00:10All right, so first play we're going to look at, second and two, one of the Patriots' first
00:14offensive plays.
00:17What's going on, everyone?
00:18Mike Cadillac, Taylor Collis here for CLNS Media, back with another episode of the Patriots

00:29Bill Belichick rumors, where obviously it's a Wednesday.
00:32We're going to get to all of your Patriots questions that were so kindly put out to us
00:38on Twitter.
00:39We'll try and get some in the chat as well if we get to it here, but first let's talk
00:43about a couple things.
00:44We talked about both of them yesterday, but we're going to start with Belichick, and then
00:47we'll finish with some Gerard Mayo stuff that went down in Foxborough today.
00:53Nothing crazy, but obviously the Patriots practiced today, so we'll ask for Taylor's
00:57updates there.
00:58First and foremost, it seems like this Belichick thing is getting realer and realer by the
01:02day.
01:03We have a new update here basically every single day on the channel, and the latest
01:07is from, originally, Inside Carolina, which was the first.
01:12We've talked about them a bunch on here, because it was the first people that really broke
01:15Belichick's first interview last Thursday.
01:18We keep comparing them to our friend Kevin Stone of the New England Football Journal,
01:21sort of a local college beat.
01:24They nailed it.
01:25Things have since come out, and then today they reported that they are finalizing Belichick
01:30to UNC.
01:31Now, it's since been held back a little bit more from Albert Brewer of Sports Illustrated,
01:36from Adam Schefter of ESPN, or Pete Thamel and Chris Glow, I believe, of ESPN have it
01:41as well, and then Jonathan Jones of CBS.
01:43All are basically saying that they're nearing a deal, they're ironing out the details, and
01:48that both sides are working towards getting this thing done.
01:51So while it's not official, it feels like Bill's going to college, Taylor.
01:54What do you make of it?
01:56What are your thoughts on this?
01:57It's pretty wild that all of the rumors keep coming out, and it's like, oh, that's crazy.
02:01I wonder if it actually happens.
02:02Now that it's real, I feel like it's becoming a lot more wilder by the moment.
02:07It's so interesting.
02:09The manifesto thing is cool.
02:11It's just like, what is his offense going to look like?
02:13What's his defense going to look like?
02:15I know the Patriots borrowed some things from college, like their mint front, where they
02:19would sometimes have like Jabril Peppers, or Kyle Duggar is a pseudo outside linebacker
02:23in some of those five-man fronts.
02:24That usually helps you protect against RPOs, like they used it a ton against Joe Burrow
02:28a couple of years back.
02:29But I'm going to be very interested to see how he changes his coaching philosophy, because
02:34I do know that, to a degree, at some point, I think he acknowledged that he did need to
02:38keep up with the times and let the young players know how to be able to connect with them and
02:43get messaging through to them.
02:44And that's part of being a coach.
02:45You need to learn how to be the best communicator for different types of people.
02:49But if he's going to take the approach he did with Brady, where you're doing low lights
02:54and you're calling guys out, I know in college, a lot of kids are on scholarship, and there's
03:00not a whole lot they can say, which is why coaches like college better, or at least used
03:04to before NIL, because they had a lot more power.
03:07And then you get to the NFL, and people are like, I'm a grown-ass man.
03:10Who do you think you're talking to?
03:11I make more than you, so you're not about to be doing all that.
03:15Obviously, different with Belichick, but it's just going to be interesting.
03:18Is he going to adapt?
03:20I think those who are close to the Patriots know, or who really follow them closely, know
03:24that Bill is not actually the evil hoodie.
03:27He has his own sense of humor.
03:29Anybody you ask will be like, no, Bill's low-key, very funny.
03:32He just goes about it in a different way.
03:34So it's not like he's some monster or anything.
03:36But still, the way that he tries to get the best out of players in the NFL may not be
03:41the same for college students.
03:42So from a scheme perspective, from a philosophical communication perspective, it's going to be
03:47interesting to see how he adapts.
03:48But I'm sure that UNC is very familiar with his track record, and I'm sure they're not
03:52going to bring him in if he's going to be the exact same Bill Belichick.
03:56You want the structure, and you want the experience, and you want the expertise, but you may not
04:00want, again, that negative kind of reinforcement where you're dragging guys a little bit, because
04:05that just might not fly, especially with the NIL.
04:07I wrote about this yesterday for SI.com, and it was actually from WEI when Ross Tucker
04:14was on with Andy Hart and Christian Arcand yesterday.
04:17Ross Tucker has turned into an NFL media guy, but he also used to play football, and he
04:22played in 2005 with the Patriots.
04:24And he basically went on their show yesterday and was like, Belichick will be the worst
04:28college head coach, because from what I know about college football and what I know about
04:31Bill Belichick, he is negative reinforcement all day long.
04:35He's not going to be able to recruit.
04:37And now, take that with a grain of salt, because Tucker obviously only played one season in
04:40New England.
04:41And you're right.
04:42With guys who really know him, know that he can get to you the right way.
04:45It's just different.
04:46It's interesting.
04:48The difference between college and the NFL, and I think what's interesting, actually,
04:51with that is what he said yesterday on Pat McAfee, talking about how he would run a college
04:56program.
04:57I'm going to read it.
04:58I quoted it.
04:59I tweeted it yesterday.
05:00Basically, he was saying that, I'm going to turn it into a pipeline to the NFL for players
05:03that will have that ability.
05:04We'll run it like professionals, training, nutrition, scheme, coaching, and techniques,
05:08all that will transfer.
05:09And it will be geared towards developing players, honing in on time management, discipline,
05:14structure, and all of that, developing lifestyles, and basically said, I have all the contacts
05:19in the NFL that I have no doubt that I'll be able to do that.
05:21Also felt like a recruiting pitch, right through the words of ESPN.
05:25But again, I think he has sort of learned and adapted to this new age of players.
05:30The guy's 72.
05:32You have to adapt or die in this business.
05:34I think Mac Brown, he obviously got fired from UNC, but I think he did a pretty good
05:38job of that over the last couple of years, since leaving Texas and going there.
05:41I mean, Drake May talks the world about Mac Brown, and now, granted, he helped him become
05:46the number three overall pick and one of the best young quarterbacks in football, but that's
05:49beside the point.
05:50But yeah, interesting stuff on Bill.
05:53Maybe news breaks within the hour while we're on here that it's official, but as of now,
05:57talks between Bill Belichick still ongoing with UNC, but it looks like they're trying
06:01to get it across the finish line.
06:03All right, that's the Bill Belichick update, Taylor.
06:05Now let's talk about what's going on, Patriots post-bye week.
06:08It's Wednesday.
06:09They're back at practice today.
