
14:27We were texting all off-season.
14:28You know, I was chirping him a little bit.
14:30But not only him, that whole coaching staff came from Duke.
14:33So I was in there talking to all those boys, talking some trash.
14:36So you wanted this one pretty bad, didn't you?
14:37I'll tell you what, I told him, if we go 1-11 and I beat you, I'll be good with it.
14:42But what's your message to Coach Elko right there?
14:45That had to be a great moment for you.
14:48Once again, like me and Elko have a really cool relationship because, you know,
14:51we're just so honest to each other.
14:52And we like to chirp each other a little bit.
14:54So this is just one of those, hey, Coach, chin up.
14:56You got a good team.
14:57You guys play hard.
14:58I want to know about this.
15:00This is not a good day in South Bend.
15:02And then when we miss that field goal late in the game,
15:05this is one of the greatest upsets in the history of Northern Illinois or college football.
15:11Oh, yeah.
15:11And I want to know what you're like in adversity.
15:15I want to know this, Riley Leonard.
15:16You know, it's really tough.
15:17And I learned a lot.
15:19And I kind of have a different answer every time I kind of revisit that game.
15:22But dang, did I learn so much.
15:23And it's the best thing that ever happened for me because I was a guy who probably walked
15:27into this game first time ever playing at Notre Dame Stadium.
15:30And I'm thinking, you know, I got to put on a show for these people.
15:34You know, I got to play really good for these fans.
15:36I got to play good for him and him and him and him and him.
15:38And everybody that doesn't matter, you know, I was worried about playing good for.
15:43And then the rest of the season, it was kind of just everybody in that facility versus the
15:47world.
15:48You know, one thing I did was surround myself with people who had been in my shoes before.
15:52I call Sam Hartman up.
15:53I go out to eat with Tyler Buckner, who was a quarterback at Notre Dame, transferred to
15:57Alabama, went through some adversity himself.
15:59I'm meeting with Marcus Freeman.
16:00Mind you, I'm going into Marcus Freeman's office on Sunday after the game, scared to
16:04death.
16:05I'm like, all right, you know, he's going to tell me the worst of the worst, right?
16:09You're done.
16:10And I walk in there.
16:11He's got his feet up, throws me some candy.
16:13What's up, Rye?
16:14Cool as a cucumber.
16:16And that was the best thing that could have happened for me.
16:18That's all you can do in those kind of times, man.
16:21You know, because the clock keeps ticking and the schedule goes on, right?
16:25You get your ass kicked at home.
16:27I lost my first game.
16:28I got traded to Tampa Bay.
16:30They traded me to the Buccaneers.
16:32I come down here.
16:32I'm supposed to be this great coach.
16:34We played the New Orleans Saints in my first game.
16:36They kick us right in the nuts, man.
16:39I walk out to the car and one of the defensive coach's wife said, we traded a first round draft
16:45choice for you?
16:47God dang.
16:48We won the Super Bowl, though.
16:50You guys won 13 straight freaking games.
16:52That's right.
16:53When I saw you guys play against Louisville, this is the first time I really felt I saw
16:58you guys coming together with all that balance.
17:02You know, the ball distribution, the passing game, the running game.
17:05What was it about the Louisville week or this point in the season that everything started
17:10clicking?
17:11I think it's me just not caring.
17:13The moment I stop trying to appease people and, you know, pleases the wrong people are
17:18the moments I play really good.
17:20Just letting it fly.
17:22You know, screw it.
17:22I've already hit the worst of the worst.
17:24What can happen now?
17:25Real quick as we wind down Notre Dame's season here.
17:28Is the Notre Dame-USC game still as big as it used to be?
17:31As far as I'm concerned, yes, sir.
17:32This is where I really started feeling this Riley Leonard is really something, man.
17:38I mean, this guy, he's beating USC with his legs.
17:41And you're running, man.
17:41What can you run?
17:42What are you going to run it?
17:43What are you going to run?
17:45How fast are you?
17:46Fast enough.
17:47How fast are you?
17:48Hell, how fast do you think you are?
17:50You and Freeman, you know you're going to the playoffs, don't you?
17:52Yes, sir.
17:53Absolutely, yeah.
17:54I mean, that's got to be like a big relief in some ways, isn't it?
17:58Tell you what.
