00:00Thank you very much.
00:30Badudian is here, so we start the press conference of the state winner.
00:36Questions will be in English and then we translate everything at the end.
00:40Dovande in inglese e poi traduciamo tutta la fine.
00:43We start from here.
00:47Kasper, everybody was talking about Olaf Koi, of course, and Mats Petheser,
00:52and then Kasper Pannudian Wings.
00:53Can you explain why you won today?
00:58Why did I win today?
00:59Because I really wanted it, and I think everyone in the team believed in me.
01:04So that's the most important part to get a win.
01:09It's a good feeling that I could do it and that I could pay back the belief in it.
01:16Yeah, go on.
01:17Okay.
01:17And what does this mean?
01:18Because this is, of course, your biggest figure in your career in a Grand Tour.
01:22What does this mean to you?
01:23It means a lot.
01:25I reckon if you have the chance to do a Grand Tour and then being able to win in it,
01:31not a lot of people can say it.
01:33So for me, it's one of the bucket list things.
01:35And to have it ticked off now is a great feeling.
01:39Questions from the press room.
01:40Can you hear me, yeah?
01:49Congratulations.
01:51To watching the way you won today, it's hard to understand why you haven't won more,
01:56because it was a very convincing, sort of emphatic win.
02:00Just in your own words, why is this the first at this level?
02:07I don't know.
02:08Maybe because it's my first Grand Tour, so that's the reason why it's the first one in a Grand Tour.
02:14And, no, I think, yeah, I think maybe I have to believe a little bit more in myself,
02:18and today could help with that.
02:20But I also think, yeah, sometimes it takes a bit longer for someone to reach their first win at this level.
02:28And I think everyone believed in me that I could do it.
02:32So I had to listen to them.
02:35And today, yeah, everything just fell right, and I could do it.
02:40Press room.
02:40Sala stampa.
02:41Yeah, Kasper, congratulations.
02:44A couple of questions there.
02:46How useful was it seeing, it looked like a very technical finale there in parts,
02:50how useful was it seeing the finish, and did you sort of manage to stay out of trouble?
02:54Also, obviously, the team is very involved in the fight for points at the moment.
02:57How much pressure have you guys been feeling in that area?
03:01I think it's really important to see a final like this.
03:04And the hotel was closed, so yesterday we also took a little look,
03:07and I reckon that also helps.
03:09It keeps you calm, and you don't have many surprises when you do a final like this,
03:14and you can just really focus on running from point to point in a final like this,
03:19and keep your head calm.
03:21And, yeah, points-wise, I reckon it's nice.
03:24Of course, it's nice.
03:25It's nice to grab the points.
03:27But, yeah, we have faith that if we do as we have planned and if we follow our processes,
03:33that it will be fine.
03:35So, all we can do is keep our head down, work hard, and we'll see at the end of the season.
03:40Hans?
03:41Yeah, Kasper.
03:42Last year, of course, Fabio Jakobsen came in the team.
03:45What did you learn from him?
03:47And was it, in a way, a good thing you could maybe come into the shadow of, well,
03:52the big sprinter Fabio is?
03:53And, of course, we know he's now injured and resting and trying to get back.
03:58And what would you like to say to him?
04:01No, I reckon it's really important to have a guy like Fabio.
04:04He's a guy that's done it so many times.
04:07So, when he gives you advice, you can count on it that it's good advice.
04:11And if you put it into practice, that it will pay off.
04:14And it's really a shame that he's out because we all know what a fighter he is
04:20and how much he likes to win and how much he likes to help us out and fight.
04:27So, it's a really big shame that, yeah, he is injured.
04:32But I also have faith that when he comes back, he will come back strong
04:36and he will get back to his level.
04:39So, no, I wish him all the best and we all wish him all the best.
04:43And, no, it's not an if, but it is a win for us.
04:47And, yeah, we like to see him back again.
04:52Maybe a final one.
04:54Tomorrow, maybe it's too difficult for you.
04:56But in Napoli, Napoli also is a, well, sprinting state.
04:59In what way does it give you confidence?
05:02Well, maybe to win more.
05:04I think, yeah, when you've done it once, you know it's possible.
05:09So, you can keep fighting for it.
05:10And we'll take it day by day.
05:12And, yeah, I'm sure tomorrow we will all give our best again.
05:16And we'll see.
05:17We just keep working hard.
05:19Rest room, se la stampa.
05:22Yes, hi, Casper.
05:24It's Elisabetta Esposito, Gazzetta dello Sport.
05:26Here.
05:27And I just want to ask you something about the Giro came back to Italy and how it was to win in such a warm audience full of passion as this one in Lecce.
05:43Yeah, no, it's really nice.
05:47It's really nice to do the race and to be here.
05:50And everyone knows that an Italian crowd is always a good crowd.
05:54So, yeah, to have all the people along the road and have them yell at you, it's really nice.
06:01And it's something you dream of as a kid.
06:03So, to be here and then to be able to win is a wonderful feeling.
06:08Rest room, se la stampa.
06:12Casper, we saw your guys wearing aero helmets today.
06:16Is there any reason why all teams aren't wearing aero helmets in sprints already?
06:22They probably will be tomorrow.
06:23And also, I just wanted to ask you about your English.
06:25All people from the Netherlands speak very good English, but your accent seems to be exceptionally good.
