00:28 Welcome to Two Wheels for the 150th time.
00:32 150.
00:33 Hey, now then, who'd have thought it, eh?
00:35 You feel old, that, doesn't it?
00:36 I never feel old.
00:37 Do you not?
00:38 No, look, but never feel.
00:39 150 weeks on the bounce.
00:41 You know, that's like, 150 programmes is more than some programmes or some run for like 10 years' time over a 10-year period.
00:47 Non-stop, mate.
00:48 Really, I should have a month off, I reckon.
00:50 Yeah, well, funny you should say that because most of these emails here say the same thing.
00:55 Wayne should have a month off.
00:56 Oh, yeah, sure. I want to have a look at them now.
00:58 But we have had some special requests just for Wayne. You've had one particular request, haven't you, Wayne?
01:03 Yes, but I couldn't do that.
01:04 No, there's no way the microphone would fit, actually.
01:07 Not without bringing a tear to my eye, anyway.
01:08 We did try and it didn't work.
01:10 But, yeah, lots of requests for lots of different things.
01:12 We're going to try and show you a little bit of most things.
01:14 Obviously, we can't show everything because we'll be here till next week.
01:17 But very popular, it seems, is motorcycle touring.
01:19 Lots of people like to go abroad on the bikes and we've done our fair share of that as well.
01:24 So, just for you people, here's some quick clips of bikers abroad.
01:29 [Music]
01:32 [Music]
02:00 We were on our final leg of the journey with only two countries left before we reached Nuria's home city of Barcelona.
02:06 We had caught the ferry from Greece and after a turbulent eight hours arrived in the Italian port of Ancona.
02:11 However, the customs and exercise officers were waiting and detained us on suspicion of smuggling drugs.
02:16 They stripped the bike down and sent in the sniffer dogs.
02:19 They tried with one dog.
02:21 It's like that.
02:23 Come here, come here.
02:25 Here, here, here.
02:27 Here, here.
02:29 Here, here, here.
02:31 Nothing, nothing.
02:33 I say, it's finished.
02:35 They say, no, no, no, one moment.
02:37 They come in with another dog.
02:39 Well, we're trying with another dog.
02:41 The same, the same.
02:43 They say, they're losing the time.
02:46 Second dog.
02:48 They put the dog in and we thought, it's finished.
02:51 Regular viewers will know that we've been abroad before.
02:56 But this time I had a new excuse.
02:58 With MCI tours down to the south of France for that famous endurance race, the Bordeaux.
03:03 But more of that in a later program.
03:05 This is about another sort of endurance ride.
03:08 The 750 miles to get there.
03:11 The first leg was a thrash across northern France.
03:18 Pretty uninspiring autoroutes most of the time, but they do have regular eateries to brighten the journey.
03:23 And best of all, I had a new VFR 800 to play with.
03:27 Passing through villages and traffic-free open countryside, you knew you were in France all right.
03:32 But we did have one mishap.
03:34 At our hotel, I asked tour leader Alistair McFarlane what had happened.
03:39 Well, we had a young lady on our tour today.
03:43 She was on a CBR 400.
03:46 Unfortunately, she had soft luggage on the back and the soft luggage came unstuck.
03:51 I've talked to Emma.
03:53 She's actually in hospital at the moment, but she's recovering fine.
03:56 She's had a bang on the head and she's in there for observation.
03:59 She tells me that she checked at Calais that everything was properly adjusted.
04:04 It seems that a bungee has let go, the soft luggage has moved over and it's jammed the rear wheel.
04:11 Now, that's a frightening thing to happen, Jeff, at any kind of speed.
04:15 But when you're on the autoroute and you're perhaps tramping on a bit, 70, 80 miles an hour,
04:19 for the rear wheel to lock up, that challenges anybody's skills.
04:23 So there we go, a bit of the old touring, eh?
04:30 You and Jeff, you get just about everywhere, all over the flaming world.
04:33 Where do I get to? Skegness?
04:35 You've been to the Isle of Man, haven't you?
04:37 You can call that abroad, can't you?
04:39 We can't let you go to France, anywhere like that, anywhere exotic.
04:41 How's that then?
04:42 They might think we're all that shape, might they?
04:44 Very funny.
04:45 Anyway, never mind that. What's next?
04:47 Next, sporting activities. You know, a bit of the off-road, a bit of road racing, a bit of all that sort of thing.
04:52 A bit of action. You're an action man, aren't you?
04:55 He's won a few medals on the old off-road outfit.
04:59 Some cups. Got one of them there, little egg cups.
05:01 Have you? Welcome.
05:03 But listen, no, the serious bit, because it is very, very popular, the sporting activities.
05:07 And we've covered everything, we've covered Speedway and Supercross and everything.
05:10 But definitely my passion and my favourite is the indoor trials.
05:13 Those boys are clever. Let's have a look at that. Run VT then, Paul.
05:17 OK, hit it.

08:58 [Music]
09:05 [Music]
09:07 [Music]
09:13 [Music]
09:18 [Music]
09:23 It's brilliant isn't it motorcycle sport?