17:59Yes, sir.
17:59You get ready for Indiana.
18:01It was a cold-ass night out there, too, wasn't it?
18:04Was it cold?
18:05Yeah, but our guys love it.
18:06And, like, I guess I loved it, too.
18:08Kind of have to.
18:09What was this play?
18:10I got to know what the hell this was.
18:11This would have been True or Right Bunch, Gary Cold Pop.
18:15These throws right here, some of the hardest in the game.
18:18Especially cold night, right?
18:20Can't hardly feel the ball.
18:22Guys, like, has he been taking acting classes there?
18:25He's actually in my acting class.
18:27He acted out.
18:28He acted out.
18:3022 jump shooting.
18:30I don't know this.
18:31Now you're going to Penn State.
18:32You know what I love about you, man?
18:33You are one tough guy, man.
18:35I mean, you are a tough son of a bitch, mentally and physically, aren't you?
18:39I mean, how can you not be?
18:40It's my thing.
18:41You come out of this game, man.
18:43I'm sitting there in a hotel watching the game.
18:44They brought your backup in right before the half, right?
18:46How'd you get back in this game?
18:47You know, I went to the tent, went 15 for 15 on all the tests,
18:53and went back in the game.
18:55I love this play.
18:56I call it the truck driver.
18:57Make a note of the truck driver.
18:59Truck driver.
18:59When you're going an empty backfield set, you with me?
19:03Yes, sir.
19:03Whether we motion empty or line up empty,
19:05if they ever put a linebacker out there,
19:09we called that guy a truck driver.
19:11So our running backs would line up there and go,
19:13hey, I got a truck driver.
19:15You recognize man.
19:16You see that truck driver going out there?
19:17Yeah, clear as day.
19:18So you recognize it.
19:20Did you communicate this with an audible,
19:22or did you have a play designed to go shred that guy?
19:24So it was kind of more man zone here.
19:27So if we knew 41 was going to go out there,
19:30I'm throwing this ball.
19:32Freaking awesome in the biggest moment in Notre Dame's season.
19:36This is phenomenal what you did here.
19:39You're peeking the guy, right?
19:40Yeah.
19:41The corner falls down.
19:42You probably walked off the field and go,
19:44holy shit, I can't believe that happened.
19:45Oh, dude.
19:47Literally, the ball released from my hand,
19:49and I'm saying thank you, Jesus, right now.
19:51That's the greatest thing I've ever seen.
19:53You guys are going to go play through a national title.
19:56Yeah.
19:56Going into this game, for me,
19:59I don't know if I appreciated being there
20:01because I expected to be there.
20:04As soon as I transferred to Notre Dame,
20:06anything short of that wasn't the expectation.
20:08So I got there, and I was like, of course I got.
20:11Not to sound like I'm bragging, but of course we did.
20:14That was the mission the entire time.
20:16So I got to ask you, your first Super Bowl,
20:18did you feel that way?
20:19I felt like you felt that it's almost a burden off your shoulders.
20:25Like, we have to do this.
20:26Right.
20:27You have to be here, or it's a failure.
20:29What was the deal with the game plan, though?
20:31I mean, the opening drive, you carried the ball about eight times.
20:34So we knew they were going to be a good coverage team,
20:37so we were going to have to take advantage of them in the box.
20:39Create that extra hat with our running back
20:41and run the quarterback a little bit.
20:42I said, sign me up.
20:43It's the last game anyway.
20:44Screw it.
20:44You're down 31-7.
20:46Whew.
20:47What was the mindset?
20:47What was going on on the sidelines, you and Coach Denbrock, Coach Freeman?
20:51Let it fly.
20:52Pick up the tempo?
20:53Let it fly.
20:54Just a quick summary on your Notre Dame experience.
20:58What I think is just growth.
21:00Growth, not only for me, but the entire team, the program.
21:04Everybody just got better.
21:05And Freeman would always tell us, there is no goal other than to reach our full potential.
21:10And making it to the national championship, our full potential was to win the game,
21:14and we could have done that.
21:16But I don't have any regret.
21:17I think it was the best decision I've ever made.
21:18I want you to think about what I see.
21:20I see a guy that's a freaking winner, man.
21:22You won at Duke.
21:23He turned around Duke.
21:24You won at Notre Dame.
