00:00Takeda Nobutora's defeat
00:02Although a coincidence, defeat is inevitable.
00:08How did the foreigners who changed the history of Japan lose?
00:12What was the cause and mistake behind it?
00:19This time, we will talk about the defeat of Takeda Nobutora,
00:22who was exiled to the son's abode as a tyrant.
00:27Takeda Nobutora, the son of Takeda Nobutora,
00:29was a great warrior who fought in the battle of Takeda City,
00:31a famous gate in the land of Kaigenji,
00:33and unified the Kainoku of Kigan.
00:38Why was the name of the new city, Kofu,
00:42overlooked by his son and his family?
00:46The philosophy of life learned from the failures of the defeated.
00:53The Lesson from the Defeat of Foreigners
01:03What do we learn from the failures of the foreigners in history?
01:10I'm Yuri Nakanishi, voice of Shinko,
01:14and I'm Jun Ito, a historian.
01:17Nice to meet you.
01:18Nice to meet you.
01:19In the Sengoku period, there were many famous people,
01:24but Shingen Takeda was a little different.
01:29He was good at reading history,
01:34and he was good at foreign policy, domestic policy, economic policy,
01:39family policy, and people-to-people policy.
01:44He was the best of the Sengoku period.
01:48This time, I'd like to focus on the defeat of his father,
01:53Nobutora Takeda, who was chased by Shingen Takeda to the land of Kai.
01:59Shingen's father.
02:01Shingen himself is often referred to as a hero.
02:06On the other hand, his father, Nobutora,
02:09has a strong image of a tyrant.
02:12What does that mean?
02:13Originally, Nobutora was referred to as a tyrant.
02:21In other words, Nobutora was killed to bring Shingen back to power.
02:25Did he do it on purpose?
02:27Yes.
02:28But Nobutora himself seemed to be a vicious man,
02:33and he did a lot of vicious things.
02:36It's not just that.
02:37It's also written that he was trying to get rid of Shingen
02:41and that he was trying to get rid of Nobushige.
02:45In the Koryo Gunkan, it's written that Nobutora
02:48was a person who was good at fighting,
02:50but he had a strong image, was stingy, was evil,
02:52and had a strong sense of justice.
02:54It's all written in bad words.
02:56It's all written in bad words.
02:59What do you think is the biggest reason
03:02why Nobutora was exiled from the country?
03:05The biggest reason why he was exiled from the country
03:08is that he didn't raise the opinion of anyone
03:10who was against his own political policy.
03:12And like every year, even if there was a natural disaster,
03:16he didn't recognize the rights of the people.
03:19In other words, it was a harsh political system.
03:22I think that was the reason.
03:25But there are parts of it that are necessary.
03:29In other words, I don't think we can deny Nobutora's
03:33I'd like to take a look at these elements
03:36and try to find the truth of this incident.
03:40This time, we will look at the reasons for the defeat of Nobutora Takeda
03:44and look for lessons to live for tomorrow.
03:47First, let's take a look at the life of Nobutora Takeda.
03:51Please take a look.
03:54Nobutora Takeda was exiled by his son, Shingen.
03:57Nobutora Takeda was born as the son of Nobutsuna Takeda,
04:01the guardian of the country of Kai in 1498.
04:11At that time, Takeda was surrounded by enemies
04:14such as Imagawa, Hojo, and Uesugi
04:17in the midst of a civil war.
04:20After his father's death, Nobutora Takeda became a young man in his teens.
04:24Abura Tawashira, who was aiming for the throne,
04:27turned his back on Nobutora Takeda.
04:30Abura Tawashira killed Nobutora Takeda in a blink of an eye
04:33and raised the name of the army.
04:37After that, Nobutora Takeda joined the opposing forces in the country.
04:41Then, he recruited the old men who had the ability to fight.
04:44Then, Nobutora Takeda joined the opposing forces in the country.
04:47He recruited the old men who had the ability to fight.
04:50He worked to strengthen the military force and wanted to resurrect the country.
04:56In 1519, Nobutora Takeda went to build a new capital, the Kofu,
05:01for the strengthening of his power as the guardian.
05:05He gathered the retainers of the country
05:08in the vicinity of Tsutsujigasaki, his main base.
05:12Two years later, Imagawa's main force, led by Suruga, came to attack, but they were defeated in Iidagawara and were able to unify Higan.
