00:32name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

00:45leaving neighborhoods in ruins and killing at least two people.
00:52Hello and welcome to From the South, Omar Marrero from the Telesur headquarters in Caracas,
00:56Venezuela.
00:57We'll be with the news, stay with us.
01:14President Nicolás Maduro stated that Venezuela will exercise its legitimate right to defense
01:18and guarantee peace to face a terrorist plan of extreme right against the country.
01:23During the activation of the governing bodies for the integral defense of the country, the
01:28Venezuelan President points out that the state will be in charge of guaranteeing peace to
01:33face the attacks of the fascist extreme right wing, which intends to spread chaos and violence
01:39ahead of its certain enemy, Sremeny, as head of state.
01:43He also stressed that a military, police, civil and popular union is important to guarantee
01:48the peace and security of the Venezuelan men and women.
01:51At the same time, he stated that peace will prevail.
01:56Because a state, a country, when it has armed forces, military forces, it's to defense with
02:06weapons.
02:07It's right to exist as a state, as a nation.
02:11It's right to the constitution, to peace, to territorial integrity.
02:17However, President Nicolás Maduro urged to accelerate the consolidation of a new state
02:21that will transform the country's institutions.
02:24It's being built little by little, the new state, and we have achieved a point in which
02:36we have to accelerate the construction and consolidation of a new state to transform
02:44all the institutions and allow to, in an efficient and permanent way, serve the people.
02:54This is a great task.
02:55I say it as a head of state.
02:57It's a great task of the government and all of its institutions.
03:01It's a great task of the judicial power, the legislative power, the citizens' power and
03:08its institutions, the prosecutor's office, the transformation of institutions and the
03:15state to democratize and turn them into more efficient institutions and link them to the
03:24necessities and aspirations of our people and the great transformations that are underway.
03:31And we need to accelerate.
03:35In Venezuela, mobilization of motorcyclists took place in support of President Nicolás
03:39Maduro and in defense of solidarity and peace.
03:42The great caravan started from Petare and ended at the Mila Flores Palace, where they
03:47were received by the Executive Vice President, Delsi Rodríguez.
03:50The mobilization was carried out to ratify the surname of President Nicolás Maduro next
03:54January the 10th of 2025 at 23 o'clock in the official time.
03:59Caravans from other states of the country would travel to Caracas on the same day of
04:04the turning in as a sign of their commitment towards the great struggle, love for defense
04:09of the Venezuelan homeland.
04:11These mobilizations are rallies, are taking place to defend the sovereignty, peace and
04:16democracy of Venezuela in the face of the constant fascist attacks of the extreme right.
04:23During the welcoming of the motorcyclist caravan, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela,
04:31Delsi Rodríguez, points out that if the fascist ultra-right were to come to power
04:35in the country, they would not be concerned about the Venezuelan workers, but would look
04:40after their own interests, in addition to repressing the working people.
04:46She also emphasized that any attempts by the oligarchs to set foot on Venezuelan soil would
04:53be immediately stopped.
04:55Likewise, she highlighted the defense of democracy and the country's sovereignty, even the
05:00media shows promoted by far-right sectors.
05:06We say from Venezuela, we don't want you to mess with us because we are defending our
05:13secret homeland, we are in the streets defending peace, and we won't have mercy.
05:20We have said it in perfect, civical police-military union, we won't have mercy in the exercise
05:27of justice the Venezuelan state will act.
05:30If that person that is spreading lies in extremist countries about our region, puts a foot in
05:44Venezuelan soil, he will be arrested immediately.
05:48Let's take a very short break, but remember you can join us on our TikTok account, Azteles

06:29Every year, thousands of people leave their homeland to reach a new horizon, a reality
06:52of those people who struggle for their freedom.
06:56To know the diverse causes of those who leave, Between Borders, Thursdays, only on Venezuela.
07:26Welcome back to From the South.
07:36The government of Mexico responds to the President-elect Donald Trump's statements about changing the
07:40name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
07:43During her usual morning conference, the Mexican head of state, Claudia Chambo, stressed that
07:49the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, was misinformed and was lead
07:53to believe that Mexico is still governed by the former President, Felipe Calderon.
07:58She also points out that the Gulf of Mexico is internationally recognized by organizations
08:05such as the United Nations.
08:07In addition, she proposed the name of Mexican-American for the country, while she made reference
08:13to the constitution of Apatzigan.
08:22And obviously the name of the Gulf of Mexico is recognized by the United Nations organization.
08:30On the other hand, why don't we call it Mexican-America?
08:36It sounds nice, doesn't it?
08:41Since 1607, the constitution of Apatzigan was of Mexican-America.
08:49So let's call it Mexican-America.
08:51It sounds nice.
08:54And the Gulf of Mexico was established since 1607 and it is also internationally recognized.
09:07For his part, the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, responds to President-elect Donald
09:12Trump, pointing out that the principle of inviolability of borders applies to all countries.
09:24During my conversations with our European partners, certain disagreement has emerged
09:29regarding the current statements of the United States.
09:32The principle of the inviolability of borders applies to all countries, regardless of whether
09:37they are located to the east or the west of us, and every state must comply with it, regardless
09:43of whether it is a small country or a very powerful state.
09:47It is a fundamental principle of international law.
09:52Cuba commemorates on January 8th the 66th anniversary of the arrival in the capital
09:57of the Caravan of Freedom of the rebel army led by Fidel Castro after revolutionary victory
10:03on January the 1st, 1959.
10:06Leaders entering to Havana will be born Wednesday morning at points in the capital where the
10:11convoy arrived on that date, after more than a thousand kilometers of journey in contact
10:17with the people from the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.
10:21The reenactment of the historic event will begin in the factory complexes in the Cotorro
10:28municipality.
