01:04Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Mar Marrero from the Telesur headquarters in Caracas,
01:08Venezuela.
01:09Now we will be with the news, stay with us.
01:24In the United States, the American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita to Washington, D.C.
01:32crashed with a military helicopter on Wednesday night near the National Airport.
01:38Passengers, planes, crews, 60 passengers and four crew members in the helicopter Ablaq
01:44Haq were at least three U.S. soldiers at the time of the collision, according to the statements
01:49of the senior defense official.
01:51The number of casualties is not yet known, but the police forces have brought at least
01:5718 bodies from Potomac River.
02:00Reland State Police divers are on the scene to help search the river.
02:09The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the Reagan National Airport has been
02:13closed temporarily and that flights have been diverted to Baltimore, Washington International
02:19Martial Airport.
02:20However, the U.S. Army Ablaq Haq helicopter that collided with American Airlines Flight
02:255342 was on a training flight at the time of the accident, declared the spokesperson
02:32for a joint task force with the National Capital Region, Heather DeChyres.
02:36This is for an emergency medical services chief, John A. Donnelly Sr., said all search
02:42and rescue efforts taking place right now in the water, the conditions are dangerous
02:47and the recovery efforts will likely take several days.
02:50The U.S. Department of Defense described the event as an accident and ruled out the possibility
02:56of a terrorist attack.
03:03On their crash report on Wednesday night, the CEO of American Airlines, Robert Eastham,
03:07released a video statement.
03:09Let's see what he said.
03:12Most importantly, I'd like to express our deep sorrow about these events.
03:16This is a difficult day for all of us at American Airlines and our efforts now are focused entirely
03:21on the needs of our passengers, crew members, partners, first responders, along with their
03:26families and loved ones.
03:29Flight 5342 was under the command of four crew members and carried 60 passengers for
03:35a total of 64 people on board.
03:39We are actively working with local, state, and federal authorities on emergency response
03:43efforts and the American Airlines care team has been activated to assist our passengers
03:48and their families.
03:49U.S. President Donald Trump criticized on Wednesday that a crash between a military
03:54helicopter and a commercial airline was not a void.
03:57Through the social network Social, the president expressed, the plane was on a preferred routine
04:04approach line to the airport.
04:06The helicopter was handed directly towards the aircraft for a long period of time.
04:12It was a clear night, but planes' lights were on.
04:16Why there was a helicopter going up or down or turning?
04:19Why didn't the control tower tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if they saw the
04:24plane?
04:25This is a bad situation that seems like it should have been avoided.
04:28It's not good.
04:31U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to open an immigration
04:39detention center at the Guantanamo Naval Base.
04:43President Trump announced that the new space will be used to detain up to 3,000 undocumented
04:47immigrants in the United States who allegedly represent a threat to society.
04:52The U.S. head of state increased the executive order following a White House event in which
04:57he signed his first legislation as president, the Lockheed Martin Red Little Law, which
05:02will facilitate the arrest and deportation of undocumented foreigners charged with misdemeanors.
05:12Cuba rejected on Wednesday the decision announced by the United States President Donald Trump
05:19to use the Guantanamo Naval Base to incarcerate tens of thousands of immigrants he has proposed
05:25to forcefully expel.
05:27A committee from Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that this decision is a
05:33demonstration of the brutality with which Washington is acting to those supposedly corrupt
05:39problems created by the economic and social conditions of the country.
05:45The document also indicates that many of the people the United States is expelling or intends
05:49to expel are victims of the government's own plundering policies and field labor needs
05:54that have historically existed in agriculture, construction, industry, services and various
05:59sectors of the U.S. economy.
06:01Furthermore, the main Brexit note explains that the territory where Washington intends
06:07to lock them up does not belong to the United States.
06:10It is a portion of the Cuban territory which remains militarily occupied illegally and
06:15against the will of the Cuban nation.
06:17Finally, it points out that the responsible use of that place will generate a scenario
06:24of risk and insecurity in that illegal enclave and its surroundings.

07:06Welcome back to From the South.
07:21The Palestinian Health Ministry reported at least 10 citizens were killed in an Israeli
07:25airstrike on a house in Tammun, in an other occupied West Bank.
07:29According to the local media, 10 deaths have been confirmed, although analysts believe
07:33that a number could be higher.
07:35The Israeli army confirmed a drone strike claimed to target an alleged armed soul.
07:40In response, the Palestinian resistance movement condemned the operation in Tammun and the
07:45ongoing crimes of the occupation in the West Bank.
07:55In Palestine, the resistance fights Tel Aviv's aggressions against the West Bank, inflicting
08:01casualties on the Israeli army.
08:03Palestinian resistance fighters Hennig, Heinj and Inna feared clashes with the occupation
08:11on several occasions in Yenin and Tunkarem, in an other West Bank.