05:27The son of fate, Takeda Shingen, was born around this time.
05:35On the other hand, the country was defeated in repeated battles.
05:39In addition, if there is a risk of failure, the dissatisfaction of the fishermen will increase.
05:49In order to break through this situation, Nobutora united with the enemy forces such as Imagawa City and Suwa City, and advanced to Shinano for new territory.
06:05From here, an unexpected event occurred in 1541, when they finally aimed to expand their forces.
06:15When Nobutora visited Imagawa City in Suruga, the borders were closed by his son Shingen and his family, and he was exiled to Japan.
06:29It was the moment of Nobutora's defeat.
06:35Nobutora Takeda, who unified the world and raised the banner of the revival of the Reimu Takeda family, why was he suddenly expelled from the country?
06:46This time, he is approaching the defeat of Nobutora Takeda, who was on his way to Takeda.
06:53Now, let's look back at the main events of Nobutora Takeda's life.
06:58Takeda has the image of the strongest man in the world, but the era of Nobutora Takeda was a time when the Takeda family was not united yet.
07:10Before Nobutora Takeda, he was one of the many guardians of the country.
07:17Especially in the case of Takeda, there was a lot of internal strife and rebellion.
07:21What did Nobutora Takeda pay the most attention to in order to rule the country?
07:26Nobutora Takeda was trying to establish absolute power.
07:31It is common to think that the guardians of the country have absolute power in their own country,
07:37but in fact, it was very difficult to control the power of the family and the people.
07:45So Nobutora Takeda was living in a sense of anxiety that it would be strange to be saved at any time.
07:50That's right.
07:52Moreover, even though the guardians were Takeda, they had a strong sense of unity with the Takeda family.
07:58There were many rebellious black people.
08:00Nobutora Takeda conquered them.
08:02Nobutora Takeda was able to recognize his own power and authority.
08:09Not only that, but it is also necessary to change the consciousness of the people.
08:13In other words, the lord of the people is not Nobutora Takeda, but the lord of the black people.
08:18That's right.
08:20That would be a problem.
08:22For example, when building a road or a river, the black people were doing it on their own.
08:29When using the peasants, Nobutora Takeda was needed.
08:36In other words, Nobutora Takeda was able to control the black people by issuing a document as a superior authority.
08:42He was able to connect the Takeda family and the peasants.
08:44Nobutora Takeda was trying to establish absolute power in the country.
08:50So, he was the person who built the foundation of the Takeda family.
08:53That's right.
08:55As a document of the Takeda family, it is famous as the Kouyou Gunkan.
08:59I think there is a lot of fiction in this document.
09:04It's a very complicated document.
09:06The Kouyou Gunkan is classified as a military document.
09:09In the beginning, it was classified as a military document.
09:15So, a military document is like a textbook?
09:19That's right.
09:21In the Edo period, there was no such thing as war.
09:25The samurai had to tell people how to fight.
09:29They didn't know when there would be chaos.
09:31In that sense, the Takeda military document was established, and it became a big hit.
09:36I see.
09:37How did Nobutora Takeda, who was born in the chaos of the Takeda family,
09:41unify the Takeda family and the country of Kai, and restore their reputation?
09:47Let's take a look at the plot of the defeat.
09:52Nobutora Takeda has been evil since he was a soldier.
09:57The people of the country are worried about him.
10:02According to some records,
10:05not only the people of Kai, but also cows and horses are worried about Nobutora.
10:14At the Shingen Museum, which exhibits the history of the three generations of the Takeda family,
10:19we asked Mr. Sasaki, a historian and cultural historian, about his impression of Nobutora.
10:25What is Nobutora Takeda's impression of Nobutora?
10:28Nobutora Takeda has always been known for his violence,
10:33and his image of evil and treachery.
10:37I think many people think the same about him.
10:41However, his reputation has changed recently.
10:45Nobutora Takeda has done a great job of unifying the country of Kai.
10:49If he hadn't established a stable foundation,
10:54the Shingen wouldn't have been destroyed so quickly.
11:01It is said that the Shingen was active because of Nobutora's existence.
11:07Mr. Kuninobu, a descendant of the Takeda family, showed us something.
11:13This is a map of the Takeda family.
11:16This is a map of the Takeda family.