06:10You were down there.
06:11I was not.
06:12Two questions for you.
06:13One, any updates, just in general practice attendance, that you can relay anything of
06:19note?
06:20And secondly, the report that we talked about yesterday on the show where Jarrod Mayo's
06:25job could be in jeopardy if these last four games don't go according to plan, they get
06:29blown out, et cetera, loses the locker room.
06:31That was from Craig Bedard yesterday.
06:33We talked about it on the show.
06:34Any updates there?
06:35You can relay any information or just any thoughts in general, questions asked about
06:39Mayo and his job security moving forward.
06:43So with attendance, Marcus Jones, once again, was not there.
06:46We actually saw a few guys in the locker room with masks.
06:49You saw Kyle Dugger.
06:50He was at practice.
06:51Devon Gottschalk, he was at practice.
06:53Marcus Jones has had that mask on, I think, for at least a couple of days and he missed
06:55a couple of practices.
06:56So he could be dealing with some kind of illness.
06:58I believe we're going to get an injury report today.
07:01So we'll get a little bit more information on what may be going on there.
07:04Javon Baker, whose locker actually moved from the corner where you first walk in, he used
07:09to be with all the running backs, like Kevin Harris, Jermichael Hays, Diermondier Stevenson,
07:12Antonio Gibson, and then awkwardly, like Javon Baker.
07:16They only have so many spaces in the locker room and sometimes you just need to accommodate
07:19based on where guys have been, what spots you have available, because that's awesome
07:23pushback on like, why is he not with the receivers?
07:25Like Polk was with the tight ends and offensive linemen earlier.
07:28So you kind of do your best with what you've got.
07:31Now Javon Baker is between Jacoby Brissette and Demario Douglas.
07:34Now all of the receivers are finally together, but he was not at practice, Javon Baker, and
07:39you know, a stretch where we're expecting to see more of the young guys.
07:42We'd like to see him out on the field.
07:43So that was a little disappointing, but besides the attendance, go to Gerard Mayo.
07:48The big thing, really, I still don't get the vibe that players are going against Gerard
07:53Mayo.
07:54Like we haven't gotten any hint of that.
07:56And I think if you really need to be worried, it's when things start to kind of leak out
08:00and you get the kind of off comment every once in a while where it's like, that's not
08:04the status quo.
08:05Like, yeah.
08:06Like what made you say that when, you know, your head kind of peeks up a little bit like,
08:10okay, exactly.
08:11And Hunter Henry was talking about how he appreciates the consistency, the messaging
08:14from Gerard Mayo.
08:15That's been the same really throughout where it's, you got to learn from your losses and
08:18you got to find ways to win.
08:20Might sound obvious, but I'm sure that consistency allows them to at least have a message in
08:24some or a vision for what they need to achieve and something always have in the back of their
08:28minds during games, outside of games, what have you.
08:32I asked also, Kendrick Bourne, no, I'm sorry, Christian Gonzalez.
08:35I tried to ask Kendrick Bourne.
08:36I couldn't get one in, but I asked Hunter Henry, oh my God, I'm getting names like stuff.
08:41I asked Christian Gonzalez.
08:42Oh my goodness.
08:43Sorry.
08:44Sorry.
08:45I'm flustered.
08:46I literally just, I asked Christian Gonzalez, you know, all head coaches have different
08:49edges that they bring, you know, something that makes them unique.
08:52What is that for Gerard Mayo, especially in the context of, you know, it's been a tough
08:55season you're trying to retain buy-in.
08:57He mentioned the playing background, which is what KJ Osborne mentioned, what Austin
09:01Cooper mentioned.
09:02Basically what a lot of players said over the summer who were new was they were really
09:06intrigued by Gerard Mayo, the perspective he brings.
09:09And Gonzo was saying, yeah, if Gerard Mayo is telling you something, he probably knows
09:13what he's talking about and he does a good job of preparing those guys.
09:16So the locker room, there was not a single whiff of Gerard Mayo being on any kind of
09:20hot seat.
09:21But at the same time, the report did say it would have to be a disastrous end of the season.
09:26You know, like we said, if you get blown out week after week after week, then yeah, you're
09:31probably staring a potential scalding hot seat in the face.
09:36But I do not think we're even close to getting there.
09:38I think guys are ready to reset, ready to finish strong.
09:40And Drake may mention how guys, you know, there's a, there's a sense of urgency in the
09:45locker room because guys, I love this quote.
09:47He said, we never want to have this season again.
09:49And I'm sure fans feel the exact same way.
09:51So they understand the circumstances.
09:52I think a lot of these guys also understand the need for professionalism and really locking
09:57in, like finding your why or whatever it is to close out the season and just try to finish
10:00strong and, you know, whether it's because they're leaving, this wasn't something I was
10:03said, but like, whether you're a free agent, you just want to put good tape out there.
10:06Like teams are going to look at the last four months and if you clocked out, they may not
10:11want you as badly if you're, you know, on the open market.
10:13And if you're returning, you want to have something that you can hold up and be like,
10:17Hey, next year, if we fix these things, maybe we got a little something going on.
10:20So yeah, it was, it was just a refreshed locker room and you know, the press conferences,
10:24I would say.
10:25Any other good quotes from Drake?
10:26I didn't get to listen in.
10:28Not a ton, really.
10:29He got a bunch of questions about Belichick and UNC and he was like, yeah, that'd be really
10:34cool.
10:35You know, nothing really too crazy there.
10:36He said it'd be, it was very interesting.
10:38I'm trying to think, he mentioned.
10:39If you don't have it, no worries.
10:41I just, again, I didn't get to listen in.
10:42So I'm like literally scanning through my brain, like ball security is something he
10:45said he wanted to emphasize and not thrown into bad windows because Hunter brought up
10:49how there was a sack he took that led to a field goal that he was really impressed by
10:52where Drake didn't throw into traffic.
10:54So that's, that's pretty much it.
10:56Yeah.
10:57And on the, on the male front, before we move on to questions here, I know you sort of mentioned
11:00like the losing the locker room thing and how right now everything seems fine, but like
11:04a lot can happen honestly, over four weeks.
11:06And I, I, it made me think when you said that to like the Matt Eberflew situation in Chicago.
11:12Now I'm not comparing it to that, but they went into this season, revamped their roster,
11:18drafted Caleb, number one overall, and basically gave Matt Eberflew another chance.
11:23And I think at the beginning, you would at least assume that that was because the locker
11:26room was relatively bought in on the guy and they would kind of get a feel of the players.
11:31And very quickly this season, they were like four and two, they were in the playoff hunt.
11:35And then all of a sudden they tank, they lose six straight.