21:26You turned around Notre Dame after losing to Northern Illinois.
21:28And you learned two systems, really three systems, in three years.
21:32Yes, sir.
21:33Which is exciting.
21:34Now I'm going to teach you some new stuff and try to reprogram you.
21:37Come on.
21:38Real quick, just stand up.
21:39Give me your snap count at Notre Dame.
21:42Come on.
21:45Man, what do you do if the defense comes out there and starts doing this?
21:48So I like to communicate with the refs before every game, right?
21:51If you're just going on the clap and there's no indicator, I make sure the refs know every game.
21:54So actually, this game, I told the refs that, and one of the players did it right here.
21:59Boom.
21:59Threw the flag for me.
22:00Navy got a penalty because they were clapping?
22:03Yes, sir.
22:03Very illegal.
22:04What are you doing here?
22:06So Duke was a little different.
22:08Girl names were on one.
22:10Boy names were on two.
22:12Girl names also meant to the right.
22:14Boy names meant to the left.
22:15So I'm here, right?
22:16Nothing matters.
22:17Nothing matters.
22:18Nothing matters.
22:19If I say, Ben, Ben, go.
22:22It's coming.
22:23I can be here, right?
22:24Say, I say, Amy.
22:27Amy, Amy, go.
22:29First one.
22:30You got to be kidding me.
22:31Legit.
22:32This is the greatest story I've ever heard in my life.
22:34Yes, sir.
22:35Today, we're going to put our snap count in, and it's not going to be this.
22:39So it's going to be set hut.
22:42Set hut is one word, two syllables.
22:44Set hut.
22:45Then it's going to be color number, color number.
22:47And then it's set hut again.
22:49Set hut.
22:49Blue 85.
22:51Blue 85.
22:53Set hut.
22:53I want a six-foot-four captain from Duke, captain from Notre Dame.
22:59I want a stud.
23:00Now, stand up.
23:00Let me hear my count.
23:01I'm one.
23:02Set hut.
23:04Green 18.
23:06Green 18.
23:07Set hut.
23:07Perfect.
23:08Have a seat.
23:08Perfect.
23:09That's perfect.
23:09You sound like Aaron Rodgers.
23:11Now, when I go on a hard two, I make a big deal in the huddle.
23:14Or we say Tuesday.
23:16Set hut.
23:17Blue 85.
23:19Blue 85.
23:21Set hut.
23:21Hut.
23:22A little voice inflection.
23:23You feel me?
23:24Yes, sir.
23:25I want some voice inflection.
23:27It's like, hey, how you doing there?
23:28How you doing?
23:28I want to feel it.
23:30Set hut.
23:32Green 18.
23:34Green 18 is hut.
23:35Hut.
23:35Good.
23:36Now, make a note about Silva Silva.
23:38Al Davis was from Brooklyn, New York.
23:41He talked like this.
23:42The Silva and black are going to kick your ass.
23:46The Silva and black are coming.
23:47So let's just say we're audibling.
23:49Let's say, set hut.
23:50Hey, blue 85.
23:52No, no, no, no, no.
23:53Hey, let's go 358 cannon.
23:55358 cannon.
23:57Silva.
23:58Silva, set hut.
23:59Then make a note of dummy counts.
24:01And when we use a dummy count, we use dummy words.
24:05Let's go.
24:06Albert Einstein.
24:07Albert Einstein.
24:09Set hut.
24:09Blue 85.
24:11Blue 85.
24:12Set hut.
24:12We got code words in our offense to go right or left.
24:16And we're going to use cities.
24:18So if I say Boston, where am I running the ball?
24:22To the right or the left?
24:23Oh, to the right.
24:24New York.
24:24Yeah, to the right.
24:25Let's just say it's week four.
24:27Some guys got our TV copy and he's on to us.
24:30Of course.
24:30We started using right-handed guys.
24:32Okay, cool.
24:33We use Joe Montana.
24:34Where are we going?
24:35To the right.
24:36If we go Steve Young, where am I going?
24:37To the left.
24:37All right.
24:38I might put you in a huddle a little bit today.
24:40Have you been in a huddle much?
24:42No, sir.
24:43Well, hell's bells.
24:45You just can't go like this.
24:47And you're going to go to the camp, an NFL training camp.
24:50And some of these rookie quarterbacks, they get in a huddle.