11:20This is a map of the Takeda family.
11:26This is a map of the Takeda family.
11:34And finally...
11:38This is where Nobutora lives.
11:42In 1498, Nobutora was assassinated by Nobutsuna, the 14th head of the Takeda family.
11:51The country of Kai is small,
11:55but the nobles of each region rule the country,
12:00so the country was not unified.
12:05Mr. Takeda established the Takeda family in every corner of the country
12:11and ruled the country.
12:15Eventually, the Takeda family became independent.
12:20Eventually, the Takeda family became independent.
12:24Sometimes they cooperated with the Takeda family,
12:28and sometimes they rebelled against the Takeda family.
12:35Mr. Hirayama, a historian of the Takeda family, said this.
12:41The Takeda family continued to fight
12:46while being helped by the powerful nobles.
12:51Nobutora's goal was to eliminate the situation
12:55in which the Takeda family lived.
12:59He was a man of direct military power.
13:03So Nobutora scouted the nobles,
13:08who were well-trained.
13:12They were the mercenaries of the Sengoku period.
13:17And he gave them the title of Ashigaru Daisho.
13:23Nobutora practiced the power system
13:28of the Takeda family before Nobunaga.
13:33It was thought that Nobutora's military power
13:38was not comparable to his father's.
13:42Mr. Tobioka, a business consultant, said this about Nobutora.
13:49If you have a businessman,
13:53it depends on his ability to recruit people.
13:58If you recruit only people with ability,
14:03people will be hired by other companies.
14:08It is very important to have a loyal person.
14:13To make a free old man loyal...
14:18If you give a position to a person
14:22who wants to be successful,
14:26he will be very grateful.
14:30It is possible that a loyal person will be born.
14:35The Takeda family was later known as the Takeda 24.
14:40It was built during Nobutora's time.
14:45Nobutora succeeded in strengthening his military power.
14:50He made the opposing countries follow him one by one
14:54and made new moves to unify the world.
14:58Nobutora's next goal was...
15:02To create a new center of the world.
15:07The transfer of the capital.
15:10From Isawa, the former capital, to the northwest,
15:14about 10 km, surrounded by mountains,
15:18and with vast lands all around,
15:22Tsutsuji was the first to complete the new capital.
15:26And around it,
15:29Kashin and Kunishu were forced to move.
15:33Oda Nobunaga and Hideyoshi's policy
15:36was to build a mansion in Kunishu,
15:40and let people live there.
15:44It was like taking hostages.
15:48It was a revolutionary policy
15:52to prevent rebellion and strengthen the ruling power.
15:57This is how the Kofu, the capital of Kai, was completed.
16:03In the north of the mansion,
16:07Tsumejiro, a farmhouse, was built.
16:13Since then, the Tsutsuji mansion has developed
16:18as the headquarters of the three Takeda families,
16:22Nobutora, Shingen, and Katsuyori.
16:26The fact that a castle was built in Tsutsuji
16:29is a business venture.
16:33It's been going on for 60 years,
16:37so I think it's a successful venture.
16:41But Nobutora is in great danger.
17:00In 1521,
17:03Nobutora was in great danger.
17:07Imagawa, the lord of Tsuruga,
17:10sent a large army to Kai.
17:14The Takeda family was forced to retreat,
17:18and the Imagawa family was approaching the Kofu.
17:21At that time, Nobutora's wife, Mrs. Ooi,
17:24had a child.
17:27Nobutora evacuated his wife to the mountainous area of Yougai.
17:33Nobutora was cornered,
17:36and he challenged the Imagawa army
17:39to a decisive battle at Iidagawara.
17:43Iidagawara was right in front of Tsutsuji.
17:47There was no turning back.
17:50It is recorded in the records
17:53that some of the Imagawa family members
17:56didn't want to join the army.
17:59The Ashigaru army was the one
18:02who contributed the most to the battle.
18:05If they had to abandon Nobutora,
18:08run away, get caught, or be killed,
18:11or retreat to another country
18:14and start all over again,
18:16that would be the best choice.
18:19That's what I thought.
18:22The Ashigaru army fought hard,
18:25and Nobutora won the battle.
18:30At the same time,
18:32the news came that Mrs. Ooi had a son.
18:37Nobutora was delighted with the victory
18:40and the birth of his son.
18:43He named his son Katsuchiyo.