11:38And by the time the end of that Thanksgiving game boils to, you know, boils over Jalen
11:43Johnson is reaming out Matt Eberflew is in the locker room.
11:46And I'm not saying that's going to happen here, but I'm saying like there is, there
11:49is a possibility if it gets super ugly over these next four weeks that it could happen.
11:54You're not saying it will, but that's kind of how quickly that stuff can happen in the
11:57league.
11:58So obviously his job, not necessarily super safe, given the, given the season, but I think
12:03if things go status quo from here, he will be okay.
12:06Obviously see what happens over these next four weeks.

13:34Let's start here.
13:35This is from where I like this guy's name, curmudgeon Mike.
13:39You would think it's my burner.
13:40Yeah.
13:41Right.
13:42Uh, I guess this is sort of what we just said, but I guess we can kind of dive a little deeper
13:46if we want.
13:47What do we think the final Gary Ames need to look like for him to save his job heading
13:50into the off season?
13:52I think you need to be in it towards or until the end against the Cardinals and the chargers.
13:57I think the Cardinals were very inconsistent team as talented as they are.
14:00They're very boomer bust.
14:01I think to a bit on both sides of the ball, like Kyler Murray's made some outstanding
14:05plays, especially outside of structure.
14:07He's also put the ball in harm's way more than most quarterbacks over their last few
14:10games.
14:11Then you look at the defense.
14:12Buddha Baker is kind of the shining example of this, where he's the kind of guy who's
14:15going to make some plays and obviously like 18 tackles last week.
14:18I don't even know how that's possible, especially for safety.
14:21But at the same time, he also misses a bunch of tackles and the Cardinals are like one
14:25of the teams that's given up.
14:26I think the most missed tackles, but they're also have like had some of the most stops.
14:30So it's very kind of back and forth there.
14:32So the Cardinals, I think is a game you can win.
14:35I think Chargers, especially with such a very shallow receiving core with Patriots
14:39secondary.
14:40I think that's another game.
14:41They should be until the end.
14:42The Bills look, if you get blown out in Buffalo, I'm working to happen like that is.
14:49It's one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and MVP candidate, a defense that's extremely
14:54well coached and plays its heart out.
14:56And you just saw what happened against the Rams where they're down.
14:58They come, you know, swooping back and almost end up pulling it out towards the end if it
15:03weren't for one poor coaching decision.
15:05So that at Buffalo game is the one where I'm just like, hey, man, just like don't don't
15:09beat yourself is the biggest thing.
15:11If it's penalties and it's just like you have a complete brain fart, then that's a bad look.
15:15But at least one of those Buffalo games, I think you need to be competitive, whether
15:18Josh Allen's playing in the last game of the season or not.
15:21So that's kind of where I'm at.
15:22Like, I got to be competitive in these games, but the one pass I'll kind of give would be,
15:28you know, that one game at Buffalo.
15:30I'm totally with you.
15:31I mean, even yesterday, like we talked about this and you had mentioned I mentioned going
15:37on for but keeping competitive, it would be OK.
15:39And even you push back and you were like, they need to win at least one of these.
15:42And I still don't know if they do.
15:44I do think they just need to play each one relatively competitive throughout the end.
15:49And I think, like you mentioned, I'm kind of just regurgitating what you said a little
15:52bit.
15:53But playing Arizona, playing L.A. is a reasonable expectation right now.
16:00Buffalo is its own thing.
16:02The game out there, it's not week 18 yet.
16:04Allen's likely going to play.
16:06So that's what it is.
16:07But I do think that week 18 game is actually pretty important, because even if they are
16:12playing starters, they're looking ahead to the postseason.
16:15You're at home.
16:16This is your last your last tape to put on for the twenty twenty four season.
16:21Right.
16:22I think even if starters are in that game, you're at home and you need to play relatively
16:26competitive football.
16:27Now, if it turns into a 14 point loss at the end or, you know, something, but you need
16:31to play sound like you mentioned, the penalties can happen.
16:35One of the two Buffalo games, actually, no, the last Buffalo game at home has to be competitive.
16:39Name the other two.
16:40You got to keep it close.
16:41I think it'll be OK if this just turns into, like we mentioned, this nightmare scenario
16:45where, you know, you come off the by and the discipline gets worse and players aren't giving
16:50their all and Mayo again loses this locker room for whatever reason, coaching decisions.
16:55Again, you're talking about a potential one and done, but I think play it safe, play a
16:58competitive and he'll be just fine and especially with the red zone stuff.
17:02That's the biggest thing on both sides of the ball.
17:04Like if if Marvin Harrison Jr. catches a contested pass against Christian Gonzalez and scores
17:09like, yeah, OK, I'm fine with competitive reps, but the wide open stuff that we've been
17:14seeing where it's not even, you know, there's no one in the area code and the offense like
17:18shooting itself in the foot again with the penalties like those are the biggest things
17:22where the other stuff that's going on, you know, you want to make those improvements,
17:25but the red zone execution is probably like the banner thing that you got to just it's
17:29got to look better than what it has in the past.
17:31Totally.
17:32Taylor, you actually asked this question the other or last week on Twitter to followers.
17:37So I wanted to kind of I wanted to see the feedback you got and I wanted to get your
17:40answer to came in in the mailbag.
17:42What has drive Mayo done well this year?
17:44Like what is the affirmative case for his return?
17:46Besides, it's just year one because you kind of asked it and we talked about it like what
17:51is the the draw aside from players, coach and guys still haven't bought out just yet.
17:58So one thing I'd say is we've seen the team bounce back after their worst games.
18:01I don't think that's nothing.
18:03There were multiple times this year where things could have spiraled and obviously like,
18:06yes, they lose to the Dolphins.
18:08They also lose to the Colts.
18:09But you that was a very competitive game still that came down to a two point conversion or
18:13the Colts a playoff team were like, you know what, we just want to kind of put this away
18:17and not really give them a chance to come back in this one.
18:19So I think that's the biggest thing for me is that they haven't really spiraled at any
18:24point this season.
18:25When things get bad, they have a much more competitive effort the next week.
18:29And two out of the three times that happened, they won.
18:32I would also say, I think that he does prepare them well, like in terms of letting them know
18:36like the keys to the game that Belichick always talked about, like this, we have to do week
18:40in and week out.
18:41Mayo says it, players say it.
18:43They're like, we knew what we had to do and we didn't do it.
18:45Now that's its own problem, of course.
18:47But I think as a as a head coach, that needs to be like one of the bare minimums is you
18:51need to give the answers to the test.
18:53I think he does that pretty well, especially if I was a linebacker, it's not like he doesn't
18:56know how to study tape, find tendencies, look for weaknesses.