24:53And they're like, oh, God.
24:55No, no.
24:55Not you.
24:56You're from Duke and Notre Dame.
24:59You're a winner.
25:00You're mentally tough.
25:01I'm going in there prepared.
25:02I'm going to knock their socks off.
25:04That's how it's going to be.
25:05So let's reach our true what?
25:06True potential.
25:07Let's reach our true potential.
25:09And your true potential, okay, is this right here.
25:13That is freaking awesome.
25:15Anytime we go, Freddie, Freddie, Freddie, you're my quarterback.
25:18You put both your fists together.
25:20We named it after Fred Bolitnikoff.
25:22He was a Hall of Fame receiver.
25:23Freddie, Freddie, Freddie.
25:24That tells everybody we're going fast.
25:26You got me?
25:27And I want to run Wanda, Muscle, or Rock Lava Hammer.
25:31Those are your three plays you're going to get to pick.
25:33I want to run Wanda against the Premier.
25:36Look, you with me?
25:37Yes, sir.
25:37I want a three-man surface over there.
25:39You see it?
25:40Yes, sir.
25:40I want to run Wanda.
25:42Now, how do I run left?
25:44You run left by Mickelson, West Coast terminologies.
25:48So I want you to pick one city, one left-handed person.
25:51I'm going to go Phil.
25:52Phil Mickelson, Los Angeles.
25:55Now, Wanda is a girl's name.
25:58So we told our players, hey, come up with a beautiful woman.
26:01Wanda this week is going to be whoever your beautiful lady is.
26:05Molly Wadding.
26:06I'm going to call her Molly.
26:06You've got to be a well-known beautiful lady that we all know is beautiful.
26:10Everybody knows my girlfriend is beautiful.
26:12Well, nobody knows your girlfriend.
26:14All right.
26:15Okay, user.
26:16Yeah.
26:16My son is Deuce Gruden.
26:19I've heard about him.
26:20He's a strength coach.
26:20The Raiders.
26:21For the Raiders.
26:21He just won the bench press contest.
26:23He's going to Norway.
26:25So you say, hey, Deuce Gruden, Los Angeles.
26:28What's the play?
26:30Strong side run to the left.
26:31Who's the strength coach at Notre Dame?
26:34Lauren Landau.
26:34Hey, Lauren Landau.
26:36All right.
26:37Los Angeles.
26:38Lauren Landau, Tiger Woods.
26:40I like it.
26:40Or we're going left.
26:41It'd be Phil Mickels.
26:42Yeah, right.
26:42If we line up in trips or motion to trips, I might tell you I'm going to start with lava,
26:50which the tight end's on the left.
26:52Okay.
26:53Rock, the tight end is on the right.
26:55You with me?
26:55Yeah.
26:56It's a max protection.
26:58The back is blocking toward the tight end.
27:00It's a seven-man protection.
27:02The line is sliding.
27:03You with me?
27:03Okay.
27:04I might say, hey, hey, Riley, let's go dice left, flash.
27:07Use the dummy count.
27:08Look for the hitches.
27:09So you go, hey, hey, dice left, flash, Bill Gates, blue to five, blue to five.
27:13Let's go lava three, hammer.
27:15And the guys are running hitches.
27:17You with me?
27:17So question.
27:19Flash.
27:19All right.
27:20He's getting set.
27:20If you said F left, he's staying in motion.
27:23Put up dice right up there real quick.
27:25I can't get up because I got this freaking cord up my ass.
27:28Put the slot on the left.
27:29That's the F.
27:30That's the X.
27:31That's the flash right there.
27:32Hey, Freddie, dice right, flash.
27:34That means the F is going to go in motion and reload.
27:37Right.
27:37If we use the word flash.
27:38Got it.
27:39Let me hear you feel it.
27:40Hey, hey, hey, Riley, let's go dice right, flash.
27:42Use a dummy and run the ball.
27:44Run the ball.
27:45Hey, seven.
27:45Here we go.
27:47It's hot.
27:49Green 18.
27:51Crazy hot.
27:51Hot.
27:52Hey, Cindy L.A.
27:53Cindy L.A.
27:53Cindy L.A.
27:54Green 18.
27:57Crazy hot.
27:58You're going to be fucking exhausted when you come off that field.