18:46Katsuchiyo's son was Takeda Shingen.
18:49Nobutora overcame the crisis
18:52and returned to Tsutsuji with his wife,
18:55Osanai Shingen.
18:58It was a big deal
19:01that my son was born
19:04in the middle of the battle.
19:07The samurai and the people
19:10who were watching from afar
19:13followed Takeda.
19:16Nobutora, who achieved the unification of Japan,
19:19has a record of visiting Mt. Fuji.
19:26At this time,
19:29Nobutora was already looking at his next goal.
19:32It was
19:35to go abroad.
19:38I had a rough image,
19:41but it was very detailed.
19:44The city planning and organization
19:47were very detailed.
19:50It was like a four-year plan.
19:53I think he was a very smart person.
19:56He was very good at city planning.
19:59It was the early period of the Sengoku period.
20:02It was called the 16th year of the Eisho period.
20:05It was a time when the Sengoku era was still early.
20:07He was planning to make the people of Japan
20:10live in a castle town.
20:13Not only that,
20:16Nobutora was planning to promote business.
20:19He learned the business of Kyoto
20:22and built five north-south road
20:25and many locations for business.
20:28At this time,
20:31there was no other castle town like this.
20:33He was ahead of Nobunaga.
20:36Nobutora's new city plan was a great success.
20:39It was after Nobutora was exiled.
20:42Shingen was trying to ban
20:45what was new.
20:48That's how much the castle town was flourishing.
20:51I feel like I've seen a side of him as a politician.
20:54He was very thoughtful and smart.
20:57The Takeda family has a strong image of Shingen,
21:00but I don't think it's true.
21:03His father, Nobutora,
21:06built the foundation of the castle town.
21:09Nobutora's father, Nobutsuna,
21:12was planning to reform the Ryogoku system.
21:15But he couldn't do it
21:18because there were many obstacles.
21:21Nobutora helped him develop the castle town.
21:24Shingen took advantage of that.
21:27I think that's the truth.
21:29It's important for a leader
21:32to gather the power of each country.
21:35In other countries,
21:38the power of the people is stronger.
21:41He didn't just gather the power of the people,
21:44but he also gathered the power of the peasants
21:47and the peasants from other countries.
21:50He gathered the power of the peasants
21:53and the peasants from other countries.
21:56That's Nobutora's strength.
21:59In order to gather a strong organization,
22:02everyone needs to have the ability and charisma
22:05that everyone recognizes.
22:08However, if it's a strong one-man organization,
22:11there is a risk of being hated by others,
22:14so it's important to have a sense of balance.
22:20Nobutora unified the world
22:23with his strong leadership.
22:25At the end of the war,
22:28there was a storm.
22:31Where did Nobutora find a way
22:34to overcome the dissatisfaction of the people?
22:37It's the beginning of the countdown to defeat.
22:40In Kofu City,
22:43there is a portrait of Nobutora
22:46at the time of the Great War.
22:49Although he was an exiled general,
22:52he overcame the rough waves of the war
22:55with a sharp gaze.
23:01The country was built
23:04to pursue the ideal.
23:07In Nobutora's time,
23:10there was a typhoon, a heavy rain,
23:13and a typhoon once every two years.
23:18Because of that,
23:21the war never stopped
23:23even after the typhoon.
23:28When the economy was in trouble
23:31because of the war,
23:34Nobutora lent a lot of money to the people.
23:37In Nobutora's time,
23:40the economy was in dire straits.
23:44So Nobutora
23:47found a way out of the country.
23:50Everyone around him was full of enemies.
23:53Among the neighboring countries,
23:56he had to join hands with someone.
23:59By doing so,
24:02he could stabilize the economy in the country.
24:05In order to procure supplies,
24:08Nobutora decided to ally with the neighboring countries.
24:11First, he went to Suwash,
24:14the capital of Shinano.
24:16Then,
24:19he went to Imagawa,
24:22the capital of Ujiteru.
24:25Then,
24:28he went to Hanagura,
24:31the capital of Ujiteru.
24:34Then,
24:37he went to Imagawa,
24:40the capital of Ujiteru.
24:43Then,
24:46he went to Hanagura,
24:49the capital of Ujiteru.
24:52Nobutora responded to this.
24:55When the two companies were making money,
24:58if the two companies didn't make money,
25:01the relationship would be broken.
