00:00So we've spent some time talking about former President Trump, President Biden, and of course
00:04we want to look towards the future and get into Vice President Kamala Harris and her
00:07campaign.
00:09But before we get into her and her record, I do want to ask you about how she got to
00:13be the presumptive nominee.
00:15What do you say to concerns about whether it's democratic of how a person who got no
00:20votes in the primary and is not yet, was not yet the duly nominated vice presidential nominee
00:26for 2024 is now the nominee for president?
00:29Well, of course it was democratic.
00:31Anyone could have run.
00:32And people made that clear.
00:33She just got all the support, all the people who were going to run against her endorsed
00:37her on Sunday.
00:38And that shows that she ran a very adept campaign to win the support and unify the party.
00:44But there was no one who handed her the nomination.
00:48Anyone was allowed to challenge her and could have challenged her.
00:52Well, that being said, what is your reaction to her campaign, Vice President Kamala Harris
00:56launching her campaign?
00:57And as someone also from California, I'm curious about your relationship with her and whether
01:02she's the best candidate to be former President Donald Trump.
01:05Well, she's had so much energy and excitement.
01:07It doesn't come as a surprise to me.
01:09I've always known that she inspires young people, that she inspires communities of color,
01:15that she inspires women, that she inspires large people who care about social justice.
01:23And so we're seeing that now around the country.
01:26And I've known her for almost 20 years.
01:28I've always respected her as a trailblazer.
01:30I've respected her as overcoming the obstacles and winning races that no one thought she
01:35could win.
01:36And I expect her to win this time.
01:39What would you say as vice president is her biggest accomplishment?
01:42I think standing up for abortion rights, for reproductive rights.
01:46She's been our strongest voice on that issue and with great moral clarity that freedom
01:51is at stake, that we don't want to go backwards for women's rights.
01:56She's also been very, very strong on voting rights and on gun violence.
02:00And those are areas that I think she's so passionate about and gives great clarity to.