18:59He's not Bill Belichick.
19:00But, you know, he's still a cerebral guy who understands the game very well.
19:04I would say those are the two big things and also like retaining the buy in.
19:07I know that seems like nothing, but that's not nothing.
19:09This is a losing season.
19:11Yes, they have young players and yes, this is a rebuild where a lot of guys knew what
19:14they were in for.
19:16That doesn't always matter.
19:17Sometimes if you start losing and things aren't looking great, it's very easy for people to
19:20start pointing fingers.
19:22The locker room starts to divide.
19:23That has not happened.
19:24They have been consistent in their messaging.
19:26Yeah, like, you know, little things throughout the season where the receivers were upset
19:30or whatever.
19:31But like, that's not the kind of thing where I was like, oh, no, the team is falling apart.
19:34Like, yes.
19:35Happening in in Philly right now.
19:37A.J.
19:38Brown and Jalen Hurst apparently hate each other and they're still 11 and two and going
19:40to go to the Super Bowl.
19:41And you have a veteran who's going out on interviews and being like bad in reporting
19:46things that nobody knew about.
19:49So yeah, I do think there are some positives and those are the things that excite me.
19:52I think the thing he really needs to improve handling the media, which I need a much better
19:57job today.
19:58No crazy quotes.
19:59I barely understood what he said.
20:00I barely remembered what he said when I was just trying to pull stuff back.
20:03That's what he wants.
20:05That's a very good thing that and then I think the in-game situational execution.
20:10Those are the two really big adjustments I'd like to see him make.
20:13But yeah, I do like what we've seen so far.
20:16But also, like I mentioned yesterday, I'd like to see more aggression, better situational
20:20execution.
20:21And again, the media stuff, just like don't make any more headlines.
20:25If we can get that done, you know, more aggression, better decisions in those critical moments
20:30and then no unnecessary headlines.
20:32I think that you're looking good, Gerard Mayo heading into year two with some time to reflect
20:36on what you could have done better.
20:38Yeah, I'm with you.
20:39And I think he does obviously bring the players not again, he says he's not a players coach
20:43and I tend to agree with him, but he knows how to get the most out of players by being
20:47a former player.
20:48And I think that's the line he wants to sort of, you know, the fence he wants to kind of
20:54stand on, right?
20:55Is being being hard on these guys, getting the most out of them, but also understanding
20:58what these guys go through on a day-to-day basis.
21:00And I think he's done a pretty good job of that.
21:03Now the you mentioned the in-game stuff decision making.
21:06I also just think the in-game like actual coaching too, where he should be able to give
21:11a helping hand to DeMarcus Cummington.
21:13It feels like he hasn't wanted to do that yet because I actually, he mentioned that
21:17today.
21:18He said, even if it doesn't look like he's talking to everybody else, he has the headset.
21:22So they're in constant communication.
21:24That's just one thing where when you look at the, when you look at it from the broadcast,
21:27he's just standing in one place most of the time and it's just like, what is going on?
21:31But he did say that even when you don't realize he's still talking to those guys.
21:34Yeah.
21:35And you hope that's the case.
21:36And all you can do is believe him.
21:37And I, you know, I do until he proves us wrong on that front.
21:40But there are some, sometimes like I always think of Jim Caldwell with the Colts where
21:45it looks like that guy just stood there and let Peyton Manning run the entire show.
21:48Now granted, I think they won a Superbowl or they, yeah, they won a Superbowl with Caldwell
21:52or they went to one and lost, but no, they went to one and lost in 2009, but he was,
21:56they were still good on that team.
21:58And, but yeah, it just, it does sometimes it gives off that vibe that he doesn't really,
22:03he's not really coaching in game, but obviously he he went against that today, but yeah, that,
22:07and then the, the, the player's coach aspect, I think is important.
22:11I think that can help guys come in and potentially attract free agents.
22:16So just build on that.
22:17And again, to the, to the question, I do think it just being year one on a team that was
22:22pretty decimated does give him the right, I guess, to return next year, barring a complete
22:28collapse.
22:29And even Dietrich Wise talked about how, like with the miscommunications and the issues
22:32on defense.
22:33He mentioned it today.
22:34John Jones mentioned, I believe on Monday that there are a lot of young guys, a lot
22:38of new guys that have been in the mix and that does play an effect.
22:40Now it's more disappointing when you're talking about a guy like Kyle Duggar being the one
22:45who's making those like really critical mistakes, obviously early in the season, it was Jelani
22:49Tavai.
22:50But you also, you know, you have Christian Ellis, you have Del Pettis, you have Jalen
22:53Hawkins.
22:54You have like Jaquay Lenore, Eric Johnson.
22:56There are so many, Yannick Ngakwe, Yannick Ngakwe, not necessarily inexperienced, but
23:01a guy who's still new to your system.
23:03There are a lot of new pieces, rotating pieces, far more coming back and trying to get his
23:07legs under him.
23:08So that's another aspect of it.
23:09Like when people say it's the same defense or they want to compare the two, it's like,
23:14it's not apples to apples.
23:15It's very much apples to oranges.
23:16And it's like, not to be condescending, but it's like, if you really think about it and
23:20think, okay, why aren't they better?
23:21Like look at the roster, look at the guys who were playmakers last year and look where
23:25those impact players are now.
23:27And I think that answers a lot of the questions about why they took such a big step back.
23:31And that's why I'm transitioning us to this question here from at that guy stinks on Twitter.
23:36Love the handle, by the way.
23:38Why do you think the defense has played so bad with Demarcus Covington, who was so highly
23:41spoken about in coaching circles last season?
23:44It's really tough when you don't really know what exactly a defensive coordinator for a
23:48team is doing in that exact week, right?
23:51Because the biggest thing they do is just prepare you.
23:53Like they let you know what you can expect.
23:55And then a lot of the other stuff is position coaches, like the really specific minute things
23:59because you have to break these things up.
24:01One person can't do everything.
24:02The DC has so many other things to think about.
24:05I would say obviously the talent is one thing.
24:07I think the Belichick effect and not having him, just the little nuggets he can give you
24:12that goes such a long way and can kind of just simplify things in a way that even coaches.
24:18Coaches will talk about like who have very successful careers.
24:21I think it was Matt rule last year mentioned how he had a conversation with Bill and it
24:26kind of felt like, Oh my God, these were things that I'd never really thought of.
24:31And it really opened my mind to things.
24:32I think that's a really big factor.
24:34So talent not having to build Belichick advantage.
24:38And I want to sound like a scapegoat and I'm trying to get to Marcus Covington out of the
24:42weeds because I think if there has to be a scapegoat and someone needs to get fired and
24:46the crabs are like, I want blood, like who is going to pay for this bad season?
