00:00so bristol city are out of the playoff race now crashing out 3-0 at home 3-0 away wasn't
00:09desirable it wasn't to be for liam manning's side but there are some positives i can take
00:15away from it obviously if we look back at the sort of overview in the semi-final the playoff
00:20journey began unfavorably at home you know thought going into it 3-0 um you know as a massive result
00:27for sheffield united and having the home leg first was was real real positive for them
00:32they just couldn't really quite get it over the line obviously rob dickie was sent off so bristol
00:37were 10 men and and then goals um you know three goals from um you know two from substitutes from
00:45sheffield united really put the tie in their hands and then at bramall lane one of the toughest places
00:50to go this season and sheffield united are suddenly uh heading to wembley and liam manning's side
00:56will be very very disappointed really with the way the playoffs panned out um but you know they
01:01have to take some positives from it um daniel wales our bristol correspondent will be looking into
01:07bristol city and their um season as a whole you know as a perspective in 2025 there has been
01:13very good liam manning's now got that experience of the playoffs so maybe it can bode well for a bit
01:19of foundation for future success dan what did you make of um the playoff journey obviously not
01:24desirable in the end not going how they planned um but you know maybe they can bounce back in the
01:30future well charles if we're completely honest the tie was lost at ashton gate following that
01:38controversial red card to rob dickie and after that sheffield united just showed their quality
01:43in that first leg getting that three nil advantage in their away tie and then when it came to ashton
01:49gate bristol city were missing players with injury and suspension obviously and ultimately
01:54sheffield united just just put them to the source another three nil win and that was that they go
01:59to wembley and bristol city miss out on the chance to go up to the premier league they will
02:03remain in the championship for at least another season however there's a lot to be proud of from
02:09a bristol city perspective in terms of what they've achieved from this season you know if you look at
02:13their squad you could argue that in no way shape or form should it be challenging for where it was
02:20challenging towards the end of the season that top six that's testament to the work that liam manning
02:25has done as the head coach and his backroom staff as well getting them into that position
02:29and probably getting his team to for the most part overachieve for a lot of the season certainly they
02:35were inconsistent at parts at the start of the campaign but once i think the turn of the year
02:39came they really came into their own and started playing some really good football scoring a lot of
02:44goals creating a lot of chances and getting crucially a lot of points on the board but
02:48ultimately they just came up against a really good side for liam manning though it was disappointment
02:54but prize especially in the supporters and the players following the end of their season at bramble lane
03:00yeah tough difficult i think um yeah one of those i thought we had we started really well i thought the
03:11first 15 20 minutes we came out and real real good control real good purpose got into some good areas but
03:16lacked a little bit of uh you know conviction and quality in the final bit um and you have to make
03:20those chances count because you know you're not going to create bundles against such a strong
03:23opposition and and then the the difficult bit the frustration is probably what leads to the set
03:28piece you know especially the first one it kind of comes from us and half row and before you know
03:32it we're defending a corner and naturally when you're up against you know probably one of the most
03:36dominant aerial players in the uh in the division um and we've got a huge amount of height missing um
03:42it becomes quite difficult there spoke about it before and whatever the outcome of tonight no
03:47regrets leave it all out there you know make the club proud make yourself proud your family is proud
03:51um you know have a right go and i thought we did it i thought we did it and we're up against you
03:55know an extremely strong opposition who you know huge credit to chris and his staff and the players
04:00for getting getting over the line and getting to the final so you know best wishes to them but um
04:04it's really good learning for us we have to you know we've had a you know a taste of some things
04:09that we can use to make better and just say to the players in there you know let's everyone me
04:13included we all need to step up take responsibility learn from it and you know come back a better
04:17version of yourself well bristol city certainly need to take encouragement from the season they've just
04:22had getting into the playoffs going into next season i think liam manning knows that as well
04:26they'll all of course go off for their summer break now but they need to come back in july refreshed
04:30and ready to go again hopefully with a few new signings over the summer too to boost what is
04:35probably a middling championship squad but if they can overachieve again with a few new faces
04:40who knows where they could end up at the end of next season
