00:00Well, there's no doubt that there's anger there, and people were very, very disappointed
00:06in the Senate for not voting no on the continuing resolution without any concession, without
00:14getting a concession to keep Social Security offices open, without getting a concession
00:19to stop firing veterans, without getting a concession to continue Department of Education
00:23funding.
00:24Are there going to be challenges across the country?
00:27Absolutely.
00:28Is it going to be a tea party?
00:29No, because the tea party wanted to basically destroy the government, tear down the government.
00:35Many Democrats, there's anger, but there's also aspiration.
00:38We want to build things like Medicare for all, like a living wage, and a lot of other
00:43policies.
00:44So you're going to see a new generation come in with a compelling economic message.
00:48But then, first of all, in America, leaders aren't supposed to hide from people.
00:53You're supposed to show up and take questions.
00:55And you're right.
00:56There is anger mostly at the cuts on Medicaid and veterans being fired, but there also is
01:02anger at Democrats.
01:04In fact, in one of the town halls, people were upset that we weren't doing enough to
01:09protect these cuts.
01:12And the main thing is that I'm going so that the representatives from these districts actually
01:16show up and take tough questions.
01:18That's the heartbeat of democracy.
01:20And I also hope that our leaders are going to fight harder next time that there is a
01:25budget showdown to make sure that they get some concessions and stop these cuts.