09:28 Yeah.
09:29 You've got to admire any of those sportsmen at any level.
09:31 Super fit aren't they?
09:32 Got to be.
09:33 Look at me.
09:34 Did you used to be fit when you did it?
09:35 Yeah but I can't remember that far back.
09:37 Now very popular in our programme are the bike tests
09:40 because we turn to a bike test as often as we can
09:43 and we've done hundreds haven't we?
09:45 When you say we do you mean like the Royal we like you and Jeff?
09:48 Because I mean I've done what I can count how many I've done on one hand.
09:52 You've done a few, one or two haven't you?
09:53 Yeah and one of those tests was a needle in my backseat.
09:56 It was positive though wasn't it?
09:58 It was unfortunately, carry on.
10:00 Yes but of course bike tests are very, very popular
10:03 and certainly the most popular ones are the sports bikes.
10:06 So going off the emails and requests we've managed to get together the four most popular
10:10 which are the Hayabusa, the fastest bike in the world, the R1, the ZX6 and the R6.
10:15 So for all you bike test lovers here they are.
10:18 Let me do that, let me do that.
10:19 Do you know what you're doing?
10:20 Leave it to me, leave it to me, I've got it.
10:22 Well done.
10:23 I spent two full days with the test team out in Spain
10:27 with riders from as far apart as Australia, Japan and the United States.
10:32 During that time I didn't hear a single negative comment about this bike
10:37 and I'm certain at this price the Hayabusa will positively fly out of the showrooms.
10:43 And it explodes into life like nothing you've ever ridden.
10:51 Its small physical size and light weight help to make the R1 feel really manageable
10:57 and almost encourages you to push things perhaps a little further than you would normally.
11:02 It's great fun trying to keep the front wheel in contact with the tarmac.
11:06 The riding position has you stretched over the tank
11:09 reaching to the low bars in real racetrack style.
11:12 The handling is faultless, sharp, precise yet predictable
11:17 with no nasty twitches or surprises no matter how you ride it.
11:20 Front and rear suspension is fully adjustable
11:23 although the factory settings are so good
11:26 that there's absolutely no need for any fiddling in this department.
11:29 Leave well alone and just enjoy the ride.
11:32 The six-speed gearbox is smooth and very positive
11:36 and working the motor hard as you flick through it
11:38 will see you attaining ridiculous speeds before you can say 'fixed penalty'.
11:43 Ninja it might say, but Howling Wolf it is.
11:47 Responsible is that musical airbox under the tank making the most wonderful noises.
11:52 It's as if air is being drawn through some giant mouth organ.
11:56 It's absolutely brilliant and can keep you entertained for hours
12:00 zipping up and down the six-speed box like some displaced tap dancer.
12:04 Yes, no doubt about it, entertainment is this quackers forte.
12:09 14,000 revs comes up in no time at all
12:12 making it hard to realise you're on a 600.
12:15 But ease off a touch and you have a tractable 600 pulling away smoothly
12:19 until that banshee whale starts at around 8 grand
12:22 and you're off again playing races.
12:25 Everything about the R6 is designed to save weight.
12:30 The engine is as free running as possible
12:33 using low friction bearings and lightweight valve springs.
12:36 The spark plugs each incorporate an ignition coil for the bike's direct ignition system.
12:42 The head has been gas flowed and the four large 37mm carbs are assisted by a Ram Air system
12:49 which improves the mixture at speed by pushing in more oxygen and so boosting power.
12:55 Yamaha say that at 155mph it boosts power by 10%.
13:01 Well still to come on this Request special 150th show
13:05 we've got some great things lined up that you'll want to see again.
13:07 We've got Wayne out for a day playing cricket.
13:10 You've got a ball inside.
13:11 No, well you were playing with your helmet weren't you?
13:13 How's that?
13:14 Don't start that again.
13:16 We've got some top stunt riding, some fantastic stunt riding
13:19 and some very, very funny stunt riding with the world famous purple helmets
13:23 and we've got some top shows and also many people have asked to see this.
13:29 [Sound of a fire]
13:35 [Sound of a crash]
13:40 And that was Jumping Jake Sentex at the BMF show earlier this year
13:44 and in fact things didn't go quite to plan.
13:47 In fact it was purposely designed to go wrong.
13:49 It was supposed to go wrong, yes.
13:51 In actual fact it nearly went very, very wrong.
13:53 It very nearly did, yes.
13:54 You need to just check it out after the break.
13:57 [Music]
14:02 Welcome back to Two Wheels 150th episode request special.
14:07 Yes, requests. I mean people are writing in and making requests to see me.
14:10 I know.
14:11 Which is amazing.
14:12 They really need to get out more don't they?
14:13 I know, but see me hitting a helmet with a cricket bat
14:15 and being fired at with a flaming fireman's hose pipe.
14:18 Why? Why on earth?
14:19 Why?
14:20 We don't know but we'll show them anyway.
14:21 We'll show them, here we go.
14:22 Your request is our command.