24:50It might maybe unfairly have to be Covington.
24:53I really would like to know, I wish I could give a player true serum and be like,
24:57what is he not doing well enough?
24:59Maybe like the coaching of the fundamentals, maybe not focusing on certain things quite
25:03enough that can obviously be a part of it.
25:05But it also feels like the issues are so inconsistent where it's rarely like one thing for more than
25:10a few weeks.
25:11And if it is one thing in a few weeks, usually it gets corrected.
25:14Like we talked about tackling for a while that got better containing mobile quarterbacks
25:18that got better third down defense got better.
25:20We don't really talk about those things because it's always just like shit on DeMarcus Covington
25:24time.
25:25But there's not a lot of issues you can talk about that were issues earlier in the season
25:29that have persisted.
25:30The run defense hasn't been great, but you also look at who they played.
25:32Like we talked about it.
25:33Tank Bigsby, Tony Pollard, Jonathan Taylor.
25:38Like these are guys with very good vision that are very powerful.
25:42Joe Mixon.
25:43And that was a different, that was like really bad coverage bus.
25:46Like that's giving up explosive plays, but they've really cut down on the explosive carries
25:50and we haven't quite had a game like Tank Bigsby had where they could not stop him to
25:55save their life.
25:55Right.
25:56So I do want to give him credit for that.
25:58They have made a lot of adjustments, but I think the lack of talent, not having Belichick,
26:01those are probably the two biggest things.
26:03Cause you don't get that extra winning edge that you need sometimes when you have a depleted
26:07roster and you're like, all right, next man up.
26:09That sounds great, but it sounds even better when you got Bill Belichick and he can, you
26:12know, just really make things crystal clear for these young guys.
26:15Let's stay on the Belichick topic.
26:17There's a tweet from a, from a UNC offensive lineman who tweeted like within an hour ago,
26:23I have decided to take my name out of the transfer portal.
26:26Hashtag Go Heels.
26:27Like that has Bill written all over it.
26:29I think that's so funny.
26:30So you mentioned the Belichick.
26:32I love this, this story now it's, it gets funner by the, by the hour.
26:36And you mentioned the Belichick effect of.
26:38Oh, it's Katzen.
26:39Oh my God.
26:39This is one of my boys, Alex Katzen.
26:42Oh, hi, Alex Katzen.
26:43Uh, well this, this tweet, this, uh, this, this Belichick story, I love it.
26:50And you mentioned this Belichick effect, the breadth of knowledge he has in his head about
26:53football.
26:54They, this 400 page Bible that he gives them, like he knows everything about the game.
26:58And I like how you said the Matt rule thing too.
27:00So I know college NFL different, frankly, neither of us are as well versed in college
27:07football as we are in the pros.
27:09But what, like, do you think, do you think he can do this?
27:12Like, do you think he's going to go there and he's going to elevate the program and
27:15he'll probably help them get a couple more athletes, but do you think it's actually going
27:19to work?
27:19What are your, what are your thoughts on that?
27:21I think having Nick Saban as a resource and a pest friend is massive because Saban obvious
27:27was, was NIL part of the reason he retired.
27:29Yeah, I think so.
27:30He wasn't, he wasn't a fan of the whole, the new landscape.
27:33And they've clearly talked about this, right?
27:35And like, you know, Nick Saban did not do well in college because he did not like, or
27:39didn't do well in the NFL because he liked the college environment better, where you
27:42have more control and you can tell people what to do and they can't really bark back.
27:46So he at least can tell Bill Belichick, all right, this is the kind of stuff that works
27:50because they have very similar coaching styles.
27:52You look at Nick Saban coaching at Bama and it's just like college Bill Belichick, where
27:56he is getting after these guys.
27:58He's not letting any detail or attention to that lack.
28:01So I think that maybe he can let Belichick know, all right, you got to curve some things,
28:05but yeah, you still got to lean into these guys because they do need discipline.
28:08But like what Belichick and Saban bring, that attention to detail, being able to communicate
28:13things in a way that very few coaches on the planet in any sport can do.
28:18So I absolutely think he'll be successful.
28:20Now it's going to be two years.
28:22I like to give him a year of some, you know, potential growing pains because so many people
28:26say that college and football and NFL football are two different sports.
28:29Got the wider hashes.
28:31Philosophy is a little bit different.
28:32You know, you can't rely on the quarterback quite as much.
28:35There's more sideline communication.
28:37There's so many different aspects to it.
28:39So I hope he surrounds himself with people who have experience in college.
28:42It can make that easier on him.
28:44But I think if he has that thousand foot view and just being more of someone who just relays
28:47messages, I think that can be fine because he's watching college.
28:50Like I think it's going to be a lot easier for him to kind of see.
28:54I won't say easier because a lot of the things that get to the NFL trickle up from high school,
28:58then college, then they get to the league.
29:00So it's not going to be the same kind of thing.
29:02But I mean, at some point, there's only so much you can innovate in football and Bill
29:06Belichick has seen just about everything.
29:07So I know I think he can be successful in college, but I also would like to acknowledge,
29:11like you said, we are ignorant when it comes to the college game.
29:14There could be aspects of this that I'm not even considering.
29:17But I mean, it's Bill Belichick.
29:18He's just, I think, a great coach, period.
29:20We even coaches respect and hold in high regard as a teacher.
29:23So I would be shocked if he's unsuccessful.
29:26I'll say that a couple of layers that I kind of keep have sort of been peeling back on this
29:31over the last couple of days.
29:32The first one is the the idea that he's like, we're not going to be able to talk about him
29:38anymore.
29:38It's almost like, oh, we want him to stay in the pros because we want him to stay relevant.
29:42Like, I think he's still going to be he's going to be appointment TV at UNC, like just
29:46like Dion.
29:48That's where I was going.
29:50Yeah, people, people love Dion in Colorado.
29:53They love Travis Hunter and Shader Sanders now because he brought a different element
29:57to that.
29:58Now, he's not going to be as open and, I guess, entertaining as Dion is at Colorado, but he
30:04still made Colorado Buffaloes the like worst college football program the year before they
30:10hired him into in two seasons, a ranked program.
30:12And they were just outside of the college football playoff.
30:15So the ability to turn around a program with a high profile coach, it can happen.
30:21It just did for the last two seasons in Boulder.
30:24And I think people, like I said, it's going to be appointment TV.
30:26People are going to watch.
30:27They're going to want to see what, how that team plays, at least early on, even down the
30:31stretch last year, like my brother became obsessed with the Colorado Buffaloes.
30:35And we, he used to come over and watch like when they first started winning those first
30:40couple of games last year.