25:04I was very happy
25:07when I was in a difficult situation.
25:10A friend in need is a true friend.
25:13In this way,
25:16Nobutora continued his foreign policy.
25:19Meanwhile,
25:22the situation in the country became worse.
25:25Mr. Marushima, a historian
25:28who studies Takeda City,
25:31said this about the reason.
25:34The food crisis
25:37is the reason.
25:40Many people,
25:43especially the middle class,
25:46don't care about the food crisis.
25:49They only care about the war.
25:52The people and the government
25:55became suspicious.
26:01In 1537,
26:04Nobutora's eldest daughter,
26:07Yoshimoto Imagawa,
26:10established the Takeda-Imagawa Alliance.
26:12Takeda-Imagawa Alliance was established.
26:15It strengthened the relationship
26:18between the two countries.
26:21Nobutora established the foundation
26:24of the Sengoku Dynasty.
26:27At that time,
26:30Nobutora fell in love with
26:33Nobushige, the younger brother of Shingen.
26:36The relationship with Shingen was deteriorating.
26:39When I look at the Koyo Military Museum,
26:42I can see that Shingen
26:45looked like a cheeky son
26:48because of his excellent eyes and legs.
26:51But he was able to
26:54unify the world with his own strength.
26:57I think that's why
27:00the younger son
27:03didn't like him.
27:06One New Year's Day,
27:09Nobutora gave Shingen a cup
27:12as a gift.
27:15But...
27:18I don't think Nobushige
27:21had the thought of
27:24following Takeda.
27:27Nobutora became independent.
27:37In 1540,
27:39the crisis spread
27:42all over the country.
27:45The country of Kai was no exception.
27:49Nobutora was in a state of emergency.
27:52To expand his territory,
27:55he set out for Shinanoe.
27:59Nobutora entered the city
28:02in a state of emergency
28:05and destroyed 36 castles in one day.
28:08If you attack a large area,
28:11you can't attack a small area.
28:14Nobutora was afraid of Takeda's invasion,
28:17so he surrendered one after another.
28:20Finally,
28:23Takeda's territory spread abroad.
28:27Can I breathe a little now?
28:33On that night,
28:35a huge typhoon came
28:38and hit the country of Kai.
28:44The violent typhoon
28:47swept away trees,
28:50temples, and houses.
28:53The high waves of the lake
28:56destroyed the village.
29:00At that time,
29:02Nobutora thought
29:05that the war
29:08was not beneficial
29:11to the politicians.
29:20In 1541,
29:23Nobutora set out
29:26for a new territory
29:29in Shinanoe.
29:32But the cost
29:35was too high
29:38for the fishermen.
29:47After expanding his territory,
29:50Nobutora returned
29:53to his hometown.
29:57To solve the financial problem,
29:59he had to expand his territory
30:02and increase his income.
30:05But his patience
30:08was running out.
30:16Ten days after his return,
30:19Nobutora headed
30:22to Imagawa Yoshimoto in Tsuruga.
30:26I don't know the reason,
30:29but I have two thoughts.
30:32First,
30:35there was a ceremony
30:38to ask for a marriage.
30:41Second,
30:44I went there
30:47to consult
30:50with Yoshimoto.
30:53I still don't know
30:56which is right.
30:59Nobutora asked his son,
31:02Nobushige,
31:05to keep an eye on the new territory.
31:08But his son
31:11forced Nobutora to leave.
31:14Even though he took
31:17the best measures,
31:20it was against his will.
31:23Three days after
31:26Nobutora left Kofu,
31:29Shingen announced
31:32that his father, Nobutora,
31:35would be exiled and
31:38the borders of Tsuruga and Kai would be closed.
31:41Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:44Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:47Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:49Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:52Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:55Nobutora's father, Nobutora
31:58Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:01Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:04Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:07Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:10Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:13Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:16Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:19Nobutora's father, Nobutora
32:22Nobutora wasn't able to stop the revolt.
32:25Otsuki, Ikezaki
32:28Nobutora, Nobutora
32:31Nobutora, Nobutora
32:34Nobutora, Nobutora
32:39Nobutora set up a secret
32:41counter-restoration company,
32:43Kingen Zopp.
32:45Nobutora didn't notice the change in Hashimoto.
32:48What did Shinchu do when he realized the chaos?
