00:00BCCI has decided to suspend the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League for a week on May 9,
00:142025 as cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan escalated.
00:30It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war, a BCCI official told PTI,
00:46confirming the suspension of the league, which was to wind up on May 25 in Kolkata.
00:51IPL franchisees also reacted to the suspension, standing in solidarity with the armed forces.
00:55However, the BCCI has been in a huddle since 8th May 2025, exploring all possible options.
01:01BCCI is also ensuring overseas players reach safely as early as possible.
01:06All 10 IPL franchises have reportedly begun disbanding with players,
01:10particularly the overseas contingent and support staffs, starting to leave
01:14following the rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.
01:17As of now, the BCCI isn't expected to announce any new schedule for the remaining IPL matches.
01:22After Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals was called off, both teams went back to their hotel.