08:15According to the Arab Defense Forces, Israeli military vehicles were attacked with machine
08:20guns and explosive devices.
08:22It should be noted that the Israeli occupation forces restrict the access of ambulances and
08:27demolition and burn houses in the West Bank, killing at least 18 Palestinians and injuring
08:32thousands and displacing.
08:38The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and expatriates ran alarm bells on the fact
08:45that it has passed a bill to allow Israelis to purchase Palestinian lands in the occupied
08:52West Bank.
08:53The ministry condemned that they considered that the measure that represents a deep end
08:58in the invasion of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the application of Israeli
09:03laws in the occupied Palestinian territory, in a flat-run violation of international law
09:09and disregard for international legitimacy and its resolution, as well as the Geneva
09:13Convention and signed agreements.
09:16The Israeli bill, forwarded, constitutes a new episode in the plans of genocide, displacement
09:21and annexation, with the target of whipping Palestinians off the face of the earth.
09:30The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas is screening out on Thursday the release of three
09:34Israeli hostages in exchange for more than 100 Palestinian held hostages in Israeli regime
09:39prisons.
09:40During this Thursday morning, the Israeli militarywoman Agan Barger was handed over
09:44to the Red Cross Brunette Sermon in Jabal al-Rafiqa, in the north of Gaza.
09:50Two other Israelis will be released during the date, who will also be accompanied by
09:54five Thai nationals, who were not scheduled to be exchanged in the first phase of the
09:59agreement.
10:00Two releases have so far taken place, including seven Israeli women exchanged for 290 Palestinian
10:07citizens, many of whom were forced into exile in other nations after their release.
10:16Syria and the factory's government disbanded the People's Assembly, as well as other national
10:23and political institutions and laws.
10:25The factory authorities announced on Wednesday the abrogation of the constitution, including
10:30all associated amendments.
10:32Likewise, they unfoiled this in the People's Assembly, which had been set during the Bashar
10:39al-Assad's government.
10:40In addition, they disbanded the committees derived from that entity.
10:46They therefore informed that a Temporary Legislative Council will be created for the
10:51transitional stage until a permanent constitution be enacted.
11:00In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Rwandan-backed M23 rebel group has seized
11:05a new territory in the South Kivu province in eastern Congo.
11:09According to local sources, rebels seized the towns of Kensire and Mukwita on Wednesday
11:16without encountering any resistance.
11:18At the same time, the M23 and Rwandan forces are continuing their offensive in the neighboring
11:24province of North Kivu, where on Monday they seized the capital, the strategic city of
11:29Goma, after several days of intense clashes with the Congolese army and its allied militias.
11:40In this context, Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi condemned the presence of thousands
11:46of Rwandan soldiers who supported M23 offensive in the west of the nation.
11:54The presence of thousands of Rwandan soldiers on our land, their political, logistical and
11:58military support to their M23 puppets, as well as their involvement in the illegal exploitation
12:03of our natural resources, are leading us directly to an escalation with unforeseeable consequences,
12:08endangering the entire Great Lakes region.
12:13In this context, the Congolese head of state condemned the international community inaction
12:17as the eastern region's rurality is being violated.
12:23Their silence and inaction, witnessing the Kigali regime's barbarism and atrocities are
12:28an affront to our country and to the universal values of justice and peace.
12:31The Congolese people takes note of this passivity approaching complicity.
12:38North Korea is seeking to strengthen its nuclear shield to ensure national security
12:43and sovereignty.
12:44After inspecting a nuclear material facility, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un warned of
12:49an inevitable confrontation with the host country by 2025, in an apparent reference
12:56to South Korea and the U.S.
12:58Kim's visit to the factory comes after Pyongyang's FARC chief surface strategy guide cruised
13:05missiles on Saturday.
13:06It's the first test since President Trump returned to the White House.

13:53In Haiti, armed gangs perpetrate a new massacre in the community of Kennecops east of the
14:00capital, killing at least 20 people.
14:02According to the authorities, the Haitian National Police engaged in a confrontation
14:07against criminals, resulting in the death of some 20 gang members.
14:11Based on testimonies gathered at the scene, the criminal group has announced the attacks
14:17on the communities through social network dates before it happened.
14:21The affected families state that some people were killed while working in the fields, while
14:26others died inside their homes as a result of firearms or fires set by terrorist groups.
14:38Days before the first national public consultation of 2025, TeleCity will visit different communes
14:44to note the transformation that their inhabitants have carried out through this democratic and
14:49participative initiative.
14:50Belen De Los Santos with more detail from the panel's 2021 commune.
14:56On Sunday, February 2nd, the communes and communal circuits of Venezuela will go to
15:00the polls.