32:52I think he thought he was done for.
32:54He was a teacher who gave up on his student,
32:58Shingen Wakaki, who was a faithful student.
33:03He was a teacher who gave up on his student, Shingen Wakaki, who was a faithful student.
33:06Nobutora never returned to his home country,
33:10but he continued to visit Surga and Kyoto.
33:15I think it's still the case.
33:18He was desperate to make the company bigger,
33:22but he didn't look at Hashimoto.
33:25There are many cases where the company is suddenly disbanded.
33:30There are many cases where the company is suddenly disbanded.
33:36Didn't the people around Hashimoto tell you about it?
33:41Didn't the people around Hashimoto tell you about it?
33:43If you keep people like that around you,
33:46you'll end up like that.
33:47If you keep people like that around you,
33:51you'll end up like that.
33:56This is the case with many companies today.
33:59I think Nobutora had two faces.
34:02I think Nobutora had two faces.
34:06Reformers have to overcome the reform.
34:09To overcome the reform,
34:11we have to suppress the opposition.
34:13We have to suppress the opposition.
34:15We have to be independent.
34:19If we compromise with those who oppose us,
34:21the reform will not progress.
34:24The reform is difficult.
34:26We have no choice but to continue the war.
34:29We have no choice but to continue the war.
34:30Shingen's coup d'etat was a success without a single victim.
34:35Why didn't Shingen oppose the coup d'etat?
34:42Here is Jun Ito's point of view,
34:45where he looks at the history from the point of view of a historian.
34:51Nobutora and Shingen had a fierce battle.
34:55In other words, Nobutora went to Imagawa,
34:59Suruga, and Tottori.
35:02In other words, Nobutora went to Imagawa,
35:04and the Imagawa family was able to settle in Takeda City.
35:10It's true.
35:12The mystery of why he went to Kyoto is also solved.
35:16To make Shingen take over the country,
35:19he went to Kyoto and supported the Ashikaga government.
35:23After that, he built the Nobunaga Fortress.
35:26He tried to welcome Shingen.
35:28I think Nobutora was the one who did that.
35:33If you think about it,
35:35there is no way that Nobutora was the Shijimashi employee of the Yoshiaki family.
35:39If that's the case, it's a brilliant plan.
35:42But you can't deny it.
35:44You can't deny it.
35:46If you are completely isolated,
35:48you won't be able to get any information.
35:51First, you need to secure your footing.
35:55However, if it's a strategy of the parents and children,
35:59it's a brilliant plan.
36:05Nobutora was exiled from the country in a hurry
36:08because of his unexpected coup d'etat.
36:12How did he survive the long period of 30 years?
36:17Let's take a look.
36:21Nobutora was exiled from the country and settled in Imagawa,
36:26but Shingen took care of him and took care of his living expenses.
36:35Shingen was very concerned that his father was exiled.
36:41When he didn't know where Nobutora was,
36:44he ordered an investigation.
36:46When he went to Koya,
36:48Shingen's brother, Nobushige, heard about it and
36:52sent a thank you letter to the temple where Nobutora stayed.
36:5817 years after he was exiled,
37:02Nobutora moved his base to Kyoto
37:05and became a member of the Ashikaga Shogunate.
37:11The position of supporting the Ashikaga Shogunate
37:16was one of the goals of Nobutora.
37:23Nobutora was so lucky that he became a member of the Ashikaga Shogunate.
37:29What kind of person was Nobutora to the Shogunate?
37:35The Shogunate was ruled by a shogun,
37:40so war broke out everywhere.
37:43The Shogunate was isolated from Kyoto.
37:46It was a very lonely place.
37:50The Shogunate was heavily influenced by the influence of Takeda Kai.
37:59In 1573,
38:01Ashikaga Yoshiaki, the 15th Shogun,
38:04went to Kyoto to suppress Nobunaga.
38:09Nobutora accepted Yoshiaki's order
38:12and infiltrated the country of Omi
38:15to support the anti-Nobunaga forces.
38:20Nobutora was 76 years old at the time.
38:25Nobutora was healthy until he died.
38:29Yoshiaki thought that if he was the strong man of history,
38:32Nobutora Takeda, he could do something.
38:35I think that's why he was able to infiltrate Nobutora.
