00:00 (audience applauding)
00:03 All right, you might remember earlier this year,
00:06 I interviewed California Governor Gavin Newsom
00:09 not that long ago.
00:10 I floated the idea of a policy-based debate,
00:13 you know, red versus blue, red state versus blue state,
00:17 between Gavin Newsom and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
00:21 Here's a friendly reminder.
00:23 I'll say, Governor Newsom, Governor DeSantis, economy.
00:28 That's the only word I'm gonna throw out.
00:30 You, minute, minute, then you go at it, next topic.
00:34 And I'll moderate it that way,
00:35 and you have my word, I'll moderate it that way.
00:37 I'm all in, count on it.
00:38 You would do a two-hour debate with Ron DeSantis.
00:41 I'd make it three.
00:42 Wow.
00:44 (audience applauding)
00:45 That would be, how many of you would like to see that?
00:48 Would you like?
00:49 (audience cheering)
00:50 Now this would be a debate that highlights
00:52 what are major political and philosophical divides
00:55 in this country.
00:56 You know, why is there mass immigration
00:59 from blue states to red ones?
01:01 How do you reconcile a lot of these issues
01:03 that are so important?
01:04 You know, states with high income tax rates
01:07 against states that have low income tax rates,
01:10 or none at all, like in the case of Florida.
01:13 What's the difference between a sanctuary state
01:16 and states that actually respect immigration laws?
01:19 What about the issue of America?
01:21 Should we remain energy independent
01:24 or restrict the use of fossil fuels altogether?
01:27 Now, Vice President Harris recently turned down
01:30 the opportunity to debate Governor DeSantis.
01:33 Gavin Newsom says he's not only open to it, he'll do it.
01:37 Now we ask Governor DeSantis.
01:39 We welcome him back to the program.
01:41 Governor, how are you?
01:42 (audience cheering)
01:44 Good, thanks for having me.
01:45 Great to have you.
01:46 All right.
01:50 You heard Gavin make the offer.
01:52 Your answer is?
01:54 Absolutely, I'm game.
01:58 Let's get it done.
01:59 Just tell me when and where.
02:00 We'll do it.
02:01 And here's the thing, Sean.
02:02 I mean, in one respect,
02:05 the debate between California and Florida,
02:08 you know, has already been had, as you suggest.
02:10 People have been voting on that.
02:12 They've been voting on it with their feet.
02:13 They have fled California in record numbers.
02:16 Florida has been the number one state for net in-migration.
02:20 We have the number one ranked economy,
02:22 number one now in education, crime rate at a 50-year low.
02:25 But in another sense,
02:27 this is the debate for the future of our country.
02:29 Because you have people like Joe Biden,
02:31 they would love to see the Californication
02:34 of the United States.
02:36 Biden may not even be the nominee.
02:38 You could have Gavin Newsom.
02:40 You could have Kamala Harris.
02:42 And I think if we go down that direction,
02:45 that's gonna accelerate American decline.
02:48 We can't see America decline anymore.
02:50 We need to reverse American decline.
02:53 Governor, let me ask you,
02:54 'cause I know this issue
02:56 of African-American curriculum came up.
02:59 And my understanding is that you had a panel
03:03 of predominantly African-American scholars
03:06 build out the history of slavery,
03:10 African-American history in the country.
03:12 And you were attacked by Kamala Harris over that.
03:18 And am I wrong in my understanding
03:21 that these were predominantly,
03:23 this curriculum was put together
03:25 by African-American scholars predominantly?
03:27 Yeah, exactly.
03:29 And one of the leaders was the former chairman
03:32 of the US Commission on Civil Rights.
03:35 Kamala is lying, saying somehow these black scholars
03:38 designed a curriculum to try to say
03:41 there was somehow good with slavery.
03:43 That is not true.
03:44 They showed the injustice of slavery.
03:47 They told all the stories
03:48 throughout all of American history,
03:50 including black history.
03:51 And she's trying to demagogue it to score political points.
03:54 But Sean, we fight back against that.
03:57 We do not bow down to the media mob.
04:00 We don't bow down to the left
04:02 when they are trying to demagogue and lie
04:05 about things that are going on in the state of Florida.
04:07 So I've stood up for those black scholars.
04:09 I thank them for their job, and they did a good job.
04:12 I believe we're living in a time
04:14 where Democrats especially are trying
04:16 to criminalize political differences.
04:20 I noticed a story about a Massachusetts DA
04:23 wants the Attorney General Merrick Garland
04:25 to prosecute you for sending illegal immigrants
04:30 to Martha's Vineyard.
04:32 My understanding in that case,
04:34 by the way, they threw him off the island
04:36 in less than 24 hours, and we did a background check.
04:38 There were enough rooms
04:39 for every one of those illegal immigrants.
04:41 Is it true?
04:42 My understanding is, is that every person
04:45 that went to Martha's Vineyard signed a waiver
04:48 and did so voluntarily?
04:49 Of course it was, Sean.
04:52 I mean, give me a break.
04:53 What a farce that they're doing.
04:55 What a crock.
04:56 But it just shows you the left in this country,
04:59 they want to criminalize their political opposition.
05:03 They want to weaponize the institutions of government
05:07 to go after people that they can't beat
05:09 through the political process.
05:11 This was an issue in my reelection, Sean.
05:13 Some people were attacking me over the fact
05:15 that we've been very strong against illegal immigration.
05:18 And what was the result of that?
05:20 We won the greatest Republican landslide
05:22 in Florida gubernatorial history.
05:24 So this is a crock, it's a total abuse of power,
05:27 but it doesn't surprise me that they would try to do that.
05:30 Last question, I noticed your response
05:32 to the indictment of President Trump yesterday,
05:35 and I know you're rivals right now,
05:37 but you said something that really stuck with me,
05:39 and that is, I don't believe any Republican
05:42 can get a fair trial in Washington, D.C.,
05:45 or New York, or in Fulton County, Georgia.
05:49 Should there be a better way to administer justice
05:54 and not put liberal Democrats
05:57 in conservative districts for trials?
05:59 It should be a district where there is
06:01 a fair balance of a jury pool.
06:04 Absolutely.
06:07 I mean, in D.C., they will go after you
06:10 if you're a Republican, the facts be damned.
06:12 Republicans don't have a fair shot there.
06:14 They should be able to have a fair trial somewhere else.
06:18 All right, Governor, we're gonna work
06:19 on the details behind the scenes
06:20 with your office and Governor Newsom's office.
06:23 We appreciate you coming on and accepting that challenge.
06:26 That'll be interesting TV.