30:42And he was like, oh, I love this team.
30:43They're so fun.
30:44I was, we would, we would watch the games together.
30:46And then by the end of the year, he'd still be texting me like, you want to watch the
30:48Colorado game?
30:49I'm like, no, they're four and eight, but like people still cared.
30:52Right.
30:53And so I think that's going to happen with Bill.
30:55And the other thing on that is, uh, with the new playoff, the ACC, isn't that challenging
31:03to win?
31:04Like Clemson won the ACC in the ACC championship this year.
31:07And they were ranked like 20th through, like they were basically unranked for some of the
31:13season because they went so up and down.
31:15They made a run, they get into the playoff or they get into the ACC championship rather
31:19because Miami, like if he just gets in and wins, the ACC gets in the playoff, anything
31:24can happen in a one game, one off against Bill Belichick.
31:27You think Bill Belichick isn't going to have you prepared to play Ohio state or Tennessee
31:31in, in a, in a one game, and then you can just move on from there.
31:34So if he makes the playoff, I think that's a good successful season.
31:37So I do think that'll happen with him in Chapel hill.
31:40So we'll see where it goes, but it's going to be fun to pay attention to.

33:15What is the realistic plan B?
33:17If T Higgins actually stays in Cincy with upcoming free agent or which offensive free
33:22agent offensive lineman, excuse me, should the Patriots prioritize one little wrinkle
33:27to this is after Monday's game.
33:32Monday night's game.
33:32It was Bengals and Cowboys.
33:34And Joe Barrow was asked after the game about T Higgins potentially leaving.
33:38And he said, I have a feeling we're going to figure this thing out.
33:41And Kelsey Conway, who is a very respected Bengals reporter tweeted after the game.
33:47I've been covering Joe Barrow for years.
33:49He doesn't say anything that isn't calculated.
33:51I think he knows something.
33:52They're going to get this thing done.
33:53And then Jeremy, Jeremy Fowler from ESPN reported today that T Higgins may be switching agents.
33:59So something tells me they're going to get done with him in Cincinnati.
34:03So let's move on to plan B Taylor.
34:04What do you think it should be?
34:05And also if you want to hit on some free agents at the offensive line position as well.
34:08I mean, I think the plan B really has to be Ted.
34:11If you don't get Darius Slayton now, obviously you can try to go for a trade.
34:14There's been some rumblings about AJ Brown and Jalen hurts.
34:17We mentioned earlier.
34:19Now I do know that players have been saying that it was kind of getting blown up a little
34:23more than what it was and that'll make them better or whatever.
34:25But you always keep your ear to the ground with these kinds of things.
34:27AJ Brown has been traded from a team once different situation, but you know, it could
34:31happen again.
34:32You never know what these things.
34:34I would like trade for DK, you know, one of those guys, like if you're going to trade,
34:37I want it to be for those like true alpha X types who can completely take over a game
34:43that doesn't feel totally realistic right now.
34:46Then when you look for agency, there's just not a lot of great options.
34:48And that's kind of how free agency works.
34:49We talked about it last year, kind of feels like it's starting to shape up similarly this
34:53year.
34:53Although there are some players I think that will hit the market value every year.
34:57You got like five difference makers really on the market.
35:00But if you look at the wide receiver position outside of T Higgins, you're talking about
35:05step on digs.
35:06She's probably going to go back to the Texans.
35:08He had a season ending injury, but had a lot of chemistry with CJ Stroud early on.
35:12Keenan Allen don't really have any interest in him period, but I don't see why he wouldn't
35:16go back to the bears when they have better coaching around him.
35:19Amari Cooper was being a Buffalo bill.
35:22Chris Godwin's coming off a major injury.
35:24You know, I've been saying Darius Slayton because I think he's one of the few guys that
35:28has some real juice has lived at X in his career and can bring some verticality to the
35:33offense that they've been lacking.
35:35Demarcus Robinson's been a decent X for the Rams.
35:38And like I was saying last time we had this discussion, if you're good enough for Matthew
35:42Stafford and the Rams, I think you're good enough for the Patriots.
35:44They have obviously two superstars, but you know, at least it's a better in presence.
35:48Cause right now you don't really have a true X, even though Keisha Booty has been in the
35:52role.
35:52So again, you need a difference maker at receiver period.
35:55You cannot go into next year with the same room that you have right now.
35:58And maybe just like a couple of mid tier veterans added to the mix.
36:02So I think that's your alternative, whether it's him.
36:05Mika Buka, like whoever it is, Luther, Luther Burden, like you need one of those true difference
36:11makers who is going to be a starter from day one and be able to contribute right out of
36:15the box.
36:15So yeah, I hope that T it's the market.
36:18It's really going to suck if he doesn't, because this market is dry receiver this off
36:22season when you look at the realistic guys to hit the market.
36:25But yeah, I think it's probably just going to be the draft is your best case scenario.
36:28You mentioned Tet, you mentioned Luther Burden, you mentioned a Buka, you didn't mention
36:33Travis Hunter.
36:34Travis Hunter in the latest ESPN mock draft with field Yates this morning goes to the
36:39Patriots at pick number three.
36:40Obviously Heisman favorite, uh, unbelievable wide receiver, unbelievable cornerback plays
36:46both sides, did everything for Colorado this season.
36:48Question comes from G McJenkins.
36:51If we do take Travis Hunter, how would you expect the Patriots to use them?
36:54Are you worried about him being too skinny to handle the rigors of one side of the ball,
36:58let alone two?
36:58I know this has been your knock on Travis Hunter.
37:00So talk to me about Hunter.
37:01I also saw today that you tweeted that you're kind of warming up to the idea of them dropping.
37:05Yeah.
37:05And James White was on board.
37:08Um, but yeah, so I looked at scouting reports cause that's been my concern, but I haven't
37:13really heard about that from, you know, scouts or anything.
37:15So I wanted to just quick Google search.
37:17Let me read three scouting reports about Travis Hunter and see if I'm alone in that fear.
37:21If he has the potential to gain some mass now, friend of the show, Andre Weingarten,
37:25who used to be an NFL scout did mention that Travis Hunter's legs are pretty skinny and
37:30they don't look like they can put on much more mass, but he did say they're very toned,
37:34which obviously like it's more muscle there.
37:36So maybe that'll help, but really none of the scouting reports I read said anything
37:40about durability concerns.
37:42Obviously there's, you got to figure out where you're going to play him.
37:44I think most people assume he's going to be a corner in the NFL because one, I think if
37:49you are concerned about his size corner, you're not nearly as concerned as you are.
37:53If he's a wide receiver, you're not going to be taking as many hits.
37:55If anything, you're delivering the hits.