15:02Instead of electing representatives, Venezuelans will be able to directly decide which community
15:07projects will be financed in their territories.
15:11This is the third national public consultation, another chapter in the construction of Bolivarian
15:17participative and protagonist democracy.
15:20In the El Panal 2021 commune, located in the iconic 23 de Enero parish in Caracas,
15:27this new instance of popular organization is eagerly awaited.
15:35With lots of joy, with much enthusiasm, in recent days we held an assembly with our nine
15:40communities, where they postulated six projects ranging from repairs to cultural spaces, fixing
15:45of leaks in our buildings, in our houses.
15:49We have tried to ensure that the reality of our communities is represented in this
15:52participation of the 2025 national public consultation.
16:02The two previous national consultations held in 2024 have already left their mark in El
16:07Panal.
16:08At that time, the residents of the commune decided to finance the renovation of a staircase
16:13of vital importance for the daily life of the commune and the purchase of an ambulance
16:18to guarantee the transfers to health centers.
16:21These projects are now a reality.
16:27The ambulance is for us, our first executed project.
16:31It was really an initiative of our people, it has changed the community a lot.
16:35Now from the people's power it is possible with a lot of effort to have our own means
16:39for the transfer and health care of our people.
16:44And truly, many people, both here in building 28 and in the whole community, have benefited
16:49from having the ambulance, people from here and from outside.
16:52So it is very good, it really is.
16:56For the neighbors of El Panal, the consultation evidences the steps taken by the Bolivarian
17:01government to achieve a participative and protagonist democracy, based on the strengthening
17:07of the popular power.
17:09This relation between the government and the grassroots, popular power, is fundamental
17:14to really reorganize the whole of society, to put the people, al mando, we would say
17:22in Spanish, in control of their own lives, collectively, not individually, the people,
17:28the working class, in charge of their history, of their daily life, of their economy.
17:36That is basically what the communists and these consuls are an exercise that helps us
17:44go in that direction.
17:46The walls of El Panal speak of a history of struggle and a clear horizon for the future.
17:52The consolidation of popular power and the creative capacity of the inhabitants to transform
17:57their own territory.
17:59In this sense, the public consultations are a step further on the road to this dignified
18:04and sovereign destiny.
18:07Because here they do not come to do what others think is convenient for us, or what they think
18:12we need.
18:13We have a plan, and that work plan is called a concrete agenda of action, what we want
18:18in the short, medium and long term.
18:21On February 2nd, the people come out, they wake up very early to go out to vote, to choose.
18:26We get the results and then this government, this communal government, this new government
18:30of the communes, goes out and carries out these projects, executes them financially
18:35and with its qualified labor force, because we have that force.
19:05multidisciplinary ideas held every two years about UNESCO-JosĂ© MartĂ's project for international
19:10solidarity.
19:11During the opening session on Tuesday, the coordinator of the event's organizing committee
19:16stressed the urgency to build a better future, as dreamed by Cuba's national hero JosĂ© MartĂ.
19:26For his part, Pedro Pablo RodrĂguez, senior researcher at the Center for Marti's Studies,
19:31points out the importance of MartĂ's deeds in achieving Cuban independence, when Spain
19:36and the United States were trying to colonize the country.
19:43I always remember Fidel speaking to us about how terrible MartĂ must have felt following
19:48he had almost lost the expeditions to Cuba at the end of 1994 and the beginning of 1995,
19:54when the US authorities seized all ships and weapons, and how MartĂ was crushed into it
19:58for a moment.
19:59His letters revealed so.
20:03In addition, those conversations with student masses evidence that Fidel had almost learned
20:07by heart.
20:10How MartĂ rose above all that, managed to solve everything and managed to push forward.
20:17Maybe not with all conditions he had planned, but with most of them, the War of Independence
20:21in 1895.
20:23Also, the Brazilian-American writer and writer Fidel Beto state that both MartĂ and Fidel
20:32left and Un Valle will work in Cuba as it is the Cuban Revolution.
20:44I am also impressed by the fact that the two of them have done unique deeds in the history
20:49of revolutions.
20:54What did Lenin do?
20:55Well, not only Lenin, but many indeed.
20:58They united their intellectual lives to the armed struggles.
21:06To their commitment to go forward giving example, so ensuring their ideas get into practice,
21:10they took up arms to achieve the success of the liberation of Cuba from the Spanish colony
21:15and the liberation of Cuba from the US Empire.
21:19Why is it impressive?
21:21What impressed me the most is that MartĂ by living just 42 years, he left a very vast
21:26and diversified work.
21:31The same goes for Fidel.
21:33Fidel lived twice as long as MartĂ.
21:38But he also left a priceless work and perhaps the most priceless of all works is called
21:43the Cuban Revolution.
