00:00Good people of Hazel Mare, will you please pray silence for councillor Olly Leach, the Mayor of Hazel Mare!
00:17Wow, what an amazing turnout and thank you to whoever ordered the weather, because this is sublime.
00:33So, friends, neighbours, fellow residents of Hazel Mare, what a truly special day this is,
00:40as we gather today under glorious, glorious sunshine, to mark the anniversary of victory in Europe 80 years ago.
00:51The guns fell silent across the continent, bringing an end to years of imaginable conflict and hardship.
00:58So let's think for a moment about the sheer relief that swept across our nation and the world on that day.
01:05The joyous celebrations, the outpouring of emotion and the profound sense of hope for a brighter future.
01:13It was a turning point, a moment when darkness came to recede and the light of peace began to shine through.
01:23Today, as we remember those momentous occasions, we also remember the incredible courage and resilience of those who lived through those times.
01:32The brave men and women who served in the armed forces, the tireless workers in factories and on the land.
01:39The families who endured separation and loss with unwavering fortitude.
01:46Their sacrifices paved the way for the freedoms we enjoy today.
01:51Freedoms that we must never take for granted.
01:53So let's start this by passing over to our Lord Lieutenant.