38:41However, when his son, Shingen,
38:45who was the main force of Nobunaga's encirclement,
38:48died of illness,
38:52Yoshiaki was chased out of Kyoto
38:55and the Muromachi Shogunate was destroyed.
39:00Nobutora was in danger.
39:07The next year, Nobutora arrived at Takato Castle in Shinano.
39:15He met his grandson, Katsuyori, who had inherited the Takeda family.
39:22However...
39:25At first, things seemed to be going well.
39:29However, he had done his best for the country,
39:34but he was exiled.
39:36He was so upset that he couldn't control his emotions
39:41and started to say various things.
39:46Katsuyori, who was on guard against Nobutora,
39:49didn't allow him to return to Kofu,
39:52so he stayed at Takato Castle.
39:58In March of this year,
40:00Nobutora died in Takato.
40:06He couldn't return to his hometown, Kainoku, alive.
40:13Nobutora, who was 77 years old,
40:18was buried in Daisenji, a shrine in Kofu.
40:29Tigers leave their skins after they die.
40:32Nobutora left a big skin called Kofu.
40:37In recent years, the hero who made Kofu
40:40has been reborn as a villain,
40:42and he is still watching this town.
40:49Nobutora, who was exiled to Kudeta,
40:52seems to have no desire to do anything.
40:56He seems to be living his second life with full of motivation.
41:03It's strange.
41:05Nobutora, who was full of anger and hatred,
41:10is now working for Shingen.
41:14It's similar to that.
41:16Shingen seems to be very sad
41:19that Nobutora's father was exiled.
41:24I think that's why Shingen was burdened
41:27with the cost of Nobutora's stay in Suruga.
41:32According to the Koryo culture,
41:34Shingen did a special ritual in Ryogoku
41:37to prevent his parents from being unhappy in the country.
41:41This is called Daigari Tokusei.
41:44First, Shingen does his second life.
41:47It's a story about how he exiled his father
41:50without being able to see the suffering of the people.
41:53From the situation of the Takeda family at that time,
41:56was there a part of him that couldn't be stopped?
41:59I think there was such a part for the sake of the people
42:02and for the sake of the family.
42:04That's why, by exiling Nobutora,
42:07Shingen does his second life
42:09and becomes a country with very strong territorial power like the Takeda family.
42:14Now, let's take a look at the lesson we should learn
42:17from the defeat of Nobutora.
42:20I think it's important to value the consensus of the family and the people.
42:25Nobutora did not look back at the suffering of the people
42:28because of his independence.
42:30He went on a march to other countries
42:32and even moved to the capital.
42:34Of course, there was a part of him that couldn't be stopped,
42:39but I think it was a big mistake
42:42that he didn't look back at the suffering of the people.
42:45It's very important to listen to the voices of the people
42:48and the voices of the family and the people
42:51and to get a consensus from them.
42:54When we have a meeting at the company,
42:57we have a lot of opinions,
42:59but in the end, it's decided by the head of the department
43:02or the president.
43:05I thought it was a waste of time when I was young.
43:08However, it's a ritual to get consensus.
43:11I heard from a certain person that
43:14the president of the company suddenly came up with an idea
43:17and gave instructions.
43:20When I heard that story, I realized that
43:23I had to have a meeting to get a consensus.
43:26Nobutora was a person who was not good at making such a fuss.
43:31After hearing everyone's opinions,
43:34Shingen said,
43:36I understand what everyone is saying,
43:39but I want to do this.
43:42So I want everyone to be one.
43:45Even a hero with infinite vitality
43:48has a limit to his own power.
43:51Listen to the voices around you
43:54and gather everyone's thoughts and power.
43:57If you do that, it will work.
44:00This is a lesson from Nobutora's defeat.
44:07Takeda Shingen
44:10In the sense that he created the name Takeda Shingen,
44:13I felt that there was a great lesson from his father.
44:19The reason why Shingen became such a great Sengoku Daimyo
44:23is because he learned from Nobutora as a teacher.
44:28By doing the opposite of what Nobutora did,
44:33he was able to gain the support of the people.
44:37That's right.
44:39In that sense, he was a parent and child,
44:42and he became a wonderful Takeda family.
44:45I felt that story today and it was very interesting.
44:49Thank you very much, Mr. Ito.
44:51Thank you very much.
44:53Lesson from the Defeat of Ijin.
44:55See you next time.