06:30I don't know whether you've spent time in England or Australia or can you just clear that up?
06:38Yeah, with regards to the helmets, I reckon they're just faster.
06:42So, when it's faster, sometimes you just have to do it.
06:45Maybe it doesn't look the best, but I don't care about looks.
06:48And we also said if you win today, then nobody cares how it looks.
06:52It is fast.
06:53And fast is maybe not always the most sexy or the nicest to look at.
06:58But if it makes me faster, then I'm wearing it.
07:01And my English is...
07:03I've got a lot of friends that are native English speakers.
07:07So, yeah, they helped me out and they created this accent.
07:10But if you prefer, I could put on a Dutch English accent if you like.
07:17Press room, se la stampa.
07:21Basta così, grazie.
07:23Hans, you have another one.
07:24Thank you, Casper, congratulations.
07:26Thank you, thank you very much.
07:27E adesso sta arrivando la maglia rosa, Mads Pedersen.
07:32Maglia rosa is about to arrive.
07:34Scatolone.
07:35No scatolone.
07:36Non scatolone.
07:37Si sono le moto organizzazioni.
07:39Iniziamo la conferenza stampa della maglia rosa, Mads Pedersen.
07:43We start the press conference of the maglia rosa, Mads Pedersen.
07:49Domande in inglese, poi trarerò tutto la fine.
07:51Questions will be in English.
07:53And then I will translate everything at the end.
07:55Iniziamo da qui, from here.
07:56Hi, Mads.
08:02Well, Casper Venudo won the sprint today.
08:03Did you expect him today to be there also in the sprint to win?
08:10Yeah, I expected every sprinter to be there for the win.
08:13You know, it's a quite easy day.
08:15And every sprinter should be able to fight for the win today.
08:19So it doesn't surprise me at all.
08:24Press room, se la stampa.
08:25Yeah, Mads, we saw there was a bit of an incident where you were sort of caught behind at one point.
08:36And Ciccione also needed to fight back up as well.
08:40Can you just take us through that last frantic 10 kilometers, please, a little bit?
08:43Yeah, it was a bit of a shit situation with the crash from Søren and it caught me behind also.
08:53And yeah, to start to change back, what, 15 k's to go to make it back to the front.
08:59But there we definitely had to use some energy we didn't want to and yeah, we lost Søren in that and also Dan had to spend the energy to come back or to bring us back.
09:10So there we lost basically the train and yeah, from there on we just had to do damage control and I had to spend a bit too much energy.
09:19But in the end, it is what it is and we did our absolutely best and I think we, yeah, we managed quite well to still the finish fourth and get the, get some points for the Ciclamino.
09:31Next question, prossima domanda, sempre se la stampa, press group.
09:36Mads, last time we finished in Matera, where we finished tomorrow, the finish was, it was a hard sprint with sort of guys getting dropped, 20 guys maybe sort of came over the line together.
09:47Was tomorrow stage one that you'd sort of thought about and kind of circled before the Giro was suiting you?
09:55To be honest, I'm not looking, you know, too much ahead before, before the Giro.
09:59So we know that tomorrow it could be one of these days where it's like 50-50 if I make it or not.
10:08But with the, you know, with the climbing legs I had in the beginning of this race, we have to try our absolutely best to, yeah, to win another stage and keep the leader's jersey.
10:18So, yeah, now we will sit down when we come back to the hotel and then we will try to make a good master plan again to see if it's possible for us to make another top result or not.
10:29Yeah, Mads, today we, well, raced, of course, in Italy, you in the nice pink jersey.
10:37Is that more special in a way than it was in Albania to wear this jersey with all the crowds and everything?
10:43I think the more special was to wear it in a road race instead of a time trial, you know, in a time trial it's for 15 minutes and, yeah, you don't have the same fan base around and so on, but here this jersey is just so special for every Italian also.
10:59So, this was an incredible experience and I really enjoyed today.
11:04Sala stampa, press room.
11:07No more, grazie.
11:09Here.
11:10Thank you, Mads.
11:11Congratulations.
12:43Thank you very much.
13:12My English is good, because I have a lot of English friends, so they have helped me.
13:17If you want, I will speak English with accent olandese, but I think it's better to speak like this.
13:22The conference stamp of Mads Pedersen said,
13:26I expected that Kasper Van Uden could fight for the victory.
13:29It was adapted to many velocities, so it was not a surprise for me to have seen it here.
13:34In the end, there was a very suspicious situation with the caduce.
13:38I remained behind, there were a little more than 15 km, so it was a rincorso.
13:43Dan, Wool have spent so much energy for me.
13:46I wanted to get into it.
13:48But at the end, they are useful for the Maglia Ciclamino.
13:51The tomorrow night could be adatta to me.
13:55I don't look at the front before the Giro.
13:58But it's a day that could adapt to me.
14:02With the legs that I have and I have to try.
14:05It's very pleasant to win, and with the leader, I would love to be successful.
14:09In Hotels, when I enter, we will try and look at it more and see what we can do.
14:14It's especially special to dress the red flag, not only in Italy, but also in a circuit line.
14:18I have only dressed in a chronometer.
14:20This is one special part once in a circuit.
14:22We do believe that it's an expert for all Italians, so it was incredible.
14:26What are you doing now?
14:32I'm trying to say it's a special feeling.
14:33You