14:25 Wayne's Warehouse this week is out on the road
14:28 and the reason for that is we're going to see how a helmet is tested
14:31 before you put the thing on your head.
14:34 For this particular demonstration we need some equipment.
14:37 Excuse me just one second.
14:43 So there we go.
14:44 Stop laughing.
14:45 What are you laughing at?
14:47 This is my test equipment.
14:50 Just check this out.
14:53 [Music]
15:01 [Music]
15:09 [Music]
15:17 [Music]
15:25 [Music]
15:33 [Music]
15:43 Now Paul said he had this all sussed and arranged
15:46 and I assumed he meant he was organising the weather
15:48 because he does say he is God.
15:50 But he hasn't organised the weather.
15:52 Well has he got organised?
15:55 Oh my goodness.
15:57 What on earth has he got here?
15:59 I can't believe it.
16:01 [Music]
16:06 [Laughter]
16:13 I can't believe this.
16:15 [Music]
16:25 [Music]
16:35 [Music]
16:45 [Music]
16:55 [Music]
17:15 Did you actually get wet then Wayne?
17:17 No not at all I'm dry as a boat.
17:19 No I mean then.
17:21 Oh when we did the piece.
17:22 Yes did you actually get wet underneath?
17:23 No, no remarkable.
17:25 You see the modern suits, these waterproof suits
17:27 they have like a velcro collar that goes across nice and tight
17:29 and cuffs that elasticate.
17:31 Zips that cover up with a flat.
17:33 On the basis of need to know, we don't need to know.
17:35 Thank you very much.
17:36 I was just trying to help you.
17:37 Stunt riding is very popular.
17:38 Shut up.
17:39 Sorry was I talking when you were interrupting then?
17:41 I'm sorry about that.
17:42 Right stunt riding is very very popular.
17:44 Lots of people want to see it again.
17:46 It seems that people can watch people doing wheelies and stoppies all day long.
17:49 It's been an honour of working with a couple of the country's top stunt riders.
17:52 Dave Coates and Jack Frost.
17:54 And also with what is without doubt the world's funniest stunt team
17:57 all the way from the Isle of Man, the Purple Helmets.
18:00 So here they are.
18:02 [music]
18:26 [cheering]
18:33 [music]
18:57 [music]
19:21 Now bike shows.
19:22 There are hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of people
19:25 who visit the various different bike shows and rallies all over the country
19:28 throughout the year.
19:29 Oh absolutely, yeah.
19:30 Lots of people go but there are still lots and lots more people
19:33 that don't go, can't get to them for various reasons.
19:35 So they like to see the two wheels eye view I suppose you could call it, couldn't you?
19:39 Could indeed.
19:40 Because we try and visit as many as we can.
19:41 So by popular request once again,
19:43 here's a look at some of the top shows and rallies that we've covered.
19:47 And also in this next little segment is an amazing stunt from jumping Jake Semtex.
19:52 Watch this.
19:54 [music]
20:23 [music]
20:52 [music]
21:20 [crash]
21:23 That was actually set up.
21:25 That was supposed to happen almost.
21:27 What should have happened was the white car was meant to roll over
21:31 and Jake should have crashed beside it.
21:33 Unfortunately, as you can see there, he landed right on the roof.
21:37 As I say, this was actually set up and there were no injuries to any party.
21:42 He's great that Jake Semtex, isn't he?
21:44 Amazing. Remarkable.
21:45 Fantastic. That was a clever stunt that, wasn't it?
21:47 Indeed it was because even though it looked like it had gone wrong, it was just right.
21:50 He had it how he wanted it.
21:51 A lot of skill and a lot of bottle.
21:53 Bottle? Talking of bottle, I'm a bit past myself.
21:56 You may in fact notice there's a member of the team missing
21:59 who happens to be down at the bar buying us a drink.
22:01 Yes, Uncle Jeff.
22:02 Yes, indeed. I'm glad the programme's coming near to an end so I can go and join him.
22:06 Yes, well it is coming near to an end, but without doubt the most popular request that we've had
22:10 is people wanting to see us and Jeff and everybody else making fools of ourselves.
22:15 Can you believe that?
22:16 I just can't imagine why they're requesting that.
22:18 We have got quite a lot of material to go off.
22:20 Yes, we're talking of course about outtakes.
22:22 We could show you a full series. We've got tons, haven't we?
22:24 Yes, just about.
22:25 Hours and hours of outtakes.
22:26 Not to me because I'm perfect.
22:27 So we're not going to squeeze them all in now, but we will be doing beer.
22:33 There's another outtake.
22:34 But we will be devoting a substantial part of next week's programme to some fantastic outtakes,
22:40 some great things to see.
22:41 But just to whet your appetite, have a look at this.
22:44 Do you know, I don't know how you do that, but also control.
22:47 It's basically the same engine as Yamaha using their FJ 1200.
22:51 Bored out, bigger pistons, stronger conrods, all the rest of it.
22:54 And there's plenty of FJ 1200s still.
22:56 What's he laughing at? What's going on here?
22:59 I wonder what you were laughing at then?
23:01 [Music]
23:30 (upbeat music)
