00:00Liverpool are now top of the Premier League, obviously results going their way, but they
00:07are winning games when they're not at their best and that's sort of what champions and
00:11league winners have done historically. Is there maybe a title race on for Arne Schlott's
00:16side?
00:17Yeah, a good weekend for Liverpool, Manchester City to open points and Man Utd getting beaten.
00:23Liverpool did their job by going to Bulls and winning 2-1. I mean, it wasn't a spectacular
00:29performance by no means. They had to stick at it, edge it out, missed a big chance for
00:36Dominic Soboslai and they needed the penalty to win the game and these are the Bulls sides
00:43who have had their struggles so far this season. They're at the top of the table and of course
00:50the question is going to come up, can they sustain it from now until May? I think Arne
00:56Schlott's playing that down. He said quite a few times we've only played teams who are
01:02in the bottom half of the table so far. He said that before the Bulls game at the Premier
01:07League press conference. He said Man Utd doesn't expect them to be in the bottom half, he expects
01:12them to be in the top half at least, maybe competing for European places. So that's a
01:20warning and Liverpool have got some big fixtures coming up after the international break. They've
01:25got Chelsea home, Arsenal away, Aston Villa. Maybe that's when Liverpool's title credentials
01:31are going to be tested but I don't think Arne Schlott's gone into the season. I think we can
01:35really challenge for the Premier League title. I don't think any Liverpool supporter has really
01:40because it's still a young squad plus the fact it's a new manager getting his ideas across.
01:48It's a period of acclimatisation. Liverpool back in the Champions League as well, that's another
01:55thing to juggle and the cup competitions, they maybe know that that'll be the one that they need
02:02to go deep in to win a trophy. The Carabao Cup, there are obviously holes in the FA Cup, maybe
02:08they'll be high enough for some sort of success but in terms of the Premier League, it's difficult
02:15when there's a lot being made in Manchester City, Jordan Gates, Newcastle, Rodgeres out for the
02:21season, De Bruyne has his injury issues, Haaland sometimes struggles to stay fit and selling Julian
02:27Alvarez, there's no real replacement for Haaland but how can you back against Pep Guardiola in
02:31Man City? What they've done in Arsenal, there haven't been any real bad signings at Arsenal.
02:38Like I say every season, the aim for Liverpool is to finish in the top four, get back into the
02:46Champions League and then maybe go from there. Certainly that's imperative this season to just
02:53be steady, not get carried away, enjoy the wins when they come but
02:56there will be some hiccups on the way I suspect.