37:56And he does play with an aggressive style at corner.
37:58Like he doesn't play like he's 180, 185 or whatever.
38:01He gets after it.
38:02Also like that forced fumble he had in that one game on the goal line was awesome.
38:05But I mean, he's such a playmaker dude, like athlete in terms of like what he can do on
38:10a football field.
38:10Maybe he's going to run like a low four, four.
38:13I don't know if he's a four, three kind of guy, but he is an incredible football player
38:18and the kind of guy that you want on your team.
38:20If the durability is not a concern and the Patriots aren't worried about it and they
38:23say, Hey, we're going to get you in here, put another 10, 15 pounds on you.
38:26Kind of like what we know with DeMario Douglas, he put on a lot of weight before he got to
38:29the team.
38:29If you can do that, you're talking about Christian Gonzalez and Travis Hunter, two guys who you
38:35can have, you won't be paying both at the same time until about 20, 29, maybe 20, 28.
38:40If you sign a new, an extension early Travis Hunter.
38:42And those are two guys who are going to be under 25 and potential all pro slash pro bowl
38:48players every single year.
38:50I'm all about building up the trenches.
38:52Like that's where I'd like them to invest a lot of their money.
38:54Like Mason Graham, if you can get him, she like, yes, please.
38:58But at the same time, man, it'd be really hard to pass up what would be truly a lockdown
39:02cornerback duo.
39:03So that's why I'm saying I'm warming up.
39:05And then on offense, like he's not like Marcus Jones where he didn't really play receiver
39:08in college.
39:09He was more of a gadget guy.
39:10Travis Hunter, is he going to be running like whip routes and all that stuff?
39:14No, but he can run a hitch, a go and a slant.
39:17Those are three of the most important routes in football.
39:19You can do that at a high level.
39:21I'm all about it.
39:22So I think he could be more than a Marcus Jones where it's not just like a few badges
39:26appearances.
39:26It's like, no, he'll line up outside and he'll actually run and you need to respect him.
39:30So maybe like five of those plays a game or something like that.
39:33Because if you think about like Marcus Jones, he's a punt returner.
39:36So that's another like five, six plus reps that he has.
39:40Plus now the offensive stuff.
39:41So if you can maybe take the role that Marcus Jones has or that kind of snap share and translate
39:46into a package of Travis Hunter in the red zone, critical situations, what have you.
39:50You're getting me excited.
39:52I'm really trying to think about it and be fair.
39:54I think it'd be crazy to only have him play on one side of the ball, especially if you
39:58do have him play corner because you're running a lot.
40:00But if you're a good athlete, you should be okay.
40:02It's more like the, and he clearly has the stamina to play a ton of football.
40:05Like he has the last two or three seasons, right?
40:08And like, is it, do I want him doing that after his rookie deal?
40:11Maybe not.
40:11Like I'm not saying it's necessarily sustainable for an entire career.
40:14An NFL season is much different.
40:16It's longer.
40:17You have training camp.
40:19An NFL season from training camp going all the way to, if you make the playoffs, especially
40:24is like two college football seasons.
40:26Like you, you cannot survive.
40:28I don't care who you are.
40:29You're not surviving playing both sides of the ball consistently.
40:32But if it's like, you know, in certain game plans again, packages I'm cool with, but yeah,
40:35I I'm definitely warming up on Travis Hunter.
40:38And like anytime we bring it up, I feel so bad bringing up the durability
40:41because I love everything else.
40:42So yeah, I, I definitely more, uh, okay.
40:45With the, uh, yeah, the, and the idea of him being more like a rot, a rotational
40:50receiver plus kind of thing, like not just Marcus Jones, but like, I look at how much
40:54Drake made loves his tight end.
40:56So get another tight end to develop behind.
40:58Obviously you have Jaheim Bell, but behind Hunter and Hooper and run a ton of 12.
41:03And then when you do run 11, he can be like your third wide receiver.
41:07And I know he's, he can play on the outside, but I'm saying like, when you go three wide
41:10receiver, you can have him go out there as well and kind of be like your third gadget
41:14rotational piece there, where it's more than just market Jones two plays a game, but it's
41:18like you said, a red zone package.
41:20It's okay.
41:20It's third down and we freaking need another weapon out here.
41:23I don't care.
41:24Everyone can know we're going to go to Travis.
41:26And if you cover the shit out of him, then it's just going to open up somebody else.
41:29And here we go.
41:29So his ability, um, it's, it's exciting.
41:33And I think that if they play it right, uh, which again, you can only hope that the front
41:38office and the, uh, and the coding staff can, I think it's very intriguing.
41:41So if they do lend the third pick and QBs go one and two, we'll certainly see what happens.
41:45But man, is he an exciting player to watch?
41:47Just won the, uh, what's the award.
41:49I just, I just wrote about it today.
41:51Um, he won the, uh, Paul Horning, basically, basically the freak of the year award.
41:57It's the, uh, the most versatile player in college football award where Marcus Jones
42:00won that.
42:01Yeah, he did.
42:02Marcus Jones won it a couple of years ago.
42:04Um, Jack Coletto, who was like a fullback slash linebacker for, uh, Oregon state, I
42:09think won it last year, but other guys like McCaffrey drill peppers won it when he was,
42:13uh, with Michigan.
42:14So like, it's, it's that, that versatile guy and he's a freak.
42:17He basically won the freak award.
42:18So, uh, all right now back to the draft.
42:21And I like this question.
42:22Um, can you see the Patriots being aggressive and trading back into the first?
42:26Like the Texans did when they got Stroud and CJ Anderson at two and three.
42:30Now the Texans, when they did this, they had pick two and then they had pick like 12.
42:38So they were able to use 12 and change to get up to three.
42:40So it'll be tough for the Patriots to be that aggressive because they just don't have the
42:44capital, but if they do trade out of three to five or six, if someone wants a quarterback
42:52or something, then you have capital to get back into like the middle or back half of
42:57the first round.
42:57And you can double dip in a situation like this.
42:59Now you can also use that capital to develop a bunch of other players, but I do see them
43:04potentially if they like another guy last year, they wanted to get into the backend
43:08and got burned and weren't able to go that, that receiver.
43:10So now yeah, right now, whether they extend themselves even further and offer more, now
43:16they'll have the capital to do that.
43:18Or you find a different team that will actually make a trade with you and go from there.
43:21So I do definitely think it's possible.
43:22I don't know if it's two front half of the first round guys, but they could definitely
43:26go do this.
43:27Yeah.
43:28If they love the guy, I'm about it.
43:30Like the first round is where you're getting potential instant starters.
43:33Now, obviously, they tried to go and get a Tyler Guyton.
43:37I think it was reported.