10:29Then a floral frame will be placed before the gun march at the Museum of the Revolution
10:34in Old Havana.
10:36In the afternoon, the caravan will pass along the 23 streets in the Havana neighborhood
10:41of Vedado until they arrive at the Ciudad Escolar Libertad, a scientific and pedagogical
10:46complex located in the municipality of Marinal, where the central national ceremony for the
10:52anniversary will take place.
11:00Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva proceeded over a public ceremony in commemoration
11:04of the second anniversary of the Cubans on January the 8th, 2023 in Brazil.
11:09During the event, the president assured that if the Cuba has succeeded, that it will have
11:14killed and tortured the people, as the military did after the army coup in 1964.
11:21The president also emphasized that his government will work to prevent terrorist attacks in
11:25the country, to defend the three powers and the freedom of expression.
11:35The Bush is stormed by the federal government's building in the capital of Brazil and causing
11:41delivery damage to the Supreme Federal Court, the National Congress Palace and the Planalto
11:46Presidential Palace, located in the so-called Three Powers Square.
11:50Many rioters confessed that their objective was to support a military intervention to
11:55disrupt the democratic transition of power to the democratically-elected President Luiz
12:00Inácio Lula da Silva, who had been inaugurated on January the 1st.
12:05171 people involved in the attacks were convicted and sentenced to up to 17 years for creating
12:12now anti-democratic acts.
12:20In Argentina, bus drivers of at least 10 lines went on strike on Wednesday to demand the
12:24full payment of their salaries.
12:27Drivers are demanding the payment of the remaining 4% of their salaries plus the 25% of Christmas
12:34bonuses that should have been paid in December by their employer's company, like the Alde San Justo.
12:41At least 870 employees denounced that for months they have been receiving their salaries
12:47in incitements due to what they claim are differences between the company and the national
12:52government over a subsidiary issue.
12:59In Argentina, Mapuche communities and human rights organizations reject the MLA government's
13:04intentions to evict indigenous families from the territory of Los Pailacos in Los Alerces
13:11National Park, Chibut Province.
13:14The organization made a call to initiate a boycott campaign against the current administration
13:21of the National Park and the government.
13:23In this sense, the Commission for Freedom of the Mapuche Prisoners urged the authorities
13:27to set up a bargaining table where a viable solution could be agreed upon for both parties.
13:47The boycott will consist of not paying the entrance fee to the national parks throughout
13:51the country.
13:53We invite all the people who are going to visit any national park not to pay the entrance
13:58fee and to join this boycott campaign.
14:02The campaign seeks the re-establishment of the territories of the communities, not only
14:07the Mapuche, but also the indigenous communities that are being evicted.
14:15Wouldn't it be convenient, Mr. Governor? Wouldn't it be convenient, Mr. Larson? To go to a bargaining
14:23table, to create a bargaining table, I leave you with the question and the request, this
14:30request that has more than 300 signatures. More than 400 signatures, indeed, of organizations,
14:38social organizations, political parties, native communities. We are waiting for the answers.
14:46We are waiting for the opening of a bargaining table.
15:07Click on the notification bell to stay up-to-date on the world's most recent events.
15:38Welcome back. In Palestine, at least 49 people were killed in a new attack by the Israeli
15:47occupation army in the Davastikas Strip. The Nasser Hospital in Kanyounis, the main hospital
15:52in the south of the strip, received 20 bodies in the last hours, 10 of them children and
15:58five women. Seven people, including five minors, were killed in the shelling of a house in
16:04the Kessam's Roshan neighborhood, where several families were sheltering. After the 460 days
16:11of the Saudi's regime's unilateral campaign, the number of people killed has reached 5,885
16:19and more than 108,000 wounded.
16:23Suddenly, without prior warning, I heard the sound of the missile. I told myself, may God
16:29protect us then. The missile fell on our neighbor's house. I didn't know. What happened after
16:33that? I checked on my wife and children and felt that I had been injured and bleeding
16:36from the head. I took my children and went out to a safe place until now. There are people
16:40under the rubble.
16:45In this context, health authorities in Gaza said a wave of Israeli strikes hit the territory's
16:50southern district of Kanyounis on Tuesday evening, killing 1,000 people, 7 of them children.
16:56At least five strikes struck parts of Kanyounis, including one in the Al-Mawassi area, where
17:01thousands of displaced Palestinians are living in tents along the coast.
17:09Hospitals are being bombed. Where is the safe? UNRWA schools are being...
17:20What is the fault of this child or this woman? These people are civilians and have nothing
17:24to do with anything. We are sleeping in our tents and have nothing to do with anything.
17:31Moving on, in the United States, massive wildfires roared through the Los Angeles area
17:47on Wednesday, leaving neighborhoods in ruins and killing at least two people. Three major
17:53blasts that erupted just a day earlier grew substantially while winds fanned the flames
18:00and spread embers. The fires blanket the city with a thick cloud of smoke and ash and destroyed
18:08homes across the metropolitan area, from the Pacific coast inland to Pasadena.
18:18Here was our home with my sisters and we have lost practically everything. The flames have
18:22consumed all our dreams of years here. Everything here has turned to ashes.
18:31We evacuated at 3 o'clock in the morning when the authorities asked us to leave and we had
18:37to leave. I haven't been able to come back until now. I can see my house, but it is no
18:49longer a house.
18:52The Japanese Meteorological Agency warned on heavy snowfalls affecting the sea coast
18:57of Honshu. Authorities reported that in northeastern and central areas, it will be covered with
19:05snow as heavy rainfall is expected for the next hours. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transportation
19:11and Tourism detailed that highways on main roads will be closed as a precaution. The
19:16authorities recommend residents to avoid non-essential exits.
19:24We have come to the end of this news brief, but we leave you with the winners of the reality