28:01You're going to be like, God, man, that was wild.
28:03You're going to love it.
28:04Yes, sir.
28:04All right.
28:04But we got to take advantage of the time that we have.
28:07You see, one thing I noticed at Notre Dame is you had some batted balls.
28:12Batted balls are a big what?
28:14Problem.
28:14Yes, sir.
28:14And I'm seeing more and more interceptions now on batted balls than I've ever seen before.
28:20But I just want you to really be conscious of different arm angles, sense and passing lanes.
28:26This touchdown pass against Central Florida, that's a great job through the trees.
28:30You see that?
28:31Yes, sir.
28:31I mean, that's awesome.
28:33But we got to have drills like this.
28:35Yes, sir.
28:36Okay?
28:36Because we don't want any more batted down what?
28:39Balls.
28:40God, I hate seeing these fans.
28:42Like, look at them.
28:42Oh, look at that batted ball, man.
28:44Look at that batted ball.
28:46Does it piss you off?
28:47Yes, sir.
28:47Makes you sick, doesn't it?
28:48Yes.
28:49Peyton Manning used to look up, I'm convinced, our starting secondary, their wives' names.
28:56He'd be like, Tanisha, Tanisha Smith.
29:00Guys are like, hey, man, that's my wife.
29:03You got to play the game with these guys because they're professionally stealing your signals.
29:08Right.
29:08And stealing your communication.
29:10And that's what I want you to do to them.
29:12Okay.
29:12This formation is called bunch.
29:15You with me?
29:16Bunch right.
29:17The three receivers go to the right.
29:18The Y is off.
29:19The F is on.
29:20And the Z is outside.
29:21If you ever want the X to come in tight, I want you to say bunch right tight.
29:24Okay.
29:25If you ever say Linda.
29:28Yep.
29:28We're running 99 Wanda.
29:30Hey, Freddie, bunch right tight.
29:32Linda, Linda.
29:34Silva, Silva, sit up.
29:35We're gone.
29:36All right.
29:36If I ever say Rita, what do you think Rita is?
29:39Same thing as Linda to the right.
29:40Hey, bunch left tight.
29:41Rita, Rita, Rita.
29:42Silva, Silva.
29:43Sit up.
29:44I want you to tell these guys, hey, we're going.
29:45We're going.
29:46We're going.
29:46We're going.
29:47We're going.
29:47Bunch left tight.
29:48Bunch left tight.
29:48Rita, Rita, Rita.
29:49Sit up.
29:50We're changing speeds.
29:51That's what drives these coaches crazy on defense.
29:54And that's our number one mission.
29:55To drive them all freaking nuts.
29:57I love it.
29:58We slow it down.
29:59We pick a play.
30:00Wanda, muscle, or rock hammer.
30:03Got it.
30:03You got me?
30:03Now we're going fast.
30:05Now we're slowing it down again.
30:06All right.
30:07This is pro football.
30:10What if I say Linda Zorro?
30:12We're running a boot.
30:13Now, make a note.
30:15LaMonica and Rich Gannon.
30:18Rich Gannon's probably going to the right.
30:20LaMonica's probably going to the left.
30:21Yes?
30:22Yes, sir.
30:23Okay.
30:23If I said bunch left, bunch left, it's not LaMonica.
30:27It's Rich Gannon.
30:28I don't want to just line up in bunch, right?
30:31I want to give you some indicators so you can see if it's man or zone.
30:36So if I say, hey, Freddie, bunch right, shorty, the Y comes in short motion to create bunch.
30:43Yeah.
30:44You like that?
30:44Yes, sir.
30:45Hey, Freddie, bunch right, shorty, Bill Gates.
30:48You got me?
30:49You're using a dummy count.
30:51Does that make sense?
30:52Lab and rat is for the running back.
30:54If I ever tell the running back, lab, lab, lab, which way is he going?
30:58To the left.
30:58He goes all the way out there to the left off the ball.
31:01Okay.
31:01If you say rat, where does he go?
31:03All the way to the right.
31:04Here's 77, Speedo.
31:06You with me?
31:07Yes, sir.
31:08If you go bunch right, shorty, and you're using a dummy count, and you know it's man to man.
31:14Right.
31:14I want to go to 76, Speedo.
31:17Huh?
31:18Speedo puts the point man on a red line fade.
