00:00Preventing pathologies and guaranteeing mental well-being is the goal that the Italian Neurology Society at the One Brain, One Health convention,
00:13organized on the occasion of the World Brain Week 2025, presented to the Ministry of Health in Rome a decalogue to respond 360 degrees to the crucial challenge of brain health.
00:25At the meeting, the point on the Italian Brain Health Strategy 2024-2031 was also made and the Italian Brain Health Alliance was launched,
00:36an organization structured by One Brain, One Health and Italian Brain Health Strategy.
00:42The decalogue serves to inform people that preventing brain diseases and preserving brain health can be done and can be done through attention to lifestyles, but not only.
00:57We believe that it is now that citizenship, citizens, activate a series of attentions in terms of proactive medicine, also from a physical point of view.
01:09There are many diseases and these diseases sometimes occur suddenly. It is important to do an early diagnosis, but at the same time it is also important where there are diseases,
01:18to implement precautions, lifestyle changes that can also positively influence the course of diseases.
01:26The Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatry is engaged in the writing of a manifesto dedicated to the prevention of dementia,
01:33in which the main factors responsible for cognitive decline are identified.
01:38So we developed a dodecalogue that sees in the first place the prevention of delirium, which is a very important psychiatric manifestation in the geriatric age, especially in the hospitalized patient.
01:51Very important because this event, that is, the development of this psychotic manifestation in the elderly patient, is an important determinant of mortality.
02:01And not only mortality, but also the development of dementia.
02:06It is also essential to talk about mental health. As underlined by the WHO, in fact, it is important to adopt a global approach to health.
02:15The Ministry of Health and Minister Lazio Schillaci have given great importance to the theme of mental health and brain well-being.
02:22Let us remember the institution of the table of mental health, which has been working for almost two years and is finally working on updating the national mental health plan.
02:34Let us remember the economic commitment that this government is investing in brain health, for example the Alzheimer's Fund.
02:41It is clear that change must be prospective. It is necessary that the government, therefore the legislator, as well as the minister and the ministry, approach brain health in an integrated way.
02:53We must not only pay attention to prevention, early diagnosis and treatment, because if the brain is well, the body is well, the human being is well.
