00:00As one of the perks of being the highest official of the land,

00:03the president gets first dibs and tests riding a newly constructed railway line

00:08such as the brand spanking new Light Railway Transit 1

00:12and Cavite Extension Line which he launched today.

00:15Experts estimate the line, once in full operation,

00:18will cut the usual hour-long commute between Pasek to Paranaque

00:21by 30 minutes to three quarters of an hour.

00:26The first phase of the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project is officially open.

00:34President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led today's inauguration ceremony.

00:39The chief executive boarded and test-drove the new train line

00:43traveling from Dr. Sato Station in Paranaque to Redemptor's Asiana Station in Pasay City.

00:56Starting today, commuters can travel through five new stations

01:05on the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project.

01:08Because of this, the usual hour-long trip from Pasay to Paranaque

01:13will now take 15 minutes to half an hour at the most.

01:17Usually, when you're in the traffic, you're sweating a lot.

01:22But here, wow, it's so nice.

01:25From the 320,000 daily ridership on the LRT-1,

01:2980,000 more passengers are expected to join the daily commute.

01:33The equivalent of this is about 6,000 cars.

01:376,000 to 8,000 cars a day.

01:39But that's what we're missing.

01:42This is expected to help ease traffic,

01:44especially during the holiday season.

01:46The LRT-1 Cavite Extension will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.

01:52The train fare is priced at 45 pesos.

01:55This is the first railway line launched under the Marcos Jr. administration.

02:00The president took over the project initiated by his father,

02:03former President Marcos Sr.

02:05On this day, no one is happier than his son

02:09in seeing that his father's foresight is being validated

02:12by another work that expands mass transit

02:16that he had built for the people that he loved.

02:19There are now 25 stations on the LRT-1 line

02:22from Fernando Po Jr. Station in Munoz, Quezon City to Paranaque.

02:26More stations are expected to be added through partnerships

02:30with private companies in line with the administration's promise

02:33to strengthen the country's rail transportation system.

02:36For his part, the president has ordered the speedy resolution

02:40of the perennial right-of-way issues for projects

02:43pushing for the completion of the Unified Grand Central Station,

02:47Metro Manila Subway, MRT 4 and 7,

02:50North-South Commuter Railways, and more.