43:37Tyler Guyton, Xavier Leguette, and Keon Coleman were the names that we heard about that they
43:41were trying to get back into the first round for.
43:43I'm cool with it.
43:44If you have extra capital to spend, you can get more draft picks.
43:47You can figure that kind of stuff out.
43:49But if you have extra first rounders to deal, hell yeah, man, if you really like a player,
43:53because you're on Drake May's rookie deal, you want to maximize this window as best as
43:58possible once, especially with young contracts.
44:02So yeah, there's only so much I can say because I don't really know the prospects.
44:06It's not like I can say, yeah, go in and get that guy.
44:08But absolutely, if they have the extra picks to use, I would be very down for that.
44:11Yeah.

44:12Let's take a couple of quarterback questions before we get out of here.
44:15The first one, I wanted to ask it.
44:17I don't like the idea, but it's interesting.
44:20What are your thoughts on sitting Drake May down the stretch here, giving Joe Milton a
44:24look and increasing his trade value?
44:26No, no, no.
44:27That's what preseason's for.
44:28No, that's all I got.
44:29No.
44:29I agree.
44:30It makes no sense.
44:31You are trying to convince teams that they need to come here.
44:34If you put in Joe Milton, you look so unserious.
44:37Absolutely not.
44:38Absolutely not.
44:39This isn't like a veteran with a major health concern.
44:42We're talking about a rookie who you already didn't play until after the first month.
44:47Drake May protection already happened.
44:49Right.
44:50Yeah.
44:50No, respectfully, absolutely not.
44:52I'm with you.
44:52You can't do it.
44:53There's no question that he needs, not that he needs the reps, but it's good for him to
44:57see more NFL football heading into next season.
45:00They've relatively cleaned up the offensive line enough to where it's not a complete nightmare
45:06for him being back there.
45:07Right.
45:07And so that was the only concern.
45:09I don't think you should, you can't protect him and save him from getting injured at this
45:12point in the season.
45:13And we talked about tanking or lack thereof on yesterday's show.
45:17If they do this, that's tanking.
45:19That looks so bad.
45:20That's how you lose the locker room is sitting Drake May here down the stretch.
45:23Joe Milton may be great, but like you said, I like how you said it that way.
45:26That's what the preseason's for.
45:27Jacoby reset when he was first here, he was able to be traded a because of his preseason
45:32tape.
45:33But he also got in for those couple of games when Jimmy went down as well, but guys can
45:38up their trade value in preseason.
45:39I think that's what they, you know, that's, that's Joe Milton season.
45:42I don't know how much of a rush you are necessarily to get rid of Joe Milton.
45:46I know he's got the arm.
45:47He's got the athleticism where if he had to step in, he's not Drake may, but he could
45:51probably replicate a lot of what Drake may does.
45:53And even if you bring in a veteran, unless you really like the guy, you know, I, I, I,
45:57not that I, if someone wants to offer you like a third round pick or even like a fourth
46:01or something like that for Joe Milton next year, you have to think about it.
46:04Yeah.
46:04But I wouldn't necessarily be in a rush to get rid of the guy.
46:06If he's growing in your system, he's talented.
46:09You know, you just want to have some kind of insurance behind Drake, especially when
46:12you are relying on that playmaking ability.
46:14All right.
46:14We'll parlay that into this to close out the mailbag.
46:17Then who is the Patriots backup quarterback next year?
46:20Oh, I think.
46:24I do wonder if Jacoby Brissett would come back if he didn't get offers from other teams.
46:29Now depth at quarterback is so important.
46:31I think the Patriots would tell him next year, you would not be our main backup.
46:34They probably would try to transition towards a Joe Milton type.
46:39But yeah, I think it really just depends on what kind of offers Jacoby Brissett has, or
46:43it's like, how many teams is he really going to play for?
46:46Like he could be another bridge guy if he wants, but does he really want to do that
46:50again?
46:50Right.
46:50If the Patriots pay him well as a backup, like they have all this money.
46:53If they just want to be like Jacoby, we will pay you.
46:55And I also don't know how much Patriots are going to value him to be honest, because obviously
46:59you're hoping next year they had more talent where he maybe can get back to the kind of
47:03Jacoby Brissett we saw before he got to the Patriots, but didn't play very well for you.
47:09The whole reason you brought him in was to be a mentor.
47:11You don't need a mentor next season.
47:13So I do question how much they value him, whether he would want to come back or go somewhere
47:17where he has a better chance to start.
47:18So I'm going to go with Joe Milton.
47:20I feel like that's the safest choice.
47:22Yeah, I'm with you.
47:22Well, you know what?
47:24I do think Milton's probably the safest choice, but just to pump up Brissett's ties a little
47:28bit here.
47:29Yeah.
47:30The question says that he couldn't win games, but first of all, he did win two games for
47:35them.
47:35He won two out of their three games as the Jets game was, he didn't start, but he came
47:39in and won it.
47:39And then he won that first game in Cincinnati.
47:41Secondly, I think he's a great leader.
47:44He's still a captain.
47:45People have talked, you know, highly of him in the room.
47:49I don't think Drake May necessarily needs him anymore.
47:53I think that the transition was what the idea of the transition where you have him to lean
47:58on a pros pro type of guy.
48:00I think that's kind of over, but Drake May has never done a year or two.
48:06He's never hit a, you know, a year too low, right.
48:09And Jacoby Brissett may have.
48:10So someone like that can kind of guide him through that.
48:13Now, Alex, my pal TC McCartney can as well.
48:15And they've done a great job with that development here.
48:18So I, you're right.
48:21As far as the money, I think it would be a solid investment to have a guy like him to
48:24be a backup a, to, to help out the Roman B, to have someone who can win game, go in there
48:29and know the system, et cetera.
48:30I just don't know how realistic it is.
48:32You mentioned going elsewhere to be a bridge guy.
48:33He could probably make more than he would in new England and he could play football.
48:38I look at Jamis Winston, who was I want to say they're around the same age because they
48:42were drafted around the same year, 2014, 15 like Winston was bridge slash backup material
48:50for the last three or four years in new Orleans and then into Cleveland.
48:53And then Deshaun Watson goes down, Winston goes in, starts playing pretty well in Cleveland.
48:57And he's going to get paid a decent amount of money.
49:00I would think next year to be a backup elsewhere or even another bridge starter once again,
49:04or he could be Cleveland starter next year.
49:06If Brissette has those types of aspirations and wants to go and try and do that somewhere else,
49:10I think he should.
49:11I think he's, he deserves it.
49:12So we'll see what happens there, but I think he would be a good fit.
49:15Should they, should they be able to mend the fence there?
49:18All right.
