00:00now bristol city have been consistent in terms of ensuring that they are in the playoff race
00:09on the final day now um we're going to mention the playoff race the playoff situation that
00:14bristol city will find themselves in who they could face um in terms of that route to wembley
00:21the million hundred million pound game to reach the premier league obviously it's going to be a
00:26massive following if bristol city are to get there they haven't had good luck in the in the playoffs
00:30before um you know they want to be a side that really push on now and and you know obviously on
00:35the back of of back-to-back defeats in the championship um we're going to go to bristol
00:40city expert dan wales who's going to mention um the playoff race how it's looking going into the
00:46final day and who bristol city will likely face now obviously the top four is is confirmed um it's
00:53just five and six bristol city in commentary at the moment it could obviously be middle blackburn
00:59and middlesbrough as well so it goes down to ninth place i mean um results on the final day are going
01:05to be huge in terms of bristol city's charge they go you know and host preston uh in the early kickoff
01:11on saturday a massive massive chance to ensure that they are in the playoffs i mean dan firstly how
01:18important is it that they are in the playoffs that leon manning side have a real good go at it
01:22and secondly who would they face who would they come up against who would they have to
01:27ensure that they beat to get um to wember obviously over two legs an incredibly high pressure game um
01:34both home and away to get to the 100 million pound game dan has more um just tell us a little bit
01:41about bristol city and where you see them ended up um in terms of the championships final day
01:47well charles bristol city's fate on the final day in the championship this season remains firmly
01:54in their hands leon manning's side despite the 4-0 loss away at leeds on monday night still control
02:02their own destiny in terms of qualifying for this season's championship playoffs they currently sit
02:06in fifth place of course they can't go up anywhere sunland and sheffield united will remain in third and
02:12fourth place respectively but obviously there's still the potential to go down the likes of
02:17coventry millwall blackburn middlesbrough all wanting a chance coventry actually play middlesbrough which
02:22is quite the fixture perhaps one of those two getting into sixth place bristol city though they are at
02:28home to preston north end aside still fighting for their lives in the championship somehow they've
02:33managed to get themselves dragged into a relegation battle despite not being in it only a few weeks ago
02:38they only needed really sort of one win to secure their safety but they haven't got it so they're now
02:43you know and if they are to get beaten by bristol city they're relying on other results but of course if
02:48they were to win they would be fine but mainly though for bristol city they just need to win and they
02:53will secure fifth spot they are in put position and they have the points advantage so they just need
02:59to win against a struggling preston side and they will be fifth in the championship and they will face
03:05sunderland over two legs in the playoffs of course if they were to come sixth it's unlikely now they
03:10will be coming sixth they would face sheffield united of course they would be at home first because of
03:17course if you are third or fourth you get the away leg first which is seen by some as an advantage as
03:23well so all to play for for bristol city they've certainly had a good record at ashton gates of late
03:29one that other teams would love to boast especially those fighting for the playoffs themselves
03:34and promotion so it's it's there for them of course the playoffs is then another step they did beat
03:40sunland recently at home but it was a much changed sunland side so that's for another day for now they
03:46just need to focus on this final day of the season and beating preston at ashton gates it's certainly
03:52not beyond bristol city knowing that sometimes they have been a little bit inconsistent they were would be
03:58to stumble at the final hurdle but you'd like to think that given their recent home record at least
04:04they would have enough on the day to beat press north end and secure that fifth spot and of course
04:09that would be huge for liam manning his players his staff and all the supporters at ashton gate it's
04:14been such a long time since bristol city have had anything like this to be excited about in terms of
04:19championship to premier league promotion it would be nothing short of a miracle if they were to go up
04:25as well given the squad that they have in comparison to say other clubs in the championship and
04:29the sort of the the ability and the quality of liam manning has managed to squeeze out of some of
04:34these players so all to play for for bristol city nothing guaranteed yet but they are in pole position
04:40as things stand