31:21You see it?
31:22He's bolting to the red line.
31:24Then we got a mesh concept, and the tight end has a basic cross.
31:28All right.
31:28If we know it's three deep zone, we're going to get the 76 special, which is all go special.
31:35Okay.
31:36We got the special seam.
31:37We got a numbers seam, and we got go balls on the outside.
31:41And the back is going to run a burst for us.
31:44I want to run the special seam, number one.
31:47There's number two, and the back is number three.
31:50You got me?
31:50Yes, sir.
31:51One, two, three.
31:52Check this out.
31:53If we're in a bunch formation, and we get a split safety coverage, I don't know if it's
31:57Tampa two, quarters, we're going to 83, the back free release is left, 82, the back free
32:04release is right.
32:05You with me?
32:06Yes, sir.
32:0783 choice.
32:08That's all you need to say.
32:09And I really am telling this back, you sit down about four yards deep, face the quarterback,
32:15or you could break out, or you could break in if it's four coverage.
32:19Yes, sir.
32:20You with me?
32:21And I want to set up three and a hitch and throw them the ball every time.
32:23Yes, sir.
32:24Okay?
32:24If you get fooled, and they rotate that way on the snap, we have a basic arrow combination
32:30on the back, spot seven concept on the backside.
32:34Yep.
32:34You with me?
32:34Yep.
32:35And if we get blitzed, you feel a shit show coming, let's get to 358.
32:40And instead of calling it 358, let's just keep calling it rock.
32:44It's all, like you said, rock hammer, rock hammer a minute ago.
32:47Right.
32:48Hey, rock, rock, rock, rock.
32:50And it's cannon.
32:51Or lava, lava, lava, lava.
32:53Cannon.
32:53That's the route.
32:54And our route that I want against blitz is what we call sluggo seam.
32:58The number one guy is running a slant and go.
33:01And if he shreds that corner, I want to throw it.
33:03You with me?
33:03Yes, sir.
33:04If he doesn't shred them, I want you to pump the sluggo, move that three deep safety, and
33:10throw the seam.
33:11You got me?
33:11Yes, sir.
33:12And if you don't like the seam, you'll have somebody sitting down on a sideline, four yards
33:16deep, three yards from the sideline.
33:17Okay.
33:18Last couple things.
33:19We want to be in distinct rhythm.
33:22Distinct rhythm.
33:23There's a big difference between being in rhythm and being in distinct rhythm.
33:28You got me?
33:29I don't want any static in the radio when it comes to your footwork.
33:33When you're in rhythm, watch this.
33:35You feel that three-step, one-hitch delivery?
33:38Yes, sir.
33:38That's distinct rhythm.
33:40Yeah.
33:40Watch this right here.
33:41Watch this rhythm.
33:42You feel that three-step, one-hitch delivery?
33:44Yeah.
33:44You can say you're pissed off and you're playing with an attitude and all that.
33:48You're in what kind of rhythm right here?
33:50Distinct rhythm.
33:51And when you're in distinct rhythm, I'm telling you, look at me.
33:54You can be Phillip Rivers.
33:55Sir.
33:56But when you're not, you could be Johnny Rivers singing at some strip bar down in Tampa.
34:01You know what I'm saying?
34:01You're right about that.
34:01Yes, sir.
34:02Now, when we get in the gun today, I want to start looking at some bigger three-step,
34:07one-hitch deliveries, or I want to go some quick fives.
34:10Okay.
34:10Okay?
34:11But I do want to ask you, how does it feel?
34:14And I want you to ask yourself, how does it feel?
34:16So let's negotiate the footwork on these three-level throws.
34:20Okay.
34:20We got sails and deep crosses.
34:23You love both concepts, right?
34:25Yes, sir.
34:25So on a deep cross, this is just a great example.
34:28You're playing Virginia Tech.
34:30Watch your footwork.
34:31That's five and a hitch.
34:33Look how you really could manipulate the defense and read the coverage.
34:37Right.
34:37I'm sitting back there, and I got time to see everything.
34:40And you're deeper, right?
34:41Yes, sir.
34:41Now, take a look at this one here against Ohio State.
34:44You went three, didn't you?
34:46Yeah.
34:46And it is a deep cross, right?
34:48Yes, sir.
34:48Watch what happens to you.
