As Liverpool are so far proving an increasingly popular candidate for the Premier League title this season, which areas could they look to improve on in the January window and how will they use the month to prepare for the long run and hope to secure some silverware.

00:00They've made a few big signings in January windows over the last few years, but they've
00:06also sort of stayed quiet as well in a few. Just looking ahead to January, it's going
00:11to be quite an interesting time where, following the festive period, there could be a real
00:16crossroads of, if we're going to get someone big, they could really help us push on and
00:20trump this division under Arnie Schlott this season. So who would be a name, maybe a position
00:26to look out for, that would really impact Liverpool's side well and maybe even help
00:32them push themselves over the line and become champions once again?
00:35Yeah, it's an interesting one definitely. What Liverpool are going to do in January.
00:40Do they go and get someone to bolster the start of XI immediately, or do they get someone
00:45to come in and bed in a little bit and take the time? I think if you're looking at a position
00:52in the centre midfield, it's quite clearly the obvious one. Arnie Schlott came in and
00:57said he wants a new centre midfielder in the summer and that man was Martin Zupomendy and
01:02Liverpool couldn't get it over the line. Well, it's going to be interesting with Zupomendy
01:06now because maybe they cut out the bag a little bit. I think that's a little bit harsh because
01:11I think a lot of people, a lot of clubs wouldn't know about Zupomendy anyway. But Manchester
01:16City are struggling, they've lost Rodri, they've lost Kovacic, as we speak, they're
01:24struggling with injuries. So do they go and think, right, we need to go and get another
01:28number six in now? But obviously the advances that Liverpool have with Zupomendy, it's that
01:33they know the player, they'll know his agents, they'll know the sporting directors at Real
01:41Sofia, the groundwork's already been done. I think maybe someone to rotate Ryan Gravenberg
01:48could be quite important, see Mattaro Endo come on and finish games. I think even if
01:54another number six came in, I don't think Mattaro Endo's position would change. He seems
01:58to be that man who Arnie Schlott likes to come on and kill games off. But a little bit
02:03more rotation with Gravenberg, maybe even Gravenberg playing a little bit higher up
02:07the pitch and just having that extra body in there will be quite important. Or maybe
02:13a left-back potentially. I mean, Andy Robertson starts the season pre-season injured. He hasn't
02:20quite hit the heights that Liverpool fans are used to expecting. He's been one of the
02:26best left-backs in the world the past few years. But he's 30, coming 31 now and his
02:32father time's starting to catch up a little bit. Costa Simacasa's done OK this season,
02:37but realistically, is he a long-term replacement for Robertson? Well, he's been at the club
02:44for three, four years and he hasn't done so yet, so I'd suggest that he's not going to
02:49any time soon. So maybe another left-back as well, just to add something there for Liverpool.
02:55But yeah, I think central midfield is the one if they're going to bring someone in.
