00:00Almost 300 OFWs who returned from Lebanon were given financial aid.
00:05That's what Isaiah Mirafuentes has to say.
00:11Are we becoming emotional now, ma'am?
00:15No, I was able to be saved.
00:19It's a relief because I'm so happy that I was able to go home.
00:24Our countrymen are overjoyed that they were able to return to the Philippines after returning from Lebanon.
00:32Almost 300 OFWs arrived here at Ninoy Aquino International Airport
00:38from the repatriation effort of the government.
00:41It's a new beginning for the 290 OFWs who were repatriated from Lebanon
00:49because of the rising tensions in the Middle East.
00:53The Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Kakdak and OWA Administrator Arnel Ignacio were happy to welcome them
00:59when they arrived here at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
01:02The challenges mainly are the process in Lebanon to begin with.
01:07We know that the Lebanese authorities are trying their level best
01:11but the processing of immigration clearances in Lebanon, that's the first and foremost.
01:18It was 7 p.m. here in the Philippines when our countrymen left Lebanon
01:24and arrived here in Niaya yesterday at 3 p.m.
01:28They boarded the chartered plane MYW9071.
01:33In total, 903 OFWs were repatriated from Lebanon since October of last year.
01:43The government promised that they will answer the transportation of OFWs
01:47until they return to their homes.
01:50The DMW's deposit amounted to 75,000 pesos of financial assistance
01:56for the repatriated OFWs and 75,000 pesos from OWA
02:01and 20,000 pesos from DSWD.
02:05Meanwhile, the Department of Health is cooperating
02:09to provide medical consultant and psychological first aid
02:12for the repatriated OFWs.
02:15The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Migrant Workers
02:19as well as the Philippine Embassies in Ankara and Turkey
02:22are cooperating to make sure that the Filipinos who are in trouble in Lebanon
02:26can return home safely.
02:29We are working to function according to each direction
02:34DMW, DOTR, DOH, and of course, Congress.
02:39A whole family is taking care of our Filipino family.
02:44One of the promises of the government is that the OFWs will help
02:49to have a new income or find a new life here in the Philippines.
02:54Ron Torzuela told us about his experience in Lebanon.
03:00The fear is there.
03:02You are afraid because it will explode,
03:05especially when the leader of Hezbollah was blown up.
03:10So, your fear is there because every type of explosion is heard.
03:16The repatriated OFWs are united in the reason
03:20why they agreed to return to the Philippines.
03:23This is so that they can live in peace
03:27with their loved ones.
03:30Isaiah Mirafuentes for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