34:50Sometimes this much, that much, can help you finish a throw.
34:54Point is, I've seen you take three and take five, and I'm feeling static in your feet.
35:00I'm not quite sure you know what you really want to do on some of these setups.
35:04I agree.
35:04And everybody's like, oh, there's Riley Leonard.
35:06Let's mark him down.
35:07Let's put him in the fourth round.
35:08Let's put him down in the sixth round.
35:09He's scouting.
35:09You're like, oh, he can't throw.
35:11Well, it's all static in your feet.
35:13Right.
35:13When you're in distinct rhythm, it's over.
35:15Yes, sir.
35:16It's a freaking Terminator.
35:18Make a note about stingers, strong safety blitzes, cats or corner blitzes, nails or nickel blitzes.
35:24Bang R and bang L.
35:27That's the word we use against the nails and the stingers.
35:30Okay.
35:31So what could you have done right here if you got a stinger call?
35:33Seriously.
35:34Make the bang left call.
35:36Well, you don't make the bang L.
35:37Call both.
35:38There it goes.
35:38You love this tape or what?
35:40I hate this tape.
35:41Every single play is a research project.
35:44And I don't trust these guys.
35:45We're always accumulating what?
35:49Accumulating knowledge.
35:50Knowledge.
35:50So let's go out there.
35:52We'll have some communication.
35:54We'll run some no huddle.
35:55We'll get in some freddies.
35:56We'll get into bunch formation.
35:58We'll have some fun.
35:59Did you have any fun today?
36:00I had a lot of fun.
36:01Appreciate it.
36:01I got like 700 more plays I could sit here and watch.
36:04Nothing wrong with that.
36:15Riley Leonard is a dual threat.
36:17He's a guy that ran the ball a lot at Notre Dame.
36:20I want to see this guy win in the pocket.
36:22I want to see him make a lot of different kinds of throws today and see how quick that
36:26release is.
36:27It's one thing to watch these guys throw on film, but it's another thing to see him throw
36:31it live.
36:32I think a couple of these drills are really going to help these guys get better.
36:37And if they can get 1% better, man, it makes me feel nice.
36:47Pluck it and tuck it, man.
37:11Pluck it and tuck it.
37:12We're getting loose.
37:16There it is.
37:17One foot in front of the numbers.
37:19Pluck it and tuck it, will you?
37:23Exaggerate it.
37:23Wait on a quarterback.
37:25That's what I want right there.
37:26So this is just a pat and go is all it is.
37:29I want an outside release.
37:31Outside release.
37:32Stay vertical.
37:33Stay tight.
37:34He's going to throw the ball toward the sideline.
37:36You've got to make a stretch catch.
37:37This is a red line.
37:38This is rock two hammer against press.
37:41Nice and easy.
37:44Take a three-step drop and look off the free safety.
37:48You're getting something out of this, Leonard, whether you agree or not.
37:51Look off the free safety.
37:53Good.
37:55We've got to take advantage of the time we have together.
37:58Love it.
37:59Very nice.
38:00One more time.
38:01Look off the free safety.
38:02Exaggerate it.
38:04Beautiful.
38:05Beautiful.
38:05Let's throw a little back shoulder.
38:07That corner, he realizes, I've got to stay on top.
38:13Good.
38:15Love that.
38:16Love it.
38:20Really nice.
38:21Really nice.
38:26Excellent.
38:26Excellent.
38:27How do you feel?
38:28I feel great.
38:29Rock, rock, rock, hammer.
38:30Rock, hammer, rock, hammer.
38:31Rock, hammer, rock, hammer.
38:33Sylvan.
38:34Nice.
38:35Good.
38:37Sylvan.
38:38Sylvan.
38:38Nice.
38:39There it is.

38:42Sylvan.
38:43Nice.
38:44Sylvan.
38:45Sylvan.
38:47Very nice.
38:48Love that.
38:49Love that.
38:50Great location, Riley.
38:51Sylvan.
38:53Sylvan.
38:54Love that.
38:56Love it.
38:57Sylvan.
38:58Sylvan.
38:58Sylvan.
38:58Good.
38:59Don't rush it.
39:01Be distinct with those feet.
39:02One, two, three.
39:04Bang on that outside foot.
39:06Sylvan.
39:06Sylvan.
39:07There it is.
39:08Very nice.
39:09Very nice.
39:10I'd like to just work on a little ball placement here.
39:13Yes, sir.
39:13I would like some distinct rhythm.
39:15Get your depth.
39:16Sylvan.
39:17Sylvan.
39:18Sylvan.
39:19Sylvan.
39:19I love that.
39:21You feel it?
39:22Sylvan.
39:24Good.
39:25That's the timing.
39:26I love that timing.
39:29Very nice.
39:30Sylvan.
39:31Sylvan.
39:34Very good.
39:35Love it.
39:35One more time.
39:36You feel it?
39:37I feel it.
39:38I love it.
39:38I love yards after the catch.
39:40And location sometimes is the winning edge.
39:42Sylvan.
39:43Sylvan.
39:47Very good.
39:47Good, good, good.
39:48This next one is a deep cross.
39:50I know this drives Leonard crazy because he doesn't know if I'm going three or five.
39:55He doesn't know if he's hit you two or three or one time.
39:57All over the place.
39:57Let's fix it, though.
39:58And we're going to work on that beautiful, buttery five, quick fill of rivers drop.
40:02Let's just say we got trips right.
40:0476 F deep cross.
40:06Sylvan.
40:07Sylvan.
40:12I fucking love that.
40:13How'd that feel?
40:14Good.
40:15Baby five.
40:15Good timing.
40:16One quick hitch.
40:16That's the secret sauce right there.
40:18Good snap.
40:18Sylvan.
40:23That's fucking nice.
40:24That's money.
40:24Let's get a little play action now.
40:26Get under the center.
40:27Come on.
40:28This is H2.
40:29Half back at two.
40:30Go seven.
40:30I'm going to check down right over the ball.
40:32It's H2 wide deep cross.
40:33Sylvan.
40:34Let's do it.
40:40Did you feel your feet?
40:42Did you feel distinctly in rhythm?
40:43Yes, sir.
40:44When you are, you're a difference maker.
40:45Yes, sir.
40:46I mean, that's freaking awesome, man.
40:48I want you to look that free safety off and hit that seam.
40:51I want you to look them off that way.
40:52Hit the other seam.
40:53Yes, sir.
40:53Sylvan.
40:54It's hot.
40:57Very nice.
40:59Really good.
41:00Have some fun with it now.
41:01Get back there.
41:02Read the quarterback.
41:03Read his eyes.
41:04Pick me off, brother.
41:05Sylvan.
41:06It's hot.
41:10Good.
41:11I want you to intercept this pass or bat this ball down.
41:13I'll buy you a new steak dinner.
41:15Okay, here we go.
41:16This is a key drill.
41:17I'll match it.
41:18I'll match it.
41:18Here we go.
41:18Sylvan.
41:19It's hot.
41:22Wow, you made it easy.
41:23Way too easy on me.
41:25Good.
41:25Sylvan.
41:26It's hot.
41:28That's a good rep right there.
41:30That's an excellent rep right there.
41:32Predictable.
41:32Excellent.
41:33Sylvan.
41:34It's hot.
41:34Good rep right there.
41:39Hey.
41:40Huh?
41:40That was a good rep.
41:41Sylvan.
41:41It's hot.
41:45That's excellent, Riley.
41:46That's good.
41:47I think the thing that I'm taking away most from this is, like, I know where my guys are
41:50going to be.
41:51Stop looking at my guys and their routes.
41:53Yeah.
41:53Let's key these defenders and just make easy reads off them.
41:56You know what I mean?
41:56Now we're talking.
41:57Let's get it.
41:57We got Leonard Fournette here.
41:58Let's give Leonard three claps.
41:59So let's go Bunch Right.
42:03I want to run Doberman New York, which is 92 duo.

45:29Quit getting in the gun.
45:30Bad habit.

46:02tip ball that's picked off.

47:28You got it.
47:28What surprises me about Leonard is just the boom when he walks in the room.
47:33I mean, he's all positive, a lot of energy, fun to be around.
47:37He's going to be a sponge.
47:38He's going to be a quick study.
47:39But his passion for the game might be unmatched.
47:42He rivals me.
47:43I love football.
47:44This guy really loves it.
47:45He's upbeat, positive, quick learner, great person.
47:49And he is going to grind with the best of them.
